- mjbdpm00Varied ecologyWhat we experienced was interesting Would have liked to have been exposed to some marsh ecology different flora and animals
- Ellen K00Great long morning around the Islands.Captain Josh was a great guide with more stories and facts than you can imagine. We saw many dolphin enjoying our wake, playing in the waves. We enjoyed all of the bird activity. We were brought to Pavillion Island for a nice shoreline walk. I think Josh went longer than our 3 1/2 hour time and did not seem in a run to end the trip. He really seems to enjoy his job and is good at it.
- F3191YYchristopherc00The best eco tour in FloridaOur guide was a local with decades of knowledge, boating in the Everglades since he was 12. He knows all the good spots for seeing the other (wild) locals such as the raccoons, huge variety of birds, manatees, and can brag that he is friends with the local dolphins.
- Luvualaska00Best Eco-experience in the Everglades!!Captain Josh is amazing. He took excellent care of us with snacks and water. Shared so much information about the area, the wildlife and culture. We got history and biology lessons that were fun and entertaining. Thank you for making this an epic memory. Seeing dolphins play, visiting an island with amazing shells, the mangroves and the birds are magnificent!
- zsdeut00A perfect day!We have already participated in this tour for a second time and it was amazing again. It was the highlight of our vacation. Josh is very knowledgeable about the environment and knows a lot about the different birds, the dolphins and the other wildlife that we encountered. We saw dolphins, huge pelicans and numerous birds. The boat was smooth and easy to ride. He had many extras like snacks, waters and sunscreen. If we had any questions or thought we saw something he would gladly stop and go more in depth. And the dolphins playing in the wake of the boat was an extra special treat. Strongly recommend this tour to anyone interested in wildlife and nature. Thank you very much!
- MargaretNicole00Excellent trip with a real naturalistWe had an amazing day trip out to the Ten Thousand Islands- couldn't have been better. We had a private tour, due to Covid, so that was a bonus. We saw the mangroves, birds, and beautiful natural places, including the island with the shelly beach. (My first time seeing horseshoe crabs.) We also had dolphins playing around the boat in the wake, very close to us. I guess this is common here, you will likely see them if you go. We were unlucky with manatees and turtles the day we went. What made the trip really unique was that our captain was a real expert on local wildlife, who has done research projects, etc. He is also a very experienced boat captain, and the boat was very comfortable. I cannot recommend this highly enough. It was really wonderful.
- NikAnnTar00Birthday Fishing Charter in the EvergladesSpecial & awesome day on the water. Capt Josh is an all-around great guy! He has a ton of patience and is super helpful. He was focused on our comfort and took care of everything. So friendly and fun to hang out with. Highly recommend booking your charter with Native /Josh. We’ll be back for sure! 5 stars!!
- adam8881900An amazing tour!An absolute amazing tour. We had a total of 4 on the boat and captain Josh made sure we all felt safe and had a great time. We had great dolphins and birds. Pavilion key is an amazing spot to stop as well. Don't miss this opportunity if you are ever in the area!!
- TrudieM4200perfect day on the watertoday I took a private tour with josh. he was born here and knows the territory inside out. he knows every tree and every animal and the animals know him. schools of dolfins came out to ride alongside our boat, we also spotted loggerhead turtles and many birds. highly recommendable tour where you see a lot of nature and have all the comforts of being in a Nice boat with an excellent guide with drinks and snacks...
- moechslin0010000 Island FloridaWe made a boat ride with Capt. Josh Fussell to the 10000 Islands in Florida. Josh is a very good guide and can report very interesting things about nature and animals. We saw a lot of dolphins, birds and also we saw manatees. We saw a beautiful sunset. We were 4 adults and everybody enjoyed a lot. We really can recommend him.
- 1x700Unforgettable DayWe had a wonderful experience with captain Josh! He is very knowledgeable and his love for the area is contagious. Our trip was informative interesting relaxing and most memorable! Our highlight was the pod of dolphins who happily played near us then followed in our wake! Highly recommended!!!
- Mowalie00Fantastic timeAll the other reviews say it all - we had a fantastic time, seeing the islands, dolphins, turtle, bird life etc thank you
- ayala10100Incredible afternoon with Captain Josh!Words cannot describe what an incredible afternoon with had with Josh. Our family of four (adults plus 10 and 7 year old) had one of our most memorable and fun experiences ever. The diversity of wildlife was awesome, and joshs knowledge added so much to our afternoon. His biological knowledge and his love for the area and the animals who call it home made it such a special trip. PLUS he knew just how to get the dolphins to play in the wake of the boat. We will remember this afternoon forever. Thank you Josh!!
- Efeeney00Thank youThank you for showing us the wildlife including dolphin, sea turtles, and many birds. You did a great job.
- Elaine A00Great job.Josh was knowledgeable and very kind. He made sure we were as comfortable as possible. He went out of his way to make sure we had a great time showing us dolphin and manatees.

Having visited Florida many times, we have enjoyed a variety of experiences in the Everglades. This personally guided eco-tour was a novel and fascinating 3 1/2 hour tour of the northern end of the 10,000 islands separating the mainland from the Gulf of Mexico. Many guides in this area are seasonal employees who live elsewhere. We were thrilled to be guided by Josh, a sixth-generation native and life-long resident with an obvious love of the Everglades who was not only an exceptional guide but a storyteller who shared his culture and Florida history. Our boat was very clean and convenient for two to six people. Josh was personable, hospitable, and conscious of Covid safety policy.
We observed and learned about many types of birds, trees, plant life, sea shells, turtles, and dolphins. Josh understands and relates to the dolphins and was able, on several occasions, to lead them to the boat for aerial entertainment (for them and for us!).
This has been a good time to travel as tourism is slower and yet we were safe on the boat. We would certainly encourage others to take this tour.

This was one of the most fun activities we did on our trip to South Florida. Josh made sure we were all comfortable in our chairs and started our tour through the Everglades. He is incredibly knowledgeable about the entire area, the landscape and the wildlife. He kept a lookout for any animals we might want to see and would change directions, if needed, just to show us something amazing. We had two teenage girls with us and they were entertained the entire time. The dolphins and pelicans were definitely the highlight of the trip. We were all mesmerized by the dolphins swimming and playing right by the boat. We stopped for about 30-40 minutes at an island to explore. Josh also had plenty of water and snacks for everyone. Would highly recommend this trip.

What a spectacular 3.5 hour Eco Tour. Josh is the Captain/owner/operator of Native Tours and Fishing Charter and is a born and raised native to the Everglades. His love of the area is clearly expressed through his knowledge of the ecosystem and history of SW Florida.
Ask him a question about the area and sit back and enjoy the fascinating journey. He will take you back thousands of years expanding on the current and extinct native populations, how mangroves are made, what it takes to navigate the keys as they change hourly, daily, seasonally while providing very detailed information about the local wildlife and habitat.
He is so in tuned with the local dolphin population that he can judge if they are in the mood to play in the wake of the tour boat. What a treat if they are. Josh knows when they are disinterested and when to disengage contact as to make the experience pleasurable for both human and dolphin.
I would comeback in a heartbeat to experience his other offerings such as a Bioluminescent tour on a no moon evening or Fishing expedition.
Enjoy your 3.5 hour Eco encounter with Dolphin, Manatee, Sea Turtles, and Paradise beach shelling experience.

Capt Josh is a very interesting knowledgeable fellow. Not what I expected for an Everglades tour but the afternoon flew by and was so enjoyable. Capt Josh grew up on the water and has a degree in biology. He spoke about the history of the area and have us all sorts of interesting facts about the indigenous people and their culture. We saw many birds and would have seen sea turtles and possibly gators but the day was hotter than normal. The highlight was the 4-5 dolphins that we saw up close and personal surfing in the wake of the boat. The boat was comfortable with a canopy. Great experience! We also stopped to shell at Parliament Key and saw horseshoe crabs.

Josh, a marine scientist and professional wildlife photographer, is so knowledgeable. Born and bred in the Everglades, he knows the area and it’s history intimately and pointed out various species as we passed along. He seems to be a dolphin whisperer - he slowed the boat, the dolphins began lazily circling which is their cue for a game. Josh fired up the engine and we were off, with the dolphins right up by the boat, playing in the wake. Fabulous.
Josh is so respectful of nature and sympathetic to the eco system. We could have experienced none of the interesting insights from a noisy airboat.
We learned so much, had a magical experience - our trip could not have been better. Book this!

The four of us had a wonderful, great half-day with Captain Josh, despite the overcast skies and occasional rain. He pointed out wonderful birds, and the dolphins were jumping in the wake of his boat. We got great photographs of both. He is a wonderful, low-key, knowledgeable guide and none of us could imagine anyone being better. To top it off, he recommended we have lunch at the nearby Havana Café on a nearby island, the same island on which he lives. We were skeptical but went there and had the best lunch ever.

From beginning to end, our Captain, Josh, was professional, kind, informative, prepared and entertaining. He knows this area like the back of his hand, navigating with skill and ease. His formal and informal education of the Everglades made him a wealth of knowledge.

Capt josh was great as usual, full day of fishing plus exploration of an island where a bald eagle spent the better part of 30 minutes on the beach. Found shells and colossa Indian pottery and caught three snook. Can’t wait to go back would give 10 stars if I could!!!

We spent 4 nights exploring the Everglades around Tamiami Trail and this tour was by far the best experience. Captain Josh is a true native and his knowledge of the area really made this trip special. We saw manatees, see turtles, and countless shore birds. The highlight has to be when Josh got the dolphins to swim in the boat wake with us - worth the price of admission alone! My family created memories that will last a lifetime. If you want to see a very special part of Real Florida with a guide who really knows his stuff, then don't hesitate to book!

Wonderful trip! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and interesting. We highly recommend this tour. Favorite part was the 10-12 dolphins jumping and playing in the wake of our boat. Best day! Everglades are breathtaking, so happy we chose this over a airboat tour. My family was a little chilly at times so I’d recommend warm clothes :)

What is the difference between motorboat and airboat? We have a 80yesrs old man in our 4-person group. He can walk a short distance. Will he have problem?

Husband and I are planning on visiting last week of March 2022, interested in taking your Eco Tour while we are there, along with anything else that sparks our interest. On our way to The Keys afterwards...with that said, do you have a suggestion of where we should stay for a couple of nights so we are in close proximity to you? Any suggestions (multiple if you have them) are appreciated. Thanks! Anne Maxwell
