Homer Simpson made it all worthwhile
My first visit. Initially a little underwhelmed as it is dated but then we got to the Simpsons area which, for a fan like me, was awesome. Then we got to see Homer walking down the street and got a photo. That made my holiday. But it was pure luck we saw him. Great to see the Blues Brothers too and the parade was fantastic. Still have good memories of the day, though not sure it is worth a return visit.

VIP tour which was far from vip. Angry Kate from guest services.
VIP tour of universal park. My husband surprised me with a vip tour of the universal park at Orlando, and unfortunately that surprise was very quickly turned into an extremely unpleasant experience. We’ve travelled all the way from the UK as part of her honeymoon and have had a great stay in Orlando, and had left the visit to universal as a way to end a beautiful trip on a high. We had asked several members of staff for directions to the meeting place for vip tours, and not one member was able to direct us to the correct location. After several unsuccessful attempts we made the decision to go to guest services, and were greeted by the rudest human I have came across in my life!! Whilst waiting in the line, Kate from customer services yelled at us to step back behind the door, which we obliged to, even though there are no signs that this should be the case. She then passive aggressively also said that some people have no respect for others privacy. We were then called forward by another member to be dealt with, whilst doing so Kate then yelled that we shouldn’t move forward until asked to do so, and then preceded to speak with the customer she was dealing with to say that we weren’t listening. At this point I did ask what she was saying and she continued to aggressively say that we should only come to counter when called even when I explained that we had been asked to come forward. My husband and I were very taken aback by this and did explain this to the adviser who was dealing with us. When we did this Kate then preceded to shout that we were just annoyed that she had told us to follow instructions and were trying to “incite her”. We were eventually directed to the correct place, for the vip tour, with Todd our tour guide. Credit to Todd he did help us cheer up and is an absolute delight, however the experience with Kate was absolutely awful and made the whole experience very un enjoyable. Having already bought a 2 weeks pass and an additional vip tour it has been extremely expensive and certainly does not feel very vip!! It’s also very concerning that such an angry person who lacks patience has been placed in guest services. I would suggest also that other staff should be trained and educated about new products and experiences you guys offer as lack of knowledge does portray incompetence and looks very unprofessional.

      Fun
Clean, walkable, plenty of activities for all age levels. Mobile food ordering was great. Harry Potter worlds were soooo detailed. Some attractions are dated but still fun to explore. The mobile app with ride times was essential.

      Beware Kate from guest services!
Beware Kate from guest services! We had the vip tour and gotten a little lost trying to find the correct entrance. Cast members sent us to the wrong guest services but surely guest services would be helpful right? Think again! We were explaining the situation to our team member only for Kate to accuse us of inciting her. She’s dangerous and needs to be fired asap

      Great themeing
Great park with amazing theming. You honestly feel like you are in a film set in some areas. The Bourne Identity show is a must see! There seemed to be a lot of simulator rides in this park and I'd say Disney is better for people who are not fans of rides

      Universal VIP
We did the VIP experience and it was so much better than the DisneyWorld VIP. Besides getting us on every ride (as many times as we wanted, really loved Hagrid’s ride), we got a visit with the Grinch (he was amazing!) and Universal has food! We had three meals that day that were included at restaurants of our choice. It really was fun and thank you Brittany@the Vacationeer for all her great suggestions.

      Amazing Universal
Just returned from a 2 week vacation back to the UK after a 10 year absence. This time though with a 7 year old granddaughter in tow. She loves everything Harry Potter and had an awesome time visiting the Harry Potter world and travelling on the Hogwarts Express. We queued for over an hour for the Hagrid ride only for it to be delayed so that was disappointing. The Jimmy Fallon ride through New York was excellent and there wasn’t a big queue for this attraction so we we repeated it a few times during our stay. The Macy’s Holiday Parade was magical and was definitely worth seeing. Overall a great experience and left great memories of our time spent together there.

      DO NOT USE TRIP ADVISOR
I bought tickets with my locator on in Orlando, Florida. California was NOT shown until tickets were purchased. When we got to the park, it did not work. This was obviously a regular occurrence because Universal had a plan and gave us discount tickets. When I called to get money back, I was put on hold 4 times and told they were "working on it" then refused to reimburse via email. It was a total scam. If they have a plan to keep you on hold while you are actually in the park, it is obvious this is a way for trip advisor to make money and not deliver. DO NOT USE TRIP ADVISOR!!

      Employee went insane on us.
We had a great day at the park but the lines were insane. But to some degree that is expected. What gave them a horrible rating was when my friend tripped in a dark pathway and fell into a nearby employee. Neither of them fell or were hurt and my friend immediately apologized , but the employee started screaming that my 5 foot tall friend had "hit" her and it hurt. She called over her manager who told my friend to be " more aware of her surroundings because touching an employee is inappropriate. One woman falling into another woman by accident does not deserve a reprimand. We were afraid the manager was going to kick us out of the park. Ruined the whole trip. That employee was insane and the manager was just as reactionary. Definitely not Disney.

      busiest yet
we went late mid October /November and found the parks extremely busy when they are usually quiet . there were too many construction walls up in both parks and some always seem to need work done on them . usually very good it is in my opinion better value than Disney .i try new rides each time i go and do enjoy the mummy which is my current favourite. universal are constantly changing and am happy for this to continue .

      Thrill rides ✅ Ticketing ❌Toddlers❌
So I’ve been a few times to universal and love all the big rides but this was my first with my 1 year old twins. Not a lot for them to do, we are staying at Disney but still a long day in the pram for them. The ticketing system is years behind disneys so I finally thought having QR codes on the app would stop all the nonsense of paper tickets how wrong was I. First roller coaster i have to scan my express pass then get given a paper locker ticket and paper express pass? Surely they’ve heard of magic bands? Get with the times. Also because I booked the tickets I had all the tickets on my app so when our party split up they were funny about my sister using a screen shot of her ticket even though she’d had a picture taken the same day to move parks? Something else that wasn’t at all clear the parent ride swap! On Hagrids ride I was first told that we’d have to queue with our baby twins in the pram until we reached the family room in the queue where we could then actually ride swap. My reply? Why can’t you do it like Disney where the other half who has the kids returns once the first parent has had a go. Oh we do that also ask for a ticket (recurring theme here). Also think alot of the parks are looking a bit tired very 90’s and need modernised. Another park coming but surely redevelopment is also needed? Big Thrill rides awesome ✅ That’s about it!

This was my favourite park of the holiday in the end but only because of being able to get into Harry Potter & other rides without an insane wait. At times, it was 90mins or longer for the popular rides but towards the start & end of the day's it was more like 20-40 mins waiting. If you can afford the express pass its worth it. Didn't manage to get on Hagrids Motorbike ride & this one isn't an express pass option but the other HP rides were amazing. Good to have free small lockers at relevant rides. Can take food in but not in a cooler. Can be a long walk from car to parks. Hogwarts train goes between the two & is well worth trying 8n both directions if the wait is not too bad. Note that Diagon Alley is hidden behind a wall, look for people wandering into it near the tube station. Huge crowds at all HP bits of the two parks. Tip: buy any two matinee tickets (between 11 & 6) on your way into the parks & get a refund on parking which makes it much cheaper ($15.98 instead of 26) & you can either go or not, we did see the film so effectively parked for free.

We went to Universal over Memorial Day weekend and it was a total train wreck. We waited to get in the parking lot for about forty minutes. We paid for prime parking to make up for all the wasted time.

Then we paid extra for the express pass 2-park tickets only to be turned away and sent to guest services bc the app didn’t show the bar code. The line at guest services took forever. They are clearly understaffed. We were sent to yet another guest services line because we had the express passes! Also took ages! We spent nearly 2 hours just trying to enter the park! When we shared this with Jackie at guest services she smirked, didn’t even apologize and was patronizing. This would never happen at Disney.

Once inside several of the rides didn’t work, when they reopened they were backed up so the express line on some rides was still a FULL HOUR wait and two hours without the express pass! We also saw people jump over and sneak in to the express lanes and then convince the workers to just let them on if there was a check point and it worked. We felt like complete suckers for paying for the express pass that still left us in long lines and that other people who didn’t pay could just sneak in to.

There were long lines to buy water, to use a restroom, to get a butter beer- it sucked.

Horrible day. Avoid this place, it’s a total disaster!

So this was our first trip to Universal studios since it originally opened decades ago. First impressions were it is crowded and chaotic and not nearly as well organized or thoughtfully laid out as Disney. There was 0 order to getting into the park, simple rope lines could help keep everyone where they need to be.

You absolutely can not do the parks without the express pass. The system is incredibly flawed and after paying 145.00 for a ticket shelling out another 70+ to get an express pass is a joke. There are not enough attractions at the single Universal Studios Park to justify that level of cost. There are so many rides that are the same with the slight rocking of a bench and computer screens all over. We waited an hour and forty minutes to ride Escape to Gringots which at least had some actual ride elements of a roller coaster.

Diagon Alley is beautiful and well done but the crowds made it nearly impossible to experience or even go into buildings.

Springfield is well themed and the attention to detail is appreciated. The donut stand ran out of donuts and the food court lines were long but tolerable. The app would not work at all so we were unable to try to mobile order and pick up. The food wasn't bad for theme park food. Flaming Moe drinks were fun for the kids.

The woody woodpecker coaster feels like a direct rip off of goofy barnstormer. It's a cute ride but it is a 52 second ride(we timed it) for a hour long wait time if you don't have a express pass.

Basically everything felt crowded and sort of half thought out. It was a letdown for sure.

Just mind blowing. They have 3 parks; Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Islands of Adventure and Volcano Bay. Volcano Bay is a water park, other two are theme parks. If you are a crazy Harry Potter fan, you MUST visit both the theme parks. We went during a non holiday season in February during a week day. We were able to finish both the parks in two days without taking express pass. There is a Hogwart’s Express train that takes you from one park to another but for that you need ticket to both parks wherein you can visit both the parks on same day. Butter beer in the Hogwart’s castle is a must. I would suggest finishing Harry Potter rides in Universal’s Islands of Adventure first as soon as you enter Universal. Go as soon as park opens, lines start growing between 11 to 2. Shreik in Universal Studios Florida was a literal torture, we did not like it. You WILL get completely wet in Popeye’s ride, so make sure you carry additional clothes for the ride. There is a dryer outside the ride for a $5.
Volcano bay water park was just fun. It has multiple tube rides, they check your weight every time before you ride so that it is safe to ride. Aqua Coaster ride was the highlight. It is a roller coaster water ride which allows minimum of 2 and maximum of 4 riders per tube. They have a wave pool with beach like sand and chairs. There is a lazy river that you can relax on a tube. There is also a crazy river with water flowing at a faster rate, you have to wear life jacket to go in. There is a 80 degree slide from the top of volcano mountain. You stand inside a tube and the floor beneath your legs opens and you slide down fast. Almost every one complained that it scratches your back, I could see everyone’s back getting red rashes. Overall universal studios was a total fun. I highly recommend if you are visiting Orlando.

There is a Bus stand for Universal. This place is between universal studios entrance and universal parking. Free shuttle buses run to universal hotels. There is also a to and fro free shuttle for Volcano Bay park.

We loved the 8 hour private VIP tour. Our guide, Taylor, made our day perfect. We booked the tour so my elderly father wouldn’t have to wait in lines. Taylor worked tirelessly to make sure we had a perfect day, planned just for our needs and personality. The ability to ride whatever we wanted without waiting was awesome! The day also included three huge, very nice meals. We recommend using the restaurant vouchers for the Chocolate Imporium because they don’t limit their menu. Lambardi’s limits what you can order with the meal voucher, and considering the cost of the day, that was unacceptable.

Starting this review as I’m at the park (Saturday 11/14/2020)... I’ve only been here for 30 minutes, and it’s been such a turn off... (getting through the temperature screening, security check, entrance line) SO CROWDED!!! The crowds are similar to before covid, almost like there’s no maximum limit with the capacity. Lines to get into the park were so crowded, so it’s hard for people to physical distance. There shouldn’t be an exception for the day of the week- just because it’s Saturday isn’t an excuse for it to be more crowded than normal. I definitely don’t feel safe here. (I was at DisneyWorld the past 4 days and the crowd/physical distancing handling is way better there. You must reserve your days before going to the parks, which I think is a much better idea.)

Physical distancing in the restaurants good. Stores: Absolutely impossible to physical distance inside stores, there’s no regulation of the capacity, there aren’t any clear indications of entrances and exits.

People are eating and drinking things in line with their masks off. Some aren’t following the physical distancing markers on the floor.

I want to give a shout out to the workers, they’re really trying their best to keep people safe and deal with people who don’t physical distance/wear their masks properly. The workers look drained from the crowd that’s been going on today. Some workers aren’t wearing proper masks, some have openings around their chin area. Universal should provide their workers with a standard mask or managers should make sure their workers are wearing the proper mask. If I worked here, I wouldn’t feel safe due to the crowds.

    Overall, I honestly wish I didn’t come!

All, as a fan of Universal Orlando and an experienced customer, I wanted to address some of the post and some tips to make for a better experience.

    PRO'S AND SOME TIPS
As like Disney, you do have to pay more for a better experience and connivance, that's just they way these parks operate. You do need to make reservations for sit in dinning (Like Disney) a few weeks before your tip if you want to get in and out quick with very little wait times. This can be challenging as you do not know what the weather will be like or how you will feel that day but do your best.

Express passes are the way to make the most of your time, book a hotel where they are included. I am glad that last minute express passes are very expensive because if everyone had one it becomes the regular line.

With express passes and staying at an early entry hotel, you can do the parks in the morning, do lunch and a dip at the pool back at the hotel and head out for dinner and more park time later or do all 3 parks in 3 days.

At Volcano Bay, get the cabana as they have a server bring you food and meals it worth the 150/200 us dollars.

Bring a bag in the park with bottled water

    CON'S
The food carts have always been far and few for whatever reason and under staff even before Covid. Would like to see this improved.

Toilet paper has been a problem for some of the restaurants and does take 15/20min for them to get more, I would think this could be solved?

Lack of shade in the parks, would like to see more seating with umbrellas etc.

I have experienced line jumping as well, I would like to see a more pro active role in staff for stopping this with more crowd control at the entrance as well could even just be ropes....

In the end the best experience is to stay as the Hard Rock (Stay in the Club level if you can afford it (~$580 a night). It comes with free food/drink through out the day that can serve as breakfast and lunch. The Hard Rock is one of the exclusive hotels so it includes express pass, early entry, and the walking distance to the parks is like 8min. My family will be going back July 15-21 (2021), can't wait and hope this helps.

Painful, irritative and troublesome service from the park. Each ride is more than 60 min wait time(wait 60 min under hot sun and have a ride for 5 min) . You have to buy the full fare of the maximum priced ticket offered or else they will make sure u will leave park disappointed. We bought 4 day promotional offer at 320$ per person. And we were not able to complete atleast one park for two days. Terrible experience. Six flags would be far better cheaper and far better thrilling.

We arrived in Orlando collected our bags and headed to the universal desk to sign in for shuttle service the the Cabana Bay Resort. We waited 20 mins before the shuttle arrived then rode around in the worn out van for 93 minutes before arriving at our hotel. Complete inefficiency on the part of the driver and whomever schedules the stops. Bad first impression. That sums up issue #1.

We purchased everything we were offered as far as Express Passes and Early entry to the parks. On day 2 of our trip we planned to enter the park at 7. Once we arrived it was obviously PACKED. Super LONG lines. We had no idea where to go and had a hard time finding an attendant to assist us. Once we did, we were told no one is getting in even with an early admission pass. "back of the line please Sir". So we waited. Day 3 same thing. I approached another attendant and explained we paid for early entry and were in line with people who had not yet purchased tickets. "Back of the line Sir". Later that night I called Universal Customer Service and explained our issue. The lady told me that the park had totally screwed up. She advised that on the next day we don't take no for an answer as she could see what we had purchased and it was everything that could be purchased. Day 4 and 5 we had to shove and push our way to the front and demand the person at the gate investigate our tickets closer. After that we were in. Took a few days to learn the ropes but once inside the park we found the Express Pass worked well and we are glad we purchased them. Early entry is another story.

We used to go to Universal and Disney every other year when our kids were young. As they got older, they preferred Universal since it was geared more towards teens and older. My husband and I were in the Orlando area and decided to go to both Universal parks, given our fond memories. Without a doubt, our experience this time was completely different and not in a good way. We went on a Monday and Tuesday at the end of February (not President's weekend) which was supposed to be a low time in the parks. Wanting to make the most of our time, we purchased the express pass for both days. What we paid for the per day price was much greater than the low price they show on the website. Between the per day price and express passes for both days, we spent quite a bit of money. On top of that, the food prices are insanely high. Despite having the express pass, we always waited 15-30 minutes or longer. The main attraction Harry Potter Escape from Gringotts was shut down 3 different times while we were in line. We finally got on at the end of the day, but only after having spent hours waiting and going back and forth to try and get on it. Many people were complaining that it happens all the time with that ride. Both parks were incredibly crowded. I can't imagine what it would be like during peak times. They clearly sold too many express passes and it wasn't worth the money. Although, I can't imagine waiting in line for hours at the top attractions, as that is what we were seeing on the app as the wait times. We both had motion sickness at the end of each day and that has never happened to us before. The rides are well-done, but there aren't many options for rides that don't have extreme motion and spinning, so it's back to back all day with that.

It seems to me that Universal has made a decision to put profits much above the experience. We will not return again.

Hello, I'm saddened to hear that you were disappointed with your experience at our theme parks due to our pricing and our attraction wait times and downtimes. Our goal is to always provide our Guests with an experience they could fully enjoy at a fair price. However, we have sophisticated attractions, which feature state-of-the-art, one-of-a-kind technology; this occasionally results in ride downtimes, which cannot always be diagnosed and repaired immediately. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Please be assured that your feedback will be formally documented and shared with the proper management teams for internal review. If you would like to discuss your experience further, I encourage you to speak with our Guest Services Team at 407-224-4233 or guestservices@universalorlando.com. When reaching out, please be sure to provide your username for reference. Thank you for taking the time to share your honest review. We hope to hear from you soon. -Katie
