- R1180DXlaurad0 contributionsFull moon tour !Autumn our guide was great. Very friendly and enthusiastic. It was great to go on a hike off the main trails and through the forest. She took us to interesting spots we never would have found by ourselves. We were provided with head torches and crampons if we needed them. She even provided us with hot chocolate and biscuits as we looked at the stars! Thank you Autumn. I would also like to mention Amy from outfitters who was also super helpful and knowledgeable when we rented fat bikes a few days before.Written January 14, 2025
- GlobeTrotting5968180 contributionsA Wonderful Night Under The StarsMy family really enjoyed this evening stargazing tour. Because there was little snow, we didn't snowshoe, but we were fitted with ice cleats as the trail was slippery. We were also given red head lamps to see in the dark but it still allowed our eyes to adjust to the darkness. Hiking through the forest in the dark was fun and when we got to a clearing we got a wonderful view of the stars in the night sky (fortunately it was a clear night). Our guide was very personable and knowledgeable. All members of my family enjoyed this tour, I very much recommend it.Written January 10, 2025
- Road637496211660 contributionsAmazing starsOur second time doing the tour. So beautiful to see the wilderness after dark and see so many stars which are invisible in the city. Friendly guides who can point out constellations and teach along the way.Written January 3, 2025
- 677daveg0 contributionsAmazing Winter HikeAlthough there wasn’t enough snow to snowshoe, we put on spikes and were led on a wilderness hike. Our guide Autumn was fantastic. She informed us on survival techniques and fire making. We would definitely recommend Kananaskis Outfitters for your next tour.Written December 29, 2024
- Christine_Miro0 contributionsStargazing tour was amazing even with cloudsWe had a great time even though the weather didn’t cooperate (not much snow and clouds). Turned out only my husband and I had signed up so we had a private tour! Learned about local trees & wildlife; had some cookies and hot chocolate & really enjoyed the hike. Will definitely come back again!Written December 23, 2024
- yaelartur0r0 contributionsAwesome snowshoeing experience in KananaskisAmazing experience with amazing guidance. This was our first time in the mountains and we had such a lovely time. Apart from the great experience itself, our guide Chelsea gave us interesting information about the biodiversity and the history of the region. Highly recommended.Written December 16, 2024
- 392fauvew0 contributionsAwesome!Michelle was awesome about getting us a guide last minute for a school hike. Our guide Sue was amazing! She was very knowledgable and did a great job infusing fun throughout the day.Written October 6, 2024
- Redawgleader0 contributionsGreat Hike - kinda priceyThanks to KO for providing our small group with a wonderful "Survival Skills" hike. Our guide Autumn was skilled, cheery, engaging, and communicative. She encouraged all members of our group to participate in the survival skills lessons, showed us the edible plants along the way, and encouraged us to try them. This would be a 5 rating, but I think the price per person was rather high considering the duration, content, and input costs of the event. Having said that I recognize this is a specialized event in a Provincial Park, so you take what is available.Written September 22, 2024

- luke2608940 contributionsCanoe hireMy wife and I hired a canoe for 48 hours from Kananaskis Outfitters for our wedding the following day. Would recommend hiring form here and would do so again - priced very faily and the hire includes all the gear needed to canoe, but also transport on top of vehicle.Written September 19, 2024
- sarahaL2797ZI0 contributionsLots of funMy friend and I rented the SUP half day. The customer service and the equipment were perfect. I will advise that if you rent from this location you have to drive the equipment to a lake or pond. Parking is a little dicey at barrier lake.Written September 2, 2024
- hmkanji0 contributionsWe saw a bear and they didn’t careWe rented two mountain bikes for my wife and I. We also rented a bike seat for our two year old. A week or so before we were supposed to arrive we got an email informing us the bike seat for our son wouldn’t work. Apparently it’s more of a backpack vs a fixed seat to the bike like at other places we have rented. We were asked to rent a chariot instead. We also had a change of plans given the weather and asked if we could rent on Friday vs Thursday. The store was super accommodating On the Friday we showed up late to get the bikes. We were asked if we had bear spray and we said no. The shop attendant said it’s not a big deal even though she told us there were bear sightings on two places on the trail maps. We took a picture of the bike trails and set off on the village loop first. Then we wanted to go to Trolll Falls which meant going down Red Ribbon trail first. About 10 mins into our journey we saw a sole cyclist coming back. We joked that we needed to talk. Then about 20 mins into the journey we came face to face with an adult grizzly on its two hind legs. On the trail. Not far from us at all. I slammed on the brakes. My wife not being aware of what I was doing reacted too late and slammed on hers to avoid crashing into me. She went over her handlebars. All I could think was to get her to pull her up and get the bikes turned around as fast as possible. She was in shock as she’d landed on her head and complained of neck pain. She got onto her bike and we cycled away as fast as we could. When we got to the store we told the attendant what happened. She made it sound like it was no big deal and said people see bears all the time. They don’t really do anything. We have since looked up what’s supposed to happen and I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to contact the authorities. We also found out two days later my wife’s finger is broken. Thankfully nothing else. I’m so grateful nothing happened to us and the bear didn’t give chase or come at us. But I’m disappointed in how the store reacted.Written August 24, 2024
- storm123450 contributionsAbsolutely LOVED the Survival Hike!! Highly recommend!!My family and I had an absolute blast doing the Survival Hike with our guide, Autumn. We all learned so much about the plants and animals of the Kananaskis region and we even built a shelter together. This was the first time we ever did a private hike and it certainly won't be our last. Autumn was an absolute joy and she's so knowledgeable. She pointed out different plants and told us how these can be used in cooking or medicine. Brilliant! Couldn't be happier!Written August 12, 2024

- Jennifer K0 contributionsE-bike rentalsFour of us adults rented e-bikes. Overall, we had a wonderful time biking from the Kananaskis Village to the golf course for lunch and even further for some sightseeing. The rental process was online and easy. Would recommend to double-check the battery power on the bike you’re renting. (We noticed one of ours was not fully charged.) We didn’t run out of power or have any issues but just a suggestion for others.Written July 30, 2024

We rented cross country skis for the day to try some of the trails in Kananaskis. The daily rate was a great deal and included all of the equipment we needed (skis, poles, and boots). The staff were very helpful and friendly and made sure we had proper fitting gear and knew where we were going. And gave great recommendations for beginner trails and tips for skiing. We made a reservation and paid online beforehand (I would recommend), this made the pickup process really quick so we could get right to the trails. Drop off was just as easy at the end of the day, and they confirmed with us before we left what time we needed to have the equipment back by. Awesome experience!

Our guides/instructors, Dayna and Michelle, were great with my class of 22 fourth graders. They were encouraging and super supportive of the children who needed extra help, and the trail that Dayna and Michelle led us on was a perfect fit for the varied skill levels of the group. Most of my students had never cross-country skied before. By the end of our field trip, they were all confident and capable skiers and had come to absolutely love the sport.

Thank you for your five-star review, Dayna and Michelle had a great time working with your Grade 4 class! Our instructors work hard to ensure all the students have a great experience and enjoy the day of cross country skiing; so we are happy to hear all the students progressed in their skills and love the sport.

The staff inside the outfitters and the instructor were very kind and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed our lessons, and strongly recommend you to check out this place. Trails were recently tracked, and it was really quiet (perhaps because it was during the middle of the week).

Thank you for your five star review! Our instructors work hard to ensure everyone has an enjoyable lesson. The trails definitely receive less traffic during the week, so it is a great time to enjoy the fresh grooming.

We visited Kananaskis Outfitters to rent cross country skis and a single pulk (child carrier) for the day. When we arrived the line up to access the rentals was very long due to limited number of persons allowed in the store due to covid. We waited patiently. There were no markers for social distancing in the line up. When helped we were provided with our reserved gear. The pulk was not set up and we were not familiar with how it worked. The attendant seemed very flustered when we requested that she set it up. The website says there are trails accessible from the rental shop but in truth they are a 5-7 minute walk. Not a big deal, except when you have arms full of gear, and a toddler. The pulk fell apart half way through the walk to the trail head because the attendant didn’t secure it properly. We had to leave the wheels on it to get it to the trail head. She said to store the wheels in the back pocket when we attached the skis, but they didn’t fit. We ended up hiding them under snow at the trail head. Once we got going it was great, and the trails were very nice. Our experience with the rental outfitter could have been improved upon though.

Quick, simple, efficient, fast rental process for cross country skis. Rented 2 sets of cross country skis for my girlfriend and I for 2 hours. We went over to Wedge Pond and skied the Bill Milne trail. It was a great relatively flat trail for her first time on x-country skis! Loved it!

We rented cross country skis and it was our first time trying it. Our boys age 9 and 12 loved it. The trails right from the village were great and we enjoyed it! Great idea for a family outing.

Tested out cross country skiing with a friend and her kids as well as my kids.
The rentals were all lined up together when we got there so it was quick getting suited up.
Iam now checking out their used gear section to buy some for us all!
