- richardpE9033YS00You need to goMy wife and I went and everyone was so kind and pleasant to be around. The staff was top notch, so professional in every way. The food was unbelievable good. We went for three days, camped out, caught over 200 fish and they cooked some for us. Will go again. Thank You
- 838tannyj00Amazing Cast and Blast on the Snake RiverWe had a great time hunting and fishing on the Snake River for 3 days. The guides (Peyton and Aidan) were awesome. We caught salmon, countless bass, white fish, and few huge sturgeon. Also had a successful chucker hunt. The camp was comfortable and the food was some of the best we have ever had (thank you, Aubrey). Our family created some great memories and would highly recommend MRO to anyone wanting to experience jet boating in Hells Canyon.
- Trip78633400Fantastic River ExcursionMy sons and I took a five-day, four-night rafting trip on the Salmon River in late July. I wouldn't classify it as a vacation, but more of an adventure. From beginning to end, the trip was highly organized and well run. The guides took fantastic care of us. both on the river and off. The meals at camp were excellent and the team always went the extra mile to make sure we were having fun. The scenery was phenomenal throughout the 90-mile trip and we saw a lot of wildlife along the way. This was unquestionably one of the very best trips we've ever taken and I would highly recommend to anyone that loves the outdoors, camping and wants some adventure.
- KDwright4200Highly Recommend Fun!My wife and I were visiting family in Idaho and did a day trip down the Salmon with Mountain River Outfitters. It was a great experience and would certainly recommend and do again when back. Last year we did a half day in a different location with different group, which was great also, and wanted to do a full day. First half was more of a cruise with beautiful sceneries, following by awesome shore lunch, and finish with heavier rapids, for the fun of us adrenaline junkies. The guides were all awesome, and safety is always a priority, without lacking fun!
- danah81000Buy trip insurance- no refundsI bought my first camping experience, a 3-day camping rafting trip last minute, 5 days before leaving as my schedule freed up. This had been on my list for years. I was not informed on the phone by Brenda that there was an option for travel insurance ir given any suggestion to procure, she gladly took the $1100 and said an email would follow up. I received an email of details 2 days before I left and a note about travel insurance was embedded amongst many other details. I arrived mid an official heat advisory and heat wave. I got dizzy walking down the street in 105 degrees. I called Brenda and asked for a credit for a future trip or refund. There was no way I could do 3 days in this heat 100% outside. I asked if I could do 1 day and come home if it was too much - no. My options was pay for a helicopter lift or flag down a jet boat, pay them and then pay a guide 2.5 hour round trip to pick me up. Those were my only 2 options I had to walk away from $1100 or risk being stuck in the wilderness of Hells Canyon during a massive heat wave. No consideration of Act of God.
- Vacationer54151800First Time RaftingWe did a two day trip on the Main Fork of the Salmon River in early August 2023. Weather was comfortable 85 degrees, and the river was running at about 7,000 CFS. The trip was wonderful. The guides were knowledgeable and wanted to share their obvious love of the river and the land. The guides were supported by the company with a high level of organization. The food was great, and they were well able to adjust for dietary restrictions. Camp sites were well planned and quite comfortable. This was my first rafting experience, and it could not have gone better.
- L1208RWchrisk00Five Day Main Salmon is a Must-Do!We had a wonderful memorable five day trip on the main Salmon with an outstanding crew of professional, attentive and friendly guides. We camped on beautiful sand beaches where the guides planned fun for the kids, relaxation for the grown-ups and three delicious meals every day. We toured historic sites, hiked a little, climbed to a hot springs, paddled kayaks and learned tons about the river. We saw big horn sheep and lambs, otter, mink, a baby black bear, eagles, chukar, grouse, osprey, deer and fawns, bass, northern pike minnows and merganser ducks. A one-night stay at China Bar lodge was perfect. The white water was super fun and our guides kept us safe. Jenn was an excellent team lead and Kate was especially fun -- so ask for them :-)
- Jmkulchak00Main Fork Salmon River five day trip.Five days on the Main Fork Salmon river. Exciting rapids beautiful scenery and great food. The guides were great. Kate was especially fun and engaging! Highly recommend.
- christyf416004 Day fishing/rafting tripWent on our first 4 day, fishing/rafting trip and it was WONDERFUL! Great guides, very knowledgeable, very safe and super nice! Food was delicious, scenery was incredible, fishing was a blast, and have already requested to go again next year! Highly recommend MRO and cant wait to see them all next year!!
- Lorraine L00Fun day on the Salmon RiverSafe, fun with great guides, water was low so this would be safe and fun for all ages. The boats were not overloaded. And the guides provided a great lunch, I would definitely use them for an over night trip
- mattyb83700An absolute blast!!One of the best experiences we have ever had. Such a great mix of calm river floating and wild rapids… we had a blast! This will be something we do every year. Our guide (Beckham) was the BEST!
- HappyCamperShannon00One of my roadtrip highlights! The whole adventure ran smoothy. I was a solo traveler but we also had a girl scout troop with us. Both guides were able and ready to handle all age groups and levels of ability. The lunch provided was fantastic! Nice to get to swim in the river while lunch was prepared. Office staff were on the ball and could help what ever questions came up. Would love to go back and do a multiple day trip.
- TravelLS6000Main Salmon River (6-day - 5-night rafting trip)This was a spectacular trip and lived up to all and beyond any expectations we may have previously had. This was a bucket list trip for my wife and I, and without a doubt, the river and scenery were magical, but our river guides with their professionalism, knowledge, and enjoyable demeaner put this trip over the top! Big THANKS to Jen, Cory, Nick, Brandon, Tom, Tyler, and Bobbie. They worked diligently to make sure everyone was having a good time and I was personally impressed with their attention to all the little incidentals. They hardly stopped working the entire time while we relaxed and lounged in comfort. The meals were the best I’ve ever had in a wilderness setting. We enjoyed everyone we met on the trip and that was just another added bonus to an already pleasant experience. It was a vacation we will look back on with many fond memories. I would highly recommend MRO and their staff if you’re looking to have one of the most thoroughly enjoyable times of your life!
- 576jeannee005 stars!Amazing trip! We were on the 6 day/5 night Main Salmon rafting trip. Awesome white water, beautiful scenery, lots of interesting stops for along the way hikes & history, super gorgeous camp sites every night, and of course a really great group of river guides that made us amazing meals, took us down some awesome rapids, and were super fun to be around. The food is awesome and you really don’t lift a finger. Our group had some dietary restrictions and they were super accommodating. Jen was our lead, Brandon, Tom, Nick, Corey, Bobby, and Tyler are super knowledgeable, fun, and experts at what they do! This was my family’s second trip with MRO and it really felt like a vacation. Can’t write this without a shoutout to Aubrey at China Bar, too! That stop was a real treat with a shower and a real bed for night 3! Negatives: none. This trip was awesome. My husband said he could go a few more days and we were all sad to say goodbye. Tips: read the packing list! It’s super fun but of course you need to be prepared for backcountry and weather changes. A sarong to cover your legs (and dip in the water when it’s hot), long sleeved quick dry Sunshirts with hoods, and a hat are a must.
- 363makaylae00Not worth itWe were really excited to do this trip and to be honest, it was not worth the money. $200+ for a ticket just to sit in a boat looking at poles. I get fishing isn’t called catching but it wasn’t even about not catching anything.. The guide said very few words to us the whole time. He didn’t even give an introduction. We also only drove about a mile on the water. I was very disappointed and wouldn’t do it again.

Just go with Orange Torpedo!
Our experience August 2022 was really disappointing. Did they safely get us down the river? Yes, but let's start with the cold welcome from the front desk and then the guides and the very smelly (body odor) van ride to the river.
We were told to leave everything in our cars which we did but once fitted for life jackets we had a few things to put in the dry bags. The guide seemed pretty annoyed even though the web sites states that dry bags are available.
It was the first time taking our kids and we were excited for them but we quickly figured it wouldn't be great because after the first rapid of paddling they were thirsty and we turned to our guide and asked for water and there was nothing for us. Even though the web site specifically states that there will be snacks and drinks? I left my water bottle in my car. So now we are on a 2 hour ride in the hot sun with nothing to drink. I was very confused because that is one of the questions you have to answer when you fill out the safety form and register for the trip? It lists water or coke products.
As we continue to float down the river our guide was very impersonal and didn't even tell us about fun things we could do until too late ie float certain rapids in our life jackets or stop at certain spots(snack/drink break like the website states.) We passed a few Orange Torpedo boats and they seemed like they were have a blast.
We made it to the boat ramp and realized we lost a pair of Patagonia shorts($50) somewhere down the river. They should have been in the dry bag but like a stated before that was a touchy issue.
Another smelly ride back to the shop where there are no pictures of our adventure? Pretty sure the website says something about that as well.
It was a disappointing experience.
We called later that week to talk with someone about the miss communication about the drink issue and of course they said they would get back to us but they didn't.

The guide, Sunshine, was knowledgeable, friendly, and fun! He really made the trip memorable. The area is visually stunning! There were eight family members, of varying ages and experiences. The guides made us feel safe, and fully engaged with the experience. Would go again tomorrow! The photos were amazing!!

We did the half-day morning trip so that we could drive the Lolo Pass in the afternoon. It was a great trip! I was a little concerned as I was traveling with my adult daughter Elizabeth who tends to panic or freeze up in dangerous situations. She ended up sitting on the floor of the raft holding on but could see the excitement over the side of the raft. I also chose an oar raft for more stability. Kelly was our guide and she couldn’t have been sweeter or more attentive to Lizzy, before, during, and after the trip. I highly recommend Mountain River Outfitters!

Had a great time on a half day whitewater trip. Emma was our river guide - she is young but competent and apparently grew up on the river. We went through a couple of class three rapids but felt safe and under control at all times. A very good adventure for all ages and families. A lot of fun and you will get wet!

This is the best and most experienced of the eight rafting companies in Riggins, Idaho - the “White Water Capital of Idaho.” Solid, safe, professional operation. We had an awesome time! Great people to work with in getting our group of six onto the river. They do not disappoint.

This group is amazing! If you are rafting in Riggins this is the place to go! Our guide Jenna was nothing short of perfect. Knowledgeable, friendly, fun, and the best guide on the water! The employees in the shop were friendly and the manager Lisa saved us! I am one of those people who messed up the time zone and missed the boat! She rescheduled us right away and was so kind and gracious instead of making me feel like a dumbest. MRO is the best!!

We had a great family group join 2 of us. Aiden was our river guide and was friendly, fun, and instructive He ensured we all had a blast - and only tricked a couple of gullible ones into thinking there was a hot spring to check out with a short swim. Well done!

Great time drifting down the Salmon River with our guide, Tyler in control. Shared the raft with a lovely family of four. We might just catch up to Tyler in Crested Butte this winter. Cheers to the team at Mountain River Outfitters. Would do this again with them. Exceeded expectations.

Prompt and punctual, good equipment, fantastic guides, and some very fun class 2 / class 3 rapids. You depart from the river walking distance from the shop location so dress appropriately. A bottle of water strongly recommended.

We had Nick as a River guide, best guide ever! There were 8 of us and we were all on a cousins trip, he might as well be a part of the family now! Super knowledgeable about the River and rapids, rocks within and the different currents. He even explained some for us to know. Absolutely coming back here and having him as a guide!
