About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Palmbeacherpalmbeach0 contributionsGreat DayGreat morning. Capt taught us how to fish Really alot of fun Highly Reccomend Capt Kirk. Very nice friendly informative guyWritten June 22, 2024
- H3816IBtomg0 contributionsTrip of a lifetimeI had a trip of a lifetime! Captain Bob was a pleasure to spend the day with. I caught loads of fish with his guidance even though the canals had gotten 10 inches of rain in the days prior to my trip. Fishing for peacock bass in the Snapper Creek canal was the best part of my trip to Miami. We don't have those fish in Montana where I'm from and they fight like crazy. Captain Bob was very patient with me as I felt with snags and line issues throughout the day. His 25 plus years of experience were not lost on me as I pulled in bass after bass. I would go back on that trip in a heartbeat and will carry the memories of that day with me always.Written March 30, 2024
- gardengrandmaw0 contributionsLake Okeechobee bass vs Captain GalenToday was a great day on world famous Lake Okeechobee. Fish were plentiful and so were the stories. Captain Galen Fugh was a great guide and outstanding “Wang” man! It was a day for checking off something on our bucket list and making memories. We highly recommend you let them hook you up with some bug bass!Written January 25, 2024
- T1839LYdavidb0 contributionsAn awesome day on Lake Toho with bassonline.com guide and Captain John Leech January 2024My wife had a business trip in the Orlando area so I tagged along and scheduled a trip with Capt. John Leech in late January hoping to catch some big pre spawn bass on Lake Toho. A big cold front came through the day before our trip so the potential for a tough day was there. With the expert help of Capt. John, and despite the very cool conditions, we were able to catch fish all day long! We caught a lot in the 2-4 pound range with a couple of 5 pounders and one that went 6.32 for big fish of the day. It was an excellent day and John was wonderful company! I Highly recommend Capt. John Leech if you are looking for a person who flat knows where they are and how to catch them! By the way this is my second trip to Florida in the past year. I have booked through bassonline.com both times one on Okeechobee and then this trip to Toho. The trips were professional and exactly what I asked for and paid for each time. Book with confidence!Written January 24, 2024
- redgate1230 contributions"Bass Online" on Lake Ida, FL...DisappointingI used Bass Online on January 5, 2023 for a half day trip on Lake Ida in Del Ray , FL for some bass fishing. Would rate the guide, Bobby Kimble, a 3 out of 5 overall. He was knowledgeable and had a good disposition. He was on time and ready to go with good equipment. I would have given the guide a higher rating except for being up charged $50 extra for live bait at the end of the trip even though I did not request live bait and was NEVER informed ahead of time by the guide that live bait would cost me another $50. Did not know of the up charge until I received a final invoice in an email. In fact the guide's online profile indicated that both artificial lures and live bait were both included in the original booking price. This was a classic "bait and switch" practice as I see it. I would also rate "Bass Online Fishing Guides" a 3 of 5 given what I feel was a deceptive business practice by sneaking in the live bait up charge and refusal to refund me for the live bait up charge. I never requested live bait on my reservation and the invoice sent to me at the time of booking did not include a charge for live bait. So be aware of this additional surprise charge to the pricing at days end. I am rating Lake Ida as 2 of 5 stars for fishing during the winter months. I do think Bass Online could be more forthcoming as to the current fishing report. I was not aware the fishing would be so slow. The water temps were in the high 60's that chilled the bite to a crawl, with 4 netted fish in 4 hours, with two casting, myself and the guide. Only two of the fish caught were bass (Peacock). Also at this time of year we were fishing mostly under docks, back up against the seawall. This required precision casting each and every time to get in the target zone with a difficult skipping the bait technique. Not a simple task. This was not discussed by the guide prior to the trip. End of day, the fish caught were off of casts made by the guide. Just not as much fun when your own casts amount to nothing. Casting is actually an essential aspect of fishing. Bottom line, I would not fish Lake Ida again until the water temps were well into the 70's for me to get my money's worth of action. In the end I was charged $355, plus tip, for a 4 hour trip. Very disappointing. I would also not use Bass Online to book a guide given what I would consider a deceptive business practice regarding the charge for live bait . Best of luck to all the anglers. - bullbasinranchc0 contributionsMiami area peacock bass fishingI went peacock bass fishing with Captain Kirk We went out and fish the Falls canal area for Peacock Bass was an excellent day. Captain Kirk is a great person and guide. He put us on fish very knowledgeable fun to be around one of the better guys I fished with it’s not the best he was a wonderful guide made our whole day. Call lots of fish I don’t give 10. Very often but I would absolutely give Captain Kirk a 10 had no complaints or faults just was a great all-around guide and experience today. Lots of fish right eligible on personal guide, and a great person would highly recommend him for anybody no matter how much fish and experience you have or how little hill. Hope you catch a lot of fish . LeeWritten November 17, 2023

- bryanoD5522CC0 contributionsGreat tripIf you’d like to bass fish, don’t miss this fishing opportunity. Fished at headwaters lake in Fellsmere Florida. Fished it the first time loved it went back six weeks later because it was such a great trip. We booked our trip with guide Paul Dampier and he did a great job for us. Paul put us on fish every day and we were catching 30 to 40 fish. And those were only the ones we caught. We had at least that many that we had on the line that got off. I’m already getting ready to book my next trip at headwaters lake with Paul. Paul was a great guide and really took care of us throughout each day we fished.Written March 31, 2023
- julielP6211AO0 contributionsAwesome experience!!!We had an incredible time with Mike! He called us the day before and asked us to change locations because the fish weren't biting at his normal place. Well he definitely chose a good place to go!!! Within 20 minutes I had caught a 4+ pound peacock bass!!! It was a beauty!!! We went on to catch a total of 10 fish and 3 different species!! We will definitely be going back next year!!!Written March 24, 2023
- bobs8610 contributionsBest Peacock Bass Guide hands downI booked an 8 hour peacock bass fishing trip with bass online. They were very informative about the different places they fish. Because we were staying in Pompano beach they recommended I fish Lake Ida. They hooked me up with Capt. John Larsen for my trip. Capt. John reached out to me to finalize things the day before the trip. He asked questions to see what kind of fish I wanted to target. Once I told him that I wanted to mostly catch peacock bass he let me know the fishing style and what we would be doing. He made recommendations for how much live bait we needed and let me know he would have a cooler full of ice and water. We could bring other drinks and food. I showed up at the ramp and Capt. John was all ready to go. We headed to our first place. I am a bass fisherman so he only needed to explain that we needed to skip the bait under the docks and watch the line. My second cast the line jumped and started to move. I reeled down on the fish and set the hook. The fish did not move and it was like setting the hook on a rock. Then the fish just started to dig. Capt. John let me know to keep him away from the pylons and get him into open water. After a brief solid fight Capt. John netted my fish. A 2 1/2 pound peacock bass. We caught over 30 fish that day and I had the best time. Capt. John used my camera and took some shots of me and then I had him fish and took some shots of him. You need to book a trip with Capt. John Larsen he knows his stuff and puts you on the fish!!!Written March 12, 2023

- L2777GOandrewc0 contributionsPeacock Bucket ListIf you want to scratch Peacock Bass off your bucket list go with Captain Richard out of Hialeah Florida. We caught over 40 Peacocks and a number of other species including bass, crappie, Mayan Cichlid and one that we couldn’t identify a cross between a Ling and a Bowfin. Oh yes and my fishing buddy had a big snook on but lost him in a dock. Great guide great guy and a great day. On top of that I saved $8,000 because we didn’t have to go to the Amazon to scratch Peacock Bass off my bucket list. Thanks Andy ClementsWritten January 11, 2023

I've been lucky to fish with some good guides in my life and Capt. Mark Shepard moved to the top of that list the other day (1/13/21) when he took us out on Okeechobee. We caught more bass than you'd believe so I won't disclose the number but as important we had a great time. Captain Mark has some stories he likes to share as well as accurate information about the big O and surrounding environment. You can't go wrong with Captain Mark Shepard. Book it!

The web site makes the whole experience look like it is a very professional well planned trip. IT IS BY FAR NOT... After making reservations for a afternoon trip the captain changed our outing to the morning since he said rain was in the forecast. There was no rain in the forecast why we planned the trip out then. He could not find shinners we drove a hour to pick them. We meet him at boat dock in a canal because he said this is where the fish are. We caught 2 bass apiece in 6 hours total 4 bass. The guide did try to put us on the fish he called every angler he knew on the lake to find out where the fish are as we fished. Seeing he “hadn’t fished the lake for sometime”.. The bass online boat we where on had 1/4 cracks in the fiberglass and appeared never to have been washed and very very old. The equipment was equivalent to the boat. Cheap reels, broken eyes, junk. We did have one chance to catch a descent fish. But the knot in the hook came apart when we lifted the fish up. You could tell by the leader. Of course no net, no cooler, no water, no knowledge. He fished right along side of us and never caught a fish. We both are avid fisherman and this was a bucket list for us. The $400.00 for the guide is not what makes me mad. As much the waste of time. We did pay for the trip in full seeing the guide definitely needed the money and he did try. If your planning a trip make sure to ask the guide last time he fished the lake , what his boat shape is, do you have good equipment. Do not expect.

Hi Nick, thank you for your business and for leaving your review. As we always do, we have opened a research document on the items you mention to help us import and fix items for the next customer. At the same time, it helps us understand the expectations of our customers.
I want to address a few of your concerns for our readers and to hopefully provide you a better understanding as well. The first item booking an afternoon trip and the captain moving it to morning. That was done, only after the captain called you and explained at the current time the bite on Okeechobee is really tough. You booked the afternoon which even a tougher bite and di have rain in the forecast, he gave you the option NOT to go or suggested the morning would be best. You agreed and we changed it!
Regarding the shiner, the guides or BassOnline have no guaranty on shiners they are independently caught and sometimes hard to get. Every guide is in the same position, Capt Dave ran an hour out of his way to get them and THEN gave you an hour and a half extra of fishing time on the back end of your trip to make up for it.
Every good guide on Lake Okeechobee uses a network of guides, it's a 730 square mile lake. Not a single guide can stay on them all the time, that why our network of guides do better than normal. On this day, it was very tough on everyone, that was the reports he got back, you forgot to mention that.
Capt Dave fishes Okeechobee more days than 99% of the other guides on it period. No, he wasn't there in the last two or three days before your trip as he was fishing at a different lake with another customer. For anyone wanting to see his boat and get information on Capt Dave can search the website and read his profile, almost 250K in the tournament winning for a guy that can't fish is pretty good. Please read all his 5-star reviews as well.
Listen, we hate that Nich is upset and disappointed...but the fact of the matter is it was a really bad day of fishing and he wants to take that out on Capt Dave then okay. But we cannot control how the fish bite!

I picked a cool day after a near freeze to book my first guide. not the best choice. I picked Capt Mark Rose. the best choice. he had me on fish right away and kept me in action all day despite the fact that few others we talked to or saw were catching much of anything. my experience on Okochobee was so positive that I will travel to lake Erie this spring to fish with Mark again. if you can only book one guide this year, make sure it's Capt. Mark Rose.

Even though it was chilly and windy, Capt Galen Fugh helped my brother and me catch 31 bass in one day! We each caught bass over 6lbs and a few 3-4 pounders too, on top of all the others. Capt Galen Fugh was professional, personable, and fun to be with. We hope to go fishing with him again.
