    What to Expect
Centrally located in lovely Balboa Park, the San Diego Natural History Museum lies within easy walking distance of the San Diego Zoo, the San Diego Automotive Museum, the Air and Space Museum, and several other attractions.
The museum features exhibits about the animals, plants and geology of southern and Baja California. Explore four floors of exhibits at your leisure. Recent exhibitions have focused on the Whales, California's water crisis, skulls from across the globe, local fossils and other interesting topics.
A stadium-style, giant-screen theater offers screenings of fantastic films, including the museum's flagship film Ocean Oasis — which delves into the links between the Baja California desert and Mexico’s Sea of Cortés.
Founded in 1874, the museum is the oldest scientific institution in southern California. Your admission ticket for the Natural History Museum is valid during regular operating hours, giving you the flexibility to schedule your visit according to your availability.
