    Up, Up and Away!
One of the most popular attractions in Palm Springs, and easy to see why. Situated 8100 feet above sea level, you get a pretty good view of the area. The tram that takes you to the top rotates, so that you get a 360 degree view as you journey up to the top. So don’t worry about where you are in the tram when you get in. You’ll rotate around. Once you go up the tramway to the top, there are various viewpoints and trails. People who are afraid of heights did not enjoy this, based on what I saw in the time I was there. A definite “must do” if you are in Palm Springs. Go early in the morning, as it gets busy quickly. The temperature is 10-20 degrees F cooler up there, so be warned you might want to bring along a jacket.

Wish we could have bought our tickets online...
The tram itself is amazing. The floor rotates and it speeds up the mountain. Loved that part. Parking was $15, which was a little pricey, but we got the food option added to our ticket, which was only $10, and although a cafeteria-type meal, still probably underpriced, a rarity these days. I felt like the parking subsidized the meal. Tickets are available online or in person. I think the way they do this makes no sense. They allocate a certain number of tickets to sell online, but then say they rarely actually sell out of in person tickets, so if they are sold out online, just come in person. So they were sold out online the day we wanted to go, so we drove up there in person. But the wait time once we got there was two hours. I wish they had just let us buy a ticket online, so we could have timed our arrival better and not had to sit around two hours. It was really cold at the top in April. Dress warm. They had hiking and camping options that looked really fun. We might go back someday for the hiking and camping part. Overall, a good time.

    Pre book, we missed out
If you want to do this pre book, wait was too long for us to wait around so sadly we missed out on this. I had heard views great and trails to do at top so think would have been good.

    Exploring Palm Springs
absolutely amazing! The ride up the mountain is both thrilling and beautiful, offering incredible views of the desert landscape below. Once you reach the top, there's so much to explore, from hiking trails to a cozy restaurant with delicious food. It's definitely a must-do experience if you're in Palm Springs!

    Beautiful
We just love this tramway. It is great for families with kids who don't want to hike and for those that can not handle hiking. It can be very hot in Palm Springs so we avoid the summer. The tram is such a great way to see the dessert and all of it is magical. The trams have AC when needed and the price is fair. You will be able to see so much on the tram. At the Mountain Station when you reach the top you can enjoy viewpoints they have a cocktail lounge, and a nice gift shop. We love the Natural History Museum and the two documentary movies about the. Tramway. They have 2 places to eat, you can dine at one of the two restaurants, Peaks Restaurant offers fine dining, while the Pines Restaurant offers an affordable self-serve alternative. Construction of the Tramway began 1963. The first tower is the only one that can be reached by road. The Tramway has been designated a historical civil engineering landmark. In 1998 the Tramway began its modernization program that would see the installation in 2000 new cars . Since September 2000, passengers ride the world's largest rotating tramcars. It really is a must do in Palm Springs. We go there every time. well almost every time we are in the area.

    Elevated Bliss
It offers a breathtaking journey with stunning views of the Coachella Valley. The tram ride itself is exhilarating, and once at the top, the mountain station provides a serene escape. Enjoy hiking trails, a unique dining experience, and panoramic vistas. A must-visit for nature lovers and those seeking a quick getaway from the desert heat!

    A remarkable experience
Wow is all I can say. This very popular attraction draws tourists and locals. We were there during Modernism week so the crowds were large. The wait was 2-3 hours, but a few days later, we only waited a little over an hour. Even in the lounge waiting area there is a cafeteria, historical review and gift shop. There is a lovely outdoor waiting area. The experience is very organized with times listed on your ticket. There are two trams that travel back and forth. Each car holds approximately 30 people - quite large. Going up the mountain is both exciting and daunting. Arrival at the top is awesome. It is a state park at the top with trails, a restaurant, cafeteria and gift shop. I would definitely recommend this experience - unless you can't handle heights.

Tip: try and get there for first tram ride up and avoid parking issues and crowds.
Outstanding visit. The process of boarding and deboarding are simple enough. Tram gets up the mountain lickity split…the views are amazing. Once up top you can picnic or get fast food or sit down and order a meal with an alcoholic beverage. There are also a couple hikes. The Desert View Trail has several spectacular overlooks. The day was easily worth the cost.

Very Nice Experience For a Family
Very good ride to the top of the mountain, nice view. They have a shop, a cafetería and restaurant at the top. You can walk around the nature, seeing plants and animals. I was told that you can make hiking and camping in summer time.

    Beautiful Views
We aren’t actually teens but I had no other option. My sis and I had a good time on the tram but more so at the top of the mountain. It was beautiful. The restaurant wasn’t open when we entered but the cafe was. Not great food but it was okay.

    Scary but fun
This ride goes high and rotates. It was terrifying and wonderful. Book your ticket in advance to save time. There can be an issue getting an Uber/Lyft to pick you up here - we had to walk about a mile to get one. Take a car or arrange a pick up in advance.

Best way to start our visit to Palm Springs - million dollar view with nice hiking trails
We arrived before 9:00 am on a Saturday and there was no line, got tickets and got on the next tram. They charge for parking at the entrance gate, at the early time, we got to park in the closest parking lot. That would be our tip, as when we left after lunch, there were a lot of people waiting and they were announcing the time slots. The world’s largest rotating tram that travels over two-and-one-half miles for about ten minute. There is no "bad spot, as the tram rotate slowly, so everyone will get a good view. The Mountain Station has an elevation of 8,516 feet, make sure you dress for the temperature. In December, it was in the 40s. After a long descent on the steep paved path, we did a couple of hiking trails. The Desert View Trail is about 1.5 miles. Loop trail that had 5 "notches" vista view spots to the valley. Spectacular!! Long Valley Discovery Trail is also a loop trail less than a mile long. Fairly flat that takes you across creek offering a nice nature walk. The climb back up to the Mountain Station is quite a work out! We stayed and had lunch in the Peaks Restaurant, definitely recommend you reserve a table. It overlooks the viewing deck, and from there, you can climb up for an even better view of Coachella Valley down below. Before leaving, we walked to the small waterfalls (Johnson Falls) This is a "must do" to us when visiting Palms Springs. It was a great way to start our vacation. We could see why this is a very popular attraction. We thoroughly enjoyed our half a day here.

Best stop while visiting Palm Springs Area
The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway was by far my favorite stop during my entire visit to the greater PS area! We got there somewhat early on a Saturday morning. While there was plenty of parking when we arrived, the tram was fairly packed going up. The sights on the tram were beyond spectacular! The tram operator for the ascent was great. Since the tram noticeably sways in certain spots, she gave us warnings to prepare us so no one would freak out. The tram does rotate on the inside giving you different views during your ride. However, I noticed the tram was more empty on the ride back down, which made for better pictures. Once we arrived at the top of the San Jacinto Mountains, you have access to Mt San Jacinto State Park and Wilderness Area. If you are in moderate to good health walking around the area may not be that difficult, however I can see how some areas may pose problems for those with health and mobility issues. This is not a trip to take if you are thinking of walking around in flip-flops or other non-supportive shoes. The terrain can be somewhat rocky. We went in the winter, so the temperature on top of the mountain was much lower than it was at the check-in/ticket center. I found dressing in layers helpful in managing the temperature changes. The facilities include observation decks (that were jammed with people taking photos) as well as clean restrooms, a cocktail lounge, a gift shop and dining options. I highly recommend visiting the Tramway on your visit to Palm Springs. It was wonderful!

    Yes do it!
This was an awesome experience. We got there at about 15 til ten and we were on the tram at 10! The views were to die for from the tram. However, when we got to the top it was simply amazing. Lunch in the restaurant is a must! We highly recommend.

This was a beautiful way to spend part of the early afternoon in March. In March, there was snow on top of the tram/mountain, and it was in the mid-80's and sunny on valley floor. I can only imagine how welcome the contrast is in prime heat. Slight wait for tram, but it was very reasonable as we didn't get tickets in advance. There were nice areas to enjoy the nature and quiet while you waited as well, and also food if you wanted it. Once up, you could stay up on top of the mountain as little or as long as you liked and exploring the trails in snow was fun. On the way down, our tram operator even played music to entertain the crowds which was a nice diversion for those like me who are slightly afraid of heights. But even if you are slightly afraid of heights, I'd suggest this as a way to get the lay of the land in this beautiful part of the country. This would also be interesting to do multiple times to appreciate seasonal and weather differences.

We rode the aerial tram in March 2020. This has been on our bucket list for a long time. The ride up takes under 10 minutes and it features a canned commentary on the history of the tram, the area and the geology that created the Mountains. Once on top, there are numerous pathways that allow you to walk around the top of the mountain. There was still snow on the ground when we visited. The main dining room did not open until 5:00 pm and unless you bought a dining package online, you have to take a chance that you will get seated. While we enjoyed the experience, the near $60 price tag for two seemed high.

We booked a visit through Trip advisor, because the write ups we read sounded like we would enjoy the trip. Well it exceeded our expectations, and was a wonderful experience! We went up at 4:30 to see the views during the day, and stayed through the evening to see the beautiful Palm Springs city lights it was awesome! We also did the 1.5 mile view hike, in a foot of snow. It was 75 in the valley and 45 at the top very refreshing on the hike in the pines! We had dinner and cocktails after the hike and really enjoyed everything 😊! If you're in the Palm Springs area this is a must do attraction, you'll love it!!!

The tram was fun (its only 12 or so minutes to the top) but the elevator at the top was broken (has been broken for over 1 month) so there is NO ACCESS to the hiking trails without the elevator if a person (like myself) is handicapped and uses an electric scooter. The tram itself is accessible (I drove onto the tramcar, no issue) but then at the top, there was a staircase that a person would need to go down one flight to be able to access the trails. Same to get to the restaurant on the upper floor - without the elevator there was no access. There was a handicapped sign in multiple locations before buying tickets saying that the elevator at "Mountain Station" was being repaired but nowhere is there any signage telling you that access to the trails or restaurant is not possible for wheelchairs or scooters or anyone who can't navigate steps! We stayed at the top for just 10 minutes and then headed down. They refunded the cost of the tram which was over $50. The views were nice but just wish we could have spent time hiking. Very disappointing.

Great views from the mountaintop, especially as the sun set. But the bar was quite pricey, the wait staff was surly and the gourmet restaurant didn't appear to have a view of the valley. Plus, parking is $8 before you get into the venue to ask questions. However, it's really fun!
Going from the valley to the mountaintop, walking/hiking in the state park, looking at the lights in the valley below - all way cool.

We spent around $80 for our family of 4 to ride the tram and visit the state park. Adult tickets were $30 each and our 2 year old rode for free. Our 6 year old loved the visit, admittedly our 2 year old both loved it and hated the waiting parts. The sell tickets online however if the tickets on line appear sold out they hold back tickets to sell on site which is how we visited. I would recommend coming early as it was very busy when we left, and we were able to get on the tram about 30 minutes after we arrived and got our tickets. There is food and gifts both at the top and bottom and trams run every 12 minutes. I would also recommend checking the conditions at the top the day you visit on the tram website. While it was beautiful when we visited it was 40F and sunny with ice and snow on the ground, so it was nice to dress appropriately since it was 60F in Palm Springs that morning. Be prepared that the walk to the trails from the station at the top is a winding paved route that is steep, so in the winter, shoes with traction are recommended. Overall we definitely recommend the trip.

Took my daughter and granddaughter. We had the tram ride and dinner at the top package. The tram ride is spectacular. I have been on several teams but this was by far the best. It is daunting to see how steep it is from the starting area and a bit scary looking but is well worth the ride. Be sure to dress for cold weather because the temperature is usually at least 40 degrees colder than in town. We went up around 5 pm so got to see the view of the city below in daylight and the city lights at night on the way down. This is a must see if you are in Palm Springs.

One of the best things to do in Palm Springs! If you can't take the 100+ degree temperatures in the valley, just take the tram to San Jacinto Peak where it will probably be in the 70's. Unless you don't like heights or the fact that the car rotates 360 degrees as you ascend, it's the best $29 you'll spend in Palm Springs.

There is a bar and cafe at the top, picnic area and easy hiking trails with great views.

The Aerial tramway is really fun! It takes some time because you purchase tickets and then wait for your assigned time, unless you get your tickets in advance online. We had a great time hanging out on the terrace while we awaited our trip. Bring some snacks and sunscreen for the top. The views on the way up and down are just amazing. It's colder at the top, so make sure you are prepared with a jacket, etc. We saw families bringing a picnic for the top, and people set out on hiking trails.

Have been by Palm Springs a few times and always meant to go on the tramway. Finally did it in late January and it was a nice experience. The weather was good, and with great visibility from up top My wife was apprehensive about doing this, but really the gondola is large enough and stable enough that it feels pretty solid, and even she didn't mind the jolts as you go by the towers. The rotating floor is very good.. everybody gets to see everything! Up top there was a bit of snow to remind us of what we left back in Canada. The gift shops up top and down below have a lot of interesting items and I found the prices to be quite reasonable. Our visit was really quite brief but another time I would like to walk some of the trails up on the top.
