Sunset Cruise with a Pirate Flare
Absolutely worth it! The captain and crew were really great, and the owner was on board too! I even got to sail the ship (and yes, we actually sail - not the power sailing the catamarans do). The crew likes to fire a small canon at passing ships which makes it even more fun. This is not a booze cruise! If you want to get drunk, go somewhere else. They have water and snacks available and a cooler if you want to bring your own drinks. I would definitely do this again in a heartbeat!

      Memorable Key West experience
The sunset sail was fabulous! We had considered other cruises, some of which included food, drinks and music. Out on the water, we were glad that we were not on the noisy boats which we passed in the harbor. The BYOB insured that we had our drinks of choice. The small number of passengers allowed the excellent crew to mingle, as well as be attentive to the guests. The owner was on board, as well, and obviously takes pride in his ship. The ship was clean and well cared for, and the crew experienced. Highly recommend!

Sunset on the Jolly Rover II!
A gracious and welcoming crew, great sailing, and an uncrowded but fun cruise made for a great evening in Key West! BYOB drinks worked out perfectly in the provided cooler. Lots of photo opps and of course cannon fire (!) -we will return!

      Fun sunset sail!
Fun sunset sail! We had a wonderful time (family of 4 with two young adult children) on this beautiful two mast topsail schooner for a sunset sail. Friendly and capable captain and crew, and the owner was also on board and told us some great stories. We went under sail and really experienced the sea. For fun the schooners would shoot at each other with their cannons, and our son was able to take the helm for a while. We saw a beautiful sunset with an unobstructed view. It was nice to be able to bring our own drinks and snacks, and they provided a cooler and bottled water. We definitely would go on this sunset sail again if we return to Key West.

You will want to slow the sunset for more time onboard
The captain and crew were first rate. Lots of commentary, humor and stories. The trip was very much smooth sailing. Finding the ship and boarding were easy with a parking lot at the dock. I've been on several sailing excursions and I think this crew did the best with the sails and looking after guests. The sunset was very good. We left having enjoyed all of the trip. Highly recommend this.

The only thing missing, was Jack Sparrow🏴‍☠️
What a fabulous sunset experience. Once aboard you know you are going to be a part of a must do again cruise. Watching the small crew hoist the sails and set sail toward the beautiful sunset, with no music, snacks, water, and the pleasure of interacting with the crew, was exactly what they promised. With a limited number of passengers, it made it so easy to engage with the other passengers to share this incredible schooner. The firing of the canon, let your imagination allow you to be a pirate for the evening. By far, it was one of the best excursions I have chosen.

A sunset cruise that hits all the points.
It was a magical night on the ocean. The wind was light, dolphins were about, the sunset was gorgeous. Elijah, Gracie and Drew were easy going, informative and hard working. The Jolly Roger is a great sunset cruise.

Best experience ever - highlight of our trip!
Definitely recommend! The ship is so beautiful and the experience is unique! My parents and I have been on many boat rides but to be on a ship and actually sail without a motor for some time was an unforgettable experience! The ship was also in tip top shape! I was also given the opportunity to pull on the ropes that brought one of the sails up and my parents and I had our pic taken behind the “wheel.” The crew really went out of their way to make sure you’re having an enjoyable time. Bill, the ship’s owner, talked to us for a long time during the trip. Very nice humble man who takes pride in his ship. Kudos to also Drew, who was so pleasant to talk to on the phone when booking our tickets. Chris, who steered the ship, was so sweet along with Chase, who also worked on the ship. They fired a small canon after the sun went down. It was so cool!!!! Best place to see a sunrise in Key West aboard an original ship, not in a loud boat with many people drinking. We were able to bring our own food on board and were provided chips. Please come out and support this small business. There is one major company that monopolizes on most of the tours out in Key West shutting out the small businesses. Thank you and you won’t regret it! One of the highlights of our trip to Key West! ❤️❤️❤️

      Amazing! Must do!
This was an amazing and unforgettable experience. Captian Elijah and crew Chase and Drew were very informative, funny, personable, and shared their passion for sailing. We saw dolphins, an amazing sunset, cannon firing on other boats, history of the keys and boats, and so much more. It was family friendly and we even got to steer the schooner. You can also BYOB. Captian Dan who checked us in was also very friendly and spoke with our 12 year old daughter getting her pumped up for the sail. Earlier in the day we did a cataraman sail with Fury (another company) and were so disappointed. The crew there was not friendly and we didn't see them smile once. Please save your money and do this sail instead, it was completely the opposite. We wish we had done this sail earlier in our trip to the Keys so we could do it again while we are here but we are leaving soon. They have discounts for your second sail and the third is FREE. We will definitely be doing it again next time we are in the Keys! Enjoy your honeymoon Elijah!

      Best sunset ever!
Captain Elijah is the best! What a great evening! The atmosphere of the schooner, the intimacy of a smaller number of passenger’s, the interaction of the crew with us was fantastic. Pass on the big party boat sunset cruises and book you evening on the Jolly II … you will be thankful you made the choice.

A thrilling and beautiful sailing cruise.
A sunset 2 hour cruise on This tall ship in Key west is one of the best decisions we made on this trip. I can’t stop talking about how wonderful the crew was and what an experience we were treated to. This sunset cruise was the highlight of our trip. The crew went out of their way to make sure we had wonderful sunset views. Watching the skilled crew operate this amazing 9 sail sailboat was worth the price of admission alone. Plus being on the Atlantic Ocean with the wind filling all the sails and the breezes so beautiful was an experience we won’t forget. The icing on the cake was seeing dolphins fly and arc out of the water along the jolly rover. This was an amazing ride!! Don’t miss the chance to sail this schooner.

Another great sunset in Key West
We sailed on April 18,2023. Our captain Elijah and crew Drew and Chase were great. They took great care of us and all of the passengers. It was a great evening for watching the sunset and the captain made sure the ship was in position for watching the sun go down. My wife even got to steer the ship for a bit. Maybe a few more canon shots would be cool. "Sail on Captain Ron" Bob & Beth Randall

      Fantastic Voyage, Yarrrrrr!!!!!
The crew on Jolly Rover 2 was entertaining and informative, and really put on a show for us throughout our day sail. Having the beautiful red sails hoisted and riding through the Key West breeze was just what we needed to truly relax. Thanks!!!!!! Wish this trip was a Never-ender!

      Wreckers Race Tour
This was totally different from the previous boat rides/tours we'd been on...no dolphins or sunsets but a part of an actual race. I don't know how many of the other boats take on passengers during a race event. That being said I do think the America II had extra people on board but that boat is in a class of its own and specifically built for speed. The owner, captain and crew were outstanding....the only downside was the waves out there were pretty good ones today and I don't think anyone left the boat totally dry. It was a cool experience 😎

We booked our sunset cruise online. When we arrived at the pier to check in, things were a little chaotic, as another group was boarding a different boat at the same time, in the same location. Several customers seemed confused as to whether we should be boarding or not. That being said, check-in was quick and easy. Once we boarded the ship, we were able to choose our own seats. There were coolers available for those who brought their own drinks aboard, and cold water for those needing drinks. Crew members even brought around a light snack at one point. The men running the ship were polite and kind, and seemed to have tremendous knowledge in the craft of sailing. The boat was clean and well kept. They did make attempts to let the children aboard be involved as part of the crew. The crew really focused a lot throughout the trip on "firing the cannon." We did see some dolphins. The sunset was quite pretty. I would have liked more narration during the trip, like more info about the island. However, it was very hard to hear what the crew was saying due to no speaker system. All in all, it was a positive experience that I would certainly recommend, especially to those with young children.

A beautiful evening on a beautiful boat. Clouds and the terrific Crew gave us 3 or more separate SUNSETS with a beautiful finish. Owner Bill, Captain Elisha and Mary Brett and Mark did their usual great job hosting everyone. That is why we take the Jolly II Rover for day sails and sunset sails as frequently as we can. And the progressive discount is a surprise for most guests.

This cruise was well worth the time and cost! We chose this "ship" because it was a schooner and also because it wasn't a "party boat." It has sort of a pirate theme about it which was fun. There was plenty of seating (the party boats seemed to be standing-room only.) The crew explained about the various sails as they were raising them. They provided water and chips, and you could bring whatever beverages you wanted on board. We may have just lucked out on the night we went, but the schooner was not very crowded with other guests, so we were able to move about and get some great photos. I definitely recommend this if you're looking for a sunset cruise that's a little quieter and more comfortable than most of the ships/boats.

Another fantastic evening aboard the Schooner Jolly Rover II . As always a friendly and accommodating crew welcomed us aboard and took great care of us . Love that you can byob and enjoy our sunset with whatever libation suits you. Last evenings sail was full of laughter and camaraderie and one of the best sunsets and the sky was aglow in orange.
The evening winds allowed the crew to raise all six sails and wind took us through the harbor and back , with a couple attempts to board by other boats thwarted by the Schooners cannons . Truly a key west experience not to be missed.

So glad we decided to go on the Jolly II Rover for a sunset sail. The captain and crew were pleasant, engaging, and professional, and they clearly loved being out on the schooner sharing the art of traditional sailing. Being out on the ocean with other schooners sailing around us felt like we had been transported through time to the days of pirates and wreckers. It was exciting and romantic, and the sun set the sky ablaze as it seemingly sunk into the water, with only the silhouettes of sailboats contrasting with the fiery oranges and reds in the sky. It was like being trapped in a post card of a Key West sunset. The best part of the sail, though, was firing the cannon (with blanks, of course) at “enemy” ships, along the waterfront of Mallory Square as we sailed by, and then lighting the big cannon as we returned to the harbor at dusk! The blast from the cannon firing sounded like rumbling thunder rolling along the wharves lining the harbor… where else can you step into a past era and enjoy the smells, sounds, and sights on the New World? What a great cruise! We can’t wait to come back and sail with Bill again! Thanks for the highlight of our vacation!

I had the privilege of sailing on this wonderful schooner last evening. The view is breathtaking. This is not a booze cruise. This is real sailing. In a world where everything beeps or buzzes, I could hear the waves and the wind and the seagulls. I could smell the ocean and the clean air. It's a thrill to watch each crew member work with skill and teamwork to raise and lower the sails. They made us feel comfortable and safe while telling us stories with enthusiasm and humor. This is one of those rare experiences that will stay with me for a lifetime.

We loved everything about this sunset cruise! The boat was beautiful, the crew was fun, friendly and knowledgeable. We particularly enjoyed how nice it was to have a more peaceful and personal experience. We got to help hoist the sails ( your choice) and even sail the boat. If you are looking to avoid the loud and crowded sunset cruises, this is the perfect choice!

We had a top-notch experience on the Jolly Rover! I would highly recommend sailing with these knowledgeable folks. The vessel is an absolute beauty, and watching the sails hoisted was exhilarating. Captain Elijah maneuvered the Rover around the Key West Harbour area with mad skills, and arranged a PERFECT sunset for us! ;) We enjoyed chatting with the ship's owner and both deck hands too. We loved every aspect of this beautiful trip! Thank you for having us!

There is no better way to experience the glorious Key West sunset than to sail on board the Schooner Jolly II Roger - and sail was the operative word! Skillfully guided by the wonderful crew under full wind power sail in the waters off Mallory Square this was two hours of wonderful relaxation, sightseeing and fun. Set in the era of the pirates, patrons are invited to participate in setting the sails and firing the cannons. While water and small snacks are provided, this is essentially a bring your own food and drink (including alcohol) adventure, therefore you can bring along food items and refreshments that suit your own taste. Highly recommended.

The sunset sail was phenomenal! The crew was friendly and upbeat! The boat was large enough to find folks to talk with or a quiet spot to enjoy the beautiful weather and sunset. I cannot recommend this experience enough. If you do not book this experience, you are missing out on a wonderful time.
