- 2018Traumreisende0 contributionsFantastic private tourWe had contacted Aung Zay to plan our individual three-day sightseeing tour in Mandalay and Bagan with him. Aung Zay organized a wonderful private tour for us at a very good price. He took care of all our interests and requests and always answered our questions promptly. Our guides in Mandalay, Yan Naing Moe, and in Bagan, Myo Min Thu, were fantastic. They are very committed, speak excellent English and gave us a vivid insight into the culture, history and religion of their country. They are absolutely reliable and trustworthy, have excellent knowledge and gave us interesting insights into the everyday life of the Burmese people. Our three-day tour with Old Bagan Tour was one of our best trips we ever made.Written February 25, 2020
- BrianSZSG0 contributionsExcellent guide and tourWe were in Bagan over Christmas last year (2019) and we had 2 days of private tours with Aung Zay. We travel fairly extensively, and have to say that Aung Zay is the best personal guide we've ever had. He is knowledgable about the sites, passionate about history and curated the visits well. Crucially, he was very thoughtful and sensitive to our priorities. Noticing we took our time to take photos, he accommodated our pace, and also offered to take numerous photos of us. His photography skills are excellent, and he also knew the exact spots from which scenic vistas and angles could be captured. Highly recommended.Written February 21, 2020
- Grace K0 contributionsGreat TourWe had a great tour in Bagan with Old Bagan tour. Aung Zay has done a great job, everything was well organized from picking us from the airport. Very detailed explanation about the history of Bagan, he knew all the best sports for photos. He arranged the hot air balloon ride for us which also included many complimentary sites, one of them was the culture show inside the palace. We enjoyed very much. Thank you for the best tips and arrangement. We highly recommended Aung Zay as your tour guide.Written February 19, 2020

- Andrerela0 contributionsOld Bagan ToursWe contacted MrAung Zay by email and after his courteous reply we booked him at very short notice for a day tour of Bagan. We had a brilliant day being shown around by Aung Zay and his driver. He speaks very good English and vas very informative and passionate about Bagan. We also visited a lacquer workshop but never were under any pressure to buy anything. After a late lunch he dropped us back at our hotel and picked us up late afternoon to take us to a vantage point to see the sunset. All in all an excellent day. If you want a relaxed and informative tour then I strongly recommend Old Bagan Tours. Subsequently we booked his driver who also speaks English, for a very quick and safe transfer to Mandalay.Written January 15, 2020
- Masaya Y0 contributionsAwesome tripsOur tour guide Myo Min Thu was very knowledgeable and providing assistance / information during our stay in Bagan including sunrise view points and local restaurants advice. Besides, he has excellent photography skills and took lots of awesome photos for our memories. We are very satisfied with his service.Written December 28, 2019
- cherrytree800 contributionsPerfect 2 day time in BaganAung Zay was a perfect tour guide. Knowledgeable, interesting, friendly, and flexible. We felt like we saw all the major temples in day one without having the stress of navigating the archeological zone ourselves. We also had the benefits of a knowledgeable guide who have is insights into what we were looking at. When we decided last minute that we wanted to see sunrise (sunset on the first day is already included) he was able to accommodate a great sunrise spot. (Please give him more notice than we did...) As a photographer, he's also happy to give good advice on where to stand to get great shots at each site, and took pictures of our group that were better than we'd take ourselves. Day two was Mt. Popa, and a bit more relaxed than day one since we weren't interested in climbing the 700+ steps to the monastery. (We'd heard ahead of time that the views OF the site from Aung Zay's selected vantage points are better than AT the monastery). He covers more culture, history, and religious traditions with a light touch that felt like the right amount. We'd definitely recommend his services for any tours around Bagan.Written December 17, 2019
- archana12320150 contributionsAwesome guideMr Aung Zay was an absolutely awesome guide, extremely knowledgeable and very patient. He answered all our questions and was able to time our visits so we missed larger tour groups. We were also able to take a break in the afternoon to avoid the oppressive heat and then regroup in the evening to continue the tour of temples and enjoy a picturesque sunset. The fact that he was a talented photographer was a cherry on the cake!Written December 10, 2019
- ShiyueX10 contributionsYour Best Guide and Photographer for The Day!We managed to book a biking trip with Aung Zay one day before after reading so many good reviews about him. Aung Zay spoke good English and he carries his own sense of humour - when he explained to us the difference between the early and later styles of Buddha. He was not rushing the trip through as my friend and I are both novice cyclists and the sandy roads posed a tiny bit of challenge for us haha; he chose the easy roads for us but still passed by the amazing sites. Aung Zay did a great job explaining Buddhism and temples to us. His recommendation for lunch was top notch! It was local, authentic, and very yummy! I have tried some other places for local food during this trip but the mutton curry from that place is simply the best. Aung Zay is very passionate about photography, he’s very familiar with every nuanced techniques, my friend and I were really impressed. We would definitely recommend him to anyone who’s interested in riding a bike around old Bagan to see the great views, to learn something about Buddhism and Myanmar, and to have gorgeous photos taken.Written November 6, 2019
- Mikekinton0 contributionsAmazing trip.8 college friends and I studying in China decided to take a trip to a place we knew nothing about. After a long bus ride from Yangon to Bagan, Aung was there with a warm welcome. He was very knowledgeable and took us to see everything we needed to see. When we were hungry, he had great recommendations and we were always taking care of. I highly recommend AungWritten October 8, 2019
- finnsmitho0 contributions2 Day Bagan and Mount Popa TourHad an amazing time over the past 2 days experiencing Bagan with Aung. He was very organised picking us up from the hotel both mornings on time, there was a group of 9 teens and we got to utilise his van and there was a driver who took us around too. Aung was great with his information too , he never spoke too much or too little , was enough to keep us engaged but not make us feel like we had information overload. Highlights were definitely seeing the sunset out on the water in a private boat in old Bagan, he also knew local spots that were not flooded with tourists so we felt like we had the local experience. His communication skills were excellent too !, overall an awesome time and would highly recommend!Written September 30, 2019
- lingamn0 contributionsAungzayAfter reading through reviews , we decided on Old Bagan Tours as he had many positive reviews. And , it was true! Aungzay was amazing from the moment he picked us at the airport till he bid goodbye the next day. We did Bagan and Mount Popa . He was very obliging and planned our itinery well enough so we weren't too " temple-ed out" . Also was more than happy to answer all our questions and always obliging to all we wanted to do and see.Written September 6, 2019

- AngieNair0 contributionsBest guide in Bagan! If you are looking for someone who speaks english well, has an amazing knowledge of history, buddhism and the ins& outs of bagan and popa, photography skills that are out of this world, patient, kind and trustworthy......Aung Zay is the man for you. We had the best time because of him and his enthusiasm, his ever pleasing nature and really just a genuinely nice person. The tour of bagan was comprehensive and mount popa was just unbelievable. Definitely worth the trip to Popa. The transport van was good, clean, airconditioned, well stocked with mineral water and the driver was very good. All in all, had the best time with aung zay!Written August 25, 2019

We - my wife, two daughters (aged 15 and 18) and I - have just returned from Myanmar. The highlight of the entire trip was the full day we spent in Bagan. After a balloon ride (which was wonderful and worth the investment) we met Aung Zay for a tour of the historical and archaeological sites. To begin with, Aung Zay is passionate and informed about what he is describing. He knows the material thoroughly and can convey it exceptionally well in English. In addition, he is genuinely warm and personable. He remembered everyone's name and there day was just an easy conversation. Aung Day is also a talented photographer and we now have some great family shots and landscapes we would not have had without him. The girls even have some fun instagram photos based on his recommendations and skill with their iPhones. Let him help you. Finally, it is worth mentioning that making the arrangements were easy and professional. Everything worked very well. I am very happy to recommend Aung Zay.

A real highlight of our trip around Myanmar. There are 3122 Temples & Pagodas in Bagan and there is no better way of seeing a high proportion of them, whilst floating in a hot air balloon @ sunrise. Not the cheapest experience in Myanmar but certainly one of the best. Not to be missed.

This was a great trip. My guide was very knowledgeable about the past and current history. It’s a troubling time to be in Myanmar and hear the stories first hand, but it impacts the trip that much more. Highly recommend a stop in Bagan with a guide to make the most of it.

This was an amazing tour. Mr. Hnin Ko (KoKo) was an awesome guide. They took us first to the local market where the villagers come each day. Then on to the temples and pagodas. He was full of knowledge, both current and past. Super informative and would highly recommend this tour. They even picked us up and dropped us off at the airport as we flew up to Bagan in the morning and had to leave that evening. Top notch tour!

We had a wonderful time in Bagan last month! I must say it was all because we had Auang Zay as our guide! He is very accommodating and goes beyond our expectations. His English is excellent and has very extensive knowledge of Bagan as he is a local. Not to mention he is great photographer too!! We had so many great photos from our vacation, it’s like having your own professional photographer! We were spoiled by him and the driver! I really recommend Auang Zay to everyone who wants to visit Bagan!

We were fortunate to spend a few days in Bagan with Aung Zay visiting around Bagan. The temples are spectacular and Aung Zay created a great itinerary that combined different types of buildings, while explaining each one in a way that made them distinct and memorable. The tour was a private tour with my wife and I, and he completely personalized it to our pace, our interests, and our desire to sleep late in the morning (!). He makes it all interesting and is very knowledgeable about each building and the history- easily switching from "presenting" on a site to Q & A and very perceptive to our reactions and moods- IOW, it was the opposite of a guide that feels like everything is just speaking from a fixed script.
One suggestion: we had booked two days with Aung Zay and would have liked to even do a third day, but he was no longer available. Instead he suggested a sunset boat cruise on the river. I'd strongly recommend this- you have a very different feel for the place when you see it from the river. The price was very reasonable for a ~90 minute boat cruise- about $35 for the two of us including tuk-tuk to/from our hotel. We were surprised to find we had the entire boat to ourselves and it included drinks and some nice salad and snacks. Very peaceful way to end our trip!

Hi how many hours from yangon to bagan? And is it by car? For 3 person
Written April 13, 2019
From Yangon to Bagan was 2hours by plane. I’m sure how long if by car..the road conditions etc..maybe more than 6hours. We flew with Myanmar National Airlines, the flight was smooth and the service was excellent. We used local travel agency to arrange for our trip in Bagan. They picked us up from the place we stay in Yangon. They arranged the entire trip including hot air balloon in Bagan. During our return, they pick us up and send to our place back in Yangon. It’s like door to door service! 😀
