This 5-hour private hike/walking tour will allow you to soak in the natural beauty of Dharamsala. You will visit a local village in Dharamkot, and a temple, market and waterfall in Bhagsunag, all while learning about Tibetan and Hindu culture from your local guide. Start your journey towards Dharamkot. Your walk will be approximately 1.25 miles (2 km) to your first stop, Naddi village. This village is generally inhabited by the Gaddi families, a tribal group from Himachal Pradesh. Naddi village is known worldwide for the presence of the Dalai Lama and offers panoramic views of Kangra Valley and the Dhauladhar ranges. After finding yourself in a ridge covered with high trees and hills, you will reach a small temple named Galu Devi, the oldest temple dedicated to Mata Durgra. The best thing about Dharamkot is the vibe, a mix of music, pure spiritual energy of the Himalayas, and happiness of the simple lifestyle of locals. After this 5 hours hiking tour get back to your hotel.

Basically the tours I need for the day
It was quite a short trip but basically all I need for the day. Very convenient in terms of transportation because I don't need to wait for a ride in the middle of scorching hot Delhi. The guide named Sachin was really helpful, he even offered to give my fussy 6-year-old a piggyback ride!

Great way to start the day! Recommended.
The short summary is - I recommend this excursion. The sunrise from the Kunjapuri Temple was beautiful and the trek down was really enjoyable. Selesh (I hope I spelled that correctly) was a great guide and we really enjoyed our time with him. We had a great, easy conversation as we hiked down the hillside. Things to know: In looking at the various excursions, it can get very confusing which excursions offers what, what they don’t offer, what are the differences, etc.. So hopefully this helps: You will be picked up at (or near) your hotel and driven to the Kunjapuri Temple. The drive is about 30-45 minutes. After watching the sunrise, you’ll grab a quick breakfast from a vendor near the temple. You’ll then hike down the mountain for about 2 - 2 1/2 hrs into Tapovan. We stopped by the Secret Waterfall (not so secret) and then went to a nearby watering hole. We soaked there for a bit and then finished the trek. In our case, the path went right by our hotel, so we finished at that point. If you don’t happen to be staying near the end point, you’ll be offered a ride back to your hotel. A couple of notes, this is not a private trip, so unless you have a large group, you may have a few others with you. In my case, it was my partner and myself, and one solo traveler from Germany. The path down isn’t difficult, but you really need some experience hiking in the wilderness. In spots the trail can be steep and covered with lose rocks (scree). That said, you don’t need trek poles and can easy just walk down. The reason I mention this is that your group’s speed will be gated by the slowest hiker. If you’re someone who likes to hike quickly and cover lots of ground, you may have to adjust your expectations if one of the other party members isn’t a fast hiker. All that said, we really enjoyed our trip and I have no reservations in recommending this trip.

          devine!!
we went to neelkanth mahadev from rishikesh , it took around 1.5 hours by taxi . you can hire shared taxi for 8 people which is cheap . the temple is on a hill . long ques are expected on week ends . there are a lot shops for prasads who also take care of your foot wear . in peak season the taxi drop you about 1 km away from the shrine .although I saw some shared taxis near to the shrine . may be there are some way to bend the rules . the darshan was devine and that is what important . jai mahadev

          Beautiful sunrise and fun trek
Shelesh and driver were right on time for our pickup 5am from Rishikesh. We enjoyed masala chai around 6 then walked the last steps to the top to watch. The Himalayas were visible in the distance. The sunrise was beautiful and a must see. After sunrise we gave offerings in the temple and tied a scarf piece for good luck outside. Then we walked back to chai place and had breakfast. After breakfast we began our trek all downhill to Tapovan. It was a great adventure and Shelesh was a friendly and knowledgeable guide who asked us questions too and has very good English! We enjoyed the trek and suggest wearing hiking boots or trainers with good traction for this expedition. We highly recommend this guide, company and particular tour.

          RAJAJI IS A SCAM!!
RAJAJI NATONAL PARK IS A SCAM! Satendra Saini who you talk with is also a scammer/cheater. We came all the way from Denmark and took the Safari tour, and we saw nothing and they dont inform you about anything. There is no guarantee and the have no animals in the park, basically 5 Tigers who hide away in the winter. All you see is trees. STAY AWAY! Find something else. They dont give you any money back even though alot of people have seen nothing there.

Perfect combination of healing and thrilling !
Pick up at hotel in the morning → Drive to Kunjapuri temple → Return will be a trekking course where you will walk down the mountain. It is very cold at the temple before sunrise, so please take a warm jacket. The sunrise was so beautiful and it was worth the wait. On the way back, you'll pass through a fairly steep road, I recommend wearing trekking shoes. It was a new experience for me and had a lot of fun! My guide Shelesh, was very punctual, polite and professional with extensive knowledge and nice conversation. I'm not used to mountains, but he kept an eye on my pace and made sure I was ok. Thank you very much!

          SMOOTH AND EASY
Moving from flight through Immigration amd Customs was quick and easy. Having read countless tales if woe about getting a taxi from the airport to the city center, l was very apprehensive. In reality - it was a stress free breeze! Paid the correct money. Recieved two pieces of paper (of pre payment) and wandered out to get a yellow and black cab. Easy job! ATMs are frequently not working or empty - be aware!

          Amazing Kunjapuri Sunrise trek
One of the best experiences in India. Our tour started earlier than expected as our tour guide wanted to make sure we could enjoy all the sunrise colors. We arrived to the temple and enjoyed a very peaceful setting and the amazing sunrise After, our guide Shelesh toured us around the temple and told us about its significance and story. We had a lovely breakfast and initiated our trekking down the mountain to the waterfall The landscape was amazing and the trekking quite enjoyable Highly recommend this activity to get away for some hours from the village and the noise Shelesh our guide was great and made sure we fully enjoyed our tour

          terrible
Well, we don't even know if the tour is happening. We have not had responses to 4 queries about when and where our pickup tomorrow is at local time 9 am (it is 10 pm now). We have read other recent reviews indicating similar terrible experiences for those who did go on the tour. We want to cancel for a full refund, given THESE particular issues. The tour operator is silent, as they have been for the last 20 days. P

Do not book this tour. Explore on your own!
Do not book this tour. I booked this trip a few weeks in advance and up to the day of the actual tour had not received any information from the company about where our driver would be picking us up or anything. I called the number they had given as a contact but the number does not exist. Finally we got into contact with the company through which they shared our guide details. He showed up an hour late and we found out that he does not speak English (which was our requested language) and he was not a guide but only a driver, which is not what we paid for. After another hour of being on the phone with the company they were searching for a guide for us which would have required another hour of waiting. In the end we cancelled it and left very unhappy. Plus the price is outrageous especially because 2/3 of the activities where it says "Admission included" are free temples. Better off exploring alone!
