Before getting behind the helm, you’ll receive a standard safety orientation that covers boating basics and the rules of the water. You’ll then hop aboard a F-13 mini speedboat to explore the waters of Tampa Bay, from Fort DeSoto to Egmont Key and the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. While following a guide who will be in a separate boat, you’ll learn about the Florida coastline and get to view islands, national wildlife refuges, and the historic Fort De Soto Park, which covers five islands on the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay. Plus, you’ll be able to make stops at various points of interest during the tour, as well as spot dolphins, manatees, tortoises, sea birds, and more.

Excellent tour if you want to see the bay on a semi solo adventure
Upon arrival to our boat tour we were greeted by the captain who would be ushering our vessel. The boat was ready on time and we were provided with basic operating instructions. After a brief warm up to learn the ropes we were off on our tour. Our tour guide guided us around the bay at a variety of speeds and pointed out several points of interest. The boat we were provided had an adequate amount of power and had excellent maneuverability. There was enough room to bring small bag and still have room for 2 adults. I would definitely recommend this tour as it offers a great view of the bay with lots of photo opportunities.

Highlight of the summer

I did the 2 person speed boat adventure for father's day. What an incredible time we had!!! We are a little older and our guide patiently helped my husband in and out of the boat and explained the rules thoroughly. It is super easy to find, lots of free parking and we felt very safe while satisfying our "need for speed". We will definately do this again!!

Fun activity!

It was so fun! You cannot hear the guide through the walkie talkie but it was awesome to be on the water and, seeing beautiful home and driving fast! I would do it again. I would recommend a Monday as it will not be as rough on the water. The guide told us to book next time directly though them as this site charges $30 more than direct booking!

Bad guide, better choose other speed boat company

The speed boat itself was fun but our guide was bad. The information said no prior experience was needed. But the guide had a very bad attitude was very impatient when our boat had some troubles. Moreover, the information said we would learn about the Florida coastline and make stops at various points. However, the guide only narrated once and did not stop at any spot. We had to keep catching him during the tour.
Another bad thing was that we gave him $10 as a tip after the tour, but he said we must give at least 20% gratuity which is $30. And still said we should give more than that because we had some troubles when driving. We finally gave him $30 as he asked but we felt very uncomfortable and disappointed. Will never come back.

Super Fun Experience

This was a thrilling 20 mile ride around Tampa Bay / St. Petersburg. It was fun to be in the driver seat and follow a lead boat. It was thrilling, but felt safe with good instruction provided prior to the trip and the guide made sure that he didn't get too far ahead of us. It was great fun; I would definitely do it again. The company made sure that we would have the best experience by adjusting our booking to when conditions are optimal. The weekends get busy around the bay and intercoastal with increased boat traffic. May try to book on a weekday next time.

An absolute BLAST!!
My son (11 years old) and I had a great time! Our tour guide was very friendly and answered all my questions before leaving the dock. I have never driven a boat before and it was very simple so if you're inexperienced, don't worry. The tour is led by a guide via a jet ski and the speedboats follow behind and follow course. Our tour consisted of two other speedboats, so three including ours. If you are considering this tour adventure, please don't be afraid to go fast!! If you go slow and don't go full throttle (as instructed), others have to slow down...it is a SPEEDboat tour. Will definitely do it again.

Fun but disappointing

This was my second time doing this adventure. Very different experience from my first time with Captain Tony. Much longer idle times this time...almost 45 minutes in the canal at low idle speeds before we got to the area where we could open it up to full throttle. That was awesome and just as I remembered it. After about 25 minutes at full throttle, it was time to head back to the dock...and more low idle speeds becaise of the no wake zones.

During the full throttle time we did slow down to view many dolphin sightings. Many of these sightings were fairly close to the boat. Pretty cool.

When we got back to the dock, we questioned our guide about the long idle time and were told there were several factors that go into selecting any particular way out...one of the reasons mentioned was driver ability. My sisters and I wonder if the long idle time route was based on an assumption about our driving ability based on our age?

The best part of the trip was the guidance we received while still being able to let loose and have fun testing the waters. Captain Derek provided some great educational moments throughout that made it more enjoyable. He did a good job of maintaining the safety amongst other boat traffic and it was just the right amount time all together! It was a total blast!

Fun but could have been better!
This was our third time doing this excursion. The first two times were spot on and phenomenal. Don’t know why this time was different. I did ask our tour guide why there was so much idle time and he explained that there was a lot of factors that went into the decision of the path that they decide to take at the time. Which Included wind speeds and the abilities of the driver. Which in the end told me that he decided to take a path that was a little more subdued. Which I thought was a real bummer. I was a little bit taken aback by that as we were older than your average driver but we are more than capable! The whole tour was about an hour and 45 minutes and I will say we spent probably an hour and 15 minutes in idle time.Which we definitely were not expecting and put a little bit of a damper on things. The 30 minutes that we spent actually doing the speedboat part of the tour was great. So it was fun but it sure could’ve been better!

An AMAZING time!

My wife and I went on the guided tour of the bay area yesterday and can not wait to go again! The speedboats are spacious enough that you have comfort room and really glide across the water super fast! I manage a hotel on the beach and have to be honest, this is now on my list of top 5 things to do on the beach hands down! The tour guide was knowledgeable of the history and guided us on the most amazing tour of the waterways. Along the way we saw 17 (YES 17!!!) dolphins along with other marine life. At one point of the tour we were signed to stop and ended up right in the middle of a pod of dolphins! It was something we will always remember! If you are reading reviews trying to decide if you should go on this adventure...take the advice of not only beach hotel manager but also a local and book it! I guarantee you that you will not be disappointed! On my next adventure...I am booking the later tour in hopes to catch the sunset!
