I had wanted to come visit the Land of the Thunder Dragon for a log time, and I finally managed to make a visit. Swallowtail Travel was very accommodating from the beginning, and even though I did not have much time to research the trip, they're flexibility allowed me to adjust my itinerary as I went along over the 8 days/7 nights. You cannot go wrong with Swallowtail! The guide Passang and driver "uncle" Penjor graciously welcomed me at the airport. The trip involved 1 night in Paro, 2 nights in Thimpu, 2 nights in Punakha, 1 night in Gantay, 2 nights in Paro. Passang was thorough and knowledgeable about all the sites we visited. In addition to being a culture guide, he was also a great lead on our short day treks , and provided me a thorough overview of Bhutanese society. Even when I asked difficult questions that were hard to answer, Passang would quickly research the question and try to provide me an answer on the spot. Penjor was a such a skilled driver that I never had to worry on the hillside winding roads. Both of them were a pleasure to be around, and they were extremely patient in bringing me to all the sites and activities that I wanted to do. Highlights, some of them which were just spontaneous, from my trip included: 1. Hike up Dodeyrak Monastery on the outskirts of Thimpu, having lunch with the monks, getting blessed by the head monk, and having an hour-long discussion with a monastery teachers about applying Buddhism to daily life. 2. Attending the finale of the first season of Bhutan's Got Talent competion in Thimpu square. 3. Sweeping views of Punakha Valley from the top of Khamsum Yulley Namgyel Stupa, built for Bhutan's current king. 4. Enjoying a dinner with a farm family and sleeping at their home in Gantay. 5. Watching the monks rehearse their festival dancing at Paro Tzong. 6. Sitting in meditation at the top of tiger's nest while listening to the monks chant mantras to spread compassion through the valley and out to the world. ...and much much more.... Although I had been influenced by the Theravada Buddhism of Myanmar and had been trying to apply it's principles to daily life, this experience in Bhutan strengthened my resolve to live by it's core tenets. As I leave to return to my hectic life in which I deal with heavy matters, I bring the inspiration of Bhutan with me.

I have just completed my 2 weeks trip to Bhuthan and I have to admit that this is a unique experience. It is a beautiful country with a lot of breathtaking scenery and beautiful people. Swallowtail agency did an excellent job organising it all. They were very responsive,flexible and accommodating to everything we requested. We highly recommend Swallowtail, Passang (guide) and Jigme (driver) if you do visit Bhutan.

We had the most unforgettable trip (7 nights / 8 days) to Bhutan - all thanks to Bhutan Swallowtail Tours. We were a family of four, with two little kids (aged 2 and 5), and we really had such a wonderful holiday. Right from our first email, everything was handled and organised so well. Singye was always prompt with all her replies, and did the perfect itinerary for us keeping in mind our two young children. We visited Thimphu, Punakha, Gangtey Valley and Paro, and did 4 hikes in total. Pema was our guide, and Ugyen was our driver - and honestly we could not have asked for two better people to take us on our Bhutan adventure. They were so warm and friendly, kind, and always out to help us (especially with our kids during the hikes - and our kids were so fond of them) - and of course very knowledgable too. We learnt a lot from them. Our 2 year old gets car sick, and Pema and Ugyen were so careful with the driving to ensure the little one was ok. Even when he did get sick, they were so great with helping us with everything. We are ever so grateful to Pema and Ugyen for taking such great care of our family - and making our time in Bhutan so special. It would not have been the same without the two of you. The name of the tour package we chose with Bhutan Swallowtail Travels was apt in summarising how we felt during our 5 days in Bhutan. It was a perfect mix of nature and culture - as we revelled in the charm of the mountains and greenery through the several hikes our guide brought us on (which also prepared us for the Tiger's Nest hike towards the end of our tour), as well as took in the built sights and interiors of the Punakha dzong, Buddha point and other memorials. We also thoroughly enjoyed our stays in the different accommodation provided, which offered scenic views and the creature comforts of WiFi and hot water. Our heartfelt appreciation to our guide Lobsang who amazed us with his biodiversity knowledge and amused us with his puns and Bhutanese proverb sayings, our driver Kinley who took great care in keeping us safe on the long and winding roads, and Singye for her prompt responses to our many pre-trip queries.

Swallow tail went above and beyond to give us a special trip. Pema's extensive knowledge about Bhutan and Bhuddism was greatly appreciated. He was incredibly patient and kind. I would highly recommend.

We trusted swallowtail with a 15 day, last minute trip to Bhutan… Tashi was amazing to work with from initial submission and helped us craft a custom itinerary that incorporated trekking, cultural sightseeing, relaxation at luxury hotels, and more. Tshering was our guide and I couldn’t recommend him more 💯💯- he knows every part of Bhutan inside and out, including the best restaurants, hiking trails, and must see temples and monasteries (there are a lot, so you’ll want to become selective after a few days). He got to know all our preferences quickly and made our trip so much fun, easy and seamless. Great morning trek to the Tigers Nest Monastery. My guide Pema was very informative. The trek was not too difficult and the reward of the spectacular tigers nest monestary perched on the cliff edge at the top was definitely worth it.

Pema Tenzin guided us (spouse and adult daughter) for 6 days throughout W Bhutan with a tilt towards hiking and culture. Pema was excellent as was Ugyen (our driver). What an adventure! We booked a 9 day tour with Swallowtails Travels. They planned a perfect tour for us with interesting activities every day. Everything from eating lunch at a farm stay, seeing different animals to lovely hikes and of course visiting the Tigers’s Nest. Our guide Tshering and our driver was so caring, tentative, friendly and we felt so taken care of. Don't look any further! Lobsang was an amazing guide! I cannot express how kind he was to my kids and me. He was engaging, funny, and very knowledgeable of the places we visited. We learned a lot about Bhutan and its wonderful culture. My kids are still asking how he’s doing and would love to see him again!! He is also a very friendly person, and his English is impeccable.
