Best paranormal activity in St Augustine
Lots of activity the night we went. It was a full moon after the eclipse and everything was active. Got alot of video to save and share. This was my second time doing this investigation and the staff are so helpful and knowledgable, especially Fran. I would recommend this to anyone interested in doing an actual paranormal investigation. See if you too can reach James......

      Amazing!
Me and my husband were lucky enough to be alone on the investigation. We had so much activity happening on every device besides the emf reader which had very little hits. Our tour guide I believe his name was Fran, and he was 100% great! We are currently in the process of listening and watching our footage and we are finding even more activity then ee originally thought. Most of our activity was in the female cells and solitary. We will be sending in our evidence for the staff at the old jail to see and hear as there was a lot of great interactions and responses.

      Worth the time!
Our guide was “Cornelius Shackles” & he was so much fun! So much history was detailed in his animated & entertaining stories. It was a truly horrible prison back in it’s day, and Cornelius really brought it to life for us.

The tour of the jail was very informative and entertaining at the same time. If jails were like that now, they might be empty.

      The Great Tour Guide Bobalew
Bobalew is amazing! He was very personable and was very genuine. The little jokes that he throws in make it all worth it! One of the best people I have met in St. Augustine so far!

      A Must visit
We had a brilliant tour of the Jail and our “prisoner” Cornelius was brilliant - I would recommend the tour to anyone - not only a great place full of history - but the “team” that work there all seem VERY enthusiastic about making your experience unforgettable - thanks again Cornelius.

Do not miss this in St. Augustine!
What a fascinating tour! Our tour guide, Bobalew, was knowledgeable, funny and very professional. It was a very historic experience, but definitely showed the tragedies that occurred as part of being a convict in those days.

      Super cool mail museum!
This was a fun museum to visit! I remember it vividly. Definitely do the tour and hear the history. My whole family went and we really enjoyed it. Cool photo ops too.

      Creepy even in the daytime
I was there with a 4th grade school trip. The kids loved it! The tour guide was fantastic!!!! He kept the children engaged and paying attention, while sharing some scary things! We got the impression that this old jail is really haunted!

      Interesting History!
ok the bad, it's right where the tolley tours begin, so it was overrun with people and hard to find parking. but the tour of the jail itself was interesting, and informative! i can't imagine being in that solitary confinement or in the cells in the upper level. our tour guide Babalou was funny and knowledgeable.

      Really fascinating and historic
This was very historically informative. The docent, Patrick, was funny and kept everything moving. Not a dull moment. Wow, the penal system in the past was brutal. Really enjoyed them.

      Lottie & Henry
Take this tour with Lottie and Henry. Lottie was perfection with her accent and story telling quality. She was the best. Henry was also very good at talking with the quests.

Bucky, our inmate and tour guide provided us with a great and informative tour. However for the cost, I found it wanting. Granted they have to pay the tour guides and other such fees, they could have one tour guide standing inside the jail to answer questions as most of the Information was strewn about on placards along the wall. Granted, the tour guides give you a nice interactive history lesson, but for the cost of the jail and the store next to it, just for 2 adults it was $50. Not very cheap. And that only gives you access to 2 places and will kill a good hour of your day. Then walk down the street to the fountain of youth, pay another $18 per person and you can kill another 2 hours. Prices in St. Augustine are ridiculous. I'm not cheap, but for the money you spend, you expect more.

Participated in the Old Jail tour on 24 June 2021. Our tour guide was Felix and he did an absolutely wonderful job. He was very knowledgeable and you could tell that he was very comfortable in front of a crowd. He interacted well with children and adults alike and was able to keep things light-hearted when needed.
The tour information was very interesting and, even though some of it could have been graphic or gruesome, Felix was cognizant of the age differences in his audience and took that into account when presenting his information.
The pricing of the tour was a little steep but the overall experience (due to the guide Felix) was worth it. I recommend taking the tour. Request Felix if you do; you won't be disappointed.

We went expecting to learn a lot about the history of the jail and the area. The Old Jail is definitely a historic place with an interesting history, but the way it is presented you feel like you are in the middle of a big tourist trap. I think most people do this as a part of the cheesy trolley tour, however we just walked up and bought tickets for the jail only. It was New Years weekend so St. Augustine is packed with tourists. We had to wait about 45 minutes for our tour, which was fine given the number of people there. While we were in line, we got to hear other guides giving the outside part of the tour and we learned that all tours are not the same and the info you get will be different depending on your “guide,” which is really an actor performing a role instead of a docent giving out historical information. This is really too bad because instead of giving everyone a consistent experience, yours will vary depending on which actor you get. We did still enjoy the tour and learned a lot about the jail, but it is disappointing that they dumb this down with artificial fun instead of just giving historical tours.

My husband and I did the tour this morning. We had Deputy Otis. Stayed in character, funny, not aggressive and gave great information! So interesting! Well inside the jail my husband started having anxiety and had to step out. Deputy Otis quietly asked me if everything was okay. I explained my husband’s condition and he said he understood. While upstairs and finishing up the tour, we were free to kinda roam around, Deputy Otis grabbed a pardon paper and I noticed he left. I continued to read and learn and look. Next thing I know, I see my husband. Deputy Otis went downstairs, found my husband, gave him a pardon (still in character) and talked with him and said that he could look around at his leisure. My husband said he walked and talked with him till they found me walking around. I can not express how grateful I am in how he handled the situation and had grace and went to find my husband and give him a full experience personally. What a great man of character to express such grace and kindness. He didn’t have to go the extra mile but he did. He made the experience very special and my husband feels like he got to finish experiencing the jail. I believe most people wouldn't have noticed or thought of seeking my husband and giving him a personal tour and experience but Deputy Otis did and it did not go unnoticed. Thank you!!!! I can not express enough how much this meant to us!!!!!!

We had a decent experience at the Old Jail. For the cost, we would have preferred more information and less focus on making it entertaining (though one of us enjoyed the performance). Enjoyed it overall, but wouldn't go again.

Tour was very informative and actually a little better than we thought it would be. My wife, my son and myself all thought it was. Deputy Otis was awesome. He stayed in character the whole time and provided plenty of laughs along with some good history of the Jail. My wife missed the very last room of the tour (The Men’s cellblock upstairs) because she received an important phone call. When my son and I went out to meet her there was Deputy Otis filling her in on what she missed despite our tour being over at the point. Highly Recommend.

Also, the staff at Old Town jail were very mindful of the current Covid 19 pandemic. Deputy Otis and all the other “inmates” who were providing the tours all wore bandannas over their faces which actually went along with their characters’ costume so it never takes you out of the experience. They also made sure that every group in your respective tour spread out from the other groups.

We went on the daytime tour of the Old Jail. Benny was our guide and he was awesome. He was great at bringing the past to life, and also made us laugh a few times to break the grip of incredible creepiness that permeates this very haunted place. Highly recommend and be sure to ask for Benny. He'll be wearing black and white stripes.

Our tour guide was Ruth and while she tried to be funny I feel like she only dragged out the tour while we were melting in the hot sun. A different tour guide might have helped. I feel like this was way too overpriced for the tour. I would have been happy just walking through and reading about it. I appreciated our tour guides enthusiasm, but she came across rude.

Bobalew was an EXCEPTIONAL tour guide for our tour of the Old Jail. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable about the town and the jail itself, but had the comedic timing of a pro, creating both an informative and entertaining experience. He made sure that each guest (all ages!) was interacted with and felt part of the tour. I believe that this tour is an integral part of the history of St. Augustine and well worth the excursion!
