          Nice safari, not perfect service
Safari was good enough, although you should always remember that it's a bit random thing if animals will go to your route. I didn't like the fact that instructions were not very clear - tour says it starts at 5am, but I found out we should go at 3am from Ella only when I phoned to service. Another fact - they didn't give us any food or drinks, though it is listed in the tour plan. The driver was a very nice guy though, car is also nice.

          Good experience with Shehan Safari
Hishan comes to our hotel to pick up us for the safari. It was excellent, we saw many animals, elephants, buffalos, birds, crocodiles, deers, owl in a big three. Last but not least… the leopards !! The mom and her baby. Hishan was motivated to show us as many animals as possible. We appreciate this experience in Yala. Thank you to him again!

          Ok...
Nice guide but barely spoke English and was silent almost entire safari. A leopard was spotted but the queue to see it was 30+ jeeps long and would have been 1hr or more. We also were taken to the side entrance to park, where we were told later there are far fewer animals than the main entrance. Guide I think did try to show us around but was very different to udawawale tour where we searched out whole park and we're kept informed even about the smallest birds up to the biggest elephants.

We did the afternoon safari. It was an amazing experience and our driver/guide Yashara did his utmost to see the leopard

Mind blowing to see animals in their own habitat
We were picked up at Ella at 3am to a place near Yala for pick up there at 5am by the safari jeep. We saw lots of different birds, peacocks, marmosets, wild boars, spotted deer, monkeys, water buffalo, elephants and the illusive leopard. Thanks to Sanka and Sunil for an amazing day and getting us to the south coast.

          Great safari and drives! Yashara
We went with Yashara who was absolutely great and super knowledgable. Picked up us bang on time then took us to see so many elephants, and we were lucky enough to see 3no. Leopards. Breakfast and lunch were also delicious. Finally I left my kindle in the truck from the day before and he very very kindly met us in town to drop it back off to me. Which is hugely appreciated. Top guy!

          Good Safari with various wildlife
It was great to see the national park with lots of wildlife. We only saw leopards from a long distance but was great to see nonetheless. We did the 7hr trip which was a good in-between duration but remember that is 7hrs in a 4x4 without getting out of the car so be prepared for no toilets and a lot of bumps. We saw 2x Leopards (1x could only be seen with binoculars), 3x elephants, deer, buffalo, boar, monitor lizard, mongoose, peacocks and lots of other different birds. Only downside is the 100x jeeps (see my last photo), however they were all conservative and didn’t leave the road to chase wildlife, that’s why when 1x jeep spots a leopard all the others congregate.

          Amazing experience! Saw three leopards!
The tour was amazing! We were really lucky with our guide Yashara because we managed to see leopards and elephants. The guide seemed to know a lot about animals there and took amazing photos with his camera, which he sent to us!

Not an interesting park at all
The park is not very interesting. The driver did his best to find some animals, but there are just not enough of them in the park. We were collected at 05.00 and back in the hotel at 10.00. Incl 1 hour to get there v.v. In the end is was a safari of 3 hours.

VALUE PACK! One Day Safari to Yala & Udawalawe
A long drive and a very early start for this excursion from Wadduwa. Our driver (never knew his name) spoke very little English, but very ably took us all the way to our meeting point with the Jeep. I had been worried about the driver being tired on the journey, but he seemed to manage to drive, talk on the phone and watch tv all at the same time!! We met with our tour guide and the Jeep on the side of the road. The step up into the Jeep was so high that the only way we could get in, was for the Jeep driver to reverse into a ditch so the step was lower. We then drove another hour to Yala park. We saw some great sights, lots of wildlife - elephants, bison, deer and a vast selection of birds which our driver was very knowledgeable about. Our driver also knew much about the park itself and went out of his way to try and find different species for us to see. Unfortunately the trip itself felt very long and uncomfortable - the Jeep was really bumpy - so by the time we left Yala we had almost had enough! This wasn’t helped by the well-intentioned driver then taking us on another long drive where we discovered 3 elephants on the road. They were each around 400 yards apart and although it was unreal to see them in close proximity (see photos), it soon became apparent as the driver pulled up alongside each elephant, then reversed for us to get different camera angles, that these poor creatures were only there because they were hungry! They were begging. Lots of vehicles passed and threw out bananas etc and the elephants were getting fed, but it still felt very uncomfortable and almost as if we were hounding the poor elephants - particularly as we didn’t have any food to give them. We then went on to a restaurant where a delicious meal awaited us. After we’d eaten we asked the driver where we were heading next. He told us we’d be going to see more elephants in Udawalawe park. As we had seen more than enough elephants, plus knowing we’d got at least a 3 hour journey back to our hotel, we decided we’d skip the next part. The trip operator, although seeming slightly offended, arranged for a taxi to pick us up at the restaurant and take us back to meet our transfer driver (the tv watching driver) at his rest area. Very kindly, the taxi driver stopped for us to pay a quick visit to a temple and museum as we passed it. In a nutshell, this whole trip was overpriced & whilst Yala was a lovely place to visit, with hindsight we wouldn’t do it again.

Wonderful Safari in Yala National Park
The tour was amazing! We saw elephants, monkeys, crocodiles, peacocks, many birds, wild pigs, and a leopard!! Dilan worked hard to ensure we saw as many animals as possible and with his skills as a guide we got to see the famous leopard. He taught us about the animals and lunch was wonderful. Highly recommended to anyone who is considering the trip. Worth it!!

          Superb experience
Definitely was worth all the money and time coming here. Had a great time observing wildlife with friends and family during the safari. Couldn’t get to see the elusive leopard but i’d like to witness one the next time we visit. The Yala beach looks amazing too so definitely take a visit to that area too. Make sure to have a great time when visiting Yala

          Disappointing Safari
We found that the National Park was very disappointing. There were far too many jeeps, who were unprofessional. They were messing about overtaking & blocking road to stop us overtaking, on the road from & to hotel the same behaviour carried on with alot of the time driving on wrong side of the road. We only saw some birds, a lizard, one elephant & water buffalo. Numerous times we were in a group of about 30 Jeeps waiting to see a leopard, once one of the Jeeps went to drive off & all the drivers were shouting at him, not surprising no leopard appeared.
