- SoftieClouds0 contributionsSuccessful lifetime experience!Highly recommend this company! You’re up in the air for an hour. The basket you’re in is divided into sections so you have your own basket space (shown picture). The one flying the hot air balloon knows his stuff, a well experienced and friendly guy. He is the owner’s son and he practiced flying hot air balloons ever since he was young. No food provided but there are drinks provided at the end. Feel free to ask any questions it helps to keep conversation going when up in the air :)Written March 13, 2023

- TravelGypsy20190 contributionsAmazing ride!We had an incredible experience. It was amazing how we gracefully lifted off the ground and the landing was just as smooth. We did have to reschedule because of weather. Although disappointed, it was the right call. David, our pilot, wanted us to have the best experience possible so going up in thick fog was not an option. Great customer service. They called us as soon as the office opened to either get a refund or reschedule. We fortunately were rescheduled for the next day. Thanks again David for making our ride a memorable experience.Written August 25, 2021

- abbybee20 contributionsAmazing ExperienceThis was a great experience! We had a stunning day with blur skies for miles. Plus the whole event was a family affair. The son was our driver, the dad was out hot air balloon guide/pilot (?), and the mom served us breakfast, mimosas, and wine. Note: they have numerous other employees, we just happened to have the whole family. The balloon ride itself was fun and definitely a bucket list item. One thing to note, even if it’s cold outside, once you’re in the balloon, the hot air/fire they blow into the balloon does radiate warmth. Still dress appropriately but make sure you can easily remove layers if need be. The breakfast after was filling and they had enough for the second balloon that came in a 15-20 minutes after us. We also got some delicious mimosas and the mom let us try some of the winery’s delicious Zinfandel. Highly recommend you book your hot air balloon ride with California Dreamin’!Written March 22, 2020
- 194dorothyj0 contributionsChristmas gift from the kidsWe highly recommend taking a balloon ride with California Dreaming. Dylan was our captain and he did a terrific job of explaining things and pointing out points of interest. This family run business has respect for their employees as well as their guests. Overall, a wonderful experience.Written January 7, 2020
- McBroomsTravel0 contributionsHighlight of our Trip!We loved our flight with California Dreamin and highly recommend them for anyone who is thinking of taking a hot air balloon ride! It was definitely the highlight of our trip to California! We had a great pilot and a hard-working crew! I can't wait to return someday although this was definitely a bucket list item checked off for me. Everyone was so friendly and breakfast was fun to sit and look out onto the vineyards while enjoying the morning! Be sure to let them know if you're celebrating, too! You will get the extra mile from this company. Book them for sure!Written November 20, 2019
- Groze170 contributionsExcellent Adventure and ServiceWonderful experience exactly as advertised. Prompt pick up at 5:05am and transport to the family winery to meet other guests, then transport to launch site. They explained process (they were testing winds and best place to launch) and time required to test everything. Once launched, lovely ride- only 10 people and the pilot was super experienced, knowledgable, friendly, and informative. It was a beautiful ride and sunrise. After the ride we were transported back to the winery for a delicious breakfast (the bread was unreal) and even had a birthday surprise set up for my wife. Great experience and couldn't of asked for anything different or to be improved.Written August 27, 2019

They are many people here writing reviews about not getting a ride and not getting their money back either. WARNING please AVOID this place. They charged me $420 and they didn't give me a ride. They told me they put me on standby list but I read reviews about people who were in standby list for a YEAR until they got their ride. They are really nice when they want to charge you but they become really rude when you try to reschedule another time

We were so sorry that you missed your flight on July 4th. We had those seats available for you and they were empty when we flew our balloon that morning. We know that things happen, but also turned away a lot of passengers for those seats. According to our policy, which you confirmed, we do not offer refunds for no-shows. We did offer you a stand-by for a future flight to be understanding in these trying times. The flight was beautiful that day and we wish that you had made it, as you confirmed over the phone with me the day before that you would.

My favorite part of the balloon ride was the amazing views of Temecula Valley, the sunrise was breathtaking, my 11 year old daughter, my friends and I really enjoyed it! Plus, the service we got from David the owner of the company was totally and absolutely unique. We were the highest balloon up in the sky, he was flying in between the olive trees, and he was telling us about the history of Temecula. He’s a very knowledgeable guy and that made the ride more fun! Completely worth it!
I highly recommend to get a private fly!

Great, friendly experience. This was my second time in a hot air balloon; the previous time I took my grandma up in one for her 80th birthday over Del Mar. This time, however, I was able to see exactly how the tarps are laid, the balloons are inflated, and how they are guided via landing lines once the ride is over. Josh was our pilot, and he made everyone happy when he replied "13 years" to my query of "How long have you been doing this?" We had a great flight, though didn't move to far from our takeoff site, because the winds were very mild; but then again, we didn't want too much wind blowing us all over the place! The ground crew really earn their pay, and everyone was friendly. We also met some cool people, enjoyed some mimosas & extra champagne after the flight. Lastly, we took advantage of 2-for-1 wine tasting tickets, and returned to the Windemia Winery around noon, and did some more tasting!

This was not the first balloon ride I have taken, but it was the first one for my wife, my son and his wife. My wife has always wanted to take a balloon ride and this was a good opportunity while we were in California. My wife and son are both leery of heights, but they had no difficulties in the balloon basket. Getting in and out of the basket was not exactly simple for my wife since she had a knee replacement back in December, but she managed. Actually getting out was more difficult than getting in. The last ride I took was in the desert of Arizona and had somewhat more interesting landscape since we traveled a distance and watched some of the desert animals. The ride in Temecula was great, but the landscape was not the most interesting, especially since we did not travel any great distance while we were up. We were fortunate to have a great pilot that is also an instructor. We went as high as 2,000 feet and it was literally like floating on air. Everyone in the group enjoyed the ride and it was worth getting up so early since we got to see a magnificent sunrise. California Dreamin' did a great job and I would not hesitate to use their service again.

My wife and I went up on May 4th and thoroughly enjoyed the flight. Our pilot was extremely knowledgeable about the history of ballooning and of the surrounding area. He is very experienced and shared more than I can remember. He is the owner of the company.
From the crew to the staff booking the flight to the pilots they are very professional.
They are very concerned with safety. We originally were booked for March 31st, but due to high winds we could not go up, then again on April 3rd, but the fog was too thick to be safe. We held off to try again until we thought the weather was better and had a great time!
We had champagne served after the flight which was totally unexpected.
Everyone that went up that day loved the experience!
I highly recommend California Dreamin’ Hot Air Balloon Tours for a great way to view the wine country of Temecula. Sincerely, Bob Manning

My fiancé surprised me with the sunrise balloon flight and it was truly amazing. I am slightly afraid of heights but never once felt unsafe in the balloon. Dylan was our pilot and he was very relaxed and knowledgable about the area. The views are stunning, I don't know where else you can see views like this and from all different heights.
The mimosas and breakfast afterward were a nice touch. Nothing fancy but perfect after the ride. You also get a 2 for 1 tasting coupon which is a great deal and the winery is amazing (separate review on that).
The only thing I will say is that its quite cold early in the morning, especially in the winter months, so make sure to bundle up well. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone interested in this kind of experience.

Who knew that flying a hot air balloon was so intricate in many levels? Not only is it necessary to start in the wee hours of the morning when the winds are the calmest in a day and temperatures mild, it also requires a whole crew to set up and find the right spot to take off. What determines that perfect location is figuring out the direction of the wind and that in itself takes serious skill and years of experience.
We were a bit nervous that morning due to strong winds in the forecast but we were assured our flight was a go. After checking in at Vindemia Winery before sunrise, we all boarded our coaster van while lugging behind us all the equipment for this adventure we were about to embark on. A few stops were made until the captain decided on the ideal location to set up for our flight. And as all of that unraveled before our eyes, we were all in awe of the whole operation especially when we started seeing other balloons take flight before us. Alas, our turn has come and off we went up, up, and away. It felt like a dream as I saw everything shrink below our basket. The view up there was breathtaking.
It was a good hour until we landed. It wasn't the easiest landing due to the wind but somehow our captain made it happen, maybe less smooth than usual with our basket almost tipping over but the adrenaline rush and mimosa in the end made up for it. Wow, what a ride!

Annivesary balloon ride, could not have been a better time. Dylan the pilot (also owner's son) was very calm and knowledgeable and I was confident in his skills after speaking with him. Entire process from t he 5 am show time to the traditional champagne toast was smooth. The balloon staff who blew up and took down the balloon worked with precision to get us up for the lovely sunrise. And we got a free bottle of wine due to our anniversary along with photos by the staff. Can I give this 6 stars?? Highly recommend. Yes its a little pricy but its a once in a lifetime experience for me so its definitely worth it. NOTE: someone on our basket got a little peaked mid-flight, it does get a little hot if you are under the burner so make sure you are hydrated (like maybe dont drink a bunch of wine the night before) or if you think you are going to be air sick take a position away from right under the burner.

My sister and I had an amazing time. We checked hot air balloon flight off our bucket list. The view was breathtaking. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was pretty cool seeing how they prepare the hot air balloon for takeoff. Getting in and out of the hot air balloon was a bit tricky. The staff set it up for my sister to get a picture with their bday sign before take off. I gifted her the flight for her 50th bday. After the flight we sang happy birthday and ate bday cake at the winery with the other customers. They also had a nice light breakfast for us that consisted of breads, mimosas, fruit, spreads, cheeses, coffee and juice. I would love to do this again with my boyfriend.

This company runs a first class operation, from the first contact I had with them talking with Jenn, to working with our pilot Dylan on the flight. We gave our 5 children and their spouses a hot air balloon ride as a Christmas present, having been on one ourselves, many years earlier. Only three of them were able to make it on this trip. California Dreamin' did not disappoint. They were very professional and courteous, as well as friendly and accommodating. Our other two children and spouses have not been on their balloon adventure yet, but we will definitely be booking with this company again in the fall. They are not the least expensive, but they certainly live up to their fine reputation. I would highly recommend for families also - Six of the grandchildren (ages 7 to 13) went and they had a ball too.

Is there a weight limit to get on the hot air balloon?
Written October 6, 2019
There is no weight limit per se. You will be on the balloon ride with several other people. I can't remember, but they may ask for your weight when booking the trip in order to make sure the total weight is not over what the balloon can carry.
Written October 6, 2019
Hi, I am hoping to ride one with my kids. I want to make sure that they are tall enough to ride and see outside. Could you please let us know the hight of the basket/envelop?
Written April 29, 2019
My best recollection is that standing in the basket is about 3 1/2 to 4 feet. But I would call the tour company and ask them directly. They may even have a solution for this issue, i.e., small footstool, etc.

Hi
I am planning to go on this balloon ride with my family ( wife and two kids ..13 yrs and 9yrs old )
What time should we reach the place and what time does the balloon ride start .
Thank you
Bhaskar
Written April 22, 2019
It all begins very early. Most people spend the night before in the area. You will need to arrive at approximately 6am. The balloon rides all start early to avoid wind issues that can occur later in the day. If you live in L.A. or Orange County you can leave your home very early and still make it in time. It is worth the time and effort!
