      Fun
What a fun little kayak trip through the mangrove. I highly recommend; if you’re into that sort of thing. The kayak was, also, very comfortable.

      A Fun Exploration
We had a great time exploring the mangroves, even the really small tunnels. We were given a map and explored on our own. The staff was friendly and helpful. Next time I would love to do the tour and have a guide to explain the area.

      A perfect day
The staff was super sweet and helpful, they helped me launch and land the SUP, had all the equipment I needed for the paddle, and even gave me a map of the area. I had so much fun exploring the water and mangrove tunnels, and the views were gorgeous!

      Great Eco Tour
We were two couples, and we opted to get double kayaks. Our guide, Heather was informative, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and friendly. We had a wonderful time kayaking, through the mangroves including really cool tunnels. The waters were shallow and the kayaking was easy, even for beginners. Heather showed us starfish and jellyfish which we were able to see up close. (even hold in our hand, if we so choose) We also saw a lot of beautiful, large birds. The waters were calm and the scenery was gorgeous. We would definitely do this again!

      Key West Kayak Eco-Tour
We had a great time on this kayak tour with Rachel as our guide. The Lazy Dog staff were very helpful in getting us into and out of our kayaks. Having a launch pad (out of the water) was an added bonus. The waterways and mangroves were really interesting to see. Rachel kept a nice pace and was very good with the inexperienced kayakers. She stopped multiple times to talk about the sea life which very much added to the trip.

Such a great time. Our guide, Ellen, was so knowledgeable and fun. She went out of her way to show us the wildlife and share about the complex ecosystem in the keys. Highly recommend this kayak tour.

      Great time
Super fun 1/2 day pontoon w 3 of us and captain Lindsey. While it was cool out she got us the mangroves for some light fishing and just hanging out in calm and beautiful keys water. Cooler and blue tooth speaker and a very nice captain made for great fun. Thanks

      Great Kayak Tour
This was our second kayak tour with Lazy Dog and Heather. First trip was January 2023, second was January 2024. Heather was our guide both times. The second tour was just as fabulous as the first. We got to see the queen conch as well as other different marine life. Highly recommend this tour!!

      Beautiful eco tour!
We did the eco tour with Lindsay. She was knowledgeable about the area and so fun! Fantastic time! Just so beautiful being out on the water. We did see a lot of birds and were able to kayak. I was lucky enough to see a sea turtle! This is a well worth it experience-spent several hours boating around. Didn’t feel rushed at all. A perfect relaxing day.

We reserved a SUP tour but were told tide too high earlier in morning so they expected current too rough on way back and we were only two of group to SUP. Being we were not experienced they highly recommended against SUP and highly encourage kayaking.

Site info about SUP tour seems a bit misleading. This SUP tour would not be for beginners even though the current/tide was just fine in the afternoon as they travel quite ways. Plus If you are the only SUP on tour maybe at a different pace than kayakers.

Quite a long ride. Go under quite a few mangroves. Very doable for beginners as pace is not bad but I guess there can be issues with winds/current and high tide which we didn't experience. Getting through mangroves can bet a little interesting depending how big group is and how many kayaks.

Not sure how good of a SUP board tour this would have been unless quiet experienced.

Guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Saw a little bit wildlife and learn about Key West too.

Lots of sun only shade is under mangroves.

Felt kayak back support was very poor. Ask for maybe an extra life vest to use for support.

My wife and I participated in the kayak tour on 4-14-21 with tour guide Payton. We had an incredible experience out there! First off, the staff was laid back but professional and knowledgeable. Payton took her time to explain in detail what we were seeing throughout the tour and one could tell that it is not just a "job" for her, but a true passion. She was very personable and pleasant to speak with and made it a point to converse with all parties that were on the tour with us. We were even able to hold a snail and starfish! In addition to interacting with our tour guide, the fellow kayakers that were out with us that day were also very pleasant and fun to be around, and we both enjoyed conversing with them. This was our first time in the Keys and I would highly recommend taking this tour as it shows a side of the island that you would not normally explore.

My husband and I went on the lazy dog eco kayak tour based on trip advisor reviews. We were not disappointed! It was wonderful- an experience that the whole family could enjoy ( kids over the age of 8).

Bethany was our guide and she was an excellent resource on the mangroves, local wildlife and all things Key West. She went out of her way to point out wildlife and catch it in her net for us to see up close.

I would highly recommend this tour to couples and families of older children who want to learn a bit more about the ecology of the keys and want to paddle through the beautiful mangroves.

Pro tip - bring a zip lock bag or waterproof case for your phone. They have dry boxes for rent but a ziplock bag would do the trick.

I did this eco tour in 2019 and it was wonderful. My arms were a bit tired by the end but it was a wonderful experience. Steering the kayak through the mangroves took a little practice because they can be a bit narrow but it certainly made me want to buy a kayak to go paddling around my local lake. The staff was extremely helpful and our guide was very friendly and informative. I found the price reasonable and the swag you can purchase was pretty cute. They do offer kids and military discount but I am unsure how many people the military discount will apply to if there is only 1 service member with ID. I will be back in KW in May 2020 and this time I'm taking 4 family members with me. The more the merrier! This a must-do so you aren't just stuck on Duval and the bar scene.

I can't remember the first time I took this tour but I completely fell in love with this tour. The guides are so knowledgable about the area that they are taking you through and they encourage you to ask questions! When they find something interesting, they make sure to stop. Not only do they explain how important a certain species is, if they can. they will also pull it up out of the water so you can actually touch it.

If you are reading this review, you possible have done this tour before, but I've got to say...do it again! Every time I take this tour, Sue's team has taken me to a different place to explore! They always keep the tour informative and different. Another bonus if you have taken the tour in the past, there is always a chance one of their dogs will come with you! They are also offering other things to do. They have boat tours which offer other options if you want to tour the mangroves! I really want to do once I get back and life some what gets back to normal!

I do recommend that you take the tour in the morning if there is a chance the afternoon becomes windy. The water can get a bit rough depending on the weather, which is another great thing about this team. If the water could get rough in spots, they will recommend that you use a double kayak if you are taking the tour with someone.

While you can rent a kayak for longer and for less, I figured I might geI t lost without a guide, so I signed up. Overall, the trip itself was interesting, albeit mostly through an urbanized part of the local channels and mangrove swamps. We saw some cool sea life, but the information we were provided about the environment and the wildlife had several errors, and my questions were not really appreciated; thus the trip seemed rote. I also resented the fairly hard sell, at the end, for a significant tip, with our guide telling us that she worked for tips, which left me wondering why, if I could rent a kayak from the same place for $25 for 3 hours, I and the other 8 folks paid $50 each for this tour. Next time I'll try another one of the companies.

Kayaking here was easy and comfortable. The pace was slow with frequent stops so our guide could point out various aquatic species along the way and talk about the ecology and a little bit about the evolution of the city and the mangroves and salt ponds.

Kayaks, paddles, and life preservers were well maintained and seemed of good quality.

Pace was too slow for my taste but was probably perfect for some of the other members of the party. If I were to do this again, I would take the unguided option, which lets you go at your own pace with a map.

They sell water for $1/bottle and will rent you a dry box for your phone if you want one. I didn’t rent it so I don’t remember the price.

Staff were friendly and helpful, positive and knowledgeable.

My fiance and I took this excursion earlier this month. Our guide, Bethany, was fabulous! She expertly pointed out wildlife, helped the environment by picking up trash out of the water, explained everything in detail to us. We loved this tour! You will not be disappointed!

We loved Bethany she was such a great guide she taught us about a lot of the wild life in the mangroves, saw a lot of jelly fish, fish, sharks and other wildlife. She really made everyone feel comfortable kayaking and it was really laid back and easy paddling. Check them out you won’t regret it :)
