About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Beachesaway0 contributionsA fabulous introduction to the culture and history of St. VincentWe hired Fred to take us to the “local” highlights of St. Vincent, he did not disappoint. We walked around with Fred and shopped in Kingstown where we went to an open produce market where he shared the names and uses of local produce; to Jax, a locally founded “Walmart” ; and to a grocery store where we bought chocolates and souvenirs. After we toured the interior of the island while Fred narrated the various settlements and history. We stopped to look over the breathtaking “Mesopotamia” valley, the “bread basket”. We had a fabulous seaside local lunch in Chateaubelair, the last town before the volcano. Our final stop was dark view falls, a quaint local waterfall. We learned amazing details about the people, culture and history of St. Vincent. We cannot wait to revisit this beautiful island and have Fred show us more! Fred is knowledgeable, friendly, and a wonderful tour guide. If you want to really learn about this amazing country, give Fred Stay a call. “Freddy is ready” for you!Written September 20, 2024
- Jferris10 contributionsBreathtaking views, if you’re up for the hiking challenge i would recommend this as a top excursion pick for the island!Fred was an amazing guide, knowledgeable, friendy and kind. He let us dictate the pace the entire hike kept us energized with snacks and lunch afterward. He was punctual and a great communicator. I would highly highly recommend this hike, the views were amazing and I certainly would recommend Fred. With poor conditions a knowledgeable guide would easily run into issues.Written August 12, 2024
- jonathanfI8906JL0 contributionsThank You FredOn June 15, my sister and I did the Soufriere volcano hike. The day before, we also did Pirates of the Caribbean tour. Both tours were excellent. Fred is a skilled driver, knowledgeable tour guide and he treats his guests very well. He also takes the safety of his guests seriously so (if you're doing the volcano hike) you're in safe, experienced hands. It's not an easy hike but it's great exercise and rewarding when you reach the top. The volcano hike is also an interesting way to view different areas of Saint Vincent (during the drive to the volcano) and learn about the history and ecology of the island. I highly recommend anyone in Saint Vincent to hire Fred for his services.Written June 16, 2024
- thomascC1001KT0 contributionsGreat hike of La SoufriereWe had a great day with Fred hiking La Soufriere. We were picked up at the Cruise Port and Fred drove us to the start of the hike and lead us up the volcano. Afterwards we were treated to some soft drinks and the lunch we had ordered earlier in the day. We really enjoyed it and can highly recommend booking at tour with Fred.Written January 28, 2024
- Daniel L0 contributionsGreat customized tour of St. Vincent.Booked the Dark View Falls tour with customized stops for our group of six. The ride throughout the island was wonderful. The steep winding road was a little scary at times but Fred's driving felt very safe. He was a very friendly and informative guide who clearly cared about making sure we enjoyed our tour. He generously extended our tour duration at no extra cost to allow us to enjoy the different stops without feeling rushed.Written January 11, 2024
- F5636EGnicob0 contributionsVulcano with FredThe tour with Fred was amazing. He picked us up at accommodation and explained a lot about the country while we were driving the scenic east cost. The hike was spectacular and Fred gave us always additional information about plants and about the vulcano. I can highly recommend him.Written December 1, 2023
- mtbgregh0 contributionsVermont Nature Trail HikeStrenuous but well worth it. It is so beautiful and informative. If you are lucky you may even see the St. VIncent Parrot. We could hear them but did not see them even though they were right over our head.Written November 14, 2023
- C4180HPstephenp0 contributionsTerrific volcano hike and operatorWe really enjoyed our guided hike up the volcano with Fred from Stays Taxis and Tours. Fred was on time (early in fact) to pick us up from our accommodation and gave us lots of local historical and contemporary information as he drove us to the trail head. Once on the hike, which took us about 5 1/2 hours up and down, he looked after us with snacks and drinks and told us about the flora and fauna on the mountain, as well as about eruptions including the recent one in 2021. On return we went to a local restaurant in Georgetown for a tasty meal before Fred kindly dropped us at the airport for our evening flight. All in all, an excellent activity and operator.Written September 6, 2023
- mtbgregh0 contributionsBeautiful and worth the tripStrenuous but beautiful and well worth going to see. Lots of climbing and downhill. Did not see the Vincy parrot but heard them. The trail is easy to follow and laid out with some good information stops along the way. Very interesting. I have sent others to enjoy the experience.Written August 3, 2023
- TammyM9090 contributionsGorgeous hike with an amazing guideBeautiful, but challenging hike. The first 3/4's of this well-maintained trail winds through a lovely rainforest canopy along mountain ridges with some sections hiking up many stairs. The last section is more exposed near the top of the crater. The day we went it was unusually foggy at the top, but there was still plenty to see and well worth the hike. Fred is a great guide and went above and beyond for us several times while we were in St. Vincent. Tripadvisor double booked him for the day we originally chose, but he was willing to take us last minute since we only had a short time available. He also took great care of us on Sunday when everything was shut down and we had nowhere to temporarily leave our luggage. We would highly recommend Fred!Written June 28, 2023
- VagarConSonia0 contributionsPerfect hike to Soufriere volcanoThis hike is not an easy hike, I am an experienced hiker and a bit older than Fred. He was a great guide, knows the volcano, is super fit, patient and made sure I was safe at all times. I am a solo traveler and he was ok taking one person on hike. He is very punctual, I used him to go to Montreal Gardens and for the airport trip as well. I was staying on Bequia and we had to coordinate my arrivals at the ferry dock. He is very responsive and communicates well. The best thing about Fred is that he does it all, he drives, he has the historical information of St Vincent and he hikes. Most other guides hand you off to other guides to take you up the volcano.Written March 30, 2023
- FabianFaulhaber420 contributionsNice and relaxed day trip with lots of historic informationFred is a very friendly and welcoming guide. He picked us up where we stayed in Arnos Vale and took us to the fort, where he told us a lot of interesting facts about the history of St. Vincent. From there we visited the heritage park and looked at the old filmset from the first pirates of the carribean movie. Our last stop was a very nice black sand beach, where all the locals go on the weekends. The entire trip was more like 5 to 6 hours. We can definitely recommend Fred as a friendly, laid back and knowledgeable man, with a very interesting life experience.Written June 7, 2022
- Y5110QYphilippeh0 contributionsGreat relaxed informativFred was delightful to be around, easygoing and very friendly. Great guide had cold water for us and mangos from his own garden. He respected all our wishes. It was a great day, the best thing was all the small infos he gave us! We loved it!Written May 31, 2022
- reeop0 contributionsSuper-volcano day with FredFred is amazing and inspiring guide in his 60s running circles around us younger guys on the Volcano hike, I want to become Fred when I grow up! Fred is a former school teacher and reliable and personable guide properly full of interesting tidbits about Saint Vincent. Had a brilliant daytrip, picked up at 0715, starting the hike 0845 and down again about 5h later incl. 40min by the volcano crater enjoying an unreal view. If you're slightly fit for a walk (no more than ~8km) then La Soufriere hike is an unmissable experience and Fred is the ideal guide to go with. Proud I could support Saint Vincent tourism after a couple of devastating years of pandemic and mega-eruption!Written February 8, 2022
- BeckynPete0 contributionsA wonderful day, with the best tour guide you could wish forWe spent a fabulous day with Fred, he is so knowledgable about the history and nature of St Vincent. Fred adds value to every moment you spend with him. This was our second tour with Fred, we learned so much about St Vincent that we will definately return for another tour.Written January 27, 2022

Fred, our driver/guide, was very knowledgeable, friendly, and courteous! He answered all the questions we could come up with as we drove around the island. We covered history, culture, food, government, and many other topics.
The walk to the falls was reasonable and Fred stopped for photos at our request, as well as suggesting several excellent vantage points for pictures. The island is truly a gem of the Caribbean, picturesque and vibrant. The tropical rain forest is beautiful and full of interesting things./
