- emmittf20240 contributionsBreathtakingAbsolutely fantastic time, beautiful breathtaking views of the sunset, a far better sunset experience than watching it fr9m a land based park. Munchies, drinks, entertainment, and crew were spot on! My only (minor) issue was a few kids treating the boat like a jungle gym, crawling under the mast ropes which the captain about lost his mind. They should have been watched closely, but we're free to run all over the boat like a playground. Surprised someone didn't go in for a drink.(fall into water). Aside fr9m this one annoyance we had a great time! Definitely recommend!Written November 29, 2024
- Con110 contributionsFun Times on Commotion on the Ocean Sunset tourWe had a fantastic time! There was plenty of drinks and food for everyone. The crew was flawless. They answered questions, topped up drinks and raised sails all while ensuring everyone’s safety. The music was top notch and the band had everyone dancing. This was our 2nd excursion with Fury (we previously did a snorkeling excursion out to a reef) and we would not hesitate to book through them again.Written November 29, 2024

Often they “hold back” on giving you drinks There was a proper bar & the staff were serving all night - no problem ! Food healthy, tasty and plentiful you could go back as many times as you wanted & it was excellent Music -the Band played all night a good mixture of music We all had such a great time -I just wish it went on for longer !!! - DaddySnake0 contributionsGreat way to see the awesome Key West sunset from the waterThis was a nice little cruise through the gulf waters northwest of Duval Street. The cruise was about the right duration ... and it really was a nice way to view the sunset and also see the north side of Key West from the water. The cruise featured a three-piece cover band that did a really great job with covers of plenty of familiar songs that were totally danceable ... and passengers were dancing and really enjoying themselves. The crew was great about bringing around pitchers of drinks ... margaritas, wine, beer and champagne. Decent selection. The snacks ... which were unlimited ... were a little meh and not impressive buy hey ... SNACKS. Mostly, the crew was super friendly and helpful, the band was solid. The captain might consider that his PA is totally adequate and he should not talk too loud into his mic as most passengers covered their ears during his announcements. Overall, a solid sightseeing experience for $80-ish.Written November 17, 2024

- Pilgrimpower0 contributionsCommotion on the OceanThe Captain and Crew were all excellent. The sail was smooth and the sunset amazing. The Cory Heyden Band were great as usual. The drinks flowed freely and the overall experience was great. The reason for the rating was because the appetizers really sucked. After having gone on this cruise many times in the past just wondering who was the Wizard that decided to change the spread? If they can upgrade their menu we will return and if not it’s been nice knowing you.Written November 17, 2024

- Indy5500 contributionsTurn boat Trip during offshore races. We went on the special boat charter for the offshore races on Nov 10. We have done this 3 prior times. I would say over all the experience is about the same. great customer service. great crew and captain. They have rasied there prices and food quality went down. With this package its all day on the boat, booze food etc. the food was pretty lame. I think that was my biggest dissapointment. it the past it was decent but this trip. naw. it was mini muffins fruit and cut up small croissants for breakfast. lunch was those awful pinwheel sandwiches more fruit some crackers a shrimp plate, veggie tray. all very cheap stuff. some cookies later in the day but ran out. They pretty cram the max on the boat, Bathrooms just cannot keep up so they get pretty nasty. Everyone is drinking all day long. I think you get the picture. I would say this trip was my least favorite from the years past. The view of the racing is great but just not sure it worth the cost. 179 USD per personWritten November 12, 2024
- Jean M0 contributionsGreat time in turn 3I took the boat for Turn 3 of the powerboat races. I did it before - about 6 years ago. Staff was great, very attentive. Terrific vantage point of the races. I was a little surprised it was on a bigger boat with more people. Cost of course has increased. Mixed drinks were not included but reasonably priced. What I was disappointed about was food. Breakfast before had some sandwiches with egg - protein - and this year was pastries. Lunch was sandwiches, chips, crackers, veggies and hummus. I was disappointed because we had a vegetarian with us. I think last time there was some pasta salad. And due to so many people lines were long. Also couldn’t get a drink without getting in food line during feeding times. For $193 pp I’d just like to food to be up a notch.Written November 10, 2024

The actual Glass Bottom Boat excursion was fun and interesting. The weather that day prevented us from going to the reef, and rather we had to travel to the gulf, but they gave plenty of notice for this change and offered a chance to get a refund if wanted. We went ahead and went since it was our last day. We still saw some pretty cool things. I went with my friend and our 4 kids. It seemed like a great idea for something to do with the kids, but the hosts had no patience with them. We were one of four families, three of which had multiple children with them. One of the three hosts was super sweet and patient. Another told my friend’s daughter that she was drinking too much water and wouldn’t let her get anymore. I’m sorry, but if she’s actually drinking the water provided for paying guests I don’t see what’s the problem. The main host that was giving the demonstration, stopped in the middle of her speech and actually grabbed my 6 year old son by the arm and pulled him away from the water jug while he was trying to fill his cup. She then proceeded to mention to the host that had an issue with my friend’s daughter that they “need to keep an eye on that one” while pointing at my son. At the end of her demonstration, she told everyone that she was “sorry it was so busy today with all the kids.” Again, 3 of the 4 families on board had kids. That was not appropriate at all. We enjoyed the excursion and the captain, but some of the hosts need to learn some tolerance.

We actually took this trip in July 2017 but the dates dont go that far back. It was predicted to rain that night and water was rather choppy. Our captain and crew stated the boat would not go to the reef due to weather conditions and anyone could get a refund. We decided to stay as it was implied we would still see some great underwater scenery. Our mistake. There was nothing spectacular about the underwater views, it was dull in color and underwhelming especially considering the price. The viewing area was small considering the number of people on board. I dont know if the reef views are better than what we saw but I would save my money, walk down to the Eco Discovery Center near Ft Zachary Taylor which is free (donations are accepted and appreciated) and check out the living reef exhibit, which is what we hoped to see.

Hi dhhsrn,
It is difficult to explain what may have happened on a trip you took two and a half years ago however, it seems you were well notified that the weather was not cooperating, offered a refund but made the choice to proceed with the trip regardless. When weather is less than ideal, our Captains do their best to select locations that are calm enough for guests comfort while still offering views of marine life and vibrant coral.
While both locations you named above are wonderful attractions in our small town, nothing quite compares to a smooth sail on the crystal clear waters of the Keys!

If you are at all concerned about Covid, I would stay away from this particular tour. This was not at all what you would expect a glass bottom boat to be. This was more like a large two story ferry boat. The only glass bottom to the boat were two narrow 8 foot cutouts that were completely indoors so everyone had to gather around these two small areas right on top of each other. There was zero social distancing and they refused to crack open the windows or the doors to allow air circulation. There was an upper deck to the boat but then obviously you could not see out the glass bottom which is the entire point of a glass bottom boat tour. Also, the upper deck was taped/marked off for social distancing so my group of 5 had no place to sit and thus were relegated to the stuffy crowded indoor space (which was NOT taped off for social distancing which is bizarre). After moving around several times and trying to find a place to sit upstairs and then trying to find a socially distanced place indoors, we had no luck and my entire party decided to get off the boat before it departed as we did not feel safe (covid-wise) being on board for 2 hours. Also, as a side note, we had reserved for 5 people and they only had us down for 3 people when we arrived and we were told they were booked to capacity and couldn't add the rest of our party. All that being said, the woman at the desk was super helpful and did add the rest of our party and also helped us with a refund when we decided to get off of the boat.

Poor visibility meant we stayed in the harbor. They did offer a full refund if you wanted it, but they also really played up the “dolphin playground” that we’d still travel through, so in the end we did decide to still go. Yeah, no dolphins either. Narration about the keys was informative, and the sunset was beautiful, but in reality, it was just a super expensive boat ride around the harbor.

So we were the first ride out on Easter Sunday!
Staff was friendly enough and in the long term the young lady who conducted the tour was very knowledgeable…..
A/C in viewing was almost non existent…also oddly configured with seats not facing the viewing glass!
The water was clear, and we saw fish, the actual reef is not what you picture when you hear the word reef……
But the biggest thing was that we were tossed around like corks! Windy day = rough seas
As a matter of fact, after dragging ourselves off of the boat, the bartender at a local restaurant on Duval St said that the boat was cancelled on days that had a lot less wind…but then she followed up by commenting that she figures that money was the driving force in that decision ….
Anyway, wished that we had done something else!!!

Hi BobbyMac710,
We appreciate you taking the time to review your experience on the Glass Bottom Boat.
This popular trip is the only way to experience the Reef, and all the amazing creatures who call it home, without getting wet!
While we love our local bartenders, they typically do not have an accurate gauge on sea conditions. Our Captains work very hard to find the smoothest routes with the clearest waters in order to give our guests the best possible experience. When winds reach a certain point that we find out guests would be uncomfortable, we cancel the trip.
We never wish to cancel a trip as we realize guests plan their vacation around these activities, however, as guests all have a different gauge of what is rough on the water and what is not, we proceeded with the trip as sea conditions, although not perfectly ideal, were at a fair place for this time of the year. We received no other complaints from guests on any Glass Bottom Boat trip on Sunday.
We do regret you felt the rocking boat marred the entire experience for you and hope to have the opportunity to have you back onboard under calmer sea conditions.

First, a disclaimer: the captain clearly explained that choppy waves on the Atlantic side led to the decision to cruise to the gulf side. Green water vs blue; coral versus barrier reef. The ride out and back was splendid: I appreciated the smooth waters. My disappointment was with the lack of fish along the coral reef. The guide did a great job explaining the different coral organisms; I was just hoping for and expecting colorful fish. I saw only 5-6 fish the entire time. We did see a couple dolphins on the way back.

Hi jeanapratt,
Thank you for taking the time to review your trip with Fury.
While we are glad you enjoyed the cruise and felt the captain was transparent about the lack of visibility that day, we do regret you felt this was a two star trip based on weather.
There will always be more plentiful marine life at the Reef and while we make every effort to take guests to the Reef, it is not alway possible when it is windy. Typically there is still much to see on the Gulfside- dolphins are more commonly seen on this side in fact! We do wish we could control where the fish and other marine life decide to pop up and do our best to take guests to these spots, however, they migrate and while we are always hopeful, there will be times there are fewer fish.
We hope you will come back under better weather conditions and give us the opportunity to truly exceed your expectations!

Total waste of time and money! Very disappointing. We did not get to see anything other than a few small fish. The narrator was unclear, and we could not understand most of what she was saying. The trip lasted 1.5 hours, not the stated 2 hours.

This is not a glass bottom boat. There are 2 channels with glass that you can peer through. If other guests decide to not be polite all of the children will not be able to sit in the viewing around the glass. Instead adults piled in and we were left peering over a railing, literally looking straight down causing neck strain.
And whatever you do, *do not bother arriving 45 minutes early* unless you plan to sit outside in the heat, sweating to death so they can board the boat 5 mins after the stated boarding time. I would suggest arriving maybe 5 mins before. The heat was so bad while waiting I had to pretend to shop in an extremely overpriced store ($488 for a maxi dress?!?) just to try to get some A/C. The bartender at the adjoining hotel was kind enough to wet a napkin for me to help cool off. The heat was unbearable, and there is no shade offered. You just stand there and swelter. We arrived 45 mins early, but since we tried to escape to A/C we were among the last to board the boat and were unable to get a good vantage point.
90% of the trip is the ride out to the coral. That part was maybe 20-30 mins of the 2 hours. There were not a lot of fish. The sunset was a sunset, nothing spectacular that I'd drive out of my way to see. It took us an hour to get there from the resort and I have to say it was a huge waste of time. I'd I would not recommend this to anyone expecting to have a fully glass bottom boat experience. Totally overpriced for the experience and then they have to nerve to say the staff depends on tips. I think $250 for 4 people was more than enough to cover staff.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a description of your recent experience. We regret that you had anything less than an amazing time with us. As the second oldest attraction in Key West, the Glass Bottom Boat Tour has taken place on a number of vessels. The most recent incarnation, The Pride of Key West, provides two long viewing areas within the enclosed cabin of the boat. On our website and in our marketing material we provide a description and images of the ‘window to the reef’. Normally, there is ample viewing area for all guests. On the seven mile journey to the reef, we provide a narrated sightseeing experience, designed to compliment the breathtaking views on the Atlantic Ocean.
Though we hope that every day is perfect, Key West is very hot in August. Fury requests guests to check in approximately 20-30 minutes prior to departure to verify their waivers and booking details. Normal boarding times are 15-10 minutes prior to the scheduled departure. While it is customary for guests to tip based on the level of customer service they received, guests should never feel pressured into doing so. We are happy to hear that you saw fish at the reef and were able to view the sunset!

It's pricey, but it's a nice boat with a good narrator when you get to the coral reef. The coral reef is interesting to see. I'd warn you to take motion sickness pills because once the boat slows down over the reef, the boat rocks a lot and it's sickening. We weren't warned about this. Also, be aware that you usually can't go there and just get on--often the boat ride is sold-out.

My family looked forward to the Glass-Bottom boat as our final excursion of an amazing trip to Key West, FL. We were a little disappointed because we were unable to go to the reef due to weather, but understood. The viewing area wasn't what we expected--it was a pretty small area. We only saw 3 fish and a little sea life. Dolphins did follow our boat and that was fun. Everybody just kindof sat down and started messing with their phones because it wasn't so amazing. THEN, we got to see a
