I have been on a few boating charters before but this was my first sailing charter. My wife and I booked a 4-hour semi-private charter for two. We were joined by one other gentleman and of course Captain Dan.
Based on the previous Trip Advisor reviews for this charter I was pretty sure we were going to have a great experience, and I wasn't wrong. It was immediately evident that Captain Dan was a personable, competent and experienced sailor as he navigated the tight rivers, the intracoastal waterways and draw bridges and then finally the Atlantic.
We did stop for a swim in the Atlantic and Dan offered us snorkeling equipment but we opted out on the snorkeling as we wanted to continue sailing the waves.
The 4-hour experience went by far to fast but isn't that always the case when you are enjoying yourselves.
This sailing charter gets my 100% recommendation and we felt the price point for this charter was extremely reasonable for the experience offered. He books up fast and we were lucky to find an open date so book early if you can.

Captain Dan is the best! On the second to last day in Florida, and for a post Valentine’s Day romantic excursion, we booked “A Day on the Water” with Captain Dan. He and First Mate Tracy (his wife), were so welcoming upon arrival. He is knowledgeable on all the local history and the general area. As it turns out, the waters were a bit rough on our excursion and created a bit of sea sickness. Captain Dan was very experienced in navigating and considerate in minimizing the effects of the waves. As we cruised back into the intercoastal channels, the seasickness subsided and he graciously retrieved our champagne from the lower deck so that we could enjoy the remainder of the cruise in grand style. We would highly recommend this excursion both for the opportunity to be with Captain Dan as well as the great value he provides for four hours on a wonderful sailboat.

Perfect!! Everything was perfect...from beginning to end. Captain Dan is a skilled sailor and wonderful host. He not only gives you a spectacular sail off the coast of Ft Lauderdale, in the big beautiful Atlantic; he is also your tour guide as you motor through the New River and Intracoastal. His lovely wife, Tracy, greets you and prepares you for your journey. She takes a group photo of your party as you leave the dock and will send a copy to each as a souvenir.
This was our second sail on the Wind Pirate and I am looking forward to a third in the near future.
It is a Day on the Water you will never regret or forget!

Beautful, well maintained 40 ft. sailboat and a friendly, skilled captain who made sure we were comfortable and happy over our 4 hour adventure. We motored along the New River for 45 min. and were amazed by the "millions of dollar" homes and huge yachts floating out front and the tour of downtown Ft. Lauderdale. Once we got to the ocean the sea was rough but our captain was very skilled in maneuvering his boat and keeping us safe. We had taken Dramamine before we left and were glad we did.
Finished with anchoring in calm water and swimming off the boat. Motored back to Capt. Dan's home at sunset and the scenes earlier in day were now bathed in lights. A truly spectacular day and happy memories made!

From the first phone call to the end of the sail, it was over the top in terms of service and going above and beyond our expectations.
Captain Dan and his wife Tracy were pleasant, knowledgeable, funny, and like most in the boating community.. easy going.
My 93 year old dad and his girlfriend are still talking about how much fun they had months later. He even was able to pilot the boat out in open sea and jumped in the water with the rest of us in a sheltered cove.
I'm looking forward to doing this again my next trip out there. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who would like " a day on the water" and not be on a huge commercial boat with a lot of strangers.

Absolutely recommend! Super captain, made everyone comfortable, great story telling about the area, but most importantly a great sail...! We did the 2:30pm cruise, the way back was amazing sunset, moon rise, as picturesque and relaxing as you dream about. The highlight of our vacation in Ft Lauderdale.

What a delightful afternoon! Captain Dan was welcoming and Covid-careful, which we greatly appreciated. He guided us through a network of beautiful canals, offering just enough and not too much local history along the way, greeting every drawbridge operator by name as we headed out to a gorgeous ocean sail. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

My husband used to sail and wanted me to have the experience to see if we wanted to get back into it. Dan was quick to respond to initial phone call for reservation and he and his wife were both professional, friendly and organized. The trip was very pleasant, although the seas were a bit rough, giving me a realistic idea of sailing. My husband was allowed at the helm and I simply enjoyed.

We went on a private 4 hour cruise. Captain Dan and First Mate Tracey are awesome, so welcoming, friendly, professional yet easy-going, well-prepared, experienced, and knowledgeable. The 4 hours trip was so relaxing, and provided such a great Ft Lauderdale experience, really getting access to the city and intercoastal ways, seeing so much you don't see walking up and down the beach. Dan would do anything and had so much insight into the entire area. You could quickly understand how much experience he has boating and in the FLL area. We had 3 adults and 2 late teens and enjoyed the trip so much. We look forward to another trip in the future.

We had an amazing afternoon with Captain Dan on the Sail Wind Pirate! Tracy and Dan are very professional and made sure all our needs were taken care of. The afternoon was perfect with Captain Dan letting us pick how we wanted to spend our time. I would highly recommend Sail Wild Pirate and Captain Dan to anyone who lives in Ft. Lauderdale, or is traveling to Florida and wants an amazing day on the water!

We are a family of four visiting in May 2020 - would we be the only passengers, and also if we went snorkelling/ swimming is it easy to get back on the boat after - as I am neither light nor nimble!

If you ask the captain to take you swimming at a calm area and not in the ocean the water should be calm enough for you to get back up the ladder. I am not a tiny or limber person and I did not have an issue and we were out in the ocean. Captain Dan is great and will help you in whatever way he can. You will have a great time. Enjoy!

Hi Captain Dan- I'm down here on business frequently but solo. I sail regularly up in MA and am hoping to get out on the water when I'm down here--without the crowds. I'd love to come out but seems silly and costly to rent the whole boat for myself so wondered if you ever add onto groups with an extra person? I assume no but figured I'd ask. Thanks!
