Not worth the money. Wry disappointed.
My 19 year old daughter and I did the $75 Sunday steam locomotive trip. It was literally 20 minutes there - 20 minutes to walk around - and 20 minutes back. The views were just ok. The lady at the concessions stand was rude. Honestly I just don’t understand the pricing for this. $150 for such a short trip??

The Noro River Railbikes - not to be missed
We had a fantastic time on the railbikes. The Railbikes were not difficult to operate and pedaling was easy all the way to our lunch destination. Lunch included a large sandwich, chips, and a drink supplied in a nicely packed picnic bag. The staff, Kyle and Ashton, were very knowledgeable and instructed us on the handling of the vehicle. The ride was very comfortable, with large adjustable length seats to accommodate all sizes of passengers. There was a good hike down (15 stories) to get to the location of the railbikes, which meant you had to be in good shape physically, especially for the hike back up after the trip. However, it was well worth the money considering the 4 hour journey exploring the back country of the great Redwoods . A wonderful trip you shouldn't miss.

    Great time in the redwoods
The singing conductor and the interesting facts about the things we saw along the way. I love history, so it is right up my alley. Introduced the grandchild to the fun experience her mom had when we took her on this train.

    Too expensive
The experience was ok, but the price is pretty insane for the experience. The train is cool. It's a 25 minute train ride through the forest. You see trees, and nothing really all that breathtaking or cool. Then stop, get out, walk around and use the porta potty and get back on. It was $170 with all fees for 1 adult and 2 kids. I think that's about comparable to tickets to an amusement park for the whole day. It was ok, it wasn't bad, wasn't super amazing, but for the price I wouldn't recommend it or ever do it again.

    Mother Son trip
Amazing, unique, one of a kind day. Kyle and Greg our guides were enthusiastic and knowledgable about the surroundings. Kyle's knowledge of train history was down right amazing. Mother son trip, 5 hour drive in and not one thing i would change. You bike peddle with motor assist... easy and breathtaking all at the same time. Lunch was amazing from a local deli. Tasty and plentiful. A must do if you are in this area. Highly recommended. Telling everyone about it.Thank you Kyle and Greg for the jobs that you do and taking us on a magical journey through serene terrain.

    Take the train!
The Skunk Train was such a great experience! We traveled from Ft. Bragg toward Willits. The tracks run through beautiful redwood forests and a meandering creek. A very relaxed trip. We spent some time at the new facilities at Glen Blair Junction and had time to explore the area, including the collapsed tunnel that used to take the train through to Willits. A great experience

Great scenic ride! We saw redwood trees and took a short hike. We took photos in front of the trees. They even had snacks. We loved it!

    Fun
It was a fun way to spend an hour and a half. It was nice they had snacks. You could buy popcorn and candy and drinks. The only negative I have is I wish you were able to stay longer in the redwoods 20 minutes did not seem to be enough time before the train left to go back.

    Glen Blair Bar
We went on the GlenBlair bar ride. The train left at 6:30 but got in line at 6pm. They sold out fast. They sell drinks in the train ride and they have restrooms. We had our dog with us too. The point that there is hiking areas was perfect. Of course, I don't recommend you take your dog if you are unsure of how your dog will behave around other dogs. There was a lot of dogs for the most part well behaved. Unfortunately, the smaller dogs we ran into were big barkers that was a lil annoying. But other than that the experience was worth every $. We would totally do it again!! Also, for that specific train ride it was 96% adults, it was perfect for us since we are parents ourselves but wanted to go on a small adult getaway.

    Skunk Train GLEN BLAIR BAR
What a great new Friday, and Saturday experience on the newly added Skunk Train GLEN BLAIR BAR The train runs along the creek and through the redwoods to a beautiful, hidden forest retreat. With a bar, live music and adult games several fire pits with oversize chairs. The only thing I would definitely change is to add and showcase our local Mendocino, Wines.

    Not too impressed
Nice experience, people at depot very friendly, concession lady not so friendly, would do longer one out of Willits next time feel this one was not worth $60.

Fun ride. Worth the 3-hour drive to get there.
I put my 12-year old grandson on the rail bike, and he talked all night long about how much fun it was. He also told me things he learned about the forest as told by the tour guide.

This was an amazing experience, definitely recommend it. We enjoyed the ride, the bar in the middle of the woods, the environment, lovely hike by the bar, pet friendly, and the train ride was super cool.

I should start by saying the rail bikes were a cool experience and we enjoyed it. The surroundings were beautiful and you do feel immersed. However, it was very expensive ($500 for two bikes) for what you actually get - a relatively short ride through a NEW growth redwood forest (website claims ancient redwoods but on the tour, they explain that the trees are only about 100 years old). The guides were nice and did a very good job but spent just as much time promoting other Skunk Train adventures as they did explaining history/facts about the area. Checked it off the list but not sure we would pay that much again.

The rail bikes are awesome, but for a 2+ hour tour, you’re only on them for 30 mins. There is an electric component, so the 3 miles each way of track isn’t nearly enough to charge what they did. If this was a $50 per person experience, great. But at $265 per bike, this is a total rip off. Would not recommend at this price.

It was definitely a unique experience, which is why I planned our Redwoods vacation around doing the railbikes. I'm not sure I can recommend it to most people, as it is quite expensive. Too bad I didn't book them when I first read about them years ago at about $50 per bike! My family enjoyed the entire ride and took a picnic lunch with us, so it made for a pleasant activity. But it was definitely a one-time (costly!) experience for us! Easily the most expensive activity we did on our entire trip. I have mixed feelings about was it worth the cost, since we got so much joy out of exploring the Redwoods and beaches practically for free.

My partner and I were very disappointed to say the least. Definitely not with the staff or the facility both which were great.
The length of the actual trip on the rail was too short ( less than 45 minutes) a normal human could of walked the path and had as good of experience.
The scenery was not what we expected and then the hike seemed just a way to kill time.
Looking at the advertising I guess we were expecting a lot more for the $220
I know you have other trips which are longer but I feel like your advertising was slightly exaggerated and I consider it misleading.
As one reviewer put it “total cash grab and a waste of my time”.
You’re better off taking a short hike in any of the redwood forests nearby.

So much fun!! The bikes themselves are just fun to ride. The path along the rail is beautiful and the little mile walk in the woods at the halfway point was stunning. The pavilion where you break for lunch is fantastic. The guides were also very clever and entertaining.

We had a fun time riding the rail bike out along Pudding creek. It was a fairly short ride - like 45 minutes out and back, but very enjoyable. Great scenery, and fun to spend some time hiking in the redwoods at the halfway-point stop. The Skunk Train follows the same route, and made a stop there while we were at the half-way point, so we got a chance to board the train and to get our pictures taken on the steps in the front of the locomotive. A nice little bonus. My wife was concerned that the pedaling would be too difficult for her, but the bikes had an electric assist (and the secret is you can not pedal at all and rely on the electric motors to get you there and back). The train museum and model train displays at the junction were a lot of fun too.

Just did this two days ago with hubby and our dog, a Labrador Retriever. It's a bit on the expensive side, so somewhat of an indulgence but we really enjoyed ourselves. The rail bikes are easy to operate and with the electric assist on them, you can be lazy and not even pedal if that's your preference. We pedaled and enjoyed the exercise but the electric assist does come in handy when needed!

You travel out and back with two guides, one is the "pacer car" who leads however many rail bikes are going out at that time, and the other guide brings up the rear. Ezra and Johnny were our "guides" and they were great. Very upbeat and fun.

This is something different to try and was quite enjoyable. Our pooch loved it too. I could not attach the video but I've attached a picture of our pup in the rail card directly behind us right before we took off on our adventure.

We had a great time, the scenery was great and the staff very friendly. We were kind of disappointed at the length of the tour about half of it was spent hiking versus the rail bikes; We understand there were some natural disasters that impacted of the trail. The skunk train followed us and had a bar and food car; it would’ve been lovely to have something to eat at the stop versus waiting for the other train and having to board it.

This is something I’ve wanted to do for a while and it was really lovely and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy the outdoors with a little help from the throttle.

The Railbikes along Pudding Creek was something we’ve wanted to do for awhile now and this trip we managed to get on board. We chose the morning ride and cruising along the creek and through the trees at a blistering 8mph is such a great experience. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience including the silly puns from our lead guide John. If you have a couple of hours to spare in Ft. Bragg, make a reservation and hop on. It’s well worth it!

Riding the railbikes was a unique, fun and hilarious adventure! The guides were both engaging and checked in with each guest throughout the experience. The conductor even traded out our rail Ike for his when we struggled with our seats. It was definitely the highlight of Fort Bragg and one of the best experiences during a two week Northern California trip.
