      Excellent Indian Canyon Tour
Jennie was simply awesome. She took 6 adults on this tour on 12/31 and it was great. She is so knowledgeable but, more importantly, she is so genuinely interested in the area we hiked, the foliage, the history, and the culture. She was able to bring the area to life for us and help us understand the past and the present. The first hike was about a mile - you need sturdy shoes but it is not extremely rigorous and is suitable for all ages. The second hike was shorter and involved some basic bouldering which you can opt out of if you feel it is beyond your comfort zone. We feel fortunate to have been able to spend a little bit of time in Indian Canyon. Thanks!

      Best mistake I ever made!
In Palm Springs for a sister birthday weekend, wanted to do a Joshua tree tour and accidentally booked this one. We had such a great time! Michael L. Was our tour guide and was so personable and knowledgeable about the canyons and flora and fauna. We had a wonderful time, would highly recommend.

      Great trip and tour guide.
A fun trip with an amazing guide. Travis gave us great information during the Jeep tour and the hike. My teen children were fascinated and said “it was not boring at all!” (If you have teens, you KNOW THIS IS A GREAT COMPLIMENT). Travis gave us good restaurant recommendations. I have no hesitation in recommending them!!

Had a great time, we were both happy we did it!
My wife set up our trip to the red Jeep tours so I didn’t really know what to expect. One thing is for sure, I didn’t expect that our guide and driver, Rick, would be teaching me so much about the area and its people in just a three hour time frame. I felt like I learned more during this trip than some of my college classes. We saw canyons that are truly fitting of Hollywood movies, it was impressive. I even have to admit my back wasn’t feeling great from the shenanigans the day before, but I made it through just fine, our driver knew what he was doing. I love to learn and have a little adventure, and this definitely checked both boxes. Thank you again Rick!!

      An Excellent Time!
From the get-go, our guide Darrell was funny and engaging. His talent for banter Was matched evenly by his knowledge of history about the Coachella Valley and surrounding areas. The tour was well-paced and, though not inexpensive, felt very much like a good value. My husband and I have already decided that we’ll take the San Andreas Fault tour during our next trip to Palm Springs and are looking forward to it.

Playing Tourist in our own City
We have lived in the Coachella Valley for more than 30 years. We finally thought we should see some of our desert. We've always wanted to visit the Indian Canyons and selected Desert Adventures Red Jeep Tours. Our guide, Lane, immediately welcomed us like we were old pals. Instantly having fun. She was very knowledgeable about the Indian Canyons and had some interesting trivia before we even got there. Her sound system was excellent and we were able to hear every word. She moved us along without rushing us and taught us so many thing about our desert that we never knew. The hike was completely doable even with old knees and backs. Wonderful history at the halfway point. Cold water and snacks were available on the jeep. It was so great to be outside on such a beautiful day. Ten minutes from the City and totally captivating. Lane was like a great friend when we departed. Will definitely go on more adventures. This was first rate.

      Red Jeep Tour Desert Adventure
This is a MUST if you are in the Coachella Valley! We have been coming to Palm Desert for several years and finally decided to take this tour. It was an amazing experience! We learned so much for our Guide, Morgan. Going into the desert and seeing the San Andreas Fault was an amazing experience. We were able to get some great pictures. Take the morning trip that starts at 8am, it is a little cooler in the morning. Be sure to dress in layers and wear a hat.

      Phil’s the best! (I think)
San Andreas fault tour. Couldn’t have been better. Phil picked us up at our hotel early and dropped us off well after the tour was supposed to end. No rush, willing to stop and explain the flora and fauna and geology at any time. We lost one of there blankets out the back of the Jeep and it was like no big deal, so accommodating and patient. My wife loves pictures and we got everyone she wanted. Free water, granola bars, Oreos and palm fruits. Thanks Phil!

Trip to the San Andrea Fault
Our group of four really enjoyed this tour and our tour guide, Dick. The morning started out chilly, but our open air jeep was equipped with warm blankets! Dick was informative and concerned about safety and the surrounding environment. We learned a lot about the area and would recommend this tour!

    This tour was ok.
Our guide, Mike, was good & very knowledgeable.
However, 3 hours and $150 apiece was both too much time and money.
Tour company might want to consider offering a shorter & less expensive optiom.

If you are REALLY, REALLY into rocks and geology and hiking, you will love it.
If, like us, you're kind of interested, you will have your fill after about 1.5 hours.

Also, side note for tourists using Lyft...this place doesn't have an address that the app recognizes, and it is in the middle of nowhere.
It's a bigger problem when you want to leave at the end of the tour, and our tour guide kindly brought us back to our hotel.
It might be nice if the tour company could make that process easier.

Hi Toni, Thank you for taking the time to provide your review. We appreciate your feedback. While our most popular tour is our 3-hour San Andreas Fault "Bones of the Earth" Jeep Tour, we do offer several shorter tours, including our "Movers and Shakers" tour as well as several shorter San Andreas Fault hiking tour options. Because of the popularity of our 3-hour tour, that is the one that is bookable through TripAdvisor. But all of our other tour options are listed and bookable through our website. We also invite guests to give us a call before booking, and we can help guide you to the most appropriate tour based on your interests and schedule. We have also worked with Google Maps to get our Metate Ranch tour departure location listed. I cannot speak to the proprietary apps that Lyft and Uber use, but if you plug the address shown on our confirmation into Google Maps, you will get turn-by-turn directions directly to our parking lot. We do suggest that guests using Uber or Lyft pre-schedule a pick-up for the return ride as there is no predicting how long it will take to get an on-demand pickup. But if you pre-schedule a pickup, then these services work well for most guests. Guests are welcome to call our reservations desk for assistance. Thank you again for your feedback. We are always hoping to improve and use reviews to help better our services.

We recently took this tour with Rick, "Rickepedia" and it was fantastic! Rick picked us up at our rental in Palm Springs and we were fortunate to start the tour "early" by learning more about the history of PS from a long-time local as this was the first time for most of the group to the area. The tour was very informative and entertaining as we wandered our way through the San Andreas Fault Zone, learning more about its formation as well as the history of the Cahuilla Indians. Rick also took special care to enforce safety requirements, not only as passengers in the back of a jeep but also dealing with COVID protocols. (Request him if you can!)

We did this tour today for the first time. Even as residents of the Coachella Valley for 20 years, we learned a vast amount of new information on desert flora, fauna, animals, and geology from our knowledgable tour guide, Rick Curtiss. We also learned a lot about the amazing first settlers to this area, the Cahuilla Indians. A really great experience and highly recommended.

Enjoyed the tour with big wheel tours to the San Andreas fault trip . Ben our guide was excellent, friendly and very knowledgeable . He knew a lot of the local geological history and also of the vegetation and animals and could multitask pretty cool off roading driving and answering the numerous questions my daughter kept asking :-) A wonderful way to see the Coachella valley and the majestic desert terrain , highly recommend this tour and a big thank you again to Ben .

Fun and energetic romp of a tour. From learning about the history of its indigenous people, the flora and vegetation and animal life, to the conservation efforts, and the hike up a canyon, it was well worth the price. The tour guide was interesting and funny.

My wife and I took this tour yesterday with our two grandkids ages 12 and 14. It was amazing! We learned a lot about the San Andreas Fault, the desert environment, and the history of the area. Of particular note was the quality, experience, knowledge, and friendliness of our guide, Richmond (Rick). His expansive knowledge and understanding of the area was simply amazing. He was an effective teacher, all while catering to our every need. There was no question he couldn't answer and his breadth of knowledge seemed unending. Rick treated us with great respect and perfectly adhered to COVID requirements regarding social distancing, mask wearing, providing each of us with hand sanitizer, etc. I would recommend that anyone taking this tour request this wonderful person as their guide!

I went on this tour with several coworkers. The Jeep picked us up at our hotel. Donna was our driver/guide and was very pleasant, knowledgeable and informative. She had bottled water and granola bars available…and even elastics for tying your hair back while riding in the back of the Jeep. You can ride with the top of the Jeep up or down. The weather was unusually cold (low 60’s) and cloudy on the day we went with a chance of rain, so there were blankets available to use and individually packaged disposable rain ponchos just in case. The open-air Jeeps are customized with 2 bench seats in the back parallel to the road facing each other and can accommodate up to 6 people. We were a group of 4 adults in our Jeep and had plenty of room. Being aware of the cool weather and that the back of a Jeep is windy, we all wore warm jackets and used hats and/or hoods especially while the Jeep was driving at normal speeds on the paved roads before going off-road. Sunglasses are also recommended. We made stops to get out and tour at an oasis, a Native American village, and a couple of slot canyons. Donna provided us with a lot of interesting information throughout. My favorite part was touring and hiking through the slot canyons. It was fascinating to learn about how they formed and notice all the differences in the rock formations; and they are fabulous for photo opps.

What a treat...we had Mike for our guide, we thought it was a tour of the fault but it was way way more then that.. we learned sooo much, about the fault as we drove on top of it, about the topography and how it came to be, the impact of the fault, the flora and fauna and all the critters that call the oasis home... a great 1/2 day for sure and we're going to take the grandkids back.. its good for all ages..Mike, as well as other guides I'm sure, has lived here over 50 years, knows the area incredibly well and tailors each tour to his audience... a very worthwhile tmie indeed!!

We had an amazing time with Ryan touring San Andreas fault and the surrounding area. Ryan was a wonderful guide through an 800-acre ranch of beautiful landscape and indigenous ground -- what a treat! He enthusiastically explained land formation, flora, fauna, everything you can imagine. And he did so with so much enthusiasm and true love of the area his energy was contagious. If you want to explore the fault and beauty of the desert, this company is it! Sign up with Ryan if you can, and enjoy the ride!
