We had a terrific day with Travis. We wanted a sort of highlights of Joshua Tree and, boy, did Travis deliver. He will, of course, tailor the day to your wishes. In five hours in the park, we gained an understanding of it while driving, walking, lunching and more. Travis is extremely knowledgeable about plants and geology, in particular. The three of us felt as if we learned so much during Joshua Tree 101. He was also very responsive to emails ahead of time in coordinating the day. And just a terrific day, it was.

I can’t think of a better guide than Travis . We spent 2.5 days exploring three parts of Joshua Tree National Park with him and were astounded by his enthusiasm, knowledge, curiosity, and kindness. He offered the perfect blend of education and silence so we could appreciate the incredible natural beauty of JT. Especially appreciated how he was so many aspects of geography, plants, anthropology, climate and much more into an educational lesson which helped cement everything that we learned and Our time exploring with Travis also taught us a lesson that we knew, but weren’t mindful of: that every step we take is important and that we need to be mindful of how we affect the world around us and how seemingly small differences in where we step and what we do can affect worlds. It's incredibly empowering and a great responsibility that we appreciated. Thank you again for a special time.

We spend two nights in Joshua Tree and it was everything we hoped for. Travis filled our brains with information and kept us safe and comfortable as we made our way through incredible landscapes. We went in being very aggressive with our plan and Travis did an amazing job of paying attention to how we were holding up and made pivots exactly when they were needed to ensure our hike remained fun and the right amount of challenging. Would we hike Joshua Tree again, hell yeah! Would we do it with Travis....we wouldn't do with anyone else! If you are considering Wandering Mojave, stop considering and just book.

The tour of Joshua Tree National Park that Travis gave us was second to none. We covered a lot of ground on his hybrid tour, which included short walks to interesting off-road sights, and learned many fascinating facts about the history, geology, flora, and fauna of the park and the region. He pointed out many features of the park that we would not have noticed on our own. We highly recommend Travis as a guide for anyone who wishes to explore Joshua Tree. We are looking forward to another opportunity to go out with him to visit other parts of the park that we missed on this first visit.

Very happy we arranged this tour. Wandering Mojave was very easy to work with, and our guide Travis was great -- very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and adapted to our interests. We did the "hybrid" drive and hike tour, which took us to very different parts of the park. "Hiking" was very light -- more like some short flat nature walks. I'm sure the proper hikes would be great too, but the hybrid approach is a good way to sample and learn. All four of us agreed that we got waaayyy more out of the JT visit than we would have without the tour.

Three of us hired Travis for 3 full day hikes in Joshua Tree Nat Park, and I also hired him for a full day hike in Joshua Tree. Each day, Travis guided us through totally different sections of the park. As Travis told us, Joshua Tree is his hobby, and he obviously delights in “all things in the park” (flowers, trees, shrubs, grasses, insects, rocks, the park’s history and some of the characters who passed through the park...). We enjoyed his relaxed, friendly way of leading us, helping us learn about the wonders of Joshua tree, and always felt safe with him.

Travis is an absolute star. He’s kind, friendly, patient and so very knowledgeable about Joshua Tree NP. His passion for the land, its history and preservation is evident. We enjoyed our half day hybrid tour of the park with him as our guide, and the booking experience was so friendly, seamless and professional. We loved that we didn’t feel like tourists even though we absolutely were. If you’re interested in exploring Joshua Tree NP, give Wandering Mojave a call.

Our full day tour of Joshua Tree was fantastic. We learned far more than we ever could’ve done on our own. Our guide was well-versed in animal life, plant life, geological events, watersheds, and a lot more. If you want to fully understand the history, and get the maximum amount of knowledge from you visit, you must take a tour with Wandering Mojave. A+!!

Travis supported our family to have our first back country camping trip and it was awesome. I don't think we would have spent a full week out without the support he offered, which was very meaningful to our family. He was a great guide and new favorite person of our 5 year old son too. My brother and I spent three days with Travis in a remote part of the East Mojave. This was an area that I had long admired and wanted to spend some time exploring it. Travis set up a wonderful base camp and we spent our days walking in the desert looking at cacti, flowers and rocks - all my favorite things to look at. We also did some exploring in the larger area on the drive in and out. Travis has great knowledge of plants and identified them as we walked. Fortunately there were quite a few wildflowers so we had plenty to look at. He is also very good at summarizing geologic concepts and I really appreciated that. I plan to hike with Travis again in the future. I am 76 and my brother is 81 so we are starting to feel that we need a younger person with us in remote areas. Travis fit the bill perfectly!

My husband and I scheduled an all day trip in Joshua Tree National Park. Our guide, Travis, was full of information to share with us. He showed us blooming wildflowers, trees, cacti, petroglyphs, birds, insects, and more. We visited the Cottonwood, Porcupine Wash, Challa Garden, and Lost Horse areas. Each of these sites were special in their own way but Travis made sure to avoid crowds. Exploring these sites with him was wonderful and educational, and we learned a lot. The booking process was smooth (prior to our hike) and our questions were answered quickly via email. This company offers a unique, personal service and you will be happy if you chose it to book and plan your hike.

I had an absolute fantastic day with Hollis! The weather was pretty changeable – blizzards, rain, wind and the odd sunny spell – so she tailored the day to ensure that I still had the best possible desert experience. We couldn’t hike as much so Hollis took me to a number of amazing spots that showed a wide range of terrain and plant life, also stopping whenever I wanted to take pictures. Later in the day, when the weather really turned against us, we visited the incredible Noah Purifoy Foundation of assemblage art, which provided a different, but equally enjoyable, taste of the desert. Hollis is a friendly, fun guide with a wide knowledge of the flora, fauna and geology of the region. She’s a first-class communicator and terrific company! I highly recommend a Wandering Mojave hike.
