About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- JeanL0119780 contributionsAwesome!!This was a very awesome experience. The ride was smooth and the tour guide did a very good job with explaining various places on the island. There was a hiccup at the very beginning as our tour was supposed to be Friday night, I was told they did not receive a confirmation so they could not take me on it. However, they set up another date and time for us to go.Written January 12, 2025
- Warren6700 contributionsGreat fun even at 62At 62, I was a bit hesitant to try beach surfing. However, while staying at our Amelia Island condo, I watched a family surfing in front of us, and with a little encouragement from my wife, I decided to give it a shot. My guide, Hugh, was incredibly patient and eased me into the experience step by step. Before long, I was cruising along the beach and even carving turns surprisingly well! Best of all, thanks to Hugh’s expert coaching, I managed to avoid any wipeouts. Wow—what a fun and exhilarating experience! On our next trip to Amelia Island, I plan to encourage my adult sons to join us. Surfing together will be an absolute blast! Thanks Hugh!Written January 3, 2025
- michelebR4645WG0 contributionsAmazing vehicle! Unique experience and wonderful sites to see! Highly recommended! What a crazy vehicle to use to get around town! So much fun to drive! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and we were able to explore many sites on Amelia Island. I highly recommend this experience!Written January 1, 2025
- 29fatimag0 contributionsInformative interactive ADVENTURE experience! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!The Arcimoto FUV tour is interactive, cost effective, and just plain fun! The vehicle itself is very similar to the Canaan Sypder. Two wheels in the front and one in the back. I am thankful for the housing similar to a go kart, the heated seats, and the heated handlebars. Weather was a solid 58 degrees but I couldn’t tell. Very comfortable and quick ride. Easy intro on how to use the vehicle in the parking lot and around the block. The tour was very informative (Fernandina Beach). I learned about some of the Tour highlight spots: Nassau County Jail Palace Saloon (drink special was delicious) Wicked Bao (restaurant) St Peter Claver Catholic Church Old Town Plan Verot House St Peter’s Cemetery (the stories are TOP TIER ask about the Waas family!!!!) Pippi Longstocking House Amelia School House Inn Waas House Every tour is catered and slightly different so you may or may not go to all or completely different places. Hugh was the tour guide so you know this was a 5 star experience! Definitely will be back! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Do this tour, you won’t regret it!Written December 26, 2024

I was nervous that I would not get the hang of it, but within minutes I was flying along the beach having a great time. Great family memory and we will definitely do it again.Written July 21, 2024

- O396ODkent0 contributionsSuper Fun !My two daughters (7, 10) and I had a great time with Hugh. The skateboards are easy to control on the sand and we were up and going in no time. Hugh is really great with kids. The photos and videos he took were excellent. Do the one hour option !Written May 29, 2024
- Seaside590845051790 contributionsDon't pass up on this opportunity! This tour is so much fun that we came twice! You will go from cautious to confident and full of smiles. We've done it twice now. Hugh is an amazing host and makes it so much fun. He is super patient, great with kids, and fluent in encouragement. I highly recommend this tour for an epic day.Written May 20, 2024
- X7779ELrandyk0 contributionsOutstanding Customer Experience!Sara and her (3-yr old) assistant Maya were an absolute dream to deal with. Super friendly and thorough instruction on how to use the FUV. FUV itself was fun to drive (and easy, too). My only regret was not discovering Sara & Maya sooner. Would give double 5-star if possible!Written May 14, 2024
- A950EGrobb0 contributionsArcimoto on Amelia Island, FloridaWe were looking for a way to explore all of Amelia Island in 2 days, and the Arcimoto electric 3wheeler made it possible and so much fun! My wife and I have never ridden on such a vehicle but Hugh and Sarah made us feel confident and away we went. The vehicle was very easy to operate and the electric battery ran without fail. Plus, when compared to taxi fares, we came out ahead. My wife and I highly recommend the Arcimoto. More importantly, Hugh and Sarah are great people and very gracious.Written May 9, 2024
- 646mandys0 contributionsAmazing!!!!!Hugh guided us on an amazing tour. Even though he had to change his route because of Shrimp Fest, we still got to see so many great places. He is knowledgeable, fun and most of all very conscientious about safety. We highly recommend this company and the Arcimoto tour!!!Written May 5, 2024
- Meander658228780070 contributionsFun rideMy wife and chose the electric skateboard ride based on reviews. Hugh was awesome, funny and really made it fun for my wife and I. We’ve snowboarded for years but never skateboard quickly picked up how to ride. Will book again when we bring our kids.Written May 4, 2024
- 349tamekaw0 contributionsFun Unique Family AdventureOur hotel recommended doing the skateboard adventure with our 3 boys 11, 13, 16. We loved the skateboard beach ride. They stood up and rode while mom sat but it was a thrill. Hugh shared unique history of American Beach. The pictures and videos were a nice touch at the end that wasn’t expected. 10/10Written May 3, 2024

Hugh was fantastic! He gave us a great history of the town and a fun ride at the same time. He is well-known in the town and onlookers seem to enjoy watching the skateboards also. He was very accommodating and even included pictures and videos of the ride for free. I thought that was amazing!!

A co-worker told me about the Skateboard Tour and said I would enjoy it...and boy was she right!!! 24hours later and I'm still hyped about this adventure. Hugh was great from start to finish in making your feel comfortable on the equipment, sharing interesting facts about the beautiful Amelia Island, and recommending lunch spots after the tour. I can't wait to do this again!!! I highly highly recommend doing this experience!

We took our son for his 11th birthday and it was an incredible day! Hugh made the day so much fun for our entire family! He did a great job of teaching everyone how to ride and the American Beach tour was really interesting. At the end he took us on the beach where we were able to ride on the sand and race each other. I would definitely recommend Amelia Island Board Rentals to anyone looking for a great way to spend a day outside. Hugh brings a ton of energy to the day and makes sure everyone has a great time, no matter how good they are on a board. Our youngest son had trouble getting the hang of it and Hugh stepped right in and helped him be able to enjoy the entire tour and be completely engaged. It was an awesome day for our entire family and a great birthday. My son's friend who came with us told him mom it was the best day of his life! Thanks Hugh for helping us celebrate!

We had a great time learning how to ride motorized skateboards for the first time with my wife and 2 teenagers. It was something unique and a great way to explore the historic district of Amelia Island. Hugh is very knowledgeable about the town and taught us a multitude of facts about the city. He is very energetic and friendly and knows his way around. Definitely would recommend having Hugh be your local guide and having him show you around town. Thanks Hugh.

I really can’t say enough about this experience! Our tour guide was so much fun! He was incredibly patient with us and made our group feel safe and comfortable with an activity none of us had any previous experience with. He also gave my daughter and I the option of using electric scooters resembling mini Harley Davidsons if we weren’t comfortable on the skateboards. These were SO much fun to ride and the highlight of our vacation here!! His energy was great, he brought fun music and kept us all entertained while teaching us about the unique and historic Amelia Island. I would highly recommend this activity!! Thanks Hugh! E+O

This was by far the most fun tour I have ever done. The skateboard tour was not only a unique way to see the beautiful city but enjoyable for the entire family. Hugh, our tour guide, was accommodating to everyone and impressively remembered everyone’s names which made the tour feel more like you were hanging out with friends. We were also impressed with his vast knowledge of the city and his ability to make the history entertaining. If all of that was not enough, he also snapped pictures and videos which he provided. How’s that for making memories?! I’m not sure if it gets any better than that on vacation. Why are you still reading? Book the tour! 😊

RIDE WITH HUGH! My wife was super nervous about riding the scooters (never rode one before) but Hugh did a fantastic job of teaching her what to do and eased her nerves. She had a blast and wanted to immediately go again!
I rode one of the skateboards and it brought me back to my college days of longboarding around campus!
Hugh was incredibly knowledgeable and showed us around to many cool, historical landmarks on the island. We were visiting family who lived on the island and he even taught them some new stuff!
I can’t recommend Hugh enough. He was nice, hilarious, and an all around fun tour guide. If you want a fun, cheap adventure with some learning added to it, Hugh is your man!

Hugh did an amazing job of making our group of four (mom, dad, 14 year old and 17 year old) feel comfortable and safe. He was a wealth of knowledge and knew all the perfect spots to stop and give us an insider look at some of the history of the island. It was the perfect balance of riding and resting. I’d highly recommend this as a way to see a good chunk of the area!

Hugh was amazing. My wife had never been on any type of board, not a snowboard, a skateboard... nothing. Hugh took the time to let her ease into it, get comfortable and then made sure she felt safe and in control the whole way. It was myself, a 12-year old boy and 15-year old boy. We really enjoyed Hugh's history insights and the fun local knowledge only a local could share. We had a blast. It was the highlight of our three days in Amelia. This is a must do if you are in the area.

Do you need to know how to skateboard to ride these? My teens will be fine, but how about the middle aged parents? is it difficult?
Written March 8, 2023
I have NEVER ridden a skateboard and I did well. It took about 10 minutes to find my groove and the instructor knows this. He allows time for you to get comfortable on it. Yes! You can do it!!! My husband and I are almost 40 and we did fine. Do it! It's so much fun!

What’s the youngest age for a rider on the boards? We have a 16, 14, 12, 10, and 4 year old. Wondering how the 4 year old would manage....probably not, right?
Written February 12, 2020
My friends and I did this experience in October and had a great time. I highly recommend it. However, I think the 4-year old is much too young. Even if they could balance and ride the board all right, they also have to control their speed with a handheld device. This includes slowing down and speeding up to cross streets and dealing with passing cars. It would be very easy for a small child to misjudge what's required and get hurt.

Do you have a plan for 13 yr old? Don’t see that age.
