- Joywc840 contributionsPerfect day! Highly recommend!Highly recommend this wonderful walking tour of St. Augustine - Alex was very knowledgable about the history of the area and shared quite a few interesting stories that we would not have known about otherwise. Along the way, he also provided recommendations for the best place to eat, drink and visit. Afterwards, we enjoyed a few of his recommendations and they were spot on! Our only regret is doing this on our second day instead of our first! He also does other tours that we will recommend to others and sign up for on a return visit - ie: food tours! We had 10 people on our tour and it was the perfect sized group.Written February 20, 2025

This is by far the best food/wine/cocktail/history tour I've ever taken. Went with my wife and adult children over Valentines Day weekend. Gary was an amazing host! He has carefully and thoughtfully curated the best food, wine, and craft cocktail venues in town, and as we strolled through old town from venue to venue, he regaled us with the history of the town, in a conversational, off-beat, and really fun way. Gary is a character in the best possible sense, and even will dip into stories of his own that somehow, someway related to the history, archaeology, and culture of the historical St. Augustine, as well as the present St. Augustine, as we strolled along.
Some tips: show up hungry and plan to skip dinner if your tour is late-afternoon. The food is amazing and there's alot of it! For parking, your best bet is to stay at an Airbnb or VRBO that's within walking distance of the old city. If not, plan on parking just outside of town at one of the tram services, and take their free shuttle - you'll pay for the tram but it will be worth it. If you MUST try to park nearby the meeting space, show up in the morning to find a spot. If you wait until just before the tour, you'll be out of luck.
In any case, you'll receive calls and texts to help you out the day of the tour - these guys are pros and won't let you down.
My highest recommendation for this amazing tour. You'll learn alot about the city, you'll eat and drink the best the city has to offer, and really enjoy yourself during this great tour!

We had a wonderful time on this walking tour enjoying our tour guide Debra Hayes historical insight and knowledge of St. Augustine. A very well planned tour that started at Casa de Vino 57 enjoying fine wines and a charcuterie board as well as learning of the historical nature of the property this establishment is located at, we then continued on Treasury Street where once again Debra impressed us with very specific historical knowledge by discussing how and where the original Treasury building was located and how at one point the street was walled for the security of entering the building. She took us by an escavation sight, we traveled on various streets stressing the significance of certain buildings to include the Greek Museum on St. George Street which she had us tour, took us to a lunch at Mojo Old City BBQ and explained why she selected this specific restaurant and may I say it was spectacular! From there we proceeded to the town square where she gave us history of Flagler College, the Alcazar and various other buidlings before taking us to Aviles street where she shared what the brass markeres meant on the sidewalks depicting the burial sights where a cementary was found to exist. The final stop and couldn't of been any better was Prohibition Kitchen where we enjoyed cocktails and a wonderful dessert.
We will have Debra give us other tours when visiting St. Augustine and highly recommend her to all visiting this great Old City.

We went on the food and drink tour with Russ Saunders and it was outstanding. We went to three restaurants, one for appetizers and wine, one for entrees and drinks, one for dessert and another drink. Food was great as were the drinks. We walked about a mile and Russ gave us a lot of information about the history and architecture of the city. We highly recommend it.

Let's start with the positives. The food was good.
This tour was overpriced and disappointing. If you visited these same restaurants on your own, you'd spend quite a bit less. So, how was the walking tour? St. Augustine being a beautiful historic city, we anticipated the tour would be informative, enjoyable, and enlightening. Garry, our guide, professed expertise in the city's history but talked more about himself than anything else. Our walking route was through the shopping district with party music blasting. Although bottled water is supposed to be included, it is not. Please bring your own. It is brutally hot in the summer, and on this tour you will be outdoors most of the time. We ducked into a small museum for relief from the heat. It was quite interesting, highlighting the Greek influence on the city, but we were rushed through without any time to enjoy it or any meaningful commentary from our guide. Our guide was very proud of this tour. We were told three times that this tour was #1 in the world. I can understand how that might have come to be. At the final stop, the participants were pressured to submit a review, not later, now. Is this fair? Garry actually looked over the shoulder of one participant to see what they were writing. In the privacy of my own home, I am comfortable giving an honest review. Save yourself from disappointment and look elsewhere.

This tour was a great success. Garry is a wonderful guide. I booked a tour for my family of 10 and we unfortunately ran into trouble trying to drive into town by the 2:00pm start. He accommodated us so well and pushed our reservations so we could make all the stops and still get in the history lessons. Garry went above and beyond and I was so appreciative for him making it all work out even though we were 2 hours late. He didn’t get #1 in the WORLD for nothing!! The man is a pro
Highly recommend booking this tour your first day in town as you learn so much about the city that can help lead you on to your next plans or dinner reservations

Our first time in St. Augustine and this gave us exactly what we were looking for: a great feel for the city, lots of great suggestions for places to go and things to do, extending far beyond the published stops. Alex was such a great and knowledgeable guide, infusing a tremendous amount of historical knowledge with the current day vibe of the city and food scene. You immediately felt like you were visiting an old friend who was showing you around!

Garry is a one of a kind tour guide. He has a plethora of unique knowledge about the city of St. Augustine that no other tour guide possesses. His incredible story telling ability brings ancient history to life. He has a great sense of humor and always knows how to engage with the group.

We recommend this tour to get an overview of the city's history and geographic layout. The tour was informative, and the food was excellent. We visited several different restaurants and each stop provided large portions of high-quality food and drinks.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and able to make many suggestions on how we should spend the rest of our time in St Augustine.
This tour should be your first stop when visiting St Augustine.

There is a line from one of Garry's poems that reads, "Where have all the special people gone?" Well, you meet them in his stories from his extensive knowledge of St. Augustine's history, both past and present. From the tastes of exceptional wine and food, and his imaginative descriptions of days gone by, you find yourself slipping into the past history of the city. If you are looking for a top tour in St. Augustine, this is the one you do not want to miss!

Fantastic time with Deborah and eating and drinking our way through St Aug. We had a ton of fun and learned a lot about the history of the city and fantastic places to shop as well. There were 4 folks in our group and it was easy to walk and plenty to eat/drink. It's a great way to get to know the city if it's your first time here and to get to know specific pointers for the next time that we come back.
I highly recommend this tour if you are foodie and want to try several different types of things throughout the city that are not tourist traps. Have fun!

Hi there! This will be our 9th annual couple’s trip we take every Jan around MLK weekend and we ALWAYS do a food tour. We are coming to St Augustine for the first time and want to book a food tour of course. May I ask how many restaurants\bars we’ll be stopping at. Assuming a quick bite and drink will be offered at each stop? thanks!
