      You’ve been warned.
When the “warning” signs are more interesting than the art, I think there is a problem. I don’t know where they get their funding, but it looks like a waste of taxpayer dollars if they receive any public funding. I think you could go to the clearance isle at any “dollar store” purchase a few items to spray paint all the same color and they would accept this for modern art here. An absolute joke altogether. I have photographed the most interesting pieces on display I will attach them to this review.

      Loved the gift shop!
I think they were between exhibitions when I stopped in, so I didn’t visit the show BUT loved the gift shop! Large bright space, lots to look at, nice and well displayed. Needless to say I found a bunch of cool things to bring home. KMAC is steps away from 21c, slugger museum, frazier museum etc so you can see a lot in a few close blocks. I will be back to shop (and see art!) on my next trip to Loisville.

Great contemporary art museum and gift shop
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to KMAC. Masako Miki’s Shapeshifting exhibit featuring felted wool sculptures brings a whimsical element to organic shapes in an intimate installation that can be enjoyed on many levels. KMAC’s gift shop is the best gift shop ever!

      Louisville visit
what a wonderful museum! We were going through Louisville as part of our Backroads cycling week. I quickly bought two small pieces of art and the staff sent them to me in TX! They arrived safely and now we are enjoying these pieces! Thank you for your swift service and your service to the Louisville community.

      Cool!
Interesting and cool contemporary art museum tucked into the "tourist" area of downtown Louisville. New and changing exhibits and a pretty cool kids interactive area. Multiple "floors" that IS handicap accessible. Well worth a stop!

      Worth a visit
The KMAC is a smallish museum. Consequently one needs up to two hours to visit. Its exhibits are stunning. The KMAC is worth a visit. The staff are professional, friendly and helpful.

      Small contemporary art museum
With multiple floors of exhibits, this small museum provides an inexpensive opportunity to explore contemporary art. In January 2023, the exhibited artists included individuals with connections to the Louisville community. The museum also specifically focuses on encouraging children to explore art (including through free admission).

      Waste of Time
What used to be the "Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft" has changed to the moniker of "KMAC" and decided to become hip, slick, and cool. There is certainly no "craft" here. Just a bunch of burned-out local Marxists and outdated Post-Modernists playing identity politics. The curator is a local yokel who cannot see past his own nose. Avoid this place.

      Not returning
Today I went to a workshop for the public, only to be told it was for Teachers only. I had called before the class on the day of to ask if it were still going on. Nothing was said about changing the audience. I was sent away feeling bewildered and confused. I spent money to get there and am on disability. All around, it was not a pleasant experience.

      KMAC is a great museum
My experience at KMAC was phenomenal. I had the pleasure of visiting an open mic during the Gold Key and American Visions Exhibition. The pieces are incredible. In particular, the young artists' sculptural pieces caught my eye. There's a wonderful gift shop and the staff is friendly. It's a great place to visit if you're downtown.

      Four floors of new art
We had such a good time in this downtown contemporary art museum. Not only was the art provocative and clever, but our wives also loved the gift shop. They bought new rain coats and gifts. I expected the museum to be larger than it was. If you don't know the address, you might walk past it. A great way to spend an hour or two,

      Small, but nice Museum
Very small museum, but nice variety of art. Nice shop (with a coffee bar) and friendly staff. Parking can be found in lots behind the building. Right next to the Science Museum.

      Small, modern, low key
Smaller museum in clean, modern digs. The staff are super nice and they are taking the utmost precautions during COVID 19. Modern art. When I went, they had a very good exhibit on southern artists featured in the book “Walks to the Paradise Garden.” They also had an exhibit from a local Louisville artist. Neat gift shop with lots of upscale fare. In the past they had a Picasso exhibit and other thoughtfully, well curated shows. This is a great museum to see over an hour or an hour and a half. It’s not overwhelming and worth a stop. You may see things here that you won’t see other places.

      Picasso at the KMAC
Over the years the KMAC has been free, however, a major showing of a number of Picasso’s drawings and ceramics from 1946-1953 requires a fee. At $9 per adult and $6 for seniors and military folks it’s a small price to pay to see an exhibit that has never been seen in the U.S. It’s well worth the time to come visit to see this once in a lifetime exhibit here in Louisville. And don’t forget there’s the student exhibit on the first floor plus another artist exhibit on the third floor. Remember, this area of West Main Street has the second most concentrated cast iron facades in the U.S. Great art and great architecture is hard to beat.

The quality of he exhibits was outstanding! I really enjoyed the Shapeshifting exhibit because it reminded me of the art my grandchildren used to make. I thought the Pastiche of Good Intentions and Other Parties was eye catching and beautiful.

Fans of contemporary art will enjoy a stop here. The Shapeshifting exhibit was colorful and interesting. There are only two floors and a sparse collection of art. Gift shop with lots of jewelry. You can see the whole place in less than an hour.
