Homer Simpson made it all worthwhile
My first visit. Initially a little underwhelmed as it is dated but then we got to the Simpsons area which, for a fan like me, was awesome. Then we got to see Homer walking down the street and got a photo. That made my holiday. But it was pure luck we saw him. Great to see the Blues Brothers too and the parade was fantastic. Still have good memories of the day, though not sure it is worth a return visit.

VIP tour which was far from vip. Angry Kate from guest services.
VIP tour of universal park. My husband surprised me with a vip tour of the universal park at Orlando, and unfortunately that surprise was very quickly turned into an extremely unpleasant experience. We’ve travelled all the way from the UK as part of her honeymoon and have had a great stay in Orlando, and had left the visit to universal as a way to end a beautiful trip on a high. We had asked several members of staff for directions to the meeting place for vip tours, and not one member was able to direct us to the correct location. After several unsuccessful attempts we made the decision to go to guest services, and were greeted by the rudest human I have came across in my life!! Whilst waiting in the line, Kate from customer services yelled at us to step back behind the door, which we obliged to, even though there are no signs that this should be the case. She then passive aggressively also said that some people have no respect for others privacy. We were then called forward by another member to be dealt with, whilst doing so Kate then yelled that we shouldn’t move forward until asked to do so, and then preceded to speak with the customer she was dealing with to say that we weren’t listening. At this point I did ask what she was saying and she continued to aggressively say that we should only come to counter when called even when I explained that we had been asked to come forward. My husband and I were very taken aback by this and did explain this to the adviser who was dealing with us. When we did this Kate then preceded to shout that we were just annoyed that she had told us to follow instructions and were trying to “incite her”. We were eventually directed to the correct place, for the vip tour, with Todd our tour guide. Credit to Todd he did help us cheer up and is an absolute delight, however the experience with Kate was absolutely awful and made the whole experience very un enjoyable. Having already bought a 2 weeks pass and an additional vip tour it has been extremely expensive and certainly does not feel very vip!! It’s also very concerning that such an angry person who lacks patience has been placed in guest services. I would suggest also that other staff should be trained and educated about new products and experiences you guys offer as lack of knowledge does portray incompetence and looks very unprofessional.

      Fun
Clean, walkable, plenty of activities for all age levels. Mobile food ordering was great. Harry Potter worlds were soooo detailed. Some attractions are dated but still fun to explore. The mobile app with ride times was essential.

      Beware Kate from guest services!
Beware Kate from guest services! We had the vip tour and gotten a little lost trying to find the correct entrance. Cast members sent us to the wrong guest services but surely guest services would be helpful right? Think again! We were explaining the situation to our team member only for Kate to accuse us of inciting her. She’s dangerous and needs to be fired asap

      Great themeing
Great park with amazing theming. You honestly feel like you are in a film set in some areas. The Bourne Identity show is a must see! There seemed to be a lot of simulator rides in this park and I'd say Disney is better for people who are not fans of rides

      Amazing Universal
Just returned from a 2 week vacation back to the UK after a 10 year absence. This time though with a 7 year old granddaughter in tow. She loves everything Harry Potter and had an awesome time visiting the Harry Potter world and travelling on the Hogwarts Express. We queued for over an hour for the Hagrid ride only for it to be delayed so that was disappointing. The Jimmy Fallon ride through New York was excellent and there wasn’t a big queue for this attraction so we we repeated it a few times during our stay. The Macy’s Holiday Parade was magical and was definitely worth seeing. Overall a great experience and left great memories of our time spent together there.

      DO NOT USE TRIP ADVISOR
I bought tickets with my locator on in Orlando, Florida. California was NOT shown until tickets were purchased. When we got to the park, it did not work. This was obviously a regular occurrence because Universal had a plan and gave us discount tickets. When I called to get money back, I was put on hold 4 times and told they were "working on it" then refused to reimburse via email. It was a total scam. If they have a plan to keep you on hold while you are actually in the park, it is obvious this is a way for trip advisor to make money and not deliver. DO NOT USE TRIP ADVISOR!!

      busiest yet
we went late mid October /November and found the parks extremely busy when they are usually quiet . there were too many construction walls up in both parks and some always seem to need work done on them . usually very good it is in my opinion better value than Disney .i try new rides each time i go and do enjoy the mummy which is my current favourite. universal are constantly changing and am happy for this to continue .

      Sticker shock, but GO!
November is the perfect time to go! We're still experiencing sticker shock so be sure to check prices. All I can say is, "it is what it is!" If wanna play, ya gotta pay. We had a great time. Awesome shows, rides and food. Lines weren't terribly long. We were on most in less than 20 minutes.

      Vaping and marijuana use
The amount of vaping and marijuana smoking was overwhelming. We witnessed people rolling their own and lighting up in line. These people were not even trying to hide it. The lines are so close, there was no escaping. There was more visible security than I have ever seen at other parks, yet they seem not to notice or care. Definitely not a place to take your kids unless you are ready to discuss drug use and poor decisions.

      Not even close to Disney
Very unhappy with my experience here. Most staff members are rude or short with you. You can tell it’s not about an experience but about them making money. Everything is over priced food and drinks. Do not waste your money on the express pass tickets. They do not stop selling them and the line is as long as a normal ride line. Also we had a person in our party in a wheelchair. Some rides they separated our group. Very disappointed in this park. I’ll stick with Disney.

Lies and Empty Promises @universal Studios!
Review of Universal Studios: A Disappointing Experience I recently visited Universal Studios with high hopes, expecting a magical day filled with excitement and unforgettable memories. Unfortunately, my experience was anything but. Despite the promises made from a previous trip that was less than desirable including us witnessing a fight at our universal Studios Hotel. Essentially promises were made in the form of a fast pass on your next trip and when that day came today, we were told it was one fast pass for one ride. That’s interesting considering we paid full price for an all day pass. In summary, Universal Studios fell far short of the expectations it sets. With the amount of money spent on tickets, I expected a well-organized, guest-focused experience. Instead, I left feeling disappointed and misled. Until Universal Studios addresses these issues and prioritizes customer experience, I would not recommend a visit.

Best day this year so far! We went yesterday, 9/6/2020. I took my 14 year old son, 6 year old daughter, and 3 year old son. This was their first time. We all had an equally great time. My little guy even got to ride 10 rides which I didn’t think was possible at Universal Studios, and loved every one especially Harry Potter. All my kids in unison said it’s way better than Disney! Posted wait times were overstated. We never waited for any ride for more than 25 minutes and it goes by so fast. One of my concerns was that we would not be able to ride the Harry Potter ride which was part of the Virtual Line rides, and we didn’t have express passes. I kept checking throughout the day for times to return to no avail. I already gave up on riding it, and was really disappointed, and we were getting ready to leave when they opened up the stand by queue!!! I was SO HAPPY even though the wait was close to 2 hours long. I didn’t care. I was sure it was worth it. However we didn’t have to wait even 5 minutes because we were one of the lucky few that got pulled out of the line by a Harry Potter angel named MIRANDA and taken right up to the ride by a “secret passage” with an elevator, and when we got to the boarding area we were the first and only ones there and at my daughters request got to ride in the first row! I cannot in words describe the gratitude I felt and actually cried after we got off the ride because I was so touched by Miranda’s actions and her interactions with my kids. She said she’s taking us a secret way because my 3 year old had the cutest mask on and kept it on the whole time with no complaints. I will forever be grateful for this experience that not only made my whole day, but our whole trip! Because of this we still had time to ride the minions ride and shop at gift shops. The only reason for 4 stars is because our dining experience was less than perfect. We got to the Krusty Burger at 2pm and did not get our food until 3:43pm. And that was after sitting down at our assigned table with a number for over 20 minutes, at which point I had to ask an associate more than once to please check on our order which was placed over and hour ago. With 2 young kids that act like they haven’t eaten in months, while watching everyone around them eat, it was not a pleasant and relaxing lunch that I anticipated. Other than, 5 stars all the way!! I am now seriously considering season passes as we live in Palm Beach County and I can totally see coming here at least once a month, and definitely for special events.

Hi Kate, Thank you for your review! It's so great to hear that you and your family had an awesome time at our park this past weekend! I loved reading about how Miranda was able to make your day extra special, and please rest assured that we will make sure your feedback is shared with her leadership team, so she can be recognized for a job well done. We will also make sure to pass along your experience at Fast Food Boulevard along to the appropriate Teams, as we continue to make improvements to the offerings in our parks. We can't wait to see you again! -Meaghan

I was in Orlando for work and decided to go to Universal Studios Florida to see the Harry Potter (Diagon Alley). It took a good 45 minutes just to walk from the parking lot to the location and then there is only one ride in the Harry Potter area – one ride for the mob of people that are there visiting. It was just shops and overly priced food. I ate at the Leaky Cauldron and spent a fortune just for myself for a small dish of cottage pie that came with a salad. The line was so long just to get food. In the total part of this park, there are a small amount of total rides and the majority are inside where you sit in a seat that moves (Shrek and Minions). There was one big roller coaster and it was a long ride and tons of twists and turns and very fast. If you have neck issues, you should consider avoiding this ride or try to sit with your back as straight back against the seat as possible which is not easy to do with all the movement. There were lots of characters around the park, which would be fun for little kids. But I just think the amount of money they charge is so not worth it and the walking is outrageous. You go through an entire area of restaurants (City Walk) before even getting to the park. Be forewarned, if you are overweight, you may have a very difficult time getting on the Harry Potter ride – Escape from Gringotts – the seats are very small and the bar must come down all the way; they had to turn people away who were really not even that overweight – so shame on Universal for creating a ride without proper seating for all guests; they could easily remove two seats on each car to mark for a larger person. The security to get into any Universal area was quite long when I was there and everyone was bunched together in a central area and the lines started almost when you were at the location to be scanned – very poor planning. Would have no desire to ever return. I had been to the other park a few years ago and again would have no desire to go back.

We spent one day at Universal with a ticket good for both parks in order to see all of the Harry Potter attractions. First, you will need to buy a ticket for both parks to see both Harry Potter London and Harry Potter Hogwarts. I will say that both areas are nicely done, especially Diagon Alley.

Expecting long waits for the Hogwarts Adventure we arrive around 8 am for a 9 am opening and were among the first 50 people to enter the park. We made a beeline for the ride only to be told there was an hour or more delay. We decided that this would still likely be the shortest wait of the day we stayed in line for 2 and 1/2 hours before giving up. The ride did not not start until 4 pm in the afternoon. We later learned that the ride had been down the day before. Why would they keep you hanging on if they knew there were serious problems?

Having lost two hours of time, we had to prioritize the rest of the day. Rides are a mixed bag. Skull Island was a lot of fun. The Mummy and Poseidon's Adventure are dated. Jurassic Park was closed.

Despite being at the park in late January when crowds are fairly low, lines for the main attractions were at least 30 - 50 minutes.

The Universal version of a fast pass is an additional $79 and omits the Hogwarts ride! Did not seem to be worth it.

If you want to ride 5 or 6 of the main attractions you will spend 4 - 6 hours in line.
It is a tough slog to have fun.

We just got back from a Florida trip and had a great time at Universal on June 14th. As we had limited time, we did the VIP group tour. I did the VIP group tour a year ago and compared to post-Covid, the experience was just as fun. If you are on limited time (say you can only spend a day at the parks), the VIP is a great option.

VIP sounds pricey, but when you add in all the benefits it's worth it. It's not just a fast pass, you're literally given front of line access to every ride during the tour (even on a slow day this will save hours of time). You also get breakfast and a full lunch included (starter, meal, dessert).

The main differences are first that you currently have to wear masks. If you've not worn one in a park like this all day, I recommend you try this out first. I recommend a highly breathable mask and it can't hurt to bring a motion sickness tablet if you get woozy, as it can take a little adjustment depending on the heat. Second, the tour guide used to be able to put your items in a backpack and now they have to be placed in lockers. Third, the buffet-style options of the past for food are now a sit-down service for each meal. However, you get more than your share of food, so I did not see this as an issue.

Finally, if you can get Paul for your tour I would highly recommend him! Paul had some great experiences and stories that made it another wonderful tour. He was so kind and an expert at gauging the group's mood and interest in terms of what we wanted to do during the day. I would be happy to do this tour again and especially with Paul.

I was really unhappy with our day at Universal. The park was dirty, the employees were mostly unkind, social distancing was not encouraged or enforced and the park was packed to the brim. This was in March of 2021. It is hard to find somewhere to sit. All of their popular rides require you to enter into a virtual queue early in the morning. Something else our party did not know was that you cannot ride on basically any ride with your personal belongings. For rides like the Hulk, this makes sense to me. But a ride like Men in Black?? It would not have been a big deal EXCEPT my boyfriend had a backpack that does not fit in their free lockers. So we paid $2 for a bigger locker. Basically it felt like we were paying $2 to ride rides at a park we paid $200 to be at already. Mind you, we rode almost every ride in all four Disney parks this same week. Not once was his backpack an issue at Disney. We really do not care for Universal after this and we would all recommend Disney 10x over Universal for a pleasant, clean, FUN experience. Universal was not fun for us at all.

Let me begin by saying my wife and I love US. But, the whole idea of virtual lines, and only opening certain times throughout the day, is a major problem.

US has implemented a procedure of designating times (11:00, 2:00, 4:00) when a virtual line will open up for certain rides, including the major attractions like Hagrids... The problem is that at the stroke of the hour, the lines are already full. We attempted, for four days, to get a place in a virtual line to ride this ride. After spending thousands of dollars on a vacation, researching, reading, and watching several videos on the new ride, we were excited to finally experience this world class ride, but to no avail.

When we were watching our phones changes to the hour, we were forced to continually "refresh" our request to secure a spot in the virtual line. Literally, we were hitting refresh as fast as we could, yet, we were not able to get a spot. When the screen changed a couple of times for us to select a time slot, we thought we made it in only to find out when we submitted our time that those times were already full. Just an insane system.

I understand if this was done to avoid standing in lines due to Covid, which is why I gave it two out of five stars. But if this is the new way of standing in lines, only the quick fingers will ever make it on a world class ride, especially in a park that is as popular as US.

If you are a huge Harry Potter fan, those parts of the park you would highly appreciate. I would give it a 3/5 for that specifically.

However....be prepared to wait a minimum of an hour for every single ride. Went in at 9, was able to ride two rides before lunch time. Social distancing was highly enforced when waiting in line. When you exit the ride, the main common areas are out of control. You’re literally running into people because it’s so crowded. If you’re worried about COVID, you definitely don’t want to come here. Everyone has there mask on, and that’s about it.

We were willing to pay for a fast pass at its advertised base rate, but they increase the rate/day based on the demand. $190+ for a one day fast pass!?! No thanks! Virtual Lines on the app are a joke. Either it won’t let you pick a time at all or you pick a time, the app takes forever to load, and then it says the time you just clicked on isn’t available anymore. (My phone is a new, updated iPhone, so I know it’s in fine working condition)

Many of the rides are some variation of sitting in a seat and watching the action in 3D. At least Disney has more interactive, real rides; not majority screen based with 3D glasses.

We’re going to try to go back at night to see if that helps ride times go down. If not, we’ll happily look at other things to do in Orlando and spend our money somewhere else.

Hey Naomi, Thank you for your review. I'm so sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your visit to our parks. Our attractions Team Members are specially trained to monitor our queues throughout the day, ensuring that all wait times are as brief and as pleasant as possible. I apologize for any inconsistency you may have encountered. Due to the high demand for express access during the busier periods, pricing has been determined to ensure that a sufficient supply is available for advance purchase and at our front gate. I am also sorry to hear of the frustration you experienced with our Virtual Line system, it is never our intention to inconvenience our Guests. I sincerely apologize if this negatively affected your visit. I have ensured that all of your feedback is formally documented as well as shared with the appropriate leadership teams for their review. I encourage you to contact our Guest Services Team at 407-224-4233 or at GuestServices@universalorlando.com, so we can see how we can assist. We hope to hear from you soon. - Natalia

Too many people were let into the park the day I visited Wednesday April 21st. I didn’t think a Wednesday in the middle of April would be packed but Universal offers special passes to Florida residents which makes the situation worse. The park was miserable because of the long wait times. Too many gift shops and restaurants and not enough rides. Three of the rides had to stop at different times because of technical difficulties and a 4th ride had to completely shut down after we wait in line for 30 minutes. This is the worse theme park I have ever been to. We paid around $170 per ticket to visit both small parks which should be one big one. Then we couldn’t really ride more than a couple of popular rides all day long because of excruciating wait times. I was going to buy an express pass for $67 the quote online from Universal’s website but the lady said because of the number of people in the park they would be $240. Omfg so a family of four costs around 700 to visit and express passes for just one park would be $960. It would be $1660 for a family of four just to have an enjoyable experience at the park not including the outrageous food or parking costs. Save yourself and read my review...maybe you won’t make my mistake.

Hey there John! Thank you so much for taking the time to provide this candid feedback on your visit with us. I want to first off , sincerely apologize for the experiences you described as that is never how we want our Guests to feel. We strive for our Guests to fully enjoy their visits with us and saddened to hear that this is not what you described. We have sophisticated attractions, which feature state-of-the-art, one-of-a-kind technology; this occasionally results in ride downtimes, which cannot always be diagnosed and repaired immediately. In those instances, we devote all of our resources to restoring affected attractions to operational status as soon as safely possible. I can imagine how frustrating this can be and deeply apologize for any inconvenience, We greatly value our Guest's feedback and I will be sure that all of your feedback is formally documented as well as passed along to the proper leadership teams. If you have any additional feedback, please feel free to reach out to Guest Services at 407-224-4233 or via email at GuestServices@universalorlando.com. Thanks again! -Nick

This was our 3rd and by far worst experience at Universal. We had a park to park pass and only rode a total of 6 rides due to long wait times and shortened hours . We stayed on Universal Property which was wonderful with the exception of over priced food options. Anyway, even with early park entry it was very disappointing. We did look into fast passes and found out they were far too expensive (@$240 per person) which is way out of budget after paying the park to park admission. Lines were long the park was over crowded and people were not observing social distancing. We tried getting reservations same day at the restaurants on city walk and they were booked 3 days out .

Due to the new "virtual line" you will be discriminated against if you do not have a smartphone. Basically the people who are the richest with the fastest phone are the only ones that will be able to ride the new Hagrid ride. We talked to a family in line who all had the new Iphones and they were able to go on the ride multiple times because they reserved spots for their whole family on their different phones. Meanwhile I've gone to the park, paid for parking every time, and haven't been able to go on (I do have a smartphone, it's just not a very expensive fast one). If you call to give a review they say the best they can do is tell you is to go during the week (impossible for working families, I'm a teacher), get there early (I've done this every weekend I've gone), and keep refreshing the app (really takes away from the fun of universal to have to be staring at your phone constantly refreshing, just for you to never be able to get on the ride). I've been to Universal/IOA 5 times since this ride open and still have never been able to ride this ride because of the "Virtual line". I've had to pay $26 every time for parking, but if you tell Universal that their only option is "pay us more money for a more expensive pass that includes parking, then you can come up here more often, but you still may not get on the ride" I don't mind waiting 2+ hours to ride a ride I really want to ride. It's absolutely heartbreaking to not be able to get on the ride because your poor and don't have a good enough phone so they won't let you even get in line.

I called guest services to try to understand better how the line works and the lady I spoke to Mikayla was so rude, in the middle of me talking about my experience she cut me off and said "Well if you let me finish I can tell you my tips (what I listed above)" Basically she didn't want to hear any feedback about the park, only read a script she is told to read to the customers. I asked to speak to someone else and she said she is capable of getting my message to others. I don't know how she plans to do that since she wouldn't even listen to my experience. I always loved Universal, but there current virtual line system, rude employees (some are very nice, but some are extremely rude), and lack of customer service (they used to be much better).
