Excellent and Amazing 8-Day African Safari in Tanzania with Kilimanjaro Brothers, Eli Nassary and Decha Hamphrey
Tanzania is an amazing and incredible country in Africa. We had the time of our lives, a dream come true! We fell in love with its people, the Tanzanians. They are very kind, made us feel at home and always saying “Hakuna matata”. We selected Kilimanjaro Brothers as our tour company for our 8-day safari and we were not disappointed. The private and personalized tour program was very well planned. Kilimanjaro Brothers assigned Eli Nassary and Decha Hamphrey as our support team. We were very fortunate to have Eli as our safari guide and driver. He made sure that we didn’t miss anything and he found ways to make our experience more memorable at the Serengeti, Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks and at the Ngorongoro Crater. We were able to see animals crossing the Mara river, as part of the great migration, just a few hours after we arrived at the Serengeti. This was partly made possible by Eli’s excellent communication with other tour guides because they all share information about animal sightings at the parks. When we were not able to visit one of the parks, Eli quickly found something interesting that we could do. We cannot miss to recognize that Eli has an eagle eye to see animals from afar. We didn’t see a kill but we learned it’s not that easy and patience is key to enjoy the wild life. Definitely, we want to comeback. Decha, on the hand, is a very talented photographer. With his state of the art camera, he captured our unforgettable memories of Africa with professionalism and high quality work. The photos and videos that we received are far better than the ones we took using our iPhones.

Trip of a lifetime, made better by this team of guides.
What a trip! From being met at the airport, accompanied up the mountain and fed and watered, everything was organised well. George introduced the trip the evening before and then we were accompanied by the knowledgeable, cheerful and encouraging guides. A special shout out to Paulo, Rafael, Richard and Eli who ensured we were fully informed on the itinerary, had amazing food and kept us going at an appropriate pace. We beat the odds as a group, with 13/15 reaching the summit. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Kilimanjaro brothers. They have kit which can be borrowed, although we took our own.

          Kilimanjaro Climb with Trekking Hero
We had the pleasure of climbing Kilimanjaro on the Lemosho Route with our great guides Side (pronounced see Dee) and Martin from Trekking Hero. They did a masterful job in ensuring we climbed in a way to optimize acclimatization. The Trekking Hero team also did a great job in setting up camps, providing excellent meals and wonderful support. The one thing I’d recommend is to get the private toilet tents since the public tourist toilets are just holes in the cement floor, are typically filthy and doors to stalls don’t properly close.

Thank you George and his Kilimanjaro Brothers for our Safari & Kilimanjaro Climb
A group of friends who had previously climbed Kilimanjaro with George’s company recommended to us, we weren’t disappointed one bit. Right from the outset a year in advance when planning our 2 day safari to the Tarangire and Ngorongoro national parks and the 7 day Machame Kilimanjaro route, George was absolutely superb. Always available to answer our queries night and day. No pressure whatsoever and when George face timed a few times, I knew this is the right local company to venture with. There is no middle man to haggle with and pay more than what we need to. Our once in a lifetime journey and expedition took effect from 1st September 2022 whereby we were warmly greeted by George and his wonderful team at Kilimanjaro airport. We opted for the 2day 1night safari at the beginning of our trip and absolutely thrilled with this decision because we enjoyed the safari so much and even saw the elusive black rhino whilst at the Ngorongoro Crater, truly spectacular. We also saw a famil6 of lions, very closeup up of a family of elephants grazing, wilder beast, gazelles, antelopes, warthogs, a python up in a tree, hippos, zebras and many more. We had lunch right in the heart of the crater - an u forgettable experience organised only by George and his team. The safari was followed by the 7day Machame route to Mount Kilimanjaro, what an experience. Truly tiring but if you’re a regular hiker and fit/active then you should be okay to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Our three guides, Eli, Justin and Mgosi had all the skills, experience and patience and ensured they went at a very pole pole rate meaning slow slow in Swahili. The entire crew from the guides to the chef and porters were amazing. Our breakfast, lunch and dinner were of quality and taste and prepared freshly at each campsite. A special mention to Barakah who served us our meals and also replenished our water each evening and morning, thank you. All six of us successfully summited Mount Kilimanjaro with the added bonus of the full moon summit which we pre planned with George a year in advance. Overall, we had the most fantastic time of our lives which was only possible due to George and his wonderful team. The certificate-presentation ceremony was superb and all the crew were present with us. If you are planning a safari or Mount Kilimanjaro then George and his Kilimanjaro Brothers company is the one. Thank you so much George and crew for our once in a lifetime experience.

Kilimanjaro Lemosho route with Kili Brothers
Short version: We had a good experience and recommend them. We got a good price and are very happy with the service and efficiency of George who helped us arrange it.  Long version: I had contacted George a few weeks before we arrived to tanzania and we haggled a bit about the price and came to a good agreement. When we finally booked everything worked out beautifully. We got picked up from the airport, went to their office to pick up the gear we needed. Met our main guide Eli and they drove us to the hotel where we got a good and long briefing about the 7 day lemosho route we were taking. After the briefing they checked out our clothes and all our gear to make sure we had what we needed for the mountain. Then the day after we started. It was only me and my fiance on the trip. We had 2 guides, Eli and Sanka, one chef William, one server/porter Ima and 8 porters.  The food was good and plentiful! For dinner soup (william really knows his soupd, delicious), maincourse and often fruit for dessert. We got tea and gingertea everyday. We could choose hot chocolate in the morning if we wanted to.  We had hot water for washing every day morning and when we arrived to camp except for in basecamp.  The tent was very roomy. Unfortunately they had chosen a dry season tent for us and the rainseason was just starting so the outer tent leaked and sometimes even the inner tent which was not so good. The tent wasn't put up optimally one of the days where it leaked in. I told the guides who made sure that the tent was put up better the following days. Also the waterproof bags that we had our sleepingbags and sleeping mats in was not really waterproof. One of the evenings they were moist. Not enought to make it unusable but enough for me to get annoyed.  At two times the tents was placed so that the rain risked to flow under the tent, but Ima and one of the porters Pasoa went out in the cold rain digging with their hands to make a little canal for the water to go to instead.  The guides were helpful and listened to our opinions about tempo and so forth. During summit night our summitporter turned back after just 1 hour and didn't come back. Very odd. But our guides took the emergency equipment instead and Sanka even took my daybag when it was getting to tough for me to carry it. And yes, it was tough walking 6 hours in the dark, up up up!  How Eli did it I do not know but we arrived to Uhuru peak 3 minutes before sunrise! Perfect timing. We were the 2nd group to the top, so the first group was too early to the sunrise on the peak and the ones after us came too late. When we arrived down again, the porters treated us like king & queen. Put out our chairs, dusted us off and even took of my gaiters and shoes! Service! Almost felt embarrassed! After the 7 days trek we all gathered and had a beer/soda together. It was very nice. Ofcours the tipping part is always very awkward for us scandinavians since it's not really a part of our culture but George made it to a less awkward experience.  George promised to make sure that the right tent for the season is picked and that the sleepingbags and sleepingmats really are in waterproof bags in the future and he took the feedback very professionally!  Conclusion! A great experience with Kilimanjaro brothers!

          Kilimanjaro Summit 2021
George and his team didn’t miss a detail for my Marungu 5 day hike. My trusted veteran guide Able became my brother along with my cook Sariri, stud porters Kerenge, Baraka and Nanyaru! To my surprise, Sariri baked me a birthday cake on my summit day at base camp(15,000ft! Elevation)! I will always remember these moments for the rest of my life and highly recommend George and his team to make your trip memorable!

          Climb of Kilimanjaro
To share my impressions of this company. We were group of 15 spending 7 days in Tanzania in order to climb Uhuru Peak in Kilimanjaro. They were persistent in their care for our safety, comfort to the extent possible, and in making this otherwise demanding journey a pleasant experience. They provided all means for sleeping for 5 nights (tents) and took care for our food and water during the entire climb. Great service. I would strongly recommend.

Killimanjaro Brother's service can be summed up as "Excellence, precision, professionalism!"
In 2018, a group of about 20 of us embarked on an adventure of a lifetime with George and his team at Kili Brothers. I had researched many companies and the reviews at that stage were already outstanding from Kilibrothers on Tripadviser. I was the group organiser based in South Africa, and contacted Killi Brothers, within the hour I was emailed back. I was taken aback at how fast, friendly and efficient this company was! They handled all the queries and logistics that come with managing such a big group, from flight arrangements from different cities in South Africa to dietary requirements and insurance (more about this later, as it was vitally important) A group of us had problems with our connecting flight from Kenya to Tanzania and ended up landing at 2 am of the first day of our trek. This did not stop Killi brothers from being at the airport at that time to warmly welcome us and take us to our hotel. We had a briefing, and gear check before the trip as well as a traditional sending off party with who would be our guides on the mountain. Our expedition started off and we had some hikers who experienced altitude sickness at various stages of the hiking days. Some hikers were slow and some were fast, we were a group made up of all different ages and walks of life, but the efficiency and LOVE and CARE that the Killibrothers showed (without an expectation of anything) was unbelievable. The food was delicious! and the team of porters never failed in making sure our tents and toilet tents were set up and ready for us when we arrived. One member had to descend on day two, and was accompanied by a professional head guide, on day 4/5 three other members had to descend again accompanied by a head guide to make sure the health of those members were constantly monitored along the way. Our group had insurance with SAR (Search and Rescue) Kilimanjaro Ltd. However the three members could not be airlifted as the weather made it impossible for the helicopter to land. They however made it safely down on foot and had 4x4's waiting for them with a doctor to check their vitals and evalaute them all the way back the the High Altitude section of the Hospital run by SAR Killimanjaro. On summit day, at 5000m I had to turn back as I was experiencing breathing difficulties, I was fortunate to be able to be airlifted at the height of base camp, 4500m- later to find out I was 6 weeks pregnant at the hospital! My son is now 1 years old and so strong, we joke its the mountain air. Killibrothers managed us with so much care and love during this time, they kept us in contact with our team who went on to summit, and the rest of us were cared for like family members by Killibrothers and SAR Kilimanjaro. The rest of our team made it to Stella Point!! The weather was fierce on that night and to proceed to Uhuru would have been reckless. We had so much fun!! So many MEMORIES! I cant describe how amazing our time was in the mountain with our friends and our new family made at Killibrothers. Equally important was to make sure we all got home safely. The mountain will always be there, and we were all grateful to be on the same page with regards to priorities. Life came first. Our expereince with Killibrothers cannot be summed up in these words about, sometimes people touch your heart so deeply, the magic is left for years to come. Asante Sana Killibrothers thank you! You have not seen the last of us, we indeed to soon come back, not being pregnant, lol, and stand together on Uhuru. Thank you for the warm sending off party you had for us at the end and taking each team back at different times to their flights. Thank you for checking up on us when we arrived back home! Thank you for all your had done. If you are thinking of an adventure of a life time and to experience the warmth love and culture of its people, Killibrothers are YOUR TEAM! ps. Take out the insurance from SAR Killimanjaro Litd, when we needed it, it saved our lives, dont skip this. When I was airlifted, there was a doctor on board as well to make sure I was stable as well.

Life changing adventure with Kili Brothers!
JAMBO! If you're looking for the best guide company for your Kili climb or safari, you've found them. My husband and I did the 7 day Lemosho trek, 4 day safari, Maasai tour and coffee/waterfall tour with Kilimanjaro Brothers. So, we'll start at the beginning! Before we booked we read a ton of reviews and emailed a couple different guide companies, George was the most responsive and laid out the best itinerary. We trusted him from the start as he started as a porter himself and built his own local business. We were picked up from the airport by Kibo, with the warmest smile and most welcoming attitude. The next morning when we went to pay the balance of our trip, our cards didn't work, we called the bank and got it sorted and when I apologized for the delay he said "Hakuna Matata!" with the biggest smile! Kili Climb: Before we left our hotel for the climb, our guides Karimu and Joseph came to our room to check our gear. They double checked to make sure we were prepared for all elements. We rented 1 sleeping bag that was high quality and warm. We felt very safe with Karimu and Joseph, they were highly knowledgeable, fun, and attentive to us. Edward was our chef, his food was excellent. August was our waiter and he took great care of us. We loved when he brought coffee to our tent in the morning and he would boil water to put in our Nalgene bottles at night to keep us extra warm in our sleeping bags. We summited a day early because our group was feeling healthy and strong. One of the porters, Stanley, joined us on the summit day and was an awesome addition. We had the best experience on the mountain with Kilimanjaro Brothers! Safari: We did 4 days of Safari in Tanagarie, Ngorongoro, and Serengeti. Sharif was our guide and we couldn't have asked for a better one! He was so nice and knowledgeable about all the animals. He also has an amazing eye for finding animals we would have never seen. We saw Africa's Big 5 animals in 1 day! Tortillas camp was our favorite place to stay. If you want to book with a company where you feel like family then book with Kili Brothers. George met us before and after the hike and joined us for a dinner. We watched Karimu and Joseph pick up garbage on the mountain to throw away in trash cans. Sharif would collect uneaten lunch items and package them together to hand out to hungry children on our drives out of the parks. Kibo joined us on the Massai and coffee tour and made us feel like we were just hanging out with our friends rather than being on a "tour". Not only did they all do their jobs exceptionally well but they are good caring people! A few things to consider: 1. Most places like and will accept American Dollars, but bring a few Tanzanian Shilling for the smaller vendors and places you may stop along the way. And bring smaller bills for dividing up tips. 2. Pack extra hiking gear that's taking up closet space for your porters! Coats, fleece, socks, hats, rain gear, gloves, boots, literally anything! You will understand when you see them, they are incredible men and need your donations. 3. Tip the porters generously! Your tip is their income and they more than earn it. 4. Drink at least 3 liters of water a day on the climb, and bring Nuun flavor tablets for no other reason than you'll want to drink more if it tastes good. 5. Bring Diamox! 1 tablet with breakfast and 1 tablet with lunch (125mg). 6. Don't take your malaria medication on the mountain, it's not necessary and it messes with your stomach. 7. Eat when you're not hungry, you need the energy and the food is awesome. 8. Sunscreen is your friend, even if you tan well, the sun is brutal even on a overcast day. 9. Go with the flow and appreciate everything!

I had a great experience climbing Kilimanjaro, thanks to George and his amazing crew. The guides (Richard and Eli) and porters at Kilimanjaro Brothers were extremely kind, encouraging and helpful, and I cannot thank them enough for their support and generosity of spirit. Richard did a thorough “gear check” the evening before we started to ensure that we had everything we needed. Not only that, he generously gave me his trekking poles when one of mine malfunctioned.
The hike was exhilarating but difficult, and I could not have done it without the incredible assistance of our amazing guides and porters. Also, the food they served on the mountain was plentiful and delicious.
The memory of my Kilimanjaro trek will be in my heart forever, and I will never forget my wonderful friends at Kilimanjaro Brothers who helped me make it to the top. A huge "Asante sana" to all of them. They are simply amazing!

tldr: GO UP KILI WITH KILI BROTHERS

I cannot say enough about the quality of my experience up Kilimanjaro with this company. I did the eight-day Lemosho route in November, and I had an absolutely phenomenal trek. Round-trip transportation was arranged for me from the airport to Moshi and back, and George, the owner of the company, was waiting for me at my hotel when I arrived.

There are numerous things that makes Kili Brothers different from other companies.

Kili Brothers is owned by brothers who used to be porters and are also guides themselves. With these personal experiences, they create fair labor conditions for all porters and guides. Additionally, they pay all employees fair wages.

The mattresses and tents supplied are of high quality and cleanliness, as is the equipment available for rent.

The food used for cooking is fresh and high-quality—during longer treks, a second team of porters will meet the cooks to replenish dwindling fresh food stocks, keeping hikers well-fed the entire journey.

The porters are all incredibly kind and friendly, and they love chatting with the clients.

The guides are incredibly well-trained and experienced, and they are phenomenal at sensing the needs of their clients throughout the entire journey.

As a 21-year-old woman traveling in Africa by myself for the first time, safety was a paramount concern in finding my your company. The entire Kili Brothers team was cognizant of this fact and made sure I felt safe and secure at all times.

Thank you to George, my guides Abel and Richard, and the entire Kili Brothers team for making my Kili summit a trip I will never forget!

Reliable, fuss-free, excellent end-to-end service - delivered. If you are looking for the right company for Kilimanjaro or Tanzania, Kilimanjaro Brother is THE one! As a 2-girls travel group, we are beyond thankful to find Kilimanjaro Brothers, a local company that not only provide A-class top notch service, but for their kindness, experiences, hospitality, and very reasonable-fair pricing.

One team, one dream, all the way to the top! That’s the spirit of the Kilimanjaro Brothers (KB). We chose KB because we wanted to support a local company. We did 8 days Lemosho and 5 days Safari (Serengeti and Ngorongoro) in Aug 2022 – excellent weather! For those having a hard time choosing a route to climb Klimanjaro, Lemosho route is super scenic! It has a good acclimatization profile – hike high, sleep low. Highly recommend! Also, Aug is a good time for the migration at the Mara River, which we were extremely blessed to catch it!!!

Top 3 reasons why you should choose Kilimanjaro Brothers:

        1. Reliable, Safe and Experienced Crew
        - George and his crew are very experienced. They made us feel extremely safe travelling in Tanzania. Camping equipment provided are good quality and made our trip so comfortable and enjoyable. Our lead and assistant guides, Sanka and Acardi are extremely experienced and patient. Sanka checked our gears one-by-one prior to the climb to ensure we are well equipped. They paced us from Day 1 and advised us what to do/ wear every day to ensure successful summit. Listen to them! They even helped us with our bags on summit day. We couldn’t have done it without our guides and the crew.
        - Our safari guide, Elly, is the go-to guide for safari! He has more than 15 years of experience under his belt and is extremely knowledgeable about the animal kingdom. We learnt so much from Elly! Just challenge and give him your long list of requests, and he will try his best to hunt them for you ;P

        2. Excellent Service and Personalized Experience
        - One of the main reasons of us choosing KB is the personalized customer experience. George is very responsive and helpful. He advised and helped us plan/ customized our Kilimanjaro climb and Safari trip. As George was a guide and porter himself, he is a walking Tanzania google! If you have any doubt, feel free to ask him anything about travelling in Tanzania, from packing list, to vaccination, etc, and he will try his best to help you.
        - We had the best crew and service on the mountain, beyond our expectations! The crew always find the best spot to pitch our tents – best view, away from the main crowd (quieter). Chef Willy is an excellent cook and fed us very well, everyday! You get very balanced and delicious meals. Our butler, Ema is a fun chap. We learnt Swahili and the Jambo Kilimanjaro song along the way. The crew is a fun bunch. They made our camping experience super enjoyable!

        3. Affordable price point
        - Support the local community! KB is very transparent with their pricing and costs. They gave us a very affordable and fair quotation compared to other companies that we reached out to. In return, we received more than what we expected in terms of quality and service.

Once again, a million Asante-sana to George, Sanka, Acardi, Elly and the rest of the crew for making our dreams come true and to show us your beautiful country. Hands down, best decision ever to go with KB, no regrets! Wishing you all the best and hope our paths cross again in the future! :)

        Jul 2019 • Friends
I used Kilimanjaro Brothers for the 8-day Lemosho Trek of Mt. Kilimanjaro with two of my friends. What an incredible experience.

We originally decided on Kilimanjaro Brothers because of their positive reviews of TripAdvisor and because they were locally owned. For us, it was important to try and find a locally owned company and after meeting so many people involved with Kilimanjaro Brothers, it means even more now. George, the owner, is Tanzanian and was once a porter. Because the company is locally owned and owned by someone who spent so much time on the mountain, we got the sense that they were committed to sustainability and the ethical treatment of their porters/employees.

In addition, every detail of our trip was executed flawlessly from our pickup at the airport with Kibo, to our drop off at the airport after our climb, All unexpected situations out of the company's control were handled smoothly and efficiently. I honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Our guides, Justin and Robin, were knowledgeable, kind and helped ensure that we reached the summit safely and in good spirits. Their expertise added so much value to the experience and I am forever grateful.

The food was surprisingly enjoyable as well and we had fresh fruit the entire time on the mountain. Lastly, the porters were remarkable. This is a common theme on the mountain but we had so much fun speaking and joking with the porters and getting to know everyone.

I know Kilimanjaro Brothers does safaris too. We didn't go on safari so I can't speak to that from experience but I can safely assume given the way our climb went, that you would be in fantastic hands if you used them for that.

Kilimanjaro Brothers - you were great and thank you!

Thanks for support our Local Company, after working as a porter for many years, I decided to make it his priority to establish a company that would treat porters fairly and respectfully. As a former porter who has a longer experience on tourism, with this in mind we had to establish the demonstration company “ Kilimanjaro brothers” that will treat well our porters and guides, better care for our clients. We know how hard porters work to make your trips safe and enjoyable. With this in mind, we have made Kilimanjaro Brothers into a demonstration company, which takes care of its crew and allows other companies to learn best practices. Rather than depending on donation we have registered company class A, where any travel agent or clients can book directly to us. When you travel with us you directly support us. Travel now with confidence with Kilimanjaro Brothers on your favorite routes. We have wealth experienced guides with excellent understanding wildlife and migration ecosystem. We choose the right camps and lodges at right time of the year and you get the best experience possible. Kilimanjaro Brothers delivers the highest quality safety measures on Kilimanjaro. We take the following steps on your climb while you enjoy your adventure in Tanzania: 1. – We carry oxygen tanks on all our climbs. 2. – We carry a portable hyperbaric chamber (Gamow bag) on all our climbs and have a system in place for immediate evacuation off the mountain. 3. – We Using a pulse ox meter we will monitor your oxygen saturation and heart rate twice a day or more often if necessary. 4. – Every morning we listen to your lung sounds with a stethoscope to assess if there is any fluid on the lungs, a sign of HAPE. 5. – We will monitor your water intake to assure proper hydration. safety precaution on Kilimanjaro climb. 6. – Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). If AMS is not treated it can lead to more serious conditions like High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE) and/or High Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE) Each year a very small number of climbers die on Kilimanjaro. These deaths could be avoided if all licensed first aid guides who had high altitude medical training and carried oxygen and a portable hyperbaric bag. We travel with life saving equipment at all times when at high altitude. This equipment includes oxygen tanks, and a pressure bag, which are only used in the most life threatening altitude sickness cases. 7. – As part of our daily safety routine, we record and monitor various information pertaining to your body’s reaction to increasingly higher elevations. 8. – Our trips have been arranged to use daily climbing schedules and sleep to enhance your body’s acclimatization. 9. – Our meals emphasize carbohydrates and other foods that increase the generation of heat and energy as we move to higher altitudes. 10. – Moreover, we move slowly. with light exercises and celebrations at every camp to make your trip in the mountains enjoyable. Thanks ever so much for you time with us and we cant wait to welcome you again.

I joined a group trek organised by Kilimanjaro Brothers and the overall experience was very positive.

        Highlights:
        - The company representative (George) was very helpful with providing relevant information before my arrival. The hotel was also arranged for me before and after the trek.
        - I got my own (3-person) tent for no extra charge. It was really comfortable having the whole tent to myself. A thin foam mattress was also included.
        - The guide (Eli) seemed very experienced and took good care of the group. He proposed that we do the summit push a day earlier, but start at 3am, instead of the usual start at midnight. This was a great idea, as it was much warmer when walking up, and at the summit we were all by ourselves, without other groups! This also meant that on the summit day we didn’t have to make a big descent, but we just returned to the base camp. The remaining descent was done on the following day.
        - The food was quite tasty and varied, perhaps the breakfast porridge could be improved. The waiter service, e.g. having warm tea brought to the tent in the morning, was very welcomed as well.
        - On the last day we were caught in a massive rainfall. As we were quite close to the end, our guide arranged a car to pick us up, so we didn’t get fully soaked in the rain.
        - It was possible to pay by card.

        Lowlights:
        - I decided to rent a sleeping bag from the company, as the sleeping bag I own is a 3-season one, and for Kiliminajaro a 4-season one is strongly recommended. However, the sleeping bag I got had a comfort temperature rating of +10 degrees Celsius, which is definitely not suitable for sub-zero temperatures of Kilimanjaro (and was worse than the rating of my own sleeping bag). I only realised this when we were already on the mountain, but upon later complaint I was refunded the costs of renting the sleeping bag.
        - The hygienic conditions could be improved. We were given one small bowl of warm water in the morning and in the evening, and it was very difficult to do any personal hygiene with this amount of water. In the private toilet there was soap, but there wasn’t any water to use it with. After I requested it, the crew started putting a bowl of water next to the toilet, which was an improvement. However, it was quite difficult to use (the same bowl of water had to be used by multiple people for washing hands multiple times), so I think using a bucket with a small tap could be an improvement.
        - Before starting the trek I saw a lot of videos of porters singing local songs to motivate the hikers. That was missing in our group.

It’s great to know that you enjoyed your vocation with us with best possible experience from local Tanzania Company. We the expert of Kilimanjaro climb and our package include hand selected hotel, all ground transfer from arrival and departure, experienced porter and guiding service. We are full equipped with both mountain and safari gears, The Climbers will sleep in four-season mountain tents during the trek. Kilimanjaro Brothers uses the best tents and maintain them to the highest standards. Our tents are water proof from Mountain hardware and Eureka. Each Kilimanjaro trek is supplied by mess/ dinning tents, crew sleeping tent, portable toilets and client tents. All our tents are good for traveling in high altitude in all mountain season. We have note that mix of safari sleeping bag and on mountain facilities, but still this was possible to notify us the same days as we was able to replace on we have always new supply. Still every days on hike as well as after dinner you we always having evaluation of a day and brief for tomorrow, stuff like this can appear or conversation and report for immediately solution and no need to wait till you finish the trip. In Kilimanjaro there five principal which are Marangu, Rongai, Machame, Lemosho and Northern circuit. Marangu is the only route which there is hut and the remain route are camping. On these camping routes, there are little wooden toilet houses along the tracks as well as in the camps. They resemble outhouses, i.e. there is no toilet with a seat. Furthermore, there are no sinks with soap, running water or showers. However, one can receive bowls with warm water and soap, which are provided by your team if required. This way, at least a minimum level of personal hygiene is ensured. On these routes you sleep in a tent se the new improved toilets which are at each camp. Or use a private toilet carried up by our porters? Usually people prefer us to carry up a private toilet and Kilimanjaro Brothers is providing for you. For this there is a cost to cover the toilet attendant, who carries, pitches, cleans and empties the loo. It’s covered in our trip fee. We provide private toilet on Kilimanjaro, well it’s clean, it’s doesn’t smell, it’s private but they are small and if windy a bit awkward as they’re inside little toilet tents. They are made from plastic; they have a seat, a flush mechanism and a sliding door which opens for your business to drop down into a container which the attendant empties. Tents provide welcome privacy. Portable pump-flush toilets are Eco-friendly and sanitary. Hand sanitizer provided to keep you healthy. Walk-in height tents are clean and comfortable. They’re cleaned regularly, they’re big, private and don’t have drafts. The floors and walls are tiled and they offer both western style toilets (sit down) and a traditional hole in the ground. They’re not pristine if the campsites are busy but they really are very good. On our traditional trek we use to sing and dancing together with clients, but after COVID epidemic the Kilimanjaro National park in cooperation with the government heath sector introduce a new regulation of Keeping distance and the prohibited that dancer for Safety reason

So glad that we chose 'Kilimanjaro Brothers' for our trip. If we do another route we will not look at any other Company. The Guides Justin and Eli were highly competent, calm, experienced and safe and along with the 10 amazing porters were the reason we managed to summit Uhuru. For myself (60) and my wife (51) we wanted to ensure that if we were going to attempt Kilimanjaro we did it with an experienced reputable local Company that treat their staff well and we wanted to ensure that we managed to have sufficient days to acclimate. 8 day Lemosho is the route with the highest success rate, and is the most beautiful and scenic route. In the Office Kelvin responded to all my emails very quickly and efficiently and answered all our questions. He was very professional. We stayed in the Parkview Inn in Moshi which was perfect. (organised by Kili Bros)
Dont even consider not taking/paying for your own toilet. It is a must and worth far more than the extra $s you pay. You will understand this at 3am in the morning when you are in camp at 4,600m, -5 degrees outside and need to use the toilet! Apart from summit night we found day 4 quite hard when we had our first excursion upto 4,600m at Lava tower.
        Some top tips:
        1. Pay for your own toilet
2.Drink 4-5 litres of water per day to avoid/minimise headaches and nausea at high altitude
3.Make sure you always wash your hands on the mountain and are careful with hygiene
        4. Walk pole, pole at all times. Save your energy. It is not a race there are no prizes for first place.
5.Listen and act on the Guides advice. They have been up to Uhuru hundreds of times.
6.Go with an open heart and mind and respect the lovely Tanzanian people and of course the Mountain, it is nearly 6,000m!
7.Be generous with your tipping at the end of the Trek make sure you have sufficient $ up the mountain with you.
        8. Leave all the equipment and clothing that you can for the porters ie plan to take extra items that you can leave. You will marvel and respect the porters when you see the work that they do.
        9. Enjoy every minute, it will be the experience of a lifetime.
        10. Take some sugary snacks for the Trek
11.Bring some light trainers for the Camps at night

We had an amazing experience. Use Kilimanjaro Brothers, you will not be disappointed.

My husband and I did the Kilimanjaro Brothers 8-day Lemosho hike (with summit on full moon night) up Mt. Kilimanjaro last month (Oct 08-15), followed by a 3 day safari to Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Lake Manyara. Based on Google and TripAvisor reviews, we selected Kilimanjaro Brothers (a local tour company in Moshi) as our tour operators. We were thoroughly impressed by their high-quality, professional and personalized service.
Their sales and marketing team was always available on web chat, phone & WhatsApp to answer all our queries. They provided us with a detailed itinerary. We were given valuable advice on what to carry along and on what to rent locally and even on how to train and be physically ready for the trek.
When we arrived there, we received a warm welcome from Mdoe at the airport. Our hotel accommodation at Panama Garden Resort was quiet and comfortable. Here, we met our main guide Abel Wanjara, who after exchanging pleasantries, went through our trekking gear to ensure we were well equipped for our trek.
Our trekking team consisted of 12 members: two guides (Abel and Simon), a cook (Edward), a waiter (Paul) and eight porters. All of them were congenial, courteous and thoroughly professional. They were always there to assist and motivate us (with their merry songs and cheers). Upon arriving at each campsite, we would find our tent (with a cozy dining room and a bedroom) and portable flush toilet ready for us (Mtaki was in-charge of the toilet and we cannot thank him enough!). Edward ensured that we were well fed and dished out some great vegetarian food for us (as was our requirement). We always had fresh, hot meals that included (but not limited to) some amazing porridges, vegetable soups, pasta, fried rice, noodles and plenty of fresh fruits. Paul was mild-mannered and friendly. He was punctual with his wakeup calls and was ready with our hot basins of water whenever we needed them. He brought us all our meals on time and ensured that we had enough to eat and drink both at the camps and on our treks.
Abel came with valuable experience and relevant knowledge, having summited more than a 100 times. He would meticulously advise us on how to dress each day and on what to carry along in our day packs. Simon (our assistant guide) emphasized on the importance of a positive attitude and gave us many useful tips on how to push through to the top. He was also full of interesting facts on the flora and fauna of Kilimanjaro. We were a merry group of 4 and had many delightful conversations on a variety of topics such as politics, literature, biology, local cultures, Swahili, etc. Every evening after dinner, Abel and Simon would check our oxygen levels and heart rates to evaluate how we were adapting to rising altitude. We would talk about the day’s trek and get a briefing on what to expect the next day. Simon would set a comfortable pace for the treks every day. One guide always walked at the back to check on our movements and breathing to monitor our fitness through the treks.
I would like to highlight some of the altruistic acts of our team members. There were times when I was exhausted and Abel cheerfully offered to carry my day pack along with his stuff. On summit night, Daniel (one of our porters) was up and helped us with our final layers and also wished us luck (while he could have been happily asleep in his warm tent). Near Stella Point, when my hands got really cold, Abel sacrificed his hand warming gel sachets for me. The guides had thoughtfully carried along hot ginger tea in a thermos that provided a fresh burst of energy after a grueling 6 hour hike. Simon boldly went barehanded at Uhuru peak (where it was below -15C) to take photos on our camera. Abel and Simon simultaneously assisted me with walking while descending to base camp, as I had a painful toe injury. We had the most memorable Kilimanjaro experience and it was possible because of each and every one in our team!! Upon returning to the hotel (this time we stayed in Park View Hotel, which is centrally located), we had a mini celebration with our team members and Mdoe after which, we bid farewell to our team that had become our family for the past 8 days.
We had a pleasant safari experience as well. Davis, our driving guide, had a keen eye for spotting animals during the game drives. We travelled in a spacious & well-equipped LandCruiser (for just the two of us). Our hotel accommodation at Karatu town was beautiful, luxurious and comfortable.
Asante Sana Kili Brothers for everything!!!!!....until next time….!!

My partner and I did the lemosho route 8 days with Kili Brothers in October 2019. We both had an amazing and unforgettable experience with them. The organisation was perfect, we did not have to worry about any details, they planned everything for us, from the moment we arrived at the airport to the moment to leave for our next adventure in Tanzania. Our guide Abel and assistant guide Simon were great, very professional and kind. They gave us good advice and explanations. They encouraged us when things got harder and were always there to help. They encouraged us to walk at our own pace and take breaks whenever we needed. They took care of us when we got sick from altitude. My partner had to go down the mountain on day 6 because of altitude sickness, while I was able to make it to summit. We really felt in good hands with them and our health was #1 priority. Our waiter Daniel was always smiling and took such good care of us! Our chef Masawe was very good and food was always great! You will never miss any food, we probably even had too much (we lost appetite due to altitude sickness). All our team of porters was also great, always smiling despite the extremely hard work they do every day for us. Their songs gave us courage when needed. Kili brothers includes a portable private flush toilet, which we enjoyed so much, especially when you compare to the horrible toilets at the camps! We highly recommend Kilimanjaro Brothers to anyone who wants to climb this mountain, you will not regret it! Asante sana, one team one dream!

Kilimanjaro Brothers is a local Company and that is one of the reasons we chose them, in order to support a local Company. They are very serious in the pre-booking and we managed to book several tours that were linked.

Our first tour was safari in Serengeti and Nghoronghoro crater. Our driver was Sharif, he picked us up at the border from Kenya and drove us to Serengeti. It was an Amazing 3 Days with Sharif, doing safari from North Serengeti to central and then the crater. We saw the big five and lived at Amazing lodges already prebooked with Kilimanjaro Brothers. Sharif also took us to a masai village (I would skip that, it is a rip off). He was a very good driver and guide and we had superfun with him in the car!

Then the last day he drow us to Moshi, to our hotel were we met our guide for our Kilimanjaro tour (also booked with Kilimanjaro Brothers). The only thing we felt here was that we are hikers from Scandinavia and we were already equioed with warm clothes, so they sold us over a 100 dollars of rental, most of we needed but the thermal pants and the extra fleese I never used. However the rest of the trip, was Amazing. Beautiful scenary, Amazing chef, Amazing porters. We had several accidents on the way that was handled professionally by everyone who walked with us.

They made us come up on the top, which was a huge success. Unfortunately the last day we got an infection of the water, so all four of us, got a stomach flu that led to antibiotic treatment and 1 week of sickness. Even though they give you water from the glacier, our stomachs are not as used to theirs, bring some water purifing pills for yourselves. Us getting the stomach bug was bad luck, no ones fault on the tour.

They also helped with transports when we got back to the hotel and to the Airport and were super helpful and friendly.

Also a fair price to climb the mountain. I highly recommend them!!
