Be aware - Change of policy for the disabled !!
As a family we had a very enjoyable first day at Universal and did some great rides. We purchased the buy 1 day ticket and get the 2nd day free from the Uk before we travelled. Sadly, we didn't get to use the 2nd day free because my child who has hemiplegia was too tired after queuing with everyone else on day 1. Before we booked we were told that if we went to guest services we could get a pass that enabled us to book a time to do the popular rides to avoid the long queues. When we went to Guest Services on arrival we were told that the policy had changed the week before we travelled and we were informed from guest services that our child no longer met the criteria for this pass even though we showed a UK blue badge and informed them how our child tired quicker when standing for long periods. . We were told to 'HIRE' a wheelchair (insulting when they do not use one at home) or make them sit out and join us when we got to the front of the queue which is shocking to suggest to a family member on holiday who is disabled when you can't even see the front of the queue on most of the rides. It appears we were not the only ones - there was a little boy with splints on both legs queuing and having to sit on the concrete as his family queued! Apparently there is now a pass that you can apply for but takes days to sort so was no use to us when our universal days were planned. And what is the criteria for this pass?? We were told from guest services that they weren't allowed to say?! Further into our holiday we also enjoyed several days at Disneyland California and what a different attitude to disability - our child was given a pass that allowed us to book time slots for rides and then come back and join the fast lane which reduced the queueing time no end and made the whole experience so much more enjoyable. Universal needs to look at their policy regarding disability discrimination and take a leaf out of Disneys book !! We have sent an email to complain but have had no response regarding the matter - shocking customer service.

    Disappointed
Universal Studios Hollywood is the most inefficient and disorganized theme park I’ve ever been to. I could write a novel on our 2 day experience here. We found most of the staff to be extremely RUDE. It’s CROWDED, which is to be expected, but when you add the disorganization and rudeness, it really ruins the whole experience. I was so looking forward to bringing my family here as I have fond memories from my times going here as a kid in the 90s but we were pretty disappointed. I’m glad I didn’t get the annual passes as I originally intended. We’ll stick to Disneyland/California Adventure for our annual trip. I would have left 1 star but after seeing EVERY attraction at the park, the Waterworld show and Jurassic World ride ALMOST make it worth coming back. The actors in Waterworld were EXCELLENT.

    Pretty Nice Overall!
We loved the Valet Parking and going into the vip lounge to have breakfast. Unfortunately no one informed us that the VIP lounge closes at 2 pm! How strange considering it was supposed to be a resting/recharging area for vip guests at Universal! Our tour guide, Peter, was awesome! The buffet lunch at Moulin Rouge was amazing! I would do it all again but would call in advance to confirm the specifics!

    Awful
Terrible experience with this park. We bought 3 tickets for $144 each directly through Universal but they were never sent to our email address. We called and they claimed we had no order even though there was a temporary charge on our credit card. Since we had traveled and stayed in a hotel, we were forced to buy 3 more tickets for $184 each because only the 2-day passes were available after Universal failed to fulfill the first order. Now I've spent several days going back and forth by email with their customer service department who are not even trying to understand the problem. I contested the extra $120 with Bank of America (since I used my credit card for the second order) and I'm letting them deal with Universal. Who wants to deal with this when it's supposed to be a fun day at the park?! Avoid this place or be prepared for a mess like this.

Fun Day. Super Nintendo World too busy to enjoy.
Did a 1-day visit with some friends who had never been to Universal Hollywood before. Having just gone to Universal Orlando a few months ago during low season, coming here during high season was a completely different experience. We arrived right at open (8am) and managed to get in every ride and show, getting onto the last ride before the line got closed off at 10pm. We managed it by having very little downtime (to eat) to make sure we got on all the rides. We didn't have time to do any shopping, and CityWalk was also closed by the time we were done. We enjoyed our day, but would say that the Super Nintendo World, although cool to see, was way too crowded and the one ride - Mario Kart Bowser's Challenge - wasn't worth the long wait. Otherwise, a great day.

    Great day at Universal
Booked Express Line tickets as travelling on a Saturday in July and didn't fancy queueing all day as I knew it would be busy. Booked the Express Line tickets where you can ride every ride (except Super Mario ride) once in the Express Line. The was an unlimited Express Line ticket also but our time was limited and the costs quite high. Also after booking the tickets and linking them to the Universal Hollywood App also chose to spend $30 each extra as an extra on the app to get early access by one hour to the park and Super Mario World. Really worth it as went to the area, did the ride and booked a table for later at the Toadstool Cafe which sells out and you can't pre-book. We entered the park early at 0700 and spent the first hour or so in the Mario area then about 0815 when everyone else entered the park and headed straight to Mario Land this got really busy but all the other rides in the lower area were quiet with virtually no queues. So saved my one shot Express line and used them later on the rides when they were much busier and the Express Line was needed. Had a great day. Rode everything at least once. Busy but it was a Saturday in July.

    Bad your guide
We did a tour at universal on August 1st with Melinda. She was so rude to anybody that asked her a question, including my kids. She seemed nice when talking to the group, but was very rude to any individual question or comment. The tour itself was cool, but I’m not sure it’s worth the money. If you get on a tour and get Melinda I would suggest trying to switch, but you probably have no choice.

    Do not bother!
Really disappointing. Very expensive and far too busy. People cut queues and staff do nothing. We queued 2 hours with a 7 year old for the jurassic park ride and a group of 2 in front 'saved' space for 16 family members who cut it just before the ride- spoke to staff about this who just shrugged their shoulders and said it happens- not good enough!!!! There is very little to do - it's mainly shops and everything is far too busy. Queues are not watched for queue jumping, food is terrible, not enough seating. For the price you pay it is not worth it!

    Definitely recommend Express passes
Definitely buy the Express passes if you can afford to. Get in really early, head to Lower Lot first and ride as many rides as possible without using your Express while the queues are small. We were not interested in Mario (older teen kids), so did all the others while the queues flocked to SNW. Then as queues build, use your Express Passes to ride again. We didn't wait any longer than 10 minutes for any ride this way. Many rides are 3D or motion simulators (actually only 2 that are not - Flight of the Hippogriff is an extremely quick, over in about 3 minutes, roller-coaster, and Jurassic World is a log flume). So be aware if you suffer from motion sickness - these rides are definitely going to make you feel sick. The worst 2 for this are Simpsons and Harry Potter. However, if you don't get motion sickness, these are awesome rides. Favourites for half my family and worst sick-inducing for the other half lol! Tickets are expensive (Sunday in July), practically 1000 dollars for 1 day out for my family plus food and drinks, and the kids wanted wands from Olivanders. So a huge amount of money to save/budget for. It was an amazing day but a once in a lifetime for us.

    Fantastic!
We were unsure of paying so much more than a regular ticket (our day to visit was in the top of the peak pricing unfortunately) however we thought "why not" and went for it, and we're both so glad we did! We had our own entrance to the park which led to a lounge with pastries and fruit juices where we relaxed overlooking the main entry to the park, until our guide - Laura H - collected us and the rest of our group. We were only two people, but the others in our group were a family of 11, half of whom were young children. Laura was brilliant and ensured we didn't feel left out or forgotten about at any moment of the day which we were very grateful for. She also remembered all of our names, and I am still impressed by this! Laura was noticeably good with the children in the group, she knew how to chat to them to keep them happy but also how to keep them 'organised' when needbe. The kids clearly liked her as they kept taking her hand to hold whilst walking through the park. Despite all the attention from the kids, Laura still managed to chat to the adults in the group and kept us interested in the day too. Temperatures were around 32C, so it was just too hot to spend time wandering around and queuing for hours on end without either getting fed up, or ill from the heat. With the VIP ticket we were skipped right to the front of every ride - including the 3 hour long Mario Kart queue. Laura would give us a brief explanation of each ride before we went on so we could decide whether or not to go on the ride. Her advice was to do each ride once and we didn't have to do it again later in the day if we didn't want to. I had gone into the day under the assumption that I wouldn't be doing certain rides like 'The Mummy' but with her advice I did - I didn't love all the rides I went on (I'm not a rollercoaster fan) but I'm still glad I listened and went out of my comfort zone! Laura would hold any bags needed, and also gave advice as to where to sit to avoid getting as wet on the Jurassic Park ride for example. Lunch was an all you can eat buffet at the Moulin Rouge restaurant, reserved just for VIPs and was visted by a couple of characters. Laura seated the group of 11 over two tables, and gave us our own table which was both thoughtful, and appreciated. After lunch we did the Backlot Tour. We had our own little 'bus' rather than going on the same ride as hundreds of other people. We did the same tour as them to begin with but then went off and did our own thing such as visiting Wysteria Lane, Manhattan, the inside of the Quantum Leap sound stage, and the prop warehouse - where some recently returned props from Oppenheimer were waiting to be put back. Laura arranged it so that we were able to stop outside of Susan's house from Desperate Housewives for a quick photo which we loved - but my favourite bit was when we were just looking down a street from "Manhattan" and Laura said the road was used in the first Captain America film. As a huge Cap fan I couldn't believe it so asked a few questions, and checked the film out later and managed to match up the street with the same scenes in the film. I hope to never forget being there and the thrill I felt from being told about it - I never expected that to be part of my day, and honestly it was a highlight of my 2 week vacation. I love movie-making magic and behind the scenes stuff so this was great. After the tour, Laura had reserved us seats for the Waterworld show - thankfully high at the back so we didn't get wet and had a great view. She then explained all about the Hogwarts night light show so we knew to return for that at the right time, and then we were left to our own devices, to skip as many lines as we wanted before the park closed. Another really great thing was the free water provided throughout the day. It was so hot, it'd be easy to get dehydrated but this didn't happen with the reminders to drink. We were also given a little suntan stick and a lip balm before we left the lounge at the beginning of the Tour. There is no time to stop for character meets or go to any shops when you're on the VIP tour, but you can do that before or after the tour once the guide leaves you. We know we're priviledged to be able to buy these VIP tickets but it made a massive affect on the day by not having to queue hours on end for rides that last a few minutes. On the way out of the park we stopped by Guest Services to leave feedback for Laura. Laura did such a brilliant job of being enthusiastic, interested, trying to keep everyone (with all different personalities) happy, and just trying to ensure we all got our money's worth, I honestly don't know how she managed it - it must be exhausting (especially in that heat!). So despite being unsure due to the price, we both have zero regrets and we know that Laura played a huge part in that.

Fun park, nauseating diesel fumes on tour
First the park: pretty crowded. Express pass really helped with lines. The Harry Potter Forbidden Journey ride is awesome—didn’t know you could do that with screens/projections. Now what really prompted me write this: the studio tour, which we had really been looking forward to. The first of the four cars in each tour tram has a diesel engine, and pulls the rest of them. The exhaust pipe is at head height. So if you’re in the second car, especially toward the front as we were, you have diesel fumes venting directly into your face the whole time. I think it might be a pretty cool tour, but it was hard to say, what with being poisoned the whole time. It was also loud as heck, so hard to hear the guide. Universal, get with the times and electrify this thing.

Very good experience. Would do it again.
The best part about the VIP tour is that you get to skip the long line and go to the front of the line to get on the ride. We were able to go on all the rides, which is impossible if you are using regular admission. In fact, some of the rides we were able to get on multiple times. The studio tour was very good too. We were able to get off the tour bus and walk inside a soundstage, and visit some of the props. Lunch was buffet and was included with drinks. The only downside is you dont get to do things such as take pictures with characters, visit stores, and look at each of the special designs in the store.

Great day - get there early!
Great day at Universal in holiday season - had been anxious about queue times but an early start made it easy. We arrived at 0750 for opening at 8 and it was quite - queue times less than 5 mins on multiple rides. By 1200 we had done all the rides expect MarioLand and Simpson’s, including the studio tour. Mario queue was never less than 120 mins all day - think the only way to do it less is pay for a 0700 ticket ($20 each) and leg it down there. We did Harry Potter and Hypogrfy first then went to Lower Lot - mummy, Jurassic park, transformers then back up to upper lot. Great park with 9 and 11 year old. Definitely not thrill seekers - only mummy was in that category. Can’t see why anyone would want a 2 day ticket. It’s the smallest theme park I’ve been too - easy to walk around end to end in 10-15 mins.

    Complete waste of money
Spent one day at this park. Had made several visits to the sister park in Orlando and was pleased with those trips, this on the other hand we will not repeat. We purchased early entry for the Nintendo experience as our young son loves Mario. Entered the Mario Kart ride and did our thing within the first half hour of the park opening for a great start to the day. We tried to enter and do it again knowing the demand and the wait was already 90 minutes just after 7:30 am which is what we were trying to avoid. Didn't do it the rest of the day as the wait times are obscene. Not only that once 8 am hits the Nintendo area of the park is unbearable, especially as hot as it is this summer in California. They really need to either build a bigger area or limit the number of people entering. That part of the park is great visually, but really a let down when it comes to execution. Be prepared to drop another $40 per child if you want to have the full experience as you need a micro chipped Mario wristwatch to enjoy the features. Same concept as the Harry Potter wand only lamer. About 9 am we headed out to the rest of the park. I tried to buy some yogurt at one of the restaurants. Made the purchase and then found out there weren't any spoons. Was told I could look for them at other food stops in the park. Uh no I won't and certainly not for a $12 yogurt that should cost no more than $3 outside the park. Just obscene greed at this place, it's utterly disgusting and a HUGE turnoff. Also bought an $18 refillable cup for soda, powerade, etc only to find out that Universal refuses to restock the machines with ice or drinks only lukewarm water and the queues at the restaurant are so long that it's pointless anyway. Did not get one refill out of the deal. We rode less than 10 rides the entire day (we were there over 12 hours) throughout the park and paid over $2k between lodging and park tickets. The studio tour was great as the wait was short and the ride interesting, but that's the only positive I can say about the ride experiences. We also visited other parks during our visit to Southern California that did not gouge the customer in such obscene ways that Universal does. California is expensive, however this Universal location is even beyond that. We as a family all agreed that we will never go back.

This had so much potential but was completely ruined by Universal overselling tickets to the event. Even halfing the number of people allowed into the event would have been too much!

Horror houses are supposed to scare you because you dont know what's round the corner or what's lurking in the dark corners but when there's that many people in the line that you're literally walking through like a chain, it's just not scary at all. You can literally see the people in front of you being "scared" so you know where all the monsters are hiding. Makes the whole thing pointless!

The show we went to started and 20 seconds in, was cancelled and we all to leave. Where was clearly some issue but it was disappointing to queue for an hour, only for it to be cancelled.

Every horror house had ridiculous wait times. I literally mean 2-3 hour waits for each house! Fast passes are exhaustionate and look like they only cut down the queque by half, so you're still waiting 1-1.5 hours to get into a horror house that isn't even scary. Plus the event was full of teenagers and early 20's, so wont be for everyone.

All in all, it wasn't scary, it was rammed and you spend most on your time in a queque. We left early!

Being from the U.K. we don’t really take halloween stuff seriously but in the us it’s different. We decided to go to the event it cost us about 70 dollars each and best money I’ve spent whilst here. We arrived at 7pm and stayed until 12 only because we where tired. The park was extremely busy. The performers are outstanding and every show was first class. Very scary in parts. Also get to go on the psycho back lot. It is an absolute must for anyone. Very well done Universal !

HHN Hollywood has gone to the kids, literally. This was my 4th year and the past 3 years were always so fun and scary but this year, kids galore. I have never seen so many small children at HHN but it makes sense, the mazes this year were not scary at all. Going through the mazes with squealing and talkative 12 year old girls behind you, simply not my idea of what HHN should be. There were kids there as young as about 8 years old! To top it off, Stranger Things was a total disappointment and honestly, left me a little confused. Ghost Busters and Killer Clowns were theatrically put together beautifully, but they were bright and just not scary. If I had to pick the scariest maze, I guess it would be Frankenstein, I jumped a few times.

Scare zones? what scare zones? In the lower lot, the chainsaw actors would show up, but then disappear for as long as 15 minutes.

The 80's theme and music was cool. We had Universal Express, but the lines were honestly not that bad on the Thursday night we went, we didn't even use our pass on many of the mazes until long after 11 pm.

I just got back a couple days ago and I'v honestly already forgotten a few of the houses, it was very underwhelming and I hate to say, but I may never attend HHN again, which is very sad because I used to LOVE this event.

on Preview night September 12, universal studios Hollywood had about 8000 people total visit for HHN. We were able to do all the mazes and had a great time doing it. We started by downloading the app and locating all the mazes before heading out to the park. We arrived an hour early and were amount the first to enter the park. We were given a limited edition badge for preview night. So this is the order we managed to do all the mazes, with minimal wait. As soon as the preview show was over and there was a “rope drop” with monsters, we ran to the tram are, here you will find two mazes! The best one in my opinion “US” and a seconds maze Pandora’s box. we did US maze first and after headed to the bottom back lot, we dash down the electoral stairs, past Mummy Ride, to the Right of transformers all the way past the tunnel to emerge at three mazes, head straight over for Ghostbusters, the second maze, wait time for this was under 45 mins, did the remains two mazes in this area. Moved back to the upper lot and did the maze on the way before transformers, and completed the maze by waterworks, middle are area, and the second maze by the tram. the finale maze we left is Stranger Things, this had a wait of over 200 minutes the whole night, so half an hour before close, we headed to this maze and the wait was less than 20 mins. There was plenty of time for snacks, beer, burgers, and shopping.

Not sure if we just got a really bad night or not but we were so disappointed in our night at HHN.
Pros- Details in the houses are very good, Decorations outside were enjoyable to see, drinks were good(theme park expensive plus a little more)
Cons- Line ups , yes we knew they would be big but how large they were was ridiculous, unless you want to spend close to another $200 dollars for a fast pass. So they wanted you to spend close to $400 dollars for one night per person. The scare zones and the scares in the houses were very boring, could be because there is so many people going through that it isn't scary or enjoyable it was just sad. I was worried when we seen people with their little kids, but nothing to worry about.
We ended up leaving early as we were very let down and bored. Seems like Universal is more concerned about their money coming in then the actual enjoyment of their customers. Its sad, we were really looking forward to the night now feel I wasted the money on it. Doubt we will do it again.

Getting into the park was a little challenging because TripAdvisor did not give me actual tickets to get in. So, after waiting in line for 20 minutes, I was instructed to go to guest services where I waited another 20 minutes to get actual tickets to get in the park. Then, I had to wait in line again another 20 minutes to get in the park. So, 60 minutes that I could’ve been in the park enjoying.
