- patriciatL7500ZH00Again? In a Heartbeat! Our guide, Johnathan, gave excellent instructions and directions! We had so much fun biking along Pebble Beach, with plenty of stops for photos. I would do this again in a heartbeat!
- 24watchers00Go With the Flo!We had the best time exploring 17-mile drive on top of the line e-bikes. Our guide Flo was knowledgeable and friendly. As first timers using e-bikes, we had no trouble at all because of Flo’s instructions and guidance. I highly recommend using Big Sur Adventures when visiting Monterey. You won’t be disappointed!
- LaurieB98000Excellent bike touring! We did this e-bike tour with a great gal who shared so much information as we did the 17 mile lope in Monterey! She offered us the opportunity to try the bikes out before the ride, and since they were handle assist, meaning that speed is increased or decreased by using the handle rather than merely the pedal assist feature on many e-bikes, it was a bit harder to get used to when one had ever been used before. All was going well and it was a great ride until a man halted kind of suddenly in front of me, and I couldn't stop soon enough or go around him to avoid crashing to the ground. Fortunately, my husband saw it all, helped me up, and I was able to continue. I did sustain a long-term injury on my leg from the fall, but it certainly wasn't the tour company's fault!! It was the man's fault who stopped in the middle of the path!
- john010500Bike rental was a great way to spend an afternoon after touring the aquarium. We rented two ebikes. One had a child seat on the back for our 3-year-old. The other had a padded seat for our 5-year-old. We toured the coast, stopping to take pictures along the way. 3 hours was the right amount of time to see it all.
- pamelab911100Best Tour via Ebike through Carmel!Awesome experience!! Our Tour Guide Flo made our experience fabulous! We toured Carmel by the Sea & it was amazing riding through this quaint, charming, & historic city! First time on an Ebike & it made getting through the town so easy! Our 10 yr old was able to sit on the back & enjoy the experience as well. We would definitely recommend this tour & Big Sur Adventures! Thank you for such a memorable experience!
- club6000Biking the Monterey Bay coastlineWe took and e-bike tour along Monterey Bay with Jauquin. He was a fabulous guide and took great care of two couples not exactly young.I can"t imagine that we missed a thing. It was more than I expected.
- sall52200Excellent!Great, affordable option! We rented two electric bikes for our family of five, and spent several hours enjoying the coast. Highly recommend!
- JB_and_KB00I am coming back SO many more times to do this!Such a blast. Felt safe at all times. Have driven 17 mile drive 100 times, but it was so amazing doing this on an ebike! Staff was great. Bikes were awesome. Eat lunch at the fire pits at Spanish Bay Resort!
- nharmata00Highlight of our tripWe did the Old Coast Road Guided eBike Tour. We had an amazing time. This bike ride was one of the highlights of our Big Sur vacation. We recommend it!! The bikes were comfortable and the route had lots of interesting sights and nature. Our tour guide Zane was fantastic. He was very respectful, accommodating, and knowledgeable about the area and the nature we saw. We really appreciated his enthusiasm while at the same time giving us space to have a great time.
- chipo81900Rented RAD Electric bikes. We rented 3 RAD Ebikes for a self guided ride up 17 mile drive. The staff was very knowledgeable snd helpful with outfitting myself, wife and daughter. We like the Ebikes because you get a little boost when you want it. If you want to be hard core, leave it off or on the lowest setting; but some help up the hills is pretty awesome! We are on vacation so why wear ourselves out struggling up hips or maneuvering through traffic on the trails. We did leave out on the trail towards 17 mile drive. You ride amongst bikes and walker for the first few miles. This is great to acclimate to the bike and it’s handling. You do get to fade with cars in bike lanes for a good amount of the trip. This is ok, because they aren’t moving that fast snd traffic was light. We highly recommend Big Sur Adventures and their Ebikes. They do offer guided tours as well, for those who want a more structured adventure. The RAD bike are among the most affordable. We own 2 RAD mini foldable models, so these were just like at home
- Rawa1300Great serviceWe rented e-bikes from them. They were busy but friendly. Our bike had a puncture. They traveled quickly to our place, replaced it and also issued a refund.
- karen1902000Amazing Tour !This tour was amazing ! Our guide was very informative and engaging throughout the 3 plus hour tour. The sights were amazing and the electric bikes were great ! You won’t be sorry !
- jeffalanj00Nice way to see the local beaches and coast without a car,eWe did not do the tour but we did rent the E-bikes. First time I and my wife rode them. Sydney was very helpful and instructed us on how to operate the bike. She is a long time resident of the area provided us a map and instructions for the route. She was also helpful in directing us to a good Thai restaurant in the area. The scenery along the route was beautiful and my wife felt safe riding the bike.
- MacRichmond00Cali Trip 2020This is a must do if you are going on the 17 mile drive. The tour guide was amazing and had a wealth of information about the area that you just wouldn't get by going on a self-drive tour.
- Thexprt700Electric Bike RentalThis was a great experience. Make reservations online, doubt you can walk up and get an electric bike on the same day. Arrived at 0945 for a 1000 reservation. Two electric bikes were charged and ready to go with our names on them. Fat 26” tires. Bikes were top quality and well kept. We got a 5 minute instruction covering all the basics and took a quick spin in the adjacent parking lot. Rode a solid 3 hrs and 45 mins and covered over 30 miles of trail. My bike was on its last part of the battery when we pulled in. Don’t get caught with a dead battery as the bike is 60 lbs and you don’t want to peddle it or push it by yourself. Definitely worth the experience.

Absolute best bikes and service in the area!! My daughter (adult) and I rode 30 miles Sunday, (Cannery Row to Carmel and back, and we had plenty of battery left). You don’t need to do the tour, very easy to ride the trails and paths on your own, just head toward 17 mile drive (on the path). The electric bikes are so easy to ride and have so much power you barley have to peddle (even up steep hills) and we were averaging 13-15 miles per hour, truly effortlessly. This is the ONLY way to ride around the Monterey area, it make it soooo easy and comfortable, if you can ride a bike you will love the electric bikes at Big Sur Adventures… and their service is excellent, everyone working there was very helpful and fun, I highly recommend them.

Wow! Just amazing! Seriously, book it now, you won’t regret it.
We lucked into like the warmest and sunniest June day ever. Zane was an amazing tour guide and had all kinds of fun facts and stories for us. He also very easily managed our large group of kids, parents and grandparents, most completely unfamiliar with e-bikes. Our boys loved taking turns riding backwards on the orange rad wagon, and holding onto the bike handles on the white rad wagon. The grandparents enjoyed the blue bike that had the backrest (can’t remember the name of that one). I would recommend bringing a jacket and wearing pants because in general it is very cold on the coast, especially when speeding along on the bike. We didn’t need ours though.
We saw all kinds of amazing sea life, including otters and harbor seals. We also saw lots of deer, including babies, keep your eyes peeled!
Tip- don’t forget to bring your wallet on the tour. I left mine in the car and we stopped at the shops at Pebble Beach for a few and I was wishing I hadn’t left my wallet behind. 🤦♀️

A wonderful day ! The bikes were in excellent condition, easy to use, and we felt safe on the roadside at all times. JONATHON our tour guide was knowledgeable about the history of the area and the sites that we stopped at during the tours. He has a great sense of humor. Great stories !
The company was COVID safe , asking that we wear masks whenever we stopped. This was greatly appreciated.
We’ve driven the route many times, but seeing it on bikes was so much better. Thank you !

Our tour leader, Zane, has lived in the area all his life so he had a lot of great stories to tell at each stop on the way out. The route we took was scenic and easy to ride even if you are not experienced. At all times, Zane made sure everyone was riding safely, especially on the way back when the only stops we made were for traffic signs.

My wife and I really enjoyed the bike ride. The guide was very informative of the various historical information and facts at different key stops. He was also very well prepared to support the group for various incidents we had while riding: fell from the bike, he was prepared with basic first aid. Another had a tire punctured, he reinflated. Yet another has the chain link off the sprout, he repaired it. Quite a busy day and he handled this very well!
The area for improvement: They need to make sure the bike is correctly adjusted when handing it to each: when they gave the bike to my wife, they assumed the bike was already correct for her height, as it was their smallest bike, and then asked us to do some loops to test. My wife is short and had lots of difficulties to handle the bike, she thought it was her fault but it was clear within minutes the seat was adjusted too high, so I had it corrected. Then she had difficulties when braking, as the control for the electric boost was also activated since her hands are small and could not effectively brake without also activating the boost.

The bikes were great. This is definitely not a safe tour. You are riding ON the street NEXT to cars! There were several times cars would get dangerously close to us which made it very hard to relax and enjoy the ride. At one stop sign a car almost ran into us. Its not like this through the entire ride but for more then half you are riding in traffic amongst cars who are looking at the scenery as well. Not safe! Also our guide hardly looked back at all to make sure all were safe. At one point my helmet fell off in the beginning of the ride the entire tour just kept riding to where we couldn't see them. Thankfully they were at a stop at least 2 miles ahead and we caught up. If we would have made a wrong turn we would have lost them. Guide was nice but truly in his own world not paying attention to the safety of his riders. He blew through stop signs like they werent there. Each stop was super quick and as soon as he got on his bike to leave which was extremely quick he was gone never looking back! Never waited to for everyone to get on their bikes he just left as if he was on his on tour. There should be a guide in the front and back especially with this guy but there isnt. Beautiful scenery but definitely hard to enjoy when your trying to keep up and hurry at each stop and avoiding being hit by a car. Would not recommend for families as the people with children tandem were really struggling. They dont give you time to practice riding so if you have never ridden a ebike you truly better be a fast learner!

Highly recommend for a family with young teens, e bike makes it easy to pedal or not pedal. This was our first time on an e-bike and we were a little apprehensive but wanted to give it a try. Barely any crowds and just a little road traffic through neighborhoods or bike lane on road. Jonathan our guide served up lots of local knowledge of land, sea, plants, and literature. There are stops to take pictures and use the bathroom. Our guide wore a mask as did The team at the shop. You ride there and back but don’t be afraid of the 17 mile drive name. I forgot to check actual miles but the e-bike kicks in when you’re tired and you ride it like an electric scooter of sorts. Ask for the tutorial on how it works. We had a great time.

This was a great tour! Jonathan was our tour guide, he was fun, easy going and very knowledgable about the area. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area. Make sure you wear layers even though October is normally a warmer month near the coast late afternoon was a little chilly.

If you are looking for an easy fun bike tour of 17 mile drive and with various parts of Monterey, Big Sur Adventures is the place to go. My wife and I (60's) just did the electric bike tour yesterday and it was a blast. The team at Big Adventure is very helpful and friendly. They want to make sure you feel safe on the bike, explain the functions of use and mainly, enjoying the ride. Our guide was, Victor, who was not only friendly and professional, he truly loves want he does. During the stops he will share his vast knowledge of each site. Victor has a great ability to connect with people at any age and make sure everyone it having a great time. The tour itself is about 3 1/2 hours with stops for pictures along the way. Were stopped at a market /Gift store in Pebble beach for a 15 - 20 minute break. Good place for a sandwich. The ride itself is fairly easy. Even if you haven't ridden a bike in while, the few hills you encounter aren't that tough. My only suggestion would be to pay the extra for the electric bike rental. It makes the ride that much more enjoyable.

Big Sur Adventures is about a 10 minute walk from the Aquarium, on Ocean View Blvd. It's also a short walk to the Cannery Row area. There are many shops and eateries in the area. Parking in that area is tricky, so taking an Uber may be a good idea. I highly recommend this activity. I enjoyed it very much.
