I give Lazaro 5 stars for guiding me up the machane route in 6 days. Lazaro is the man to help get you over the edge and give you that push on summit day when you need it the most. Without him and his team; I don’t think I would’ve been able to make it solo.

Excellent hike up to Kilimanjaro's summit on the Marangu route. Lazaro has a very good team put together. The food was outstanding, and we ate like royalty every meal. Lazaro and Izikya adjusted the hiking pace to match our ideal one, and enabled us to move up to the top at a good speed without overexerting ourselves. They were well prepared - towards the top they gave me a hiking pole (which I had not brought) to help me stabilize myself in the snow, and when it seemed that we were dehydrated gave us some delicious tea they had carried with them in a thermos. They also were very flexible when it came to adapting the itinerary to our needs and scheduling constraints. Very professional yet approachable people. I would very highly recommend Lazaro and Izikya as guides, and their whole team as an ideal group to tackle Kilimanjaro with. Thank you so much for a great trip!

We booked a 7-Day Lemosho climb with Lazaro on the recommendation of a friend. Uphill's team was outstanding and got us to the top and back down safely. The other reviews here are reflective of our experience--everything was done in an organized and professional manner. I can add that while my luggage didn't arrive at the airport, Lazaro made sure I was set up to begin the climb and arranged for a porter to bring the rest of my gear up once it finally arrived a few days later.

I had the opportunity to climb Mount Kilimanjaro last month with the Uphill Company. In itself, it is a wonderful experience that allows you to see incredible places and breathtaking views. This experience was made all the sweeter by the company, which assisted us in every move and need. Lazaro is a super person and his team is organised and functional. Every day they served breakfast, snacks and hot meals in large quantities as well as providing for the setting up/taking down of tents and the transport of the heaviest luggage and much more Thanks again to him and the guys for this wonderful experience. Me and my 9 friends were guided on top of Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho route by Lazaro and his team. It was an amazing experience and the support we received is unmatched: transport,tents, food, equipment, portable toilet. They do all they can to maximize the comfort on the mountain and thus the chance of summiting. Our group was all able to reach the roof of Africa. Highly recommended

We chose UpHill Treks based on a recommendation from a friend who had organized an ascent to Mount Kilimanjaro a few months before us. From the beginning our guide (Lazaro) was available to resolve our doubts and questions even before our departure so that we could prepare our equipment as best we could. The payment was made partly before we left and partly once we arrived on site, but even on this aspect UpHill offers different solutions to adapt to customers' needs. Lazaro accompanied us throughout our stay in Tanzania, making the best arrangements for transportation, hotel and shuttles to and from the airport. During the trek Lazaro was able to guide us as best he could, giving us an appropriate pace for all four members of our group, and gave us useful advice on how best to deal with altitude sickness. We had 14 other people with us (another guide, a cook, and 12 porters). Their team is really great. Every day we would leave the trekking camp, and upon arriving at the next camp we would find our tents already set up and a thermos of tea to welcome us. The food was never lacking-many times we struggled to finish it (we are 4 guys of 28 years old, so our appetite is not lacking). The meals were always healthy and fresh and we had no problems whatsoever. UpHill offers a private toilet service which was our salvation where in some camps the permanent toilets were less than inviting. Even the bathroom tent was always available from the time we arrived at the camp to the time we left it. We chose the 8 Days Lemosho route to have optimal acclimatization. In the end, all four of us reached the summit without any kind of problem. Of course the last day is not a Sunday walk but slowly we conquered Uhuru Peak! Great experience! 8 days Lemosho route ended with the summit! Lazaro, the guide, and the whole team have been great! Every meal was delicious. Every step was done with safety as priority but the summit as target.

I could not recommend enough this company and particularly our guide Nickson. He picked us up from our Hotel on time and did a briefing session of what we would need for the hike and what each day would look like. Nickson was very knowledgeable about the local area and taught us a lot about the culture and vegetation on the mountain. They provided a lot of food for the hike and we were always left full at the end of each meal. Nickson also took us to see the waterfalls at the base of the mountain before we headed home. Overall was a great experience and would recommend our guide.

A trip of a lifetime; an experience of a lifetime! We did a six day trek up the Machame Route to the top of Kilimanjaro. Lazaro, Thadeus, and Abdullah were amazing guides as were their entire crew. Each day started with tea in our tents followed by amazing sit down meals 3 times a day. We were fed like queens at breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Amazing soups, fresh vegetables and high quality meats and fish! Two of our team were GF and they bent over backwards to keep up healthy and satisfied. On day two, we had formal introductions from the crew. There was amazing singing and dancing. I smiled so hard, my heart was so full, I admit I cried a bit. People from other camps came to watch. We were so lucky to have such a great crew that made us feel welcomed. As we climbed together day after day, I realized that the pace was intentional. We were all well trained, but the slow pace gave us time to be relational and learn about each other, learn the history of the mountain, enjoy the unique flora and fauna and feel strong heading up. "Pole, Pole" all the way to the tippy top of Africa. The guides were encouraging, knowledgable, joyful, patient and strong in character and pride. I can't recommend them enough. Go do it! Go climb Kilimanjaro with this amazing team! You won't, I promise, regret it!!!

If you'd like a taste of the Mt Kilimanjaro trail without the multi-day commitment, I highly recommend a day trip on the Marangu route with Uphill Treks! My husband Jim and I were guided by Lazaro for a delightful trek through the rain forest up to the first set of overnight Mandara Huts. After a tasty box lunch we continued over and down through the near by crater before heading back down to the gate. The trek gave us a sense of the majesty of the mountain and its climbing challenge at a pleasant pace. The scenery was majestic.

Amazing experience. Lazaro and his team were absolutely incredibly. Lazaro is so professional and runs a tight ship. He puts safety first and foremost. I felt so safe and taken care of the entire time. The guides, cook and porters went above and beyond to take care of any need that arose. I felt like royalty the entire trek. We weren’t allowed to do anything at all (in the best way possible) beyond hiking from camp to camp. The entire team took care of every one of our needs. They were all so friendly, kind and happy. The food was so wonderful. We were extremely well fed. They definitely didn’t hold back on portion sizes! Lazaro wants you to succeed, so he does everything in his power to set you up for success. My mom and I booked the Machame route to Kilimanjaro summit and loved it. Uphill trekking stafss were our guides and they were fantastic. They made us feel safe and comfortable. The team of 10 porters, chef, and 2 guides was a hoot. Everyone was joking and laughing for the whole 6 days!!
