I went with my kids (9 and 11) and although we have been rafting on the east coast before, this was very different. The rapids were strong and super fun. We got soaked. Our guide (Mike) was amazing and we always felt very safe. He also had a lot of really interesting stories and information about the canyon. He was great with my kids- lots of joking around with them. They had such a great time that we went back the next day for another half day. In hindsight I would have rather book one full day, but I have no idea we were going to enjoy it so much.Written August 24, 2023
- Y3258REjanet0 contributionsAwesome Experience!This was the perfect first time whitewater rafting experience; pretty smooth with just the right amount of gentle rapids to make it exciting! Our guide, SARAH, was amazing; not only with her navigation and instructions but also giving us interesting information/history about the canyon, river, etc. My husband and I are in our mid 60s rafting with family members in the same age range. We ended up in the front of the raft and it was simply a blast, I can't wait to do a more challenging trip next time! Rubber booties are provided but I recommend something with a more substantial sole, also a wide brimmed hat, sunscreen, and be prepared to get wet! I can't say enough good things about Defiance Rafting, although we are partial to Sarah, the entire staff are super friendly, professional and accommodating to any special needs or circumstances. - A4542IKamys0 contributionsAmazing staff make for an amazing tripWe are a family of 4 (kids 11 and 8) all first time Whitewater rafting. It was so much fun! We left wanting to do it again. Time on the water is never wasted, friends. We saw a juvenile bald eagle and an adult, as well as mountain goats. Ben was great; calm, knowledgeable, and experienced. The whole operation is well-run with smart, professional, and sassy staff (hey Mike) who love what they do. We changed our minds upon arriving to go for a trip with rapids. The rapids were awesome. I'm so glad we went for it. No fuss was made, they just made it happen. They are the folks you want guiding you. I couldn't imagine going with anyone else.Written August 16, 2023

I was very nervous going through the rapids but he did it like a rock star!! He told us all kinds of info going through the canyon and along the river. Next time I’ll do the full day trip. At check-in, during the safety discussion, on the bus ride and on the river, the staff and guides were professional and fun. Charlie, our guide down the river, kept us entertained and safe. He guided us down about 16 miles of river, making sure everone had an opportunity to get splashed by the 54 degree river water. He navigated us through 8-10 sections of rapids, and because the river was still high with runoff, a couple of them were close to class 3. We had a blast and no time during the trip did we feel unsafe or out of control. It was a great trip.

Start to finish amazing trip. Very organized and you can tell the staff really cares about your experience and your safety. Erin was our guide and she did a great job with my kiddos. She had to reassure a couple of them after the safety lecture that we were just doing a "float" and we weren't going to hit any major rapids and possibly go overboard :) We got splashed and dipped just enough to cool us off make it super fun! It was a first time rafting for all of us and we can't wait to do it again!

The Scenic Canyon Float is a crowd pleaser for families and provides a welcomed cool down from the sun! Thanks for bringing the kiddos out for some family fun and we hope to see you again next season!

Wonderful trip down 17 miles of the Colorado River - our guides Taylor and Jeremy made it extra special. We had such a great time, got soaked (and the water in early May is COLD) but didn’t care because we had so much fun. The scenery was stunning and we can’t wait to go back and do it again. I’ve done 3 similar raft trips in Alaska and Canada for about twice the cost and this was just as much fun. What a great time and I can’t wait to go again!

Hands down one of the best things that I've ever experienced and I owe it to Defiance. Everything concerning the experience was done professionally and our guide, Lily handled everything with the perfect amount of formal instruction combined with a massive dose of humor. It made the trip (and first raft ride) down with my wife and family (folks that flew down for a visit from Buffalo, NY, no less) everything I could've hoped for! We'll be back soon!!!

I was scared at first but Tanner made me and my husband feel very comfortable before during and after the trip. He was very knowledgeable and kept everyone laughing and even played music. It was the most fun EVER!!!!! Thanks Tanner. YOU ROCK!!!

This is a beautiful and relaxing float! We had Taylor for a guide and she was interesting and friendly. As Coloradans that have rafted with other companies, we know that this one is safety-conscious and experienced.
The only reason we don't give this company a 5 is that we don't feel a 2-hour trip is accurately titled as a half-day trip.

We had a unique experience as there was a forest fire that restricted our trip. The owners did everything in their power and were cleared to get us on the river after a delay. They treated us like family and we just hung out and talked while waiting for the authorities to clear us. Once on the water, Charlotte was an amazing guide. Fun and friendly. She showed us a great time. At the end of our ride we stopped at a small beach and did some swimming. Would definitely recommend.

Not a particularly outdoorsy person, I was tolerant of family plans for a calm-water river rafting excursion. Joke’s on me! I had a marvelous time. Just enough whitewater for a bit of a splash, but no white knuckling. Our guide and raftrunner, Charlotte, was delightful, friendly, calm, and in control.
Rafts, personal flotation devices, splash gear are all clean and in good condition. My wife chose this company based on reviews from others and it really paid off.
We are already planning a return with more family members.

Defiance Rafting delivered a fun on-the-water experience for our family of six (kids 17, 14, 11, and 10). Our guide, Greg, was very nice and engaging, and the scenery through the canyon was beautiful. The reason for 4 out of 5 really has nothing to do with Defiance. In short, if you are looking to raft in Colorado, there might be better river routes, as the Colorado River through Glenwood Canyon runs right along I-70. Again, Defiance delivered a good experience; they can’t do anything about their route. One other suggestion for visitors to Defiance: wear shoes that can get wet and have a back strap on them (i.e. not flip flops), otherwise you will have to wear their river booties (kind of gross).

We took the scenic trip and my wife was very hesitant about going. We had great time with a very competent guide. The only complaint I had was we had to carry the raft up after we were done I am almost 60 and my brother almost 70 and it was heavy with four of us carrying it up stairs to the trailer.
