About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Trek030419196530 contributionsWine Tasting at Low Season.Tour guide was very knowledgeable about wine and the local area. Very nice and welcoming. Lunch was not as expected but ok. The fact that he continue with the tour with just us was great. The other place canceled because they didn't have the number of folks wanted. Will highly recommend this outfit.Written January 10, 2024
- greeneyedfish10 contributionsBeautiful views and fantastic wineSuper fun. Was paired with a great group of people. The driver was fantastic and picked great places that were fairly close to one another so we didn’t spend a lot of time driving between vineyards. Had a good pace to the day and lunch was delicious. Very relaxing and enjoyable afternoon.Written July 5, 2023
- ItsMyScreenName0 contributionsAn excellent primer on Paso Robles wine country, can be personalized to your needsSmall group, max 6 people, makes for a nice time. The tour guide was knowledgeable and he focused our more experienced group on family estate wineries. He was able to discuss lots of details including microclimate, terrior, etc. and how the various methods of growing work in different areas. Most of his advice was spot on and we enjoyed his commentary; when we were at the facilities, he did not intrude at all, and yet was friendly. He provided cold bottled water on this hot day and a picnic lunch from a local deli was provided. We enjoyed ourselves very much!Written April 23, 2023
- Tourtheworld320 contributionsGreat Tour and GuideWe usually go out on our own to do wine tasting but this time we thought if we used a tour we might find some smaller wineries off the beaten path - we were not wrong. Tony picked us up on time and after asking our preferences in wine chose 4 wineries to visit. All ones we had never been to before and all wonderful. Tony was fun, talkative, easy to be around and we never felt rushed (okay, maybe just for a second towards the very end - but I wanted to be done too so it was okay). It was just the 2 of us and we like to take our time. I'm sure if it was a larger group it may have gone faster. He provided a light lunch and plenty of water. If you have any questions about where to go, definitely use this company and ask for Tony!!!Written March 18, 2023

- 258arleend0 contributionsKeith is the bestWe had a tour with Keith and Wine Wrangler. He took us to beautiful wineries and we had a wonderful time with him. He listened to our preferences and knew just where to take us for wine tasting. A great experience! Can’t wait to return!Written September 29, 2022
- MarieP8580 contributionsGreat adventure! We came to Pismo to celebrate our anniversary. We scheduled the day tour. Our guide Tony picked us up at our hotel on time. He made our tour a fun and informative romp. The lunch was perfect and the wines superb! We definitely enjoyed ourselves and will return again.Written September 9, 2022
- KirstenJ1760 contributionsI.e., overly-priced UberOur tour guide was great, but frankly, you are just overpaying for an Uber ride. This tour starts at $150 per person, and it does not include tastings, food, snacks — nothing (at least the half day tours). It is simply a pick up from your hotel to two small and quiet/empty/random wineries. You’d do yourself a service by just ordering an Uber to the wineries of your choice. You’ll cover more ground that way, save money, and actually be able to visit the wineries you are interested in. Also, customer service was evasive and dismissive about pricing.Written July 16, 2022
- Eagleone30 contributionsGreat experience!Tony was fantastic. Super friendly and a wealth of wine knowledge. He set up the wine tastings and was able to add one that we requested. We will be back.Written June 22, 2022
- paulsvawter0 contributionsGreat wine tasting, learning, conversation & hospitalityDoor to door service was great (even though the “standard” hotel locations did not include RV Wine Country Resort in Paso Robles…you should add that option to the website/options) Web booking was a little wonky (iPhone, tablet , and laptop froze up at the same place), but a call to the easily available phone number worked well. (I talked to a human!). We booked late the day prior to our request tour day, so our tour guide/driver was unable to make reservations for us (they need at least 1 full day advance notice-it’s covid, y’all!) But, Tony made everything work out great! Though we booked the group 5-hr day with a boxed lunch, we had the van and Tony all to ourselves. So we got the 5-star custom tour experience…luck was on our side, I suppose :D Tony picked three great places on the west side of Paso for us after a few preference questions and a suggestion for us Paso Robles rookies. (User tip: we learned it’s cooler on the west side) We got so involved with great hosts and the tastings that we forgot about our box lunch! That’s okay…we got great restaurant suggestions along the way, which we enjoyed that evening! ( helpful tip: make a reservation at least the day before if you can. It may look like there’s room, but short staff and hours limit seating … or plan to eat earlier, like 4:30). All in all, a fabulous day of learning, wine tasting, conversation, and hospitality! Cheers!Written June 10, 2022
- Travels19970 contributionsRelaxing, enjoyable day in PasoVery intimate, relaxed wine tour of 2 wineries. Tour guides provided recommendations and managed reservations for us. - Zann Y0 contributionsExcellent service. We had an excellent day with Tony, who was extremely knowledgeable about wines and the area. He was at our pick up point promptly and well prepared with waters and our lunch. The wineries we went to were all great and we appreciated having input into which wineries to visit. Tony took care of us all day. We appreciate his excellent service and friendly attitude. We will definitely use his wine tour service again when visiting this area.Written March 25, 2022
- FatTom690 contributionsPerfect Afternoon of WineOur time with Wine Wrangler was excellent. Our guide Tony was amazing. He called the day before to discuss preferences and then planned the perfect afternoon. He was incredibly personable and knowledgeable. More so than that he knew everyone and everyone knew him wherever we went. I can’t recommend this enough.Written October 7, 2021

Do not go with Mike. I expected this tour to practice the minimum Covid safety practices of requiring passengers to wear a mask in the van - but even our tour guide, Mike, was not wearing a mask! Also, they booked us as one group at every winery, so instead of allowing separate parties on the same tour to enjoy the experience separately we were forced to hangout and sit next to the strangers on our tour for hours while sipping wine. If one of these fellow passengers had Covid I certainly would have it by now. And, we did not get any wine knowledge from this tour. Mike didn’t speak a word all day. Even the other passengers, who I didn’t care for, remarked on how odd it was we didn’t learn anything from the tastings. In fact, Mike hadn’t even been to any of the four wineries we went to! I think you would be better off Ubering between wineries rather than doing this tour.

Be aware of cancellation fees! We cancelled four days in advance and they still charged $ 30 for the cancellation. Supposedly it said so in the fine print (who has time to read that?), but it did not spell it out in the confirmation. They did offer to changed the date 1 x gratis, but that did not work for us.
There response was "If you did not read them before checking the T&C box (see your reservation confirmation) to complete your reservation, please do not blame us."
That to me is not smart customer service.
We do not recommend them.

Our our Wine Wrangler experience started with two couples getting picked up from the front door of our hotel, La Bellasera. Our Driver and tour guide, Peter was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. We visited four wineries that were approximately within a three mile radius of our hotel. The cost was $636 for four people and additional tasing fees: Peach Canyon $12 pp waived with a bottle of wine purchase; Castoro $20 pp waived with a $50 wine purchase; Summer Wood$40 pp waived with a bottle of wine purchase and Hunts had no tasting fee. Lunch was supposed to be included but there was one lunch missing so our group had to share. I would recommend catching an Uber and visiting the winery and saving $600.

This was our second time visiting Paso Robles and first time on a wine tour. We had a wonderful time on our day tour with Tony. We were picked up from our hotel promptly and spent the day with another couple and a mother daughter team. We all had a blast with Tony, our tour guide. He provided us with information about each winery we visited, oftentimes sharing many interesting tidbits that only people who actually have a personal relationship and mutual respect for the small community with which they reside. We were provided a delicious lunch of roast beef or turkey sandwiches, carrot sticks, pasta salad and a cookie. Water was offered frequently and he made sure to take good care of us all day. His knowledge of the wine making process was exceptional and you can really tell that Tony enjoys his job meeting new people. Wineries visited were Tobin James, Steinbeck, Windward and Croad. All were uniquely different and offered a glimpse into the intricacies involved in producing excellent wines and the potential issues that Mother Nature can deliver positively or negatively. We thoroughly enjoyed our wine tour and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to just sit back and relax in an air conditioned van, sip away and leave the rest to Tony!

We did two tours with Wine Wrangler, the full-day Wrangler Adventure as well as a full-day private tour.
Right up front Coy did a great job in understanding what we wanted to see and do and put together two great itineraries for us.
Pete was our driver for the Wrangler Adventure which covered four wineries (Calcareous, Asunción Ridge, Ecluse and Grey Wolf) with only six of us in the group. Pick up was at our door and was right on time. Pete was a great tour guide and did a wonderful job of talking about the the various wineries and the area in general. Lunch was included and was really good (wrap from Templeton Market and Deli). This was a great way for us to get our first experience with these Paso Wineries.
Keith was our driver for the private tour and didn’t disappoint! The itinerary included two wineries we chose (DAOU and Eberle) and Coy added McPrice-Myers to round out the day. We were running way ahead of schedule after our first two stops but Keith was able to get us into Eberle early and in time for a cave tour. Since we still had some time he recommended adding a stop at the nearby Rails Nap winery. We had another great boxed lunch from the same place.
Overall, this was a great experience. Wine Wrangler did a wonderful job of getting to know us and putting together two great itineraries! Pete and Keith were terrific! We would definitely do this again.

All we can say is... BOOK THIS TOUR. And when you do make sure to ask for Tony. He was so knowledgeable and provided so much color on the town, the area, the winemakers, and... the wine! We will be back and when we do we are calling Wine Wrangler and asking for Tony. Thank you for a great experience!

Don’t get fooled by the headline, no adventure, no tour, you’ll be basically paying for an overpriced uber services. I am indescribably unhappy..I paid $230 for this tour for 2 people hoping that we will meet likeminded wine enthusiasts in our group and will have an enjoyable wine tasting. To our surprise and disappointment, the van came and there was absolutely no one besides us. NO GROUP, only the driver. He felt awkward as well, understanding the situation, he started talking about local vineyards, asking questions to keep a conversation (BTW I want to emphasize that I have absolutely no complaints towards the poor driver, he was doing his best to escape the awkwardness of the situation)
It was so pointless, that we did not even go to the 2nd winery (which was supposed to be included in our package). We asked to be driven back to hotel after the first winery… Absolute scam and the worst part is that I tried to talk to the organizers/management team prior to leaving this review, but they are so rude and unprofessional that did not even call me back after multiple phone calls and voice mails! And the funniest part is that they have specific mentioning:
“ This experience requires a minimum number of travelers. If it's canceled because the minimum isn't met, you'll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund”
Guess what, my partial refund request was rejected….

My husband and I booked a last minute tour and had an absolute blast! Tony picked us up from our hotel and we were pleasantly surprised to find out we’d be the only people on the tour. Tony asked us a few questions to get an idea of what we liked and when we told him we were into more small/family owned businesses he said he knew exactly where to take us! Tony shared stories of the various wineries we visited and was extremely knowledgeable. We had such a wonderful time and highly recommend Tony whether you’re a wine expert or novices like us! We would definitely take a tour with Tony again, thank you so much for a wonderful afternoon! ( The provided lunch was also delicious!)

Went on a half day tour this past weekend with my girlfriend. Tony from wine wranglers picked us up from our Hotel at 1030am. Tony definitely made the entire experience a memorable one for us both. He was VERY knowledgeable and had an extremely welcoming personality. He took us to 3 awesome wineries where we had tastings and learned about the history of Paso Robles. Absolutely i would recommend booking a tour and requesting Tony as your guide, you wont be disappointed!

We had a half day tour with Tony and had the most fabulous time! Tony took care to select wineries for us to visit based on our interests and shared with us the history of the area and some interesting stories about the wineries. He went above and beyond by recommending restaurants for us for dinner and even checking reservations. My mom and I had a fabulous time and when we're back in Paso Robles we'll look forward to seeing Tony on another tour!

What hotels does the tour pick up from?
For the half day option, what time does it start and end?
Written September 20, 2020
Does the cost for the full day tour option include tastings or do we have to pay a separate tasting fee for each winery?
Written February 24, 2020
Our tastings were separate but we found the tasting fees to be much more affordable than other wine regions we have visited. Plus if you buy bottles some of the wineries waive the tasting fees.

Our driver knew our preferences ahead of time - red wine over white, preferably a good malbec, and he chose accordingly. We skipped the big commercial wineries and explored 5 boutique wineries: Eberle, which included the wine cave tour, Via Vega, Pear Valley, Glunz and Rotta. We purchased reds at each and joined the winr clubs at Via Vega and Rotta after we enjoyed the wines at home. Trust your guide - they know their stuff.
