Flamingo Gardens is a beautiful place to spend a few hours. We took a 30 minute tram ride which took us around the 60 acre property. There are animals such as birds, bears, flamingos, pelicans among other exotic creatures. I have to caution anyone booking on Trip Advisor. If you are a senior citizen, you would get a discount when you buy your tickets there. HOWEVER, because we booked our reservation online and paid for it through trip advisor, we could not not get a $4.00 per person senior discount. We were not happy about. We advise everyone to NOT book through the Flaming Gardens website which will automatically send you to Trip advisor.

We came here a little after 1pm on a Sunday. We made reservations online the day before and took advantage of the AAA discount.

The parking was easy but they were renovating a building near the entrance. You enter first through the gift shop where you can also purchase entry tickets as well as food for the birds. Eash small bag of food was a dollar.

We learned the park started as an orange grove with the Wray family about 1930 and comprises 60 acres.

We entered the gardens through the back of the gift shop. There are a lot of hard surface trails to walk throughout the gardens with many tropical and subtropical plants and animals, mostly birds.

We toured the original Wray home which is a museum on the property and staged as it would have been in the 1930s. We also took a tram ride through additional more remote areas of the sanctuary.

The tour was enjoyable and informative and overall it was a good experience. We appreciated the fact we could walk around at our own pace and feel the entry fee was very, very reasonable.

This place was a nice slow day. Walked around looking at the various animals they have. WE went on a Friday and there wasn't a large crowd so you could spend time in front of the exhibits and observe the animals, read the signs, etc. There was ALOT of peacocks walking around...ALOT, that was fun to see. Also, we took the tram tour which takes you to part of the park that you can't walk to. Lots of interesting plants back there and the tour guide is quite knowledgeable. I would recommend this for an easy, interesting, educational day.

We arrived at Flamingo Gardens after a little search on internet for a birthday outing. When you arrive you will be sceptical about your choice but wait and do not judge! We were greeted by magnificent peacock tail display before we even entered the gift shop where you buy your tickets!! This is really an animal sanctuary and charity. The animals of all kinds are so well cared for and very up close. There is a "show" where various cared for animals are lovingly and carefully displayed with a handler who obviously has known the animal for a long time through recovery. If animals are able they would be released into the appropriate wilds when recovered but many need the home of Flamingo Gardens to live out their lives. You walk beside pelicans, rosetted spoonbills and many many more. The flamingoes may be hand fed with purchased food from little gum ball type machine. Amazing. There are also land train rides with guide to tell you what you're seeing. There's the house of the gentleman who settled here and set all this up years ago which is extremely interesting. There are varieties of peacocks running around freely which I've never seen.
The staff are ALL without exception so kind, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, helpful.
The gift shop is unique and fun. Don't forget this is a charity so whatever is bought will go to this worthwhile cause.
We all LOVED our afternoon and spent a long time seeing everything there. We would highly recommend a visit to Flamingo Gardens and will certainly make return visits!!

Not so many Flamingos really, but a great combination of a small zoo + a small botanical selection, nice train ride every hour (very few seats, wait early or you wont get on), can use AAA card for a reduced entrance, was a beautiful outing, good for couples, singles, families, good 3+ hours total, masks and SD required in park, bathroom not amazing, (cant you renovate? and make it sparkling clean and have good dtergents smell?)
Lovely afternoon.
about 45 min went to a large take with delicous selection of take out only, meat, fish, salads, dips, bakery - all was super delcious, spent $200 and were so happy w food!! its in Aventura.
Its called Sara's tent, take a number at showcase, no sitting area - taking to hotel was wonderful and kept us going for 2 days!

Flamingo Gardens was a wonderful experience. It is tucked away and unassuming upon arrival. I go to school 15 minutes away and had absolutely no idea just how large it is! Many of the animals are free-range and the entire experience was relaxing and stress-free. The park is so spread out that there was no problem with crowding or bumping into other people. There is a trolley tour around the entire property, shoring the orange trees but all of the animals were within a comfortable walking distance from the entrance if you are not interested in taking the ride.
The house of the original owners is open as a museum and a lovely volunteer tour guide named Hank walked us through!

I was in Fort Lauderdale for a few months helping my mom as she recuperated from a stroke and every now and then I got a chance to get away for a few hours. So, on a whim, my spouse and I hopped in the car and headed to Flamingo Gardens.
We had no real expectations. The $20/head admission seemed a little steep, but it was a much-needed outing, so we splurged.
Surprise!
It really is an interesting place. It's not real slick, but the wide range of trees and orchids and other plants was fascinating. The animal sanctuary was interesting, too. It was far larger than we expected so we ran out of time before we saw everything, but the flamingos were pink and pretty and we were delighted!

Like many others have said, more emphasis on Gardens, less on Flamingos. We stopped to see the Flamingos (or funny birds as my toddler finds them) and were disappointed in the number of flamingos and wildlife that were to be found. However, the grounds are absolutely gorgeous. There was an awesome tram ride (practicing social distance) that took you on a tour of the gardens, and the guide provided you with a lot of information about the flowers, trees, and wildlife found. The tram ride definitely made up for the lack of Flamingos.

Also appreciated that masks were required throughout the whole park.

Thanks so much for visiting and for sharing your experience. As we do have 15 flamingos on display, you might have missed seeing some of them on their nests in the rear of the exhibit. We are so glad that you enjoyed the tram tour and the rest of the gardens. We are doing our best to follow all CDC guidelines to insure the safety and enjoyment of our guests. We hope you are able to visit again in the future.

We were at Flamingo Gardens over spring break and had a great time! We went with my three kids, one of which is in a wheelchair. Everyone enjoyed the wildlife encounters show and seeing the animals, especially the owls, peacocks and really the entire aviary. We also really liked the turtles and otters. Yes the facilities could use a bit of updating but it is also a nonprofit and monies raised goes towards the care of the animals. Oh, and there’s also quite a few stray cats that live on the property that we enjoyed petting. We were there for a few hours and will be back on our next visit to Fort Lauderdale!

A must see if you like birds and plants. The famous flamingos are of course fabulous but we were surprised by the big number of peacocks roaming around. The vegetation is luxurious, with many unique trees. Easy to get to, big parking.
