He has the pictures to prove it!
Kevin did a great job on our tour. My family and I did a 9pm ghost tour. I have a 16 year old son and a 22 year old son. Both were a little apprehensive about a ghost tour. However both really enjoyed it. Kevin is a great storyteller and his respect and sincerity for the subject matter really come through. He is a good person and this comes across during the tour. He is not full of bologna and his stories sounded true and accurate in their telling. However the best part of the tour is the photographic evidence he provided during our tour. These were all photos and videos of things captured at each location by past guests of his. Very interesting and compelling stuff. If you are looking for a good night time tour and love a good ghost story Kevin is the guy.

      Choose this ghost tour!
My boyfriend and I really enjoyed this tour. We both love learning about history and we both believe in the paranormal. Our tour group was very small (6 including us) and that made the experience more intimate. Kevin is very knowledgeable about St. Augustine's history and paranormal investigating. I also enjoyed how he was realistic about paranormal experiences because it's easy to get caught up in legends. He would also show evidence of instances in which previous guests have caught spirits on camera. I didn't catch anything on film, but I did feel something brush against my arm. We all think it have been the spirit of a 5 year old. Thank you for a great time, Kevin!

Best historical tour in the U.S.
This tour was incredible. Our tour guide, Kevin, is one of the owners, and his historical knowledge of St. Augustine was unparalleled. His enthusiasm for history is infectious, and my daughter, who is not a history fan, loved the tour. Definitely recommend. It was one of the best history tours that I have ever done in any city. Thank you, Kevin! Much appreciated.

      History buff treat
This tour was a last minute booking after I experienced this company’s (Spyglass Travel & Tours) Walking History Tour of St Augustine. The guide is the author of “Wicked St. Augustine,” a book that dives into the intriguing, shadow history of the city. This is a one-of-a-kind tour and you will not be disappointed. To say that Ann is passionate about the subject matter is a major under statement. She is an amazing guide, who shares the dark history of the city with story teller flair, but unlike storytelling all she shares is true, verified personally by her through detailed research that includes review of court records and newspaper articles as well as countless interviews. If you love history and intrigue, this is the tour for you, so make the time.

Kevin is a Historian and Ghost Hunter - Excellent Tour
Spyglass's Kevin was very knowledgeable about St Augustine and the history. You will get a deep understanding of the history of St Augustine and Kevin will take you on an exciting Ghost Tour of some of the hot spots. In addition they give you a map for other hot spots to check out on your own. Spyglass is a small mom and pop shop and this doesn't feel like a big corporate. In addition, I captured a photo of the Ghost Cat see attached.

      Wonderful Ghost Tour!
This was such a great experience! If you love actual history and tales of hauntings without all the gimmicks and campy jump scares, this is your tour. Kevin is very knowledgeable about the area and is a wonderful story teller. He’s also very personable and answered everyone’s questions. My 13 year old son said this was one of the best things he’s ever done!

Kevin was very knowledgeable and led the group on a very interesting tour of the main attractions of the city. As others have pointed it out, the tour is over 90 minutes, However he kept it moving at a nice pace. I would advise wearing comfortable shoes and not being in a hurry. Kevin was also great at giving reommendations for restaurants and other activities around town.
We took another tour earlier in our stay and it was interesting to compare the differnt point of view! We highly recommend this tour and each of our group of four voted this tour as our favorite!

One of the best walking tours that we have ever been on. Our guide Kevin was really knowledgeable and told great stories about the history of this wonderful city. We went way over the 90 minute time that we paid for - we were closer to 150 minutes!! Kevin really loves what he does and it shows. He took the time to explain lots of interesting things to us and answered all our questions. He was great. Money and time well spent!

Keven is super knowledgeable about the history of St. Augustine and is an amazing storyteller.

He focuses on the real stories and details that you can’t just read on street plaques and signs, and he lets you know what what typical tourist information isn’t historically accurate.

He really knows his stuff, has lived in the area for close to 50 years, is a great presenter and highly personable and fun. This was a great way to learn about St Augustine… Kevin’s tour is a great value.

I had the BEST time on this tour. I'm a junkie for historical tours and Kevin's was the best I've been on. He is so knowledgeable and goes above and beyond to provide context for the REAL history of not just the city but the people responsible for so much of its beauty. I was too wrapped up in the stories and the tour to even remember to take a picture! Passing up the opportunity to learn from a true, passionate historian is a mistake! Do yourself a favor and book the best part of your trip with Spyglass Travel, you won't regret it!

Kevin kindly allowed us to join his tour today when he learned we had mistakenly booked a similar tour for a different day. And he was great! He has a vast knowledge of the history of the city and delivers the info in an informative and entertaining way. We felt very fortunate to join Kevin’s tour and highly recommend it to others who want to learn the history of this beautiful city.

Our guide, Kevin, who co-owns Spyglass Travel with his wife, is a very experienced and knowledgeable tour guide. He kept us all entertained and interested with his historically accurate storytelling. He switched seamlessly between Spanish and turn of the century American history as he navigated us through the city. We highly recommend this excellent tour, especially for those who prefer small group walking tours over the less intimate trolley tours.

Kevin from Spyglass Tours was excellent!!! The tour was scheduled to last for 90 minutes but we were mesmerised for over two hours with both his knowledge and unique method of delivery. He obviously not only knows his home town but equally loves imparting his knowledge to visitors. Historical facts were interwoven with anecdotes and personal experiences as well as how restricted development over the past century has protected the historic fabric of the city. If you only have time for one tour of St Augustine, make it this one!!!!

This is a very good tour for history buffs. Kevin knows his stuff! And he has a pleasant and funny sense of humor. He is an excellent story teller and explains history in an easy to follow fashion. He was thorough, almost too thorough with explaining St Augustine history. It could be abbreviated for some subjects like the conjecture about Flagler’s wives and other personal commentary. It’s a 1.7 mile walking tour through the city streets. Be sure to wear comfy shoes, wear a hat and bring water. We saw beautiful sites especially the churches, the fort, Flagler College and the city square and learned many interesting things on the tour. Although the tour was described as 1.5 hours, be sure to schedule 2+ hours, but I personally think it should be 2 hours max! It was a very hot morning and by 2 hours we had exceeded our saturation point for information, sun and heat. Stopping in the shade and being able to sit down a few times throughout the tour would have been helpful. All in all I would recommend the tour but be prepared if you are not used to the Florida heat and humidity.

What a fun way to visit and learn about the history of the "oldest city." Our tour guide was knowledgeable, and entertaining. We meandered through the town in a very logical way and got to see and learn about many of the important venues and the history of each of them in what seemed like a very private tour setting. There were only six of us in total so we felt very comfortable engaging our tour guide and asking questions.

Bring a good sized jug of water (on warmer days) and be sure you are wearing comfortable shoes.

Very reasonably priced tour that we augmented with a private golf chart tour and the hop on and off bus. The combination of all three over a two day period allowed us to get a great foundation for the city and then explore deeper in areas that we had interest once the tours were concluded.

We definitely recommend this walking tour.

I was visiting with my two teen daughters. I knew they wouldn’t be thrilled with a history tour but I pulled my mom card and decided to do this at the beginning of the trip. We ALL really enjoyed it!

Kevin is a great guide, the pace is easy, and the information is engaging. Kevin makes a point to note good restaurants, tourist traps, misinformation about the city, and worthwhile activities to do next. He even passed out his business card so we could text him questions about the city during our stay.

If you’re like me, it’s easy to get caught up in WHICH tour to take. Though I can’t compare from direct participation, here are some thoughts from observing:

I’m very glad we didn’t do the train tours. The speakers are extremely loud and distorted. There is no engaging with a guide and they seemed very impersonal. Some other tour companies had booths set up on corners and seemed very pushy.

Kevin’s group was small and personal. Kevin himself was friendly and engaging, not a salesman pushy type.

    Tips:

    1. take this tour at the beginning of your trip - it changes the way you look at the city and impacts which things you’ll prioritize doing.

    2. Bring a water. The tour ran close to two hours.

    3. Whatever you bring with you, pack light. Kevin is great at finding shade and places to lean or sit but there is a good deal of standing by nature.

I’m a bit of a history buff and loved this tour. My teens, who were indifferent at the start, ended up really enjoying it too. They probably could have wrapped it up a bit earlier, but I could have stayed for more! Ha! I highly recommend!
