The Sunset Celebration Cruise was a wonderful experience! Although it was a bit cloudy that evening, between the narrator's light-hearted sense of humor and the patches of sunset color between the clouds, it was still a great time. The breeze felt amazing while out there in the open water. We saw some dolphins too!
Couple things to note - seating is limited on the top, but eventually some of the crowd ended up standing around while enjoying their drinks. The music was also too loud. But otherwise, I would definitely recommend!

We wanted to get out on the water as a family so opted for the more economical sunset cruise offered by Tropical Boat Tours. We were a little apprehensive as we saw the prior group debarked a little ho hum, but sure glad we decided to go in the sunset cruise.

The negatives: In the description it states "This tour/activity will have a maximum of 20 travelers" but there were nearly 100 on this cruise, and 70 something on the top deck alone. There was no social distancing enforced as advertised, either. And, boarding was wall to wall people waiting to get on. The positives: The sunset views were great, and we were also able to catch the full moon rise over the city, along with some sweet shots of local bridges. We did a few miles and probably were out for a good 1 hour and 30 minutes.

I really enjoyed the cruise the captain and his two mates did a nice job of giving us information as we traveled around. My only negative comment was I didn’t care for the music it was being played. The only one I liked was Sweet Caroline at the very end of the cruise. Other than that everything was fine it was very enjoyable and I would recommend it to anyone

I excitedly planned this, as it was a surprise. Check in went smoothly and we boarded the boat, line for drinks was long but quickly subsided once we departed from the dock. Seating upstairs filled up really quickly but we weren’t too bothered, as I found a good spot with seating where we could still see the sunset on the lower deck. 20 mins in, the engine seemed to start stalling, and shortly after that, we noticed we stopped moving. About 5mins passed when the captain came on announcing that they are having technical issues with the engine and we would be having to turn around and cancel the experience. I was extremely deflated and bummed as this was the last day of our trip and I wanted to close out our vacation with this experience. None the less, the staff were very nice and apologetic. We were thankful to have returned safely and appreciated that they cared enough about our safety and that they were honest about the situation.

The boat was crowded, not enough seats for everyone to sit down. We were going up and down the shoreline seeing the different houses and seeing where everybody lived. The jokes were funny. However the reason for the dissatisfying rate was because you had a boat it was very long and yet you went head on to the sunset…. Which the only people that sat on the bow of the boat had a good view. You should’ve taken the boat sideways so everybody would have a better view. I was hanging over the side just to get a view of the sunset. I have been on many sunset cruises and this one was very disappointing. I definitely would not give it Clearwater’s number one sunset cruise rating.

The sunset was beautiful. The weather was not amazing, cold and windy which can’t be controlled. However, we never saw any dolphins and there was no champagne toast at sunset. The wines were limited to 1 choice and we got soaked from people on the deck above with alcohol they threw overboard. I could have sat on the beach and saw the same sunset with my own champagne and less of an alcohol bath…

I DO NOT recommend the sunset cruise. It was extremely crowded, we had no place to sit down. They sell as many tickets as they can — no consideration for personal space or safety. We were packed like sardines.
The theme of the cruise is the bar scene. Everyone walks around with a drink and having loud conversations.
I have to admit , many people had fun. We did not because it was not what we expected. The cruise misleadingly advertised as romantic sunset cruise... nothing was romantic about it !!!
The boat made a very slow and small circle — you basically go from one bridge to another and back. They ask for tip first thing you step on the boat . I found it vulgar .
If you like to drink standing in the crowd , pressed against other people’s sweaty bodies — it is a cruise for you.

I went with my cousin's from our of state. We had a really good time. We saw lots of dolphin activity and the sunset was beautiful. I would recommend a light jacket or sweater because it does get windy at times and chilly. Other than that it was a fabulous experience.

Be aware they close for this season. We booked on internet the last trip on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at 6:30pm. I had my confirmation on hand for my family to get this tour and when we arrived an employee told us it was cancelled. Tropic Boat tours should have let us know it was cancelled in advance so we did not travel from Miami to Clearwater for a cancelled tour. It happened to us and could happen to you.

The boat has 2 levels. The speakers on the bottom level didn’t work so you couldn’t hear the guided tour. They advertise snacks and drinks but sold out of pina colada and all snacks from early cruise, they said. They require you to be an hour early and you stand in a crowded area and wait while boat sits empty. With COVID rampant it would make more sense to load the boat rather than a herd of people waiting to load 5 different boats on a crowded street. .worst boat tour we’ve ever taken!
