- X6060HThowardc00The highlight of our Iceland tripI’m on my way back from the highlight of my family’s Iceland trip which was taken to another level by our guide Thalis! He was so knowledgeable, caring and helpful! He took it to another level. I recommend going to the cave and using this company and Thalis, if possible! You will not be disappointed!!!!
- madjulat00OK TripLet me start if by saying I did enjoy the views of the trip, but I did not enjoy the tour guides attitude. First, they picked me up at the wrong location when trip advisor stated that my Pick up would be at my hotel. Secondly, the tour guide Carol seem to be annoyed by small things. There was one stop where we had to meet at the Pick up point, but everyone ended up getting lost. She seemed In a rush to do things, which I really did not enjoy. I wouldn’t book with this company again, I’d book with another company if I were you.
- Culture2315253176400A fabulous 8 days of adventure with JohnWe took a family of 3 on the 8 day tour, and it was one of the best decisions we made in a long, long time. Our tour guide John was very keen to maximize our experience, and made sure that we were happy, safe, and getting the most out of each day. It’s hard to know what to say was “the best” thing about the trip — many of the reviews here summarize the major sites, and certainly the Katla ice cave and visiting the Puffins up north in Borgorsfjord Eystri were particular highlights. Our guide John really was the glue that held our crew together, and gave everyone a sense of enthusiasm and a love of Iceland and Icelandic culture — including a stellar soundtrack. All questions were welcome all the time, from were will dinner be happening, to who was that “Ingo” guy, anyway? He is a geographer by training, so you get a full understanding of the place from the community to the national level. We had a great group that was interactive and fun across all age levels and backgrounds. The bus was comfortable, and I feel like by the end we really had a great overview of Iceland, and some ideas about where to plan our next set of adventures. Highly recommend, by day 3, you are away from the buzz of the Golden Circle, and you’ll feel like you are in Your Iceland.
- zhenpingz202300Fantastic Tour in IcelandFantastic Tour in Iceland I would've thought my tour would not worth it's price because it's very usual during my time of domestic group trips. But this tour totally surprised me, there were two amazing things during the eight days: The spectacular views and John the best guide and driver I've ever met. Oh and also, interesting activities, beautiful people in the group and special local food are also unforgettable. I really hope I can come back here soon and travel again with John. Love from China
- elsp230800Unforgettable experience - Thank you John (Ionut), Natalia, and PascalIceland is the wonderland of nature. Our 8 Day tour of Iceland gave us the unforgettable experience of our life time - glacier hike, ice cave hike, boat tour of Jokulsarlon Lagoon, whale watching, and so much more. Magnificent landscapes formed by the volcanos and glaciers are incredible and breathtaking. Our experience was made exceptional by our tour guide John (Ionut) who showed his love for Iceland and it's beauty, his passion for his job, and his knowledge of Iceland history and culture. Icelandic language is hard to learn. But we learned a few from John - "amazing" and "my lovely people" with icelandic warmth and hospitality. We would also like to thank Natalia at the Glacier hike, and Pascal at the Katla ice cave hike for their meticulous personal assistance to ensure my wife could enjoy the hikes safely and successfully. This was our first time to join others for a multi-day tour. Our experience is very positive. We liked the interactions, friendship, and caring among the group members. We wish everyone well wherever their next journey may lead to! If you like to maximize your visit in Iceland, I highly recommend the 8 Day ring road tour. You will love the amazing sceneries and the wonderful icelandic people.
- Karenafalena00Must do Iceland activity! This is a must to do activity, if you are in Iceland, especially with teenagers. It’s such an unexpected experience, and the views in the water are unparalleled. Our instructor, Elsa, always funny and patient and explained everything very clearly. The pictures they sent us afterwards were beautiful. One thing I did not realize before going was that you will keep a thin layer of clothing on under the wetsuit, so a T-shirt, and a pair of shorts or leggings and socks are definitely recommended, but you do not need a bathing suit. Make sure to read the details in everything they send you and arrive 20 minutes early. This activity is 100% worth the time and money.
- rayssas32000Snorkelling between continentsLoved all the experience we had with Troll Expeditions. Throughout all the activity we were helped, assisted and entertained by all the staff that were working there. Special mention to our guides Axel and Pablo, since they made the adventure much more awesome. They were helping us at every moment, making sure we enjoyed and we had fun during it. Thank you very much guys, you rock!
- sjg110400Breathtaking ExperienceThis was a fantasic experience. Fabio was a wonderfu guide, who not only made sure we were safe but explained so much about Katla, the volcano and glacier. The pictures don't do it justice. Highly recommend!
- RBonTheLake00Amazing once in a lifetime experience!Quite possibly the highlight of my trip. 11+ miles round trip to see it erupting. We parked at Parking 2 but this may change. Great views. The hike had a lot of flat spots but one particular incline was a bit tough because it was dry. Definitely take hiking poles if you have them for this part of the hike. The view from the very top is well worth it! We could see the volcano erupting – when we first got there it was good, but we spent about ½ hour or more there and it increasingly got higher. You couldn’t hear anything but you could smell it. A lot of people on the hike but because the hike is so long they are spread out. This was amazing to experience.
- N8029HIrk00Great experienceThis is the only glacier / ice cave / tunnel you can also visit in summer. Because ice melts, the situation changes from day to day. When we were there, there was no tunnel or cave, but still the entire experience was breathtaking. You do not have to be super fit, but since we had to pass some wobbly bridges I would not recommend this if you suffer from severe vertigo. The guide (Thomas) was GREAT! I do have vertigo, but he helped me over each and every bridge and gave me confidence. He was funny and knowledgeable and even made the trip over a desolate moon landscape of black lava ash and sand worthwhile and exciting.
- Zoechl00Outstanding ExperienceStunning and unexpected at this time of year (summer). Small group (11) and fabulous guide (Pascal). Loved it!! Highly recommend.
- baronvonmyles00Excellent snorkelling trip with Troll.isBooked Silfra snorkelling with transport for Reykijavik. Transport arrived promptly and was clean and comfortable with very helpful/informative guide driving. Snorkelling guide Ari was excellent - as well as giving clear instruction and guidance of what we'd be doing, he was very personable, chatty and good-humoured, all of which helped make the afternoon most enjoyable. (Partly thanks to the sunny weather) we were provided with fantastic pictures of our dive taken by Ari to download. Where else can you get a picture of yourself helping to push America and Europe apart :) ? Would highly recommend.
- 459marjank00Snorkeling SilfraGreat guide with a good sense of humor (Marcello). Respectfully to all. Good gear, hot drink and chocolatebar afterwards were greatly appreciated!
- andrea h00Awesome sauce multiplied! Our entire family had a blast with our very helpful funny and informative guide Vanessa! Best experience and pics ever!
- A7922XGtonie00Great memoryThe water was crisp and beautiful. The whole team was helpful. Our guide Ari was funny and took lots of nice pictures.

My husband and I had a great time hiking the glacier! Our guide (Lucia, I believe) was lots of fun and very informative. She had evident passion for the area and was able to teach us quite a bit. She was very patient and helpful, especially for those in our group who needed more time.
Side note: it was very warm the day we went, so we did not need the waterproof clothing specified. I would ask the guides how to dress when you arrive, and they will be able to let you know. I was in short sleeves the whole time!

Great tour.highly recomemended.must try! Big thanks to the guide (Adam & Boris)who made it fun& safe. It was windy (once up there) and misty rain throughout the 4hr-tour. Make sure jacket is waterproof (NOT water resistant). Cold and wet are not fun (and yes some people in the group got cold and wet because the misty rain seep in. Can't imagine if it's heavier rain). I thought I wear too many layers (sweating on the way up), but glad to stay warm and dry (not sweating anymore) once we are at the peak and start the ice climb. My waterproof jacket is 13000mm (waterproof specks) and compeletely dry. My husband is wearing 10000mm jacket and seep in (little bit) to the next jacket layer (which fortunately is a water resistant). There were 6 of us and had a chance to try 2x (for whoever want to). The only thing that is 'too bad' is that no photo service (not part of the tour). The photo 'advertised' show side-angle or from the top. Definitely not possible with how the tour is (we got to top and back down. Both hands are holding ice axe). Just like rock climbing. So keep in mind if you want to commemmorate your exciting moment.

The guide was very nice and we enjoyed her leading us. The glacier hike aspect was enjoyable as we got very close to the glacier wall/tongues. Overall, the tour was good, not great. The reason for the 3 stars and not the 5 stars is the ice climbing part of the trip was not very good as we climbed a tiny wall that took ~1 minute or so to get to the top, and a lot of it was at an incline that didn’t even really need axes. It wasn’t worth the extra cost to me and I think a trip that focused only on a glacier hike or only a climb would’ve been better, or if the tour was an hour longer and we did more climbing at a higher wall.

I travelled to Iceland on my own this September and found myself booking a spontaneous 5 hour glacier hike with Tröll Expeditions towards the end of my trip. Best decision I’ve ever made! The guide (Franzy) met me early at Skaftafell terminal and was super bubbly and cheerful and was really clued up about the gear and the glacier itself. The experience was amazing and I was in awe throughout the whole hike! Franzy also introduced me to a bit of climbing as well and made me feel super confident the whole time and was great company and very professional. The best day tour I’ve been on especially as Tröll Expeditions still went ahead knowing I was the only customer that day! Will be returning early next year to experience it again in winter! Highly recommend booking this 👍🏼

My wife grabbed a helmet and later we realized that it had a red light. Because it qas in mid November, it gets dark at 5pm and we couldnt see anything with the red light. We were a group of 12 and one flash light couldnt shine light for 12 people. We were left behind and quite scary to find our way back to the patking lot. It was a very windy day with rain and we all got really wet. I am surprised to know that we didnt get sick. We had to walk a hour to get to the bottle of the glacier mountain. We put the snow showes on anf walk the glacier for about 2 hours including visiting an icy cave. I got a bottle of glacier water. One guy fell through and got wet to his knee. I was getting really tired when we were walking back. It was dark, wet anf windy. Anyone who is not fit will have a hard time. Also for winter season, i recommend the morning time. Enjoy.

This was a great experience, one of the highlights of Iceland. Our guide, Adam, was great at picking the right spot for our small group of 6 which would match our abilities and desires - he was a good laugh too. We felt safe the whole time and were able to hike to a good spot in good time and then spend the bulk of time climbing.

We booked a glacier tour with climbing in mid-May. We were lucky to be the only ones and had virtually a private guide. The tour was unique and magnificent . Our guide Roggi was very nice and told us a lot about the glacier. We climbed out of a crevasse, were in a glacier cave and saw a waterfall in the crevasse. We felt like we were experiencing something unique and had a wonderful day. At first we thought the price was very expensive for Central Europeans but after the tour it was well worth it. We can recommend this tour. Thanks Roggi for this great day ;)

It's exhilarating to pierce the ice and get higher and higher up the glacier. Our guide Pascal was a great climbing instructor. We knew safety was his to priority (he triple checked everything) and he was an encouraging teacher. Unless you're afraid of heights, please don't skip out on this!

I spent a month in Iceland and this was definitely the highlight of my trip. My guide Sam was absolutely amazing, so knowledgeable about glaciers and the environment, she took us to several places on the glacier and was really supportive on the ice climb. Fantastic day, this is a not to be missed activity.
