    Fraudulent
Should be more Dauphins watching than whale watching, but that’s not as fraudulent as the fact that their website states that it is FREE for Toddlers (Ages 0 - 2) (see screenshot attached) and when we were about to board they charged for our 1.5yo toddler AND for our 2-month old baby!! It was that or we were losing our tickets/money. Plus their staff will lie until you show them the webpage and then will somehow suggest that you’re the one in the wrong for trusting the info on their own website. Terrible.

All day fishing form Newport Landing.
I need to tell you that we were upset with them switching us to the smaller boat ( Aggressor) I paid for a limited load on the Patriot. They put us on the much smaller boat the Aggressor. 32 people on the Aggressor is NOT A LIMITED LOAD. I brought my 7 year old Grandson to help teach him how to fish. No chance. He was run over with so many people several times. The crew was excellent. They tried to help as much as they can, but when you have all of those people on a small boat, they had their hands full of tangles. Again, I am very disappointed and upset with them switching us to the smaller Aggressor.

They don't care if you get on the boat, they got your money!
**FISHERMEN BEWARE** ONCE THEY GET YOUR MONEY IT'S GONE! The parking is out of control around there, basically, they don't have their own parking lot, so you will spend your time trying to find a spot either on the street or in a pay lot, which happened to all be FULL. I'll never book this trip again, searched for a parking place for over 45 minutes and couldn't find one. No parking place, no fishing. What a joke! Your better off driving to Dana Wharf Sportfishing, they have plenty of parking for their customers. Never again!

Great time on the ocean. We did the half day fishing 12:30-5pm. The crew was very helpful with getting all the poles ready for fishing prior to us getting the the spot. It was nice they took the time to help out everyone who needed some guidance. I believe everyone caught a fish. The boat was clean and everyone had a great time. It was neat to see 3 people on our boat catch Yellow tail tuna. Would highly recommend.

    Reduced crods during COVID.
We departed at 12:30 pm for a half day. Due the the COVID pandemic, it was advertised as reduced capacity, and in fact, it wasn't so crowded, maybe about thirty fishermen, that was good. They took us to a spot 2-3 miles off shore, good because there was less travel time, not so good was the type of fish we brought in, small and not so many of them. I caught two keepers, whitefish. Everybody has to rent a catch bag for $2.00, not sure why that isn't built in to the price. Staff was very helpful and friendly. It's not their fault that some fisherman got his numbers mixed up and took my fish.An enjoyable time, but next time I'll look elsewhere.

Not a bad experience, but a bad vibe
They were really committed to us having a good time and a successful fishing trip. But at one point the captain ran over the lines of another boat to ensure our success, and that felt wrong to me. Not in the nature of the sport at all. It put a bad taste in my mouth, there's no reason for that.

Deeply Disappointed iIN TRIP ADVISOR, not Newport Beach Sunset Cruise
I had been SO excited to surprise my husband this evening on the sunset cruise out of Newport. I reserved in plenty of time with TripAdvisor. They NEVER sent me my email tickets. I called the headquarters 3 days in a row, asking for help, leaving messages. Got NO response and NO help. After hours trying to figure out the website I just discovered that TripAdvisor took it upon themselves to cancel our activity without my permission. I AM SO ANGRY and so hurt and disappointed. Worst day on the ocean is better than the best day on Land.
I have been out with this company and seen nothing. I have been out and seen dolphins, gray whales, blue whales, schools of fish, sea lions, sea birds...enjoy a cold refreshing beer and some snacks and breath in the sea air. The tour guides are always knowledgeable and the bathrooms are very clean.

    I warmed up
So I’m super honest about my reviews. And, for someone that get motion sickness, I was very skeptical. Also I was a little irritated at the fact that so many people were on the boat and there wasn’t enough seating. Well, there is , but you and your +1 can’t take up a whole bench to yourselves. So I took a deep breath , my husband got me some wine and I asked another couple if we could “snuggle up” with them on the bench (that they were taking up a giant piece of) and we sat down. From that moment until the end of the trip it was great!! The sunset was beautiful, the wine was good and I wasn’t nauseous! #win The staff was good! The snacks were just right and we all started singing to songs that were playing on the boat. I was waving to all the other boaters and I even saw a bride having her first dance with her husband on another boat right across from us!! I yelled and clapped my hands and the some of the other people on the boat joined in with me! That was fun. I forgot my sweater and I’m glad! I was not chilly at all, but my body normal temp is like 900 degrees. This was very enjoyable! But, parking is a nightmare!! Get there early!! Oh! Take the car ferry over! It’s fun and quicker.

    Waste of Money and Time
This is a very poorly executed excursion with hidden costs and horrible service. I booked the trip for my 2 sons and I while on vacation with my family. The trip was a 6am - 12pm 1/2 day trip. We paid about $41 dollars with a Groupon deal which included rod rental. We decided to buy our own tackle from a local sporting goods store instead of paying 9 extra dollars per person for the limited tackle provided by the fishing charter. From the second we entered the boat the crew was very rude. One deck hand walked up to us as we were tying our rigs and said "that is all wrong". When I asked what was wrong with it he said, "did you buy tackle from us" and I said, "no", and he just walked away in a huff. So we finished rigging our lines (per the sporting goods store recommendations) hung them up on the rod holders and then found a place to sit down on the overly crowded boat while we traveled to our first fishing spot. The deck hands pulled our rods down and proceeded to take everything off our rods while making fun of us and then gave my tackle back to me. Then they bad mouthed us about how we rigged it all up to some other passengers and crew members while I was only a few feet away listening. I kept thinking to myself this can't be real. It was the such a ridiculous level of poor service that it was almost comical. In an effort to salvage a good experience for my boys, it was all I could do to let it go and just roll with it. They re-rigged up our lines with their stuff which was appreciated, but It would have been good for them to mention on their web site up front that they cram their boats tight with people, so there is only one rig they allow to minimize tangles and just include it in the price. However, despite the fact that everyone on the ship was forced to use their style of rigging we still spent 25% percent of the trip untangling lines 50% of the trip traveling, and only 25% (1.5 hours) actually fishing. We didn't see any fish caught the size of what they post on their web page. The largest fish caught on the boat was about a 2lb red snapper. Most fish caught were very small (12 inches or less). Ironically one of my sons lost a hook in a tangle with other anglers so we replaced it with one I had brought and he ended up catching our largest fish (14 inches) with it. Come prepared to pay $1 dollar per fish for cleaning. $2 dollars per person for the huge burlap bags that they make you rent (they wouldn't let us share one bag). Don't even bother paying for any snacks or food on the boat because it is all way over priced as well. They really nickel and dime you on this trip. We came prepared to tip well but based on the service couldn't. So here are my tips for this company. Include all costs in the upfront price, don't overload your boats with people, spend less time traveling and more time fishing, hire some crew who aren't so miserable and know how to work with people and can provide quality service and experience. I wish our experience would have been better.

Sunset on the water - what's not to love?
Great value if you like a California sunset, a trip on the water, and you can appreciate that it's worth bringing a jacket in case a breeze decides to bombard you with some delightful fresh sea air.

Super bummed, the whale watching tour was cancelled due to slightly rough water but that’s not why I’m disappointed. I phoned the tour company an hour before the tour to ask about parking. The young woman with the tour company who answered the phone told me (1hr before the tour departed) that the tour is cancelled and I’ll get a refund in 10-14 days. She was cold and inexplicably rude. We had already driven over 3 hours to get to Newport Beach for the tour and her attitude when telling me the tour was canceled was what was really troubling. The waves are too high, I get that. What is not acceptable was her rude demeanor. Because of her (and not the cancelled tour) I have no interest in re-booking this tour with this tour company. She needs training and should not be left to man the phones because she’s giving this company (which might otherwise be great) and really unnecessarily bad name.

boat was supposed to take off at 9:30 am. we checked in at 8:45 only to find out that they actually changed the departure to 8:30. 2-hour drive to Newport with a 3, 5, and 6-year-old. only to not have the dang activity.
i am so ticked off by these people's unprofessionalism. they tried saying they emailed me 5 days prior to let me know of the time change and that did nottttt happen. i showed them a text conversation from just 24 hours prior that confirmed the original 9:30 am departure time and they said, "oh, we though trip advisor" reached out to you.
horrible, never again!!!

Don’t book in the main bldg. The rooms are dirty and in need of repairs. The flooring is uneven like walking through a fun house. No food service and the rooms are noisy. Tv did not work or Wi-Fi signal. Paid top dollar for this. Most disappointed experience I’ve ever had. Shameful business

The staffs and crew were very professional and positive. The experience was fun and relaxing. I appreciated having access to food and drinks while we were out. The company has multiple boats that talk to each other to find any wildlife that's in the area. Having the professional photographer was a good touch. We'll probably go again.

We’ve been on a lot of these cruises out of Newport and Dana point. This was the least enthusiastic crew we’ve ever had. Usually someone is talking about the different kinds of sea life, stats, etc. definitely more entertaining then this group.

We had great fun and learned a lot in a sunny day in mid March. We sighted a pod of 3 grey whales and tracked them for some time, then found another. Spotted some seals and other marine life, plus a harbor seal on return. No dolphins today.
The captain and crew are very experienced in locating whales and informative but I should emphasise there are no guaranteed sightings.
They matched the online price in the shop so it was about $33 dollars for 2 adults
We spent the rest day exploring Balboa Island by ferry $1) and peninsula. Public parking is paid by coin/note/card in the machine and costs the local going rate.
A very nice area to visit and exciting day out comes highly recommended to all.

Though there was some general reluctance about going distance this melted away once we were greeted and fresh air filled nares with salty air and together we experienced blowing hair in the sea breeze and then relaxation came on full force.

Do try this cruise. Staff is exceptional and bring your camera for the memorable sights of dolphins, whales and maybe you will see a flying fish perhaps. Location is at Balboa boardwalk.

Check in is 40 minutes before boarding time and it's an idyllic a 15 minute cruise through the protected marine sanctuary. Bring a hat, wear sunscreen and enjoy the lovely time whale watching. Great intro cruise to blue gentle giants, thank you.

My husband and I have been on this whale tour four times at two different times of the year and have not seen whales, we did see a few Pacific White Sided Dolphins back in March. On the other hand, my mom went once and saw multiple whales. If you don't see anything, it IS disappointing, but it's always a nice boat ride with great tour guides who are determined to find something for you. We have not paid full price once in all the four trips we've been on because we've gotten vouchers for not seeing anything. When we went this last time a pod of killer whales had just come through, the guides figure that that was why we didn't see anything, that those whales scared everything away. I would call before you go and see what they have been seeing and see what time of year they see the most marine life, I'm sure they would be more than happy to tell you.

The directions to the check in office were poor. It is actually located at Daveys Locker. The boat and the crew were great. Best Bloody Mary I’ve ever had. We saw lots of dolphins and some seals. But the whales were hiding. Make sure to get parking ticket validated.
