- elizabethsV4135LF0 contributionsIncredible company, honest and genuine, worth taking a trip with! Our first trip with the Little Toot company was after storm Debby had been to town and we stayed out well over the allocated time, as the crew searched for Dolphins. This boat trip alone around vast areas of the bay was wonderful! True to their word, if you don’t see any dolphins, you get another trip and this second one did not disappoint! There are bigger companies and much bigger boats in Clearwater but we really observed (and the crew pointed out) how much the dolphins appear to love the sound and recognise it, of the Little Toot boats and so are drawn to them (certainly over the bigger boats). What appears to happen then is the bigger boats jump on the “band-wagon” and follow or join in with the dolphins around this company. This did result in two incredible sightings of dolphins on our second trip as a larger boat sailed parallel to our LT boat and the dolphins played in the breakwaters in between. The crew observed how fabulous this was as so many dolphins came out to play. This trip was an incredible highlight of our visit and with easy parking, great and informed crew, we cannot recommend supporting such a company over the competition as truly, bigger is not always better!Written August 24, 2024

I have always wanted to see dolphins in the wild, and I was not disappointed. Despite the caution that dolphins are wild animals and there is no guarantee you might see one. We had at least 4 different groups at different times follow in the wake jumping up beside the boat, truly a wonderful sight for all ages. The kids were in awe and the adults were also excited. Other bonuses are that you see other wildlife, particularly birds, and the crew pass on interesting information about Clearwater, the Gulf and of course dolphins. The tour took us into the Gulf and you get a nice perspective of Clearwater Beach. The tour was just over an hour and for the most part was in Clearwater Bay. The boat was clean and there was adequate space for the 36 guests. You tend to roam the boat depending on where the dolphins are. There is plenty of parking at the area where you board the boat and costs $4 (you get the parking chit when you check in). Other tips, plan to get there early as they leave bang on time and pre boarding there are photos taken of the different groups of guests. I would recommend this tour for families with children, couples, friends of all ages, especially if you are into seeing animals in their natural environment.

The tour was so much fun. This is a very well taken care of boat. Looking at the other tour boats in the harbor we saw some are in need of some TLC and maintenance. This is one reason we picked this tour.
First off the crew were great. The captain was very good at handling the tug boat. The first mate and MC was very personable and attentive. They serve drinks at a cash only bar if you want, so we elected for a beer.
We then toured some of the very expensive homes along the bay with the first mate narrating what we saw. Then it was to see where some mother dolphins keep their young safe in some shallows that boats can't enter.
Then off to see some wild dolphins in gulf. The tour skirts the shores of Clearwater Beach. Nice view and that is where the dolphins hang out i guess. We were not disappointed. We saw no less then 15 or so dolphins with their young in tow.
It was a sight to see when the younglings keep up with the full size ones. Jumping and flipping in the boats wake. Lots of great photos and video for every one on board.
We did the sunset cruise and the captain made SURE everyone got a very good photo of themselves with the sunset behind them by perfectly positioning the boat.
The family had a great time. the boat was NOT over crowded and we had plenty of room to see what we came for.
We loved it! Totally worth the money. We highly recommend this tour.

Honestly, I was very skeptical of Dolphin tours.
I had never been on one before but my SO mentioned it as something she wanted to do while we were in Tampa. We spend awhile looking through reviews and ratings, and Little Toot made the top of our list. We choose the 5pm ride for the sunset view (I still didn't think there would be anything but a sunset). The crew of 2 was awesome, very funny with their little tour of the bay and very helpful with sights and kept us entertained even when there wasn't dolphins. There were drinks on board which was very nice, and a good amount of seating and rails to stand by. We stood up near the front and sides for the ride, resulting in some splashing on us but we enjoyed it a lot! When we first got out to the bay, I was still extremely skeptical and had narrowed it down to a sightseeing tour, but then there were Dolphins! There were at least 3 pods of Dolphins, and they loved being around the boat and the people. When the boat picked up speed, they swam in the wake and did jumps right beside and behind us! It was amazing! To top it all off we had an amazing sunset (accompanied by pave-hawks and aircraft if you're into that like me) and the crew was nice enough to take photos of us with the sunset.
Overall, Little Toot was the best thing we did with the whole trip, and I will ride it every time we come back!

My young teens weren’t sure a sunset cruise with dolphins would be a great idea but later admitted how wrong they were (and that doesn’t happen often)! We saw two pods - one in the bay and one in the Gulf. It was amazing watching them ride the wake behind the boat, flipping in the air, and swimming along together. The sunset was also beautiful. The captain and mate were professional and also apologized when we had to leave late after some people boarded and then threw a fit that the boat would leave (on time) without the rest of their group. SMH. All in all it was a great time. We also saw many other dolphin watching boats (the ice cream one with really loud music, the shark one with lots of loud kids) and agreed that the Little Toot was the right size and so close to the water it seemed like we could touch the dolphins! As for anyone concerned about Covid, it’s a smaller boat and when the dolphins showed up people got close together. People did have on masks but if this is really a huge concern for you it might be best to sit out this activity period. The other boats we saw were no better - there’s only so much they can do (limit capacity). Think about it rather than going and being upset. We had a blast!

We booked this for four adults and two toddlers. Perfect viewing for little people. The dolphins jumped repeatedly in our huge wake so even our 21 month old granddaughter squealed and pointed at the dolphins. Great crew. Clean beautiful boat. Highly recommend. Perfect experience!

Went on the Little Toot with my wife and two kids 19 and 14 yrs old on this trip and it was amazing! It was so awesome seeing dolphins in their natural habitat. The captain was awesome and the staff was a female from Michigan that was very informative and now has my wife wanting to go crabbing! Haha! We took the 330 pm trip on Wednesday October 14. The boat is very clean and offered soft drinks and alcohol on board for a very reasonable price. Thank you to the staff of Little Toot for making that day of our vacation, one I will never forget! Sorry about not remembering the staff's names. You both were awesome and my family and I a truly grateful!
Best Regards

After looking at a few different options we decided to pick the Little Toot. I am sure glad we did! The captain and staff were really knowledgeable and seemed to put a lot of effort into getting the dolphins to swim/play with the boat. (A LOT more then the other boat tours out at the same time) For the best experience I would position yourself in the back of the boat since the boat wakes are where the dolphins interact the most. I would go on this dolphin adventure tour again. It was also a great bonus having a dolphin trainer as a a host!
Thank you guys!!!!

We saw several dolphins in the wake of our boat - SO COOL!
My main recommendation is to not bring much on the boat: I had a small backpack and I wore it the entire time. There will be many moments where they yell, "dolphin off the front starboard side," and everyone runs over there, and then "okay - dolphin in the back wake," and you want to be mobile to run over to see it there, vs. trying to keep track of baggage that you brought onto the boat with you.
Also, be aware: absolutely no one on the boat wore masks except my party. Not even the workers wore masks, so we were a little wary of that given the COVID situation in FL.

How amazing was that... we spotted dolphins almost right away and they were very energetic, jumping way up in the air, apparently a rare occurrence. So amazing. The boat is very safe. Will and Liz were very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend this tour if you love dolphins or if you have kids that love dolphins! Thanks Little Toot, we will come back!

Even if luck were not on your side and you could not see dolphins, this would still be worth the price of admission. The "Little Toot" is a friendly little boat with plenty of seating, great vision lines, and extremely clean and well-kept. The staff is very friendly but also very experienced and knowledgeable about the ecosystem around the Bay. We saw several dolphin pods on our tour. Some were having a lazy day but a few others were happy to see us and put on a show. 5-6 dolphins jumping and playing in the wake of a powerful tugboat will put a smile on anyone's face. Give the Little Toot a chance to brighten your vacation.!

Will there be life jackets provided for kids or do we need to bring our own?

Do you go in the bay or open water? I ask as I get very seasick
Written May 1, 2022
We did go in the open water, but this little boat did not travel fast, so there wasn't much movement.

Can you just turn up on the day or do you need to pre book in advance?

You can show up and buy a ticket but it's a good idea to buy early as they book up quick.

Yes you can book in December, I know there was a week where you couldn't but there was open slots. I know there's nothing next year yet.

I have been on Little Toot 4 times. I have not seen a wheen chair. However, I suppose if the wheen chair could be carried 3 feet from the dock to the boat, it might be accommodated.
