About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- D5979QUkimberlys0 contributionsVery delightful!Krista was a wonderful tour guide, very personable and knowledgeable. The restaurants were limited as a result of the pandemic however we felt we received a full tour with lots of yummy food.Written September 12, 2021
- kjwoody0 contributionsOK tourOur tour guide, Krista, was pleasant and energetic. We sense, because of changes from Covid, the restaurant choices were not their first choices. Tamale was great; last stop pastry was horrible (since when is a Puff Pastry dark brown?) Tour was not Fountain Square; it was the Fletcher area. Historical sharing was OK.Written September 12, 2021
- Ralph H0 contributionsFountain Square tourFood was excellent and guide was very good. We tried several food items I had never heard of or tried and liked them all. Rook had great food and New Day had awesome drinks. To make it 5 star I would make a few changes. First: when we arrived at the meeting place no one was there. When we asked people there about the tour no one knew anything about it. Our tour guide was not there early, like they asked us to be. The other item: Our first stop was at New Day for some hard ciders and mead. This is about 2 pm. They tell you not to eat lunch, as there is much food to sample. But starting out with 6 beer samples on an empty stomach and hiking quite a way in the 90 degree heat was a little rough. They need to save the tasting until after one or both of the food stops.Written July 1, 2019
- Tom M0 contributionsMay not have been our first choice but no regrets whatsoever. We were supposed to go on the Mass Ave tour but got bumped, so we decided to take the Fountain Square tour instead and had a fantastic time. My wife and I have been on a few other food tours in other cities and this one ranks right up there with any of them. All the restaurants were great! We were very surprised at the size of the meads samples :D and the appetitizers at Rook were our favorite. Dani did a great job and is extremely personable and friendly which pretty much can be said for the people of Indy by and large. I go to Indy quite often for business and will definitely make plans to go Duckpin bowling and to Rook the next time we are in town.Written June 24, 2019
- sudiehoc0 contributionsFountain Square food tourI’ve been on several food tours in other cities and always felt like I got a history of the neighborhood and had a little bit of an understanding how it fits into the rest of the city. Today, our tour pretty much focused on the four restaurants we visited and recommendations about other restaurants in the area. I don’t feel that I know Fountain Square or it’s history at all or how it compares to the rest of Indy. Our guide was VERY nice and accommodating, she just wasn’t a tour guide. It was like visiting four restaurants with a nice friend. We visited a mead place, two Asian restaurants and a chocolatier. With the wide variety of restaurants, why two Asian restaurants for the main part of our meal? Pad Thai and dumplings at the Thai place seemed like a really mundane choice and something everyone had already had. Very nice guide who has great potential, she just needs to be able to tell a better story, impart more information and act like a guide as opposed to a friend who just melds into the group.Written April 20, 2019
- Charles F0 contributionsDelightful Fountain Square TourOn the beautiful Spring Saturday of April 13, my wife and I ENJOYED the Fountain Square Tour with 14 other people. The ages ran from mid-20's to mid-70's. Dani , our fantastic leader had us "clicked" together within minutes. Dani is SO knowledgeable, full of love for Fountain Square! The conversations between friends and total strangers as we "tasted" Fountain Square was interesting and amazing. And the chocolate at the end of the tour was the "icing on the cake"!Written April 17, 2019
- jefisch0 contributionsFun and tasty birthday outingI bought tickets to this tour for my boyfriend's birthday. Our tour guide Dani was amazing and super knowledgeable. The food was great and filling. I also now have a new favorite food thanks to this tour! As a vegetarian/non-drinker, they were able to accommodate my needs, and I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. I would definitely do one of their other tours after having done this one.Written April 15, 2019
- lynettetravels0 contributionsFountain square food tourWe were lucky to get a perfect day in April and even luckier to get Dani as our guide, knowledgeable yet relaxed it was fun for all. SKIP LUNCH!!!! I promise you will not even need dinner, plenty of great food on this tour.Written April 14, 2019
- ScottDrakeISU0 contributionsA Sincere ValueWe met Dani in the afternoon. She gave us a brief history of some of the buildings around us and then we went inside for WAY too much food at the first place. The food was great. We then visited the James Whitcomb Riley home for a mini-tour and were given a quick history of the neighborhood. (It actually was interesting and not boring.) Our next food stop was at a dive bar/pub. It was fun, but it didn't seem overly 'foodie' to me. It was cool, but when I envisioned a food tour on Mass Ave I had Hedge Row, Bakersfield, The Eagle -- and really less dive bar. Doesn't mean I'm right, it's just what I had in mind. Our final savory stop was at Rooster's Kitchen. Food was great and the service at each stop was friendly. Our final stop was next door at a delicious (and one of my fave Mass Ave places) chocolate shop. I expected small samples of food. Boy, was I wrong. Big portions. Almost meal-like. Eat a very small and very early lunch before this afternoon tour. I expected that the 'food tour' would only deal with the food. Hearing the history of the buildings, neighborhoods, etc. was really nice -- and unexpected. I also expected that there would be somewhat heavy encouragement to buy more on the tour. (Alcohol was not included save for a few beer samples.) However, there was not a heavy upsell aspect and that was nice. Overall, at $61 bucks, it was a good value. Creeping out of that range would still make it fun, but it wouldn't be as well-received by my wallet. At the price where it is today it all seems justified. And don't forget to tip your tour guide $6 - $10 per head! (Dani certainly earned the $10.)Written February 11, 2019
- Charles H0 contributionsWhat a great food tourMy wife & I met up with 3 friends from Cincinnati for my wife’s birthday. We had taken other food tours in other cities so we decided to take one in Indy. Our tour guide was Dani Miller (ask for her if you are going do a tour) and she was great. She was a lot of fun and made sure we having a great time despite the rain. Not only did she knew about the food she also knew the history of the city. We started at the Rathskeller. This is a German Resturant with great food & a long history in Indy. Dani then took us thru an old part of Indy with older home and history. We then went Lockerbie’s nice bar with a great pork tenderloin, deep fried pickles & local beers. On the way to next stop Dani talked about how Indy is improving the different neighborhoods to bring them back to life and showed us some of the changes. The next stop was Rooster’s Kitchen for a beef brisket sandwich with cheese. The brisket was moist and melted in you mouth. We ended the tour at the Hoosier Cupboard Candy, Snacks & Ice Cream for some truffles or ice cream. Both are great! The next time you are going to Indy take the food tour & ask for Dani to be your guide!Written September 8, 2018
- bethyoung590 contributionsFountain Square Food TourWe had a great time on the food tour! Our guide, Rhonda, was easy to talk to and did a great job sharing the history of the neighborhood. The food options were varied and we had plenty to eat. I highly recommend the tour!Written August 20, 2018
- bkp210 contributionsGood tourWe did the Fountain Square food tour recently with the kids. A meadery, a vegan place, a Thai place and a chocolatier. All were pretty good, the meadery gave me a different perspective on meads. Vegan was pretty good, Thai was Thai. Chocolate was good, nice to meet and chat with the owner. Dani was our guide, pretty knowledgeable about the area.Written July 9, 2018
- Emily M0 contributionsGreat afternoon/evening out!We thoroughly enjoyed our Mass Ave Food Tour last weekend. We learned a lot about the Lockerbie Square neighborhood and interesting history about Indianapolis. Our tour stopped at the Rathskellar for a sampler platter of German food, the James Whitcomb Riley house, Lockerbie Pub for pork tenderloin sliders/fried pickles/local beer, Mimi Blue's for meatballs, and Best Chocolate in Town for some ice cream. We ate A LOT and did some walking, so we decided to stroll Mass Ave for a while after supper--it made for a good date with my husband!!!Written August 21, 2016
- Karsen_150 contributionsIndy Food Tour Bachelorette BashI booked a private tour Mass Ave. food tour for a bachelorette party and had an amazing time. We spent a little under three hours learning more about Indianapolis history and neighborhoods, walking around, and trying a ton of delicious food. Even those of us from Indy really enjoyed learning more about our city in a new and different way. Our tour guide, Amy, was incredibly friendly and helpful! I would definitely encourage other friends and family to experience one of these tours!Written May 24, 2016
- Ed W0 contributionsFantastic Tour. This is a tour that I would recommend to all visitors. The food was awesome and a different cuisine at each stop. The time spent at each venue was great allowing for adequate time to eat without feeling rushed and allowed you time to get to know the other people on the tour. Our guide was extremely friendly and very attentive to all participants' needs. A great time was had by all.Written April 5, 2016

The tour guide seemed to be very nervous and unsure of what to do. Unfortunately, she did not know much about the historic facts of the city and one of the other tourists were filling her in on the history. She was very nice, pleasant, and easy to talk to but needs more experience. The food was mediocre at best. I understand that the Rathskeller is the oldest restaurant in Indy but the food is not good. I also understand that two of the restaurants on the tour recently closed and the Taste of Indy Food Tours were scrambling to find replacements. The new restaurants, especially the ones in “The Garage”, were not prepared for us. Arrangements were not made in advance to have seating for all of us so once we got our food we had to cram in a table with other people, then walk and eat to stay on schedule. The best part of the meals was the ice cream at the very end. I know this can be a better tour, especially for $73!! So disappointing all around.

Fantastic way to spend an afternoon. Dani our tour guide was excellent. She was friendly courteous and informative. My wife and I had the best time enjoying Dani talk about the history of the area and the story behind the food and restaurant on the tour. I want to book additional tours with her at the fountain.

We had Dani as our guide. She was amazing! She knew her history well and she was very fun. My husband and I were glad we got to see lots of parts of the city and restaurants because we don’t live in the area. The food was a great variety and I loved the differing styles of food and atmosphere each restaurant brought. Definitely recommend!

My daughter and I were having a Girls weekend in Indy and decided to do this tour. I had lived there many, many years ago but so much has changed! Learning some Indy history was very interesting and we went to places I would never have explored on my own. The food was fantastic at each place. No need to plan dinner because the sample sizes are very generous. I highly recommend! Looking forward to taking another one in a different part of town next time!

This was a great 3 hour tour! My wife and I went with 2 other couples and had a great time. The food was good and the tour guide (Dani) made it even better. This is the second tour I've done and will be doing another. We loved it.

My husband and I had an incredible time! Melanie was awesome - so knowledgeable and really engaging (not to mention a great sense of humor!); the places we went to all had great stories and food and we felt warmly welcomed everywhere. We also couldn't have picked a better group!

we enjoyed the different locations and food. The portions were almost too large but very tasty. We tried everything offered and the drinks were good as well. The length of time was about right and the walk not too much

Any chance there is a wait list. My sister will be in town tomorrow (9/29). We would love to to do this. Thanks!

Is food included? If yes, can you accommodate food issues? (I can't eat cow-dairy, but sheep and goat are OK and I eat meat.)
