    Expensive and Disappointing
Don't waste your money. Go to a local botanical gardens or even a state park would be a far better use of your time. Almost no florals in the gardens. This is not based just on the time of year. For instance, there were no hydrangeas in the place mostly consist of walking or riding trails in the woods, which you can get for nothing or inexpensively in any state park. don't pay the entrance fee. As it is not worth it just for butterfly exhibit, etc.The birds of prey show was very impressive and quite professionally done. however, nothing about the overall experience comes close to justifying the price.

    Callaway spring experience gone wrong…
Went there in early April 2024 on a family vacation, for the spring experience and flowers / tulips / butterflies et al. Turned out that we were 2-3 weeks late for the Tulips. The bloom-season was all gone and dried up, so missed it. But the butterfly viewing experiences still made it all worth it. The ~2 hours time at the butterfly bubble (greenhouse arrangement) was both fun and educational! Totally enjoyed it. Will strongly recommend for children and family. However if one is looking for the real spring / flowers-tulips experience the. Shoot for mid-March. PS: The information center was least helpful, non-response and seemed like they are just not interested. Gave us no information whatsoever but for tickets and asking us to read up the brochures.

    Good Times
Great day with the family! Loved the birds of prey show and the butterfly exhibit. The admission is pricey .Definitely take advantage of the military discount if you are a veteran. Lots of friendly staff. Very clean. Bathrooms were spotless. Lots of gift shops.

    Check in problems
Called several days prior to confirm check in time and was told I would not be able to check in until 4PM. We arrived at 3:45 PM and the line was at least 80 people long. Three employees were checking customers in. Had to wait in line with my very young grand kids for 45 minutes.Had I been told to expect a lengthy check in I would have arrived earlier. Once I reached the front of the line, I was told my cottage was not yet cleaned but would be ready in 20 minutes. Two hours later I finally got my cottage key. Unfortunately I missed my reserved 6PM Fantasy of Lights trolley ride. We were finally able to view the lights by using the vehicle line at 9PM. Young grandson fell asleep by then. Problem on second day—Note on cottage table said to call 1234 if any items were needed. We needed soap and garbage bags and wanted more washcloths. Also a roll of TP since no extra roll was provided. No one answered at the number provided. Called several times within an hour. Still no one answered. Finally had to walk to lodge front desk to request needed items. We were there for three days—we deposited our garbage at the designated outside pick up point. Garbage cans at that drop off were never emptied during our three day stay and were overflowing. On the plus side the breakfast and breakfast staff were great! Friendly and helpful every time we ate at the lodge! Fantasy of Lights was beautiful! We have been to Callaway Garden many times in the last 25 years and all agreed the light show has greatly improved. Cottage was clean and well provisioned. The walk through light show at Robin Beach was a highlight for the grandkids! Lastly, when we brought our complaints to the lodge manager, he was very understanding and gave us an appropriate compensation. Overall, we do recommend visiting Callaway Gardens.

    Festival of Lights 2023
We stood in line for at least 30 minutes 4 times to be turned away because our room wasn't ready. This began at 400pm and continued until 730pm. We were finally given a room and rushed to stand in line for our 8pm trolley ride that we purchased tickets in advance for the Festival of Lights. We stood in line from 745pm until 945pm. The ride took an hour and by the time we were finished everything was closed. My husband spoke to the manager who said they would give us a $50 discount for our inconvenience. The $50 was charged to our room instead of credited. The manager will not return our phone calls to correct the mistake. We will never go back to Callaway Gardens again. We spent our 25th year anniversary there 7 years ago and had a fantastic experience. I am wondering what happened to the resort management. Very disappointing.

Poorly organized and ran, fire the people in charge and start over!
So stood in line for the fantasy in lights for just over 2 hours. Saw like 4 trolleys just sitting there unmanned not moving. The line is probably a little longer now than it was when we started it at 7:30 for our 8 o’clock ticket time. It’s now just past 9:30 not sure what they are going to do with the people in the back of the line. Been here a few times and each time the lines get longer and the trolleys just sitting there. Probably gonna be the last time. With children trying to entertain them is ridiculous. Line was longer that Disney’s. Just terrible and poor planning. If you can’t accommodate the amount of people that you sell tickets for then limit the amount of tickets! Poorly run, poorly planned!!!

The ride takes way too long. Makes the entire drive not enjoyable. Callaway Gardens could help by keeping the traffic moving. Poorly run operation. Not worth it,

Our family went to view the lights of Callaway. We arrived early and drove around to see the place. We all LOVED the butterfly exhibit! I would love to visit the garden areas again in the Spring when all the azaleas bloom. The short walk through the lights was very enjoyed! We rode the trolley to view the lights which was very enjoyable. I did think there would be a little more to the lights.

Amazing trails, experience and 10 million Christmas lights.
I visited a couple of times in the 80’s. First time for my wife. First weekend of the Fantasy in Lights. Spectacular. Recommend driving it though verses the trolley, which is fun too. The grounds are prestigious. So many places to walk and explore. The Butterfly exhibit is a must. There are some great mountain inns to stay off grounds but if you can, stay on the grounds. Their inn is beautiful and elegant. Probably a great time to go as well is when the Azaleas are blooming in the spring. It takes a couple of days. Although I didn’t play, the golf course looks fun and accessible to all levels of play. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. You’ll feel welcome and a part of history.

    Fantasy in Lights
We were visiting our college student in Columbus and she wanted to see Fantasy in Lights, about 45 minutes away. It seemed a little pricey but the Fantasy in Lights ticket does include the Gardens so we we decided we'd head over after lunch time the next day. I was going to inquire about a veteran's discount at the main entrance but since I had been googling the event, ads appeared in my Facebook feed with a discount. We decided to buy the tickets online ahead of time, the promo saved us $5 per ticket. We chose to ride the trolley and picked the earliest available time, 6pm. I received 3 emails from Callaway. The first was confirmation of setting up an account to buy the tickets. The second was my receipt and the third contained the QR codes for the staff to scan. I did not see the third email before we left but the staff at the main entrance kindle printed out a paper ticket for each of us. They also gave us a paper map of the grounds. We arrived at the gardens about 2pm, it was an easy drive from Columbus. The weather was perfect so we explored the Discovery Center and had a late lunch at the Discovery Cafe. We wandered over to the Birds of Prey show which was right on the lake. The show was shortened due to wild eagle and raptor activity in the area but I'm glad that the staff prioritized the safety of their birds. We had an hour left before the Christmas Village opened so we headed over to the Butterfly Center. This was probably the nicest Butterfly exhibit I've ever visited. It was amazing and I'm really glad we decided to stop by; I could have spent hours in there just watching the butterflies. At 5 we drove to the Christmas Village. Parking was plentiful and there were lots of staff on hand directing traffic. After parking we checked out the varied food trucks and dining options, then headed into the Christmas Market to browse. There was good selection of ornaments, blankets, sweatshirts and misc. toys for the kiddos. I believe there were also photo opportunities with Rudolph and friends but they were still setting up. Sunset was at 5:30 so we headed over to the line for the trolley. The staff were scanning both the paper tickets and the QR codes on people's phones so I don't think it matters which you have. We waited about 15 minutes to board, but we were seated in the first trolley which was nice. The ride took about an hour and it was CHILLY. I recommend bringing a blanket especially if you're not wearing layers. The displays were lovely and it was fun ride. One thing we noticed as we circled back towards the Christmas Village was there were spots were only one trolley could pass through at a time. I have a feeling as the night goes on the the ride takes longer as more trolleys are on the route and have to wait to pass each other. Afterwards we bought hot chocolate and walked through the lights experience. It was magical and I think you could go through over and over if you wished. There was also mini golf, but we were tired and decided to pass this go around. Overall, I think it was a really nice experience for our family. The Gardens were beautiful and I could see us visiting at a different time of year to experience other activities.

Mary is the best! Thank you thank you!
Front desk manager, Mary is the best. We’d made our reservation online just a few days prior to coming and she called us to let us know that the type of room we’d chosen online wasn’t available. She confirmed how many people where in our party and made sure that we’d have enough beds when she moved us to whatever they had available. I thought it was very thoughtful and over the top that she even called to verify the information. We came to see the pumpkins and the gardens, it was beautiful!

The rooms are WAYYYY overpriced for the mediocrity.
The hotel has really gone downhill but I don't think they care because if you want to stay at "Callaway" - you're more than likely going to stay there. The furniture is old and my chair had a stain in it...I was hoping they didn't bill me for it....

    Labor Day Hot Air Balloon
I went to the Labor Day Hot Air Balloon and the wait time was 2 hours and watching the 5 other balloons being set up was crazy. The time you’re on the balloon depends on the wind. There’s fireworks and the balloons light up but I didn’t stay that long.

    It's okay, but over priced
We weren't really impressed with Calloway Gardens. In my opinion, it's overpriced. We are seniors and it was a lot of walking with not much to see, We did enjoy the different exhibits inside and the birds of prey show. I wouldn't fo again, except maybe to see the Christmas lights.

    Callaway Gardens is a Disappointment
Just returned from visiting Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia and we were so disappointed. We haven’t been since 2016 and we were sad to see it in a state of disrepair. A couple of exhibits were permanently closed. The only thing worth seeing was the butterfly exhibit and the Ida Cason Memorial Chapel. It was hardly worth the gas spent to get there and the ticket price. It used to be so beautiful. I wonder if this attraction was a victim of COVID?

I am a season pass holder at Callaway Gardens. I too am disappointed at how the "gardens" look today. It has become a housing community that has some overgrown azaleas if you know where to look.My main complaint today is that I was denied admission today because a ski tournament was being held....I had to pay the gate admission although I have a yearly pass! I rode my bike to the beach area to find most of the people there had very little interest in the tournament being held. I'd like an answer on how most of these lower income were able to pay the inflated gate admission for a ski tournament that they had no interest in? Is there some social program being offered that I am unaware of?

I paid for 4 tickets that I have not used because it cannot be used on the day purchased. Your website allowed me to pay $97 for 4 tickets on September 5, knowing that the Calloway gardens does not accept these online ticket on Labor Day weekend. I have requested a refund and still waiting to hear back from viator.

Recently,my wife and I spent a day at Callaway Gardens. We had a wonderful time. There is so much to do regardless of your interests. We did mostly hiking on the various trails and visiting all the indoor attractions they have.A trip to the beach was also fun where we did the walking trail around the lake.Since we only had one day we couldn't cover everything. This is really a place to spend more time at.

My husband and I haven’t been in years. We took advantage of the half price on Wednesday for local GA residents. We enjoyed the butterfly center so much as always!!
The Birds of Prey show was informative and interesting. We went in Robin Lake for about 30 minutes. Ate at the restaurant by the discovery center.
It’s quite a drive around to the different places.
You can picnic there. Didn’t see any grills.
It costs extra to rent bikes, do the paddle boats, and other things.

I grew up going to Callaway Gardens as a kid in the 90's. It was fun and affordable, tranquil and peaceful. We would ride bikes all day and visit each attraction. That was then, this is now.
Callaway Gardens has become increasingly un-affordable. From admission, to activities, everything is overpriced. The young staff around the beach are power-mad teens given authority but not taught customer service, but are extremely rude to guest. On a side note. If you get away from the adolescence at the beach, you do have very respectful volunteers and staff at other the attractions. My family and I had a delightful encounter with a volunteer couple at the log cabin. They have closed the Sibley Horticultural Center and Mr. Carson's Vegetable Garden, however the butterfly house is still open.
I was dissappointed with my last visit to Callaway Gardens. I still want to go and ride bikes and visit the beauty of nature, but until their prices are lowered to a reasonable level, I will not be returning. I will not listen to the lifeguards and teen employees rudeness at the beach. To be clear, they never berated me and my family, but I had to listen to them shout at and be downright mean to paying customers.

Thank you for your feedback. We value your comments & will certainly look into the beach staffing concern. All admission prices to enter into the Gardens goes directly to support our not-for-profit, which provides new beautiful plants, food for our Birds of Prey residents, and so much more. We value each guests payment and feel as though they are right in line with all other local attractions. We do however recommend our membership programs, which allow you to save money if you are a frequent visitor. A membership pays for itself in just two visits.

The property is beautiful. Our favorite stop was the Butterfly Center. We also enjoyed the Cafe which had delicious waffle fries. However, it seems that maintenance is not occurring as it should because some things seemed not quite up to par.

One of my favorite places in the world is the Ida Callaway Chapel within the woods of Callaway Gardens. I’ve sought solace there time after time. And celebrated weddings, mourned during funerals all held at this sacred place. One of my favorite things to do is to ride my bike through those woods, and hear the chapel organ playing as we get closer. Today, for the first time (many, countless visits over 40 years) we rode our bikes through the woods seeking solace and peace after seeing the clear cut forest and logging in so many places within the gardens, and found it was locked.

Callaway Gardens was a primary destination for our trip to the Atlanta area. We fortunately visited on a fine spring day where we could walk around the many gardens and venues. Unfortunately we missed the azaleas blooming as we could tell from the countless dried up blooms in the bushes that they must have been spectacular just a few weeks earlier. The Discovery Center and the Birds of Prey demonstration were a fascinating way to spend an hour. The chapel was lovely as was the Butterfly House. Our overall impression was that Callaway Gardens is a great family destination in the summertime, and a good place to visit the other times of the year. Your level of enjoyment of the gardens themselves may be impacted by the time of the year you visit.

as many times as I have traveled near this area, this was my first visit. I don't know whether I chose the wrong time to visit or what but I saw very little blooming and it was tremendously confusing trying to navigate the roads to determine where things are.
