What to expect
An admission ticket to the Flamingo Gardens Botanical Garden and Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary is a ticket to a rare tropical paradise — 60 acres (24 hectares) to be exact. It is a not-for-profit wildlife sanctuary, aviary and botanical garden located just west of Fort Lauderdale. The gardens were originally the property of Floyd and Jane Wray, who built a home and citrus grove here in 1933. At the time, it was at the edge of the Everglades, where they started a collection of tropical and subtropical fruit trees and shrubs. The Wray home still stands today. In fact, it’s now a museum illustrating a country home in the early 1930s. The attractions inside Flamingo Gardens are plentiful. The Wray Botanical Collection has over 3,000 tropical and subtropical plants and trees. It is also home to some of the largest trees of their kind, according to the Florida Forest Service. The wildlife sanctuary boasts the largest collection of native-Florida wildlife in the entire state. Check out alligators, bobcats, otters, eagles, bears, panthers, peacocks and, of course, the famous flamingos. Plus, more than 250 birds fly free in the magnificent aviary. Catch a Wildlife Encounter Show, plus a narrated 25-minute tram tour that runs every 30 minutes throughout the day. Hungry? Purchase sandwiches, salads, smoothies and other snacks and beverages at one of the on-site eateries — the Flamingo Cafe offers some incredible views of the gardens to boot. At the gift shop, pick up unique tropical plants and accessories for your patio.

Pleasant visit.
Cool place. Beautiful fauna and wildlife. They have a narrated tram. That was informative and fun. Great place to visit. They give a AAA discount - so if you have a AAA membership, show it.

We took my grandson 8 and granddaughter 1 1/2. The people were very friendly and knowledgeable about the gardens. This was the best gardens I have visited beautiful. The wooden bug displays were very interesting to see. My grandson loved the birds. It was a nice walk and my granddaughter love the tram ride. The guide was very knowledgeable about the gardens. We throughly enjoyed our visit. And I will return when I get back to that area.

An slow, easy, interesting, educational day.
Apr 2021
This place was a nice slow day. Walked around looking at the various animals they have. WE went on a Friday and there wasn't a large crowd so you could spend time in front of the exhibits and observe the animals, read the signs, etc. There was ALOT of peacocks walking around...ALOT, that was fun to see. Also, we took the tram tour which takes you to part of the park that you can't walk to. Lots of interesting plants back there and the tour guide is quite knowledgeable. I would recommend this for an easy, interesting, educational day.

We still had to check in even with an E ticket and there was no offer a senior discount from TripAdvisor so we missed out on senior discount. Very disappointed.

Beautifully kept botanical gardens. The house/museum tour was very good. Wear comfortable shoes. Do ride the tram first to see those areas and save the walking for the other areas.

Hidden gem!
What a wonderful place! I found this sanctuary on TA and decided to check it out. It ended up being the highlight of our trip. The exhibits were very well kept and throughout. It was neat to be in open air areas with free roaming wildlife. Highly recommend.

Nice visit + Great food at Aventura = Wonderful Day!
Feb 2021
Not so many Flamingos really, but a great combination of a small zoo + a small botanical selection, nice train ride every hour (very few seats, wait early or you wont get on), can use AAA card for a reduced entrance, was a beautiful outing, good for couples, singles, families, good 3+ hours total, masks and SD required in park, bathroom not amazing, (cant you renovate? and make it sparkling clean and have good dtergents smell?)
Lovely afternoon.
about 45 min went to a large take with delicous selection of take out only, meat, fish, salads, dips, bakery - all was super delcious, spent $200 and were so happy w food!! its in Aventura.
Its called Sara's tent, take a number at showcase, no sitting area - taking to hotel was wonderful and kept us going for 2 days!
