Our tour guide Chris was extremely knowledgeable, has a great personality, and his narrative and banter made it for an extremely fun tour! We all highly recommend the tour.

This was an unbelievable trip for us! We love history and spooky tours and this was top notch. Chris was so knowledgeable, friendly and willing to help us find food and drinks! This is a great trip for couples and families. Lots of waking and a nice rest break for a half an hour for food and drinks. We would definitely do it again! So much info to take in. No one will be disappointed!

My girlfriend, who has a delightful creepy streak, and I, afflicted with the same, had a great time wandering the streets of LA with a small group and a great guide. We were able to view locations of many well known murders and macabre happenings all narrated by Chris who possessed a vast knowledge, confident patter and easy-going nature and who clearly relished his job. The three hours whipped by and was a great afternoon very well spent. As an added bonus, my girlfriend felt her dress being tugged on at one of our stops and is convinced she experienced an actual paranormal moment as she was alone at that moment. Sweet!
This is utterly worth your time if the dark side of history appeals to you at all.

We are LA natives but learned SO much about our city with this tour! An absolute must do! Our tour guide Chris was so informative, I mean the amount of info and the stories we got was astounding. We learned all about the seedy past of LA, plus he had a wealth of knowledge about architecture and he kept it all entertaining and interesting, he was such a great storyteller. We did this on a random Saturday with nothing to do and were kind of unsure of what to expect but we’re so glad we did it. We now want to try all their other tours!

If you're looking to get some cocktails and experience some haunted Los Angeles - please look elsewhere.

Though the tour guide was polite and knew a lot of the murderous history of the area, this tour was in no way worth $45.

A lot of the description on the Real Los Angeles Tour description is misleading.

1. Walking Distance: 2 miles - it was definitely more than 2 miles and there were some steep hills involved. This is not mentioned. Also we only got to stop at one place where we could use a bathroom and for a 3 hour tour that's something that people need to keep in mind.

2. It claims to be a night of crime and cocktails but there were no cocktails to be had. The one place we stopped at which was the Spring Arcade Building did not have a haunted bar. It had a taco place, a gelateria, overpriced pizza and an overpriced juice bar. There were supposedly some other things, like a wine bar in there, but they weren't open when we got there.

3. Says it starts at Pershing Square. There was a concert happening so we couldn't actually get into Pershing Square and there was never a picture sent or even an email about an alternate meeting location.

That's just from the website. Yes, some of the information was cool, and I do realize that Covid has effected a lot of things, but this was less of an experience than I got when I went on Free Tours by Foot in New Orleans! At least the Free Tours by Foot tours allow you to pay what you feel it was worth at the end of the tour.

Had that been an option for this, I'd have gladly handed our tour guide $15 or $20 bucks - he was informative and really into the subject matter, but this tour was not worth $45. I also have to question how much the tour guide actually got paid from what is charged on their website. With the harassing phone calls I've been getting from the guy that supposedly runs The Real Tours of LA, I'm doubt he's splitting the money he's making with the tour guides fairly.

That's the other thing – harassing phone calls from Damien, with him trying to convince me that what I got was actually worth $45. That there was nothing at all misleading on his description, but of course he has to sell the tour. You don't say you're selling just plain eggs and expect to make money. You're selling organic, hand raised, free range chicken eggs.

There's marketing and then there's deceiving people and Damien is in the latter category no matter what he argues. SO, Tourists BEWARE!!!

Unfortunately this person has decided to try to damage our reputation by posting multiple reviews on different platforms, under different names, so we're just going to copy and paste this same response across all of them - since they're all the same person. The points that she makes in her reviews are mostly made-up. There are no hills on the tour, guests DO have an opportunity to get cocktails (or other drinks), there was no music concert that night, the route is LESS than 2 miles, we only called Anja because she insisted on getting a call etc. She shouted at Damien for half an hour. Why? She wanted a full refund after doing the tour weeks before. We don't offer that - as is made clear here on TA and the website. We would normally offer a discount on tickets to another event/tour, but we don't think that would work in this case. You would think that with all the difficulties that companies like us have suffered over the last year, when many operators have folded, people would be more understanding and kinder. It appears not - at least in this case. We don't get to decide who books a ticket for one of our tours, but IF you're reading this and you're someone that find themselves leaving a lot of 1 star reviews, If you have difficulty getting to places on time, if you need someone to walk you through stuff on the phone, or if you want to be able to wake up several weeks after an event that you attended and get a full refund just because - we may not be the right tour company for you. Only you can make that call. We make things as clear as we can. We're just a tour company and we can't solve all the problems of people's lives - all we can do is create a fun and interesting event. We don't want to get dragged into other people's negativity. It's a shame that the tour didn't seem to live up to Anja's expectations, but on reading a lot of her other reviews that seems to be a consistent theme in her life. Hopefully that changes, but there's nothing more that we can do in this case.

Vicki was a stellar tour guide! Her tales of the scariest dtla hotels were spine tingling. I especially enjoyed the ghost stories. Next time, I'd like more focus on ghosts than serial killers, but it was still a great tour.

Damien was a great tour guide! Great date night idea. Found the tour through Fever who did not advertise as a walking tour. Highly advise good walking shoes and a bottle of water.
Really enjoy true crime and this tour had A LOT of it. Had fun getting to explore the city and learn more of its history.
Thank you to The Real Los Angeles Tours team!
