My husband and I had a great time on this tour and highly recommend it. We are in our mid thirties and were visiting Miami for our first time on vacation. We were debating about whether to do a group tour or just explore on our own, and I’m really glad we ended up doing the tour because we got to see and try so many things that we would not have thought of on our own without spending lots of time doing extensive research. It was also great to not have to deal with a difference in opinion between the two of us as to where we should go but to just have someone telling us where to go. :)

If you have more time to spend, you could do the tour one day and then go back another day to spend more time at your favorite spots. Or you could come back in the evening of the same day to visit one of the restaurants or live music clubs. But for us it was the perfect amount of time. We went back to a shop after the tour ended to purchase an item we had seen on the tour.

We especially appreciated our guide Martica’s stories of growing up in the neighborhood and her insight into the culture and history of Cuba.

We were also grateful that they were able to accommodate vegetarians…the food we ate was all very delicious and filling. We ate fried plantain boats stuffed with seasoned peppers and onions (at a place where the meat eaters ate Cuban sandwiches), spinach and cheese empanadas (the others ate pork empanadas), freshly made churros, pan de yucca, and pastelitos de guava, and we drank mojitos, fresh pressed sugarcane juice, and Cuban coffee. And we got full sized portions of all the food—not just tiny bites to taste.

We definitely got our money’s worth and more and will be doing more cultural food tours in the future because of this experience!

Andi is THE BEST tour guide. She checked with us individually hours before the tour, to make sure she knew of our food allergies and alcohol tolerances. I am hearing-impaired, and Andi happily wore a microphone I gave her, in addition to the microphone she uses for everyone on the tour. She checked frequently to make sure I could hear everything she was saying.

Andi also did an impressive job getting us engaged as a group. We had many hilarious conversations (introducing ourselves, Q&A with storeowners), and we also shared a thrilling moment when a lady in our group caught a wild iguana in the coffee shop.

The 2.5 hours really flew by. We stopped at so many places I lost count, but I was not tired at all. We walked maybe 4 blocks at most, and there were plenty of restrooms and water offered at every stop. I also loved the historic information Andi shared about murals, historic figures, storeowner families, locals, and more. I wish we had done this tour earlier on our trip (we did it on the last day), and I wish there were longer tours offered in Little Havana!

Hoji, our tour guide, was the best ever. His knowledge of the Cuban culture, history and food was excellent. On top of that, Hoji had a great sense of humor which made the tour super fun. We got to see sugar cane pressed, then we tasted a sweet drink made from the juice, and that was just the beginning. Hoji gave us insight into the Cuban cigar as we watched a cigar being rolled. We tasted an authentic empanada and guava smoothie, a tradional Cuban coffee, a delicious Cuban sandwich and a refreshing mojito with a sugar cane stick to press the mint leaves. This was topped off with an guava cheesecake ice cream treat. As we went to each site we learned about the art and architecture of Little Havana I would absolutely recommend this tour, and hopefully you get Hoji as your tour guide!]

My family (including 2 younger boys) thoroughly enjoyed this tour! Mirka was our guide and she was extremely knowledgeable about the local cuisine, history of the area, and tips for shopping. We spent over 3 hours with her walking up and own the main strip sampling a REAL mojito, cuban sandwich, cafe cubano, curros, sugar cane juice, ice cream, and other assorted treats. This was a great experience that I would recommend for anyone looking to appreciate great food and culture!

We are so happy that our Little Havana Food and Walking Tour was a successful family affair! Yes, Mirka does know every nook and cranny of the neighborhood and we are so happy that she was instrumental in providing a great afternoon. And you said it well-the mojito we serve is indeed the REAL deal! We look forward to your return to Miami very soon.

Ashley was a fantastic tour guide. She was patient and well informed regarding the culture, people, and food of Cuba. She was inclusive with all tour attendees, giving everyone in the tour a chance to get acquainted. This was an amazing and educational tour, the food and drink outstanding. I learned so much about Cuba and the people of Little Havana. I recommend this tour to anyone wanting to learn and understand the plight of the Cuban people.

My boyfriend and I booked the Little Havana Food and walking tour in Miami. From the reservation process to the actual tour, everything was phenomenal. Our tour guide, Robyn, had such great high energy, she made the tour very personal and we felt comfortable with the other people in our group. She was very knowledgeable and gave the tour a personal touch by telling her own family stories. Each food stop was at an authentic Cuban eatery, made fresh and tasted amazing - my personal favorite was the Cubano sandwich! Although there was a ton to see, the walk itself was not very long distance, which was nice. When Robyn discovered it was my birthday, she arranged a nice little surprise cake at one of the resturants, which was a greatly appreciated! For our first food tour, this one set the bar high, we had a great time and definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking for some kind of combined activity or packing alot into a short trip in Miami!

Awwww, you have me blushing and smiling from ear to ear! Thank you for taking so much time to craft this beautiful review of our food tour. I adored having the two of you with me and I deeply appreciate the lively contributions you made to our gregarious group! We are so pleased that every step of the tour process was smooth as glass for you. It was my absolute joy and honor to acknowledge your birthday and thank you for the opportunity to create a special moment for you. We appreciate being your very first food tour and we are thrilled that your expectations were met from our food offerings, to the stories, to being with such a fun group of fellow travelers. Please come back soon so I can spoil you some more with another hot and juicy Cubano sandwich!

We really enjoyed this walking tour. It started at a memorial for the Bay of Pigs invasion. He told us what happened and what went wrong: the ships carrying patriots arrived at the entrance of Bay of Pigs. But they discovered a coral reef blocked much of the entrance (Bay of Pigs had not been in the original plan). So they entered the Bay in small boats, but it wasn't the same. They were supposed to hold the shore area of the Bay for 72 hours, and then the US military would come. They almost held it that long (69 hours), but some locals were happy with the new government because it had sent teachers to teach reading and such. So the patriots were captured and had a rough time in Cuban prison. This is only from my memory, and I may have details wrong. But this is what I think we learned. Then were learned about the poet Jose Marti, who wrote a poem about a young lady from the Guantanamo area. It became a song, "Guantanamera." Celia Cruz sang one of the most famous versions of that song. There is a big, new colorful mural of her on the walk. We stopped for papaya juice and a pastry filled with fruit and cheese. He took us to a store where people rolled cigars (nice photo op), also to a store for Cuban coffee (one secret: they use brown sugar to make it sweet, gives it a slight carmel taste). Stopped at a public park where folks were playing dominos (the "2nd most popular game in Cuba" after baseball). We ended with lunch: a cuban sandwich (roast pork, ham, melted cheese, pickle, creamy mustard, all on a fresh roll; also shredded beef in a sauce called "ropa vieja). He told us other cultures are moving into Little Havana- there is now a Mexican restaurant along Calle Ocho. So time will tell if it remains predominantly Cuban. Watching the chickens roam around the neighborhood was fun.

It was a great experience. Our guide, Ariel, was both knowledgeable and entertaining in his explanation of the history and culture of Little Havana. I would recommend this tour to anyone with an interest in Little Havana, it's history or food. Mojito, Cuban Sandwich, Cuban Cafe and other treats were provided on our 2+ hour walking tour.

We thank you so much Valorie for this kind and thoughtful account of your day with us in Little Havana! We appreciate the time you spent organizing your thoughts and we were honored to have you with us! You mentioned two things that were important to you- knowledge and entertainment. Your guide Ariel ooozes with both! His knowledge knows no bounds and we always say he should have his own show! We are content you were in his care! Do come back very soon!

Even though we had already spent a couple of hours in Little Havana (aka Calle Ocho) a couple of days earlier, we still wanted to do this tour to get more first hand knowledge about the area and its food. Smart decision. We met tourguide Karlee for our 11.30am tour on Sunday Dec 6 2020. Though not Cuban herself, Karlee has many Cubans in her family so for sure she knows the area, the food, the history, and the culture. Karlee keeps the tour moving at a rapid pace (which is desirable for us) but she still allows for the slowest in the group to still be comfortable and not pushed. There was not one minute wasted on the 2.5 hour tour, which actually started a couple of minutes early and ran a couple of minutes over, for our 9 tourist group. We cannot imagine a better tourguide than Karlee who speaks very fluent and clear English, and even though not Latino, she can speak Spanish at a million miles per hour, as evidenced by her interaction with locals and the Latinos on the tour !! It's great that the cost for all food, drinks, and tips (to the establishments) are included in the tour price. Don't even think about using the other tour companies which do a similar tour if you can get booked on this one, which I think is limited to 10 tourists so book early !! By the way, all the food and drinks were excellent. You will not leave this tour hungry or thirsty. And they cater to vegetarians and pescatarians. There was absolutely no 'push' at any time to purchase anything from the restaurants or shops visited, and we all know that this is a bit unusual, but very desirable. Also, I think Miami Culinary Tours is a woman owned small business, and seems to be adequately surviving the Covid Pandemic !! Hand sanitizer was regularly used and always available at many opportunities, and temperature checks were made. Plenty of opportunities for restroom stops.

The Little Havana Food Tour has been a highlight of our trip to Miami! Karlee was very knowledgeable, outgoing, and the 2.5 hours we spent with her flew by. We enjoyed so much delicious food, my favorite was probably the empanadas or churros. Come hungry, because you will eat a lot of food! We also had the best mojito I've ever had during our tour. The tour size is perfect, and we had a lot of fun getting to know our fellow group members. We learned a lot about Cuba, the Cuban culture in Miami and would strongly recommend this tour to anyone!

To those worried about covid - masks were worn at all times drinking and eating wasn't happening.
