Universal studios was a lovely visit! So much fun. The park was clean, employees were kind and courteous, and the snacks/food were available when needed.
We purchased the admission tickets with the universal express addition. It can only be used once per ride per day. On hind site- we didn’t need to spend the extra money because the lines were short and the park wasn’t crowded. We went on a non holiday Sunday. But we considered the express purchase an “insurance policy” in case it was super crowded on the one day we were able to go.
LA county law states that masks must be worn indoor AND outdoor in public settings at all times. The park staff did a great job of enforcing this without being rude or overbearing.

We had a great day here. Despite it being a Sunday of a long weekend the park was not overcrowded and we were able to experience all shows and rides and the hour long studio tour as well as take time for a lunch break in Citywalk and then ride our favourite rides a second time. This was a nice contrast to Disney which seemed to always have horrible queues for anything decent.

The park was very clean and beautifully decorated. Loved touches like the Moaning Mrytle voices in the bathrooms in the Harry Potter area and the entertainment from the windows in the Main Street. Covid testing was efficient though it would make sense to start this an hour before the park opens rather than at the same time when everyone is trying to get in.

This is a perfect one day park. Shows are both excellent. There are not a large number of rides but they are generally of high quality. Harry Potter area is wonderful and the whole park has such a beautiful aspect looking out on LA. Parking is $30 in a covered tower. Much better value than the parks where it’s $30 to park outside on the tarmac. You can also attend the park with the Go pass which makes it great value.

If you have been to Universal Studios in Florida, it is likely you will be a little bit disappointed with the Hollywood version. While it has a ton of “street cred” since it is Hollywood and they are actually filming movies and TV shows here, the theme park portion really feels light on offerings for the price. Once this park is busy, it is also a nightmare to maneuver around and you should expect to need to buy express pass if you want to attempt to do everything in one day. A lack of full service f&b offerings is a huge miss and what they have for quick serve will be slow with really bad lines. For some reason they also have very limited operating hours which can frustrate the situation even more. Sure, the tram tour is awesome - but know what you are getting into.

Like their Halloween event but not as bad. For Halloween, you will enter the park right when they open and lines will be 60-90 min. Within an hour of the event being open, the lines will be up to 2.5 hours. Universal should be ashamed of themselves for the greed they exhibit. To have people pay so much money and only be able to go on 2-4 mazes the entire evening is just wrong. I am convinced that the fire department would shut this event down of being overcrowded but they have their OWN Fire Department, so nothing will be shut down. The place is going to have a major disaster one day and a lot of people are going to get hurt because there are just too many people in that place to exit 4 turn stalls. God forbid there is ever a fire or earthquake;

I have complained to Universal about the safety issues more than once.

I will save a copy of this message for the day when a disaster hits them and people are trampled on. Do not bring your little ones to this park. It's not safe.

A real ripoff - 140$ (560$ for 4!) to spend the whole day waiting inline and just a few rides completed. What a waste of time and money!
There are indeed very few attractions for the number of tickets sold, hence completely overcrowded ; and even less are hardly worth the wait. Quality is overall quite low, queues have virtually no animation or decor making the wait boring.
All waiting times are systematically underestimated as all “express” folks will freeze the general queue as they proceed, and they are many! We were always standing still with the queue not progressing ; 60’ wait time announced on entering, ending over 180’ actual time!!! Never seen anything like this !
Plus on many attractions you have to leave your bag in (tiny) lockers (sometimes for a fee!) to access the tour and you finish your waiting 1h in the heat with no water. A real nightmare!
To complete the picture, without any mention of maximum height, and after 3h of wait I had to step out of the Harry Potter ride because the restraining bar was pushing hard on my shoulders and the attendant pushed down even more, arguing that it should go 2 clicks further! What kind of entertainment is this ? Torture ?

The park used to be really worth it 30years ago for movie enthusiasts, but now I do not recommend this park at all, unless you are ready to spend 300$ per person to get express pass. Never, ever again as far as I’m concerned.
Save your money and go to the beach! Or go to Disneyland Paris or in any Europe park where things are far better organized and the guys know how to make your experience enjoyable, even in the crowds.

The lines are too long and they let in too many people: no bueno!!!!! Covid infection rates are spiking and we were packed in there like sardines.
We bought the tickets through the official website: $134 of pure robbery… we were there around 9:20 am and able to do one ride. As people started coming in the lines were just too much: even my two 16 year old sons gave up after two rides….. i expected a better time for the money we spent. Big disappointment.
Universal Studios you are way too greedy: let less people in so they can actually enjoy the experience!

It was unbelievably overcrowded. Possibly 300% overloaded. Wait times was 2+ hours on all rides and express tickets sold out. They also closed down all single rider lines early in the morning to accommodate oversold express tickets. Most horrible experience ever. Why would anyone pay 300$ for this including express when Disney offers much more for less and more meaningful crowd control. Best ride in town Resistance has only 90 minutes when mediocre ride times 3 hours in this park. This is week of Dec 28th 21.

In the past my family has visited Universal Studios Hollywood at least once per year and many times we have purchased season passes and gone several times in a season. This was our first visit since the pandemic began. The theme park has changed and not really for the better. I was disappointed before we even entered the park. "General" parking was $30, "Preferred" was $45 and gate parking was $60. These are enormous prices to park your car and significantly more than they charged pre-pandemic. Feels like they are just taking advantage of people and I felt bad for families that may have been visiting on a tight budget. Also, many staff members in the park were outright rude. When taking pictures with characters, one of their staff members said verbatim "take your pictures quickly", when no one in line acknowledged his comment he then said, "it's all fun and games until you get kicked out of the park". Why would anyone be so rude to children taking photos with characters? The employees in the cafe's were also very rude. When I asked about a dietary accommodation, she yelled, "we don't do that, everything is pre-measured". I am also disappointed with how Universal seems to be designing seating for their new rides. I noticed years ago that they had "test" seats outside of Harry Potter, intended for you to determine if you can fit on the ride or not. One of the reasons we enjoy going to Universal Studios is because their seating has been accommodating compared to other parks. This new style of seating excludes taller and bigger people from being able to ride. One of the new rides at the park has this style of seating. Someone in our party shared our disappointment that one of our kids could not fit on the ride with the attendant (though he can fit all of the other rides in the park except for Harry Potter, he is a tall teenager, about 6'6"). The attendant apologized to us and said that their rides are "geared towards families". We really couldn't believe the comment. We are clearly a family of 4 with two adults and 2 kids, 1 teen and 1 six year old, so what are you saying? These experiences stood out enough for me that we do not plan to return to Universal Studios in the future. I'm not going to pay to be excluded and have employees be rude on top of that.

If I could give 0 I would. Park was so packed it was hard to move around. Wait times were ridiculous 2 plus hours for most. Food was bland and expensive. After waiting 2 1/2 hours for Jurassic Park ride we were finally at the front of the line and had to wait at least another 15 minutes minimum as they filled the boats from express line and single rider lines. I understand that they payed $150 or more for the express perk but I didn’t get my ticket for free I also paid to get in. The express ticket fee is ridiculous for the minimal amount of rides at universal. Disneyland has way more rides and their genie pass is only $20. We hadn’t been to Universal in years so we decided to do something different but never will I make that mistake again. What a nightmare and waste of a day and money. Universal studios not worth the price of a regular ticket much less express upgrade or vip ticket.

We visited Universal Studios Hollywood for the first time in May 2022, we had previously visited Universal Orlando and were pleasantly surprised with our trip to Universal Hollywood.

We travelled by Metro and found it very easy to find, there is a free bus that leaves from across the bridge from the metro station and takes you straight to the City Walk. We also got an Uber home and it was very easy to organise.

We travelled on a Thursday at May and were blown away by the low crowds, we arrived at 10 am just as the park was opening. We headed straight to Harry Potter and the Forbidden journey as we had previously queued over 90 minutes for this ride in Florida. Imagine our surprise when we walked straight on to the ride!

Our good luck lasted most of the day, by 11am we had done both Harry Potter rides (flight of the Hippogriff is very short, less than a minute and not worth waiting more than fifteen minutes for), the new jurrassic world ride and the mummy. This was everything we had set out to achieve and we were there barely an hour.

The park is considerably smaller than Orlando but it was very manageable and enjoyable for a one day trip. Some of the theming could be better in areas (particularly on the lower lot) but the Harry Potter area is excellent. We were disappointed in the mummy ride, both the story and the experience are better in Orlando.

The real highlight of the video for us was the studio tour. We ended up doing the tour twice, once at 11am and once later in the day at around 4pm.

The tour is more like a ride that takes you into the movies, I wouldn't want to give too much away but it was brilliant. Both our tours were different as some sets and lots were closed for filming in the morning, I imagine you could do it several times and see something new each time.

We also managed to take in the Waterworld show and the animal actors show, Waterworld was amazing! Much better than the film itself, animal actors wasn't for us but may appeal more to families.

Our longest wait overall was 25 minutes for the secret life of pets and we stayed from opening to close. We followed that up with dinner at Vivo Italian kitchen at Universal City walk. This was very enjoyable and I will write a more detailed review.
