Not for families with young kids.
Summary - we started the tour this morning and we left the tour after lunch and we are happier and less stressed than while we were on the tour. Would we do it again: No. Who is the tour good for? Adults, older children, no strollers, anyone that can walk at the speed of the group/tour guide Tips: do not book the first tour of the day because you won’t have anytime to spend in the VIP lounge - and you only have access to the lounge before your tour unlike some other reviews that mentioned having access to the VIP lounge all day as a resting spot. Outcome: Tour guide started the tour by telling us we were free to leave the tour at anytime and reiterated this before and after lunch so I’m thinking maybe don’t bother with the tour after the studio tour part (which was pretty cool!) cause you’ll have front of the line access with your VIP pass with or without your guide. We could not keep up with the group with our 5 years old and we couldn’t use the stroller in the torrential rain pour - plus we felt like getting our kid in and out of the stroller really imposed on the rest of the group. I think both our tour guide and the rest of the group was happy for us to leave after lunch. Recommendation: Book the tour if you want true front of the line access with or without your guide - apparently you really don’t need your guide as long as you have the VIP lanyard - so think of this more as the premium lightening lane experience and you’ll be happy Do not book the tour if you have a young child that cannot walk at adult speeds or cannot walk long distances. Do not book the tour if you have a stroller cause you simply won’t keep up with the group. Book the tour if you want to eat at a random restaurant in city walk - today was margaritaville - where the server was excellent and provided my young kiddo with a child friendly option not on the menu. This will be case until the end of March 2024. Do not book the tour if you think you'll have access to the VIP lounge all day because you won’t - not for a pit stop or a quick rest…etc. It’ll be off limits after you start the tour. Do not book the tour on a rainy weather day because I genuinely do not think it’s worth it cause the lines will be short anyway. I would do this again if the tour organizers asked for ages on the ticket booking and could then group similar ages together - i.e. families with young kids together, adults with no kids together. The needs for these groups are totally different - it serves neither demographic to have these groups together in a tour. The tour will not move quick enough for the adults and it will move too quickly for the littles and the families with young kids. Important for the parents: there are only designated bathroom break times…so, you, know, caution ahead. I know people love this tour and I booked it based on the glowing reviews but it really was not for us - young family of 4.

    The literal best day ever!
We went on a Wednesday for my bachelorette trip and the entire experience was incredible. We started our day off with a provided quick breakfast and cappuccino. Then we met with our guide Nicole who provided us with water and a poncho for the water ride. We started the day doing the rides which you get a front of the line pass for the rides. We did everything but one ride which we had time after if we wanted to do it. Then we had a very delicious lunch buffet. After we did the tram tour which is on a luxury tram bus with heaters which was nice since it was chilly. We got to walk around and see and learn about movie history. Afterwards we said goodbye to our guides and got to continue to use our front of the line passes. Every single staff member we encountered was incredible and very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back to do the VIP tour it was the best way to go especially if you are going for just the day. Also Nicole and Victor who were our team guides were so funny, passionate, knowledgeable and fun it made the experience even better!

Total waste of your time and money
Universal studio is total BS! I can’t even write in words how dissapointed i was. I was expecting live experience shows of filming movie, rides and other fun stuff. They only have simulators that you almost throw up after ride. Only positive thing was Jurrasic park ride. It is overrated, overpriced!! 2 tickets were 280usd, i would rather give money to homeles people than to visit them again. Total weist of your money and time. We were there for 3 hours and the best moment was when we left. Oh, food…disaster!

    4th and last time
Booked tickets for Universal studios, which in the past I have enjoyed immensely. It was my 4th time. What I found was that Universal studios were undertaking some renovations, which made the place very crowded and cramped. The line up and the wait time for the train ride was extremely long. Some of the themes had not changed since 2000 and seemed old and stale. Lining up for rides was far too long and we gave them a miss. Honestly if you've never been, give it a go it can be amazing. Places to eat were somewhat scarce and if you found them, very crowded with long waits. For me it was too crowded, seemed cramped, and not an enjoyable experience as in the past.

    Unforgettable fun
Our day was filled with heart-pumping rides, jaw-dropping shows, and encounters with our favorite movie characters. The Studio Tour took us behind the scenes of famous movie sets, giving us a sneak peek into the magic of filmmaking. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter had us feeling like wizards as we explored Hogsmeade and sipped on Butterbeer. The thrilling Jurassic World ride had us screaming with excitement. We couldn't get enough of the exhilarating Transformers and The Simpsons rides. The incredible special effects and stunts in WaterWorld left us in awe. And, of course, we couldn't resist taking a stroll down the iconic Hollywood Boulevard.

    Tons of fun
Halloween Horror Nights was scary fun but definitely have to wait in some long lines. Mario Kart ride was so cool. Best ride has to be the Harry Potter Ride.

    VIP tour is a must!!!
This is a must! What a day!! Highly recommend doing the VIP tour for multiple reasons. If you’re short of time and only have a day at Universal then it’s a no brainer- you will spend your whole day standing in a queue if you don’t take the VIP. We had a wonderful breakfast/ coffee in the VIP lounge, no queues to get into the park. A great start to the day. We had a very knowledgeable guide then take us around the entire park, firstly, on the rides with the front row seats straight to the front of every ride, no waiting at all. After morning of fun, we had the most amazing buffet at a VIP only restaurant right in the middle of the park. Everything you could imagine was served. The most incredible food, quality and quantity. After a beautiful lunch, we set off for the behind-the-scenes tour. Once again, no queueing and our own little private minibus for just us and one other group. A lot of fun and after our tour was over late afternoon, we stayed in the park with our VIP passes and continued front row right to the front of ride. Money, well spent! .

    What a great experience!
Our advice is to go as soon as the doors open. You can download the APP (check the daily opening hours) so you don’t have to wait too long. It started to rain around 10 am this time, and you may have to wait for 3 hours for the bus in the afternoon!!

Wonderful Family Trip at Universal Studios Hollywood.
It's advisable to purchase early access to Mario Park. However, even on Saturdays, there aren't too many people, and the wait for each ride is around 20-30 minutes.

    Awesome!
Definitely worth visiting! Wish they had more rides/rollercoasters but generally had a great time. Looking forward to the Fast & Furious ride. Could not recommend the Studio Tour enough. It was awesome

    Very Cool Day.
Early entry to Nintendo World isn't really worth it. There's literally only one attraction you can do if you choose not to buy the power bands. Rest of the park can be done in 1 day anyway. Backlot tour is extraordinary and worth doing more than once.

    Amusing
One of the top attractions in Los Angeles is that thrilling park, but the admission tickets and parking tickets are relatively expensive.

    Fun for all the family.
Universal Studios is as good as I remember it as a child! Lots of rides, restaurants, shops and things to do for all ages. Prices for things are quite high. I thoroughly recommend the tour of the studios which is included in a your ticket. I do think they need to update the video that is on board though ;)

We bought regular passes and upgraded to the Express Unlimited Pass at the gate. We went on 7/17, and were let in 30 minutes early. The express pass was a must have on such a busy day.
However, we were concerned with the quality of the rides. We were stuck on the Jurassic World ride for almost 40 minutes, and had to be evacuated off the ride. We received NO compensation for the trouble as we already paid for the unlimited pass - no food vouchers, no certificates, no nothing. This was super disappointing as customers that had just dropped over 500 dollars to be there on tickets alone. A few hours later, we got stuck on Jurassic World AGAIN for 15 minutes. On the Mummy Ride and Simpsons we also stalled for several minutes.
The lines for food were so long, and we waited for popcorn for over 30 minutes with just 15 people in line ahead of us - this screams incompetence and poor time management.
We stayed at the Sheraton, and the walk is very short to and from the park.
Go on a weekday in the off season.

After waiting on hold for hours 2 days in a row and sending multiple emails to customer service with no reply, I was finally able to change two separate day passes to Platinum Season Passes once I got into the park and spoke to an employee in person.

I was very dissatisfied when the Universal employee explained to me that I would only get the General Admission discount of around $140 applied to each season ticket.

I originally payed $229 per ticket for the Express pass (+$40 to update to Express Unlimited, $269 total per ticket) and believe I should have received more of a discount considering I payed almost double the cost for the original tickets compared to the discount applied to the Platinum Season passes.

Over a week later after visiting the park (my park visit June 20th, contacted by Universal customer service June 28th) I finally received a response from Universal stating that, "Only the General Admission amount can be implemented to an upgrade as Universal Express is a separate premium product. I apologize for any inconvenience."

Universal, you should be ashamed of your customer service and refund policies and ultimately return the money.

First review on here after visiting last weekend. We went on a Saturday and arrived right at 9AM and bought the front of the gate parking ($60) which was nice but not a must do.

What is a must do is the EXPRESS PASS.

At 9AM the park was not too crowded for many of the rides so I would recommend saving your express pass for mid-afternoon if there is a long line so you can ride your favorite rides more than once. Around 1 PM the ride in Harry Potter was at a 110 minute wait and we were able to get on in less than 10 minutes with our express pass.

I would go straight to the Lower Lot first and go on those rides first (Transformers, the Mummy, and Jurassic Park (my favorite ride) as it is a hike to get there. After that we went to the Upper Lot and did the studio tour and all of those rides as well and finished with Harry Potter World. Great experience and we rode every ride, ate lunch at the 3 Broomsticks (very quick service actually) and shopped all within 4 hours. Well run place!

We visited on a weekday and opted for the ticket where you could get one express visit per ride. We could have gotten by without it since the crowds were very limited but the advantage for us was it allowed to go on our favorites a second time as they day got more busy. For example, Harry Potter ride at opening with a 5 minute wait and then again in the afternoon with the express pass. The park is not as large and complex as Orlando but we found it to be more doable and pleasant because of smaller crowds. We enjoyed all the rides and were easily able to see and do what we wanted to do by arriving when they opened and staying to closing (on our date this was 10AM-6PM). I would definitely get their early.

Great time had by all. Express ticket totally worth the additional cost if you only have a limited amount of time (1 day) to see everything or if like me, you dont like standing around waiting. Lines weren't too bad first thing in the morning, but by about 11AM everything had a minimum 25 min wait, more popular attractions were 60-90 min. Simpsons ride was down most of the day which from listening to other guests was not incommon. By far best attractions were Happy Potter Flight of the Hippogriff and the Mummy. Studio tour was okay, but mostly sitting on the tram looking at the outside of buildings. If you have the time, purchase the VIP Backlot tour experience.

We had a fun time at Universal Studios, yes it was expensive but if you're a visitor from overseas it will probably be a once in a lifetime thing so don't penny pinch, it is totally worth it! We went on almost every ride and were pleased we'd bought "skip the line" tickets as being a weekend it was very busy, not sure how it would be on weekdays. We really enjoyed all the rides but for me the stand out was Harry Potter. Did not enjoy getting drenched on the Jurassic park ride as it was late afternoon and the temperature was dropping, so if you plan to go on this one be aware - you will get very wet, even your feet - so come prepared with some sort of wet weather gear, but I don't think anything will stop you feet getting very wet!! Being in our 50's and 60's we didn't expect to enjoy the studios as much as we did - it really bought the inner kids out in us!!!!

I would suggest you to not purchase the unlimited express if you are a slow, group, one-day or first explorer to the Universal Studios LA. You won't get to use the unlimited. There are lots of things to explore, watch and ride. There are lots of travelers even on the non-busy weekday.

DO NOT VISIT.
It was mentioned on website that only CA residents or folks who are fully vaccinated are allowed.
But no one was checking if folks are California resident.
Tickets were oversold and it was way TOO crowded then normal weekends.
Long waits even for Express pass.
NO drinking water (seriously, covid is not an excuse, this should have been taken care of).

We (family 2 adults 2 kids 11 and 13) took a VIP tour of Universal Studios. Our guide was Jeff a 10+ year VIP veteran and big Top Gun fan. I can highly recommend the VIP tour - it’s 7 hours however you get to access live studios, the costume warehouse and have a very insightful guided tour for movie buffs. The best part - we didn’t wait longer than 5m in any line and at that was gold. And I also still love visiting the “jaws” set. Last time I visited Universal Studios was ‘81.

We went on what we then found to be the busiest day of the year so far. Only half our group purchased express and the other's didn't but when they went to purchase on the day, they were all sold out. The average queue was about 2 hours but for us was around 10 minutes. We tried the single rider queue for mario cart and waited 2hrs 10min and tbh, wasn't worth the wait! The transformer ride broke down when we were on it, waited an hour before they came and helped us off. The stunt show was fantastic, highly recommend sitting in the wet seats if you dont mind getting wet that is!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are so sorry to hear that your experience with us was anything less than perfect. While the Spring Break Season can be a busy time, we completely understand how long wait times may impact your day. Please trust that we have forwarded your feedback and concerns to the appropriate Senior Leadership Teams, as we are always looking to improve upon our overall Guest Experience. Thank you.
