In September 2024 we successfully ascended to Uhuru Peak, the summit of Kilimanjaro with guide Omery and Said. I appreciate the work that went into planning this successful trip done by Jackson our contact in Tanzania. He also doubles up as the manager of the local operator. He was easy to talk to and quickly understood what we were looking for, and planned our itinerary around it. He assigned a professional and able crew to support our effort and they did very well. They ensure that we were safe at all times, we had excellent food that was prepared by Priva our amazing cook. His meals are really delicious. He made sure that the portions were plentiful and balanced. We were provided with a good comfortable all weather tent, clean snugly sleeping bags and the other equipment was in excellent condition. We enjoyed the whole trip and when we finally reached the summit we were over the moon with joy. Kindly note that the course is tough and requires mental and physical strength, this coupled with a good crew behind you to ensure that you are safe, healthy and welfare is looked after. Thank you all for being there for us as we created wonderful memories in Africa.

This was our second trip with Maua Adventures for a 4 day safari in Serengeti and Ngorongoro. This time, we chose an intermediate formula for us (need for an electrical connection) and economical for our children. Once again, it was an unforgettable experience with our favourite driver. In preparation for a climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro by myself, I wanted to give my wife and 9-year old daughter a taste of the Kilimanjaro trek. With Maua Adventures I was able to arrange a perfect 3-day trek. I was amazed at the Maua team’s ability to customize a trip for my family with short advance notice. I have long wanted to climb Kili, but I thought of including my family in the adventure spontaneously, weeks before my climb. (I may have been lucky; I don’t recommend waiting until the last minute to schedule a custom trek!) My daughter says, “they had good food" and "it was fun climbing it, I liked going up and down, even though it was mostly up. They let us take breaks.” Our guide “Fred” (Wilfred) was well-informed on every aspect of the Kilimanjaro climb. Our crew of 4 porters and one chef was friendly, energetic, and professional. On the hike we talked with our guide about many subjects: the plants, the environment, the geology, and the Swahili language. I found the price very reasonable for a custom trek. In fact what distinguishes Maua Adventures is that it is locally owned. If you trek with the other big firms, the price will be higher and much of your money will go to a booking agent in Europe, Canada, or USA. I like my money to go to the folks who actually provide the service. Our family trek started at the Lemosho Gate. We hiked through the forest to the Mti Kubwa (Big Trees) campsite the first day. On the mountain there are only latrines—pit toilets—that my wife and daughter found very unpleasant.( You can ask Maua to tote along a porta-potty, but this may require an extra porter and thus additional expense.) The next day we hiked up out of the forest onto moorland which exposed fabulous views. We hiked onto the Shira plateau where we caught our first glimpses of the volcanic come of Kilimanjaro. It was breathtaking as the clouds burned off in late afternoon, revealing this largest of free-standing mountains. Inspired, my daughter resolved to climb to the top someday. We camped on the Shira Plateau overnite, and had an easy 2-hour hike out in the morning to the Shira Gate, our pick up point. We had a great time and this certainly proved the point that you don’t have to climb to the summit to enjoy a Kilimanjaro experience with your family. After dropping my family at the airport to head back to USA for my daughter to start school, I prepared to climb to Kiki’s summit, which I review separately.

We had an amazing experience on Kilimanjaro and later on safari with guides Omary and Prince leading an incredible team of porters, cook and waiter. The team worked perfectly and supported our endeavor to summit in earnest. The food on the hike was surprising good. Cook Priva prepared the all the meals from scratch and actually made sure we had balanced meals. We all ate to our fill as the protions were generous. I appreciate the support from the crew a lot. They helped us reach the summit with the best service and support. The safari was awesome. We visited three amazing parks - Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Serengeti. We had Mutey as our guide and he is an amazing fellow. So knowledgeable, fun and witty. We never had a dull a moment and enjoyed every day to the fullest. I fully endorse this company for both Kilimanjaro and Safari

Planning our trek with Jackson was easy and we got to learn so much about Kilimanjaro even before we arrived in Tanzania. When we arrived we found everything to be actually better than it had been described in the itinerary. We found the hike to be very fulfilling, tougher than we had anticipated but very rewarding. I have to mention our crew because they were excellent. Their unwavering support is the reason we reached the summit safely and in pretty good shape. We had all the required gear/equipment in the best condition, enough food, water and other necessary supplies. Thank you all for making our trip a great success.

It has taken us six months to plan this trip to Tanzania with my husband. We had to postpone twice because of work related emergencies. Jackson was flexible and graciously accommodated our changes. We booked the 8 day Machame route and have made memories of a lifetime. We had guides Paul and Marko with us. This was our first trip to Africa and were treated like royalty. The service levels by the crew was exceptionally high. No effort was spared in making us comfortable and succeed on our summit challenge. The food was excellent. Our cook Priva prepared excellent dishes which were a unifying point for the climbing party. Our tent was excellent, waterproof and we had comfy sleeping bags. The trek pushed us to our limits and almost gave up were it not for the encouragement from Paul and Marko. They helped us overcome our fears and kept us going. We made it to Uhuru Peak and I have never been so happy. I highly recommend Maua Adventures for excellent service.

We had an epic experience in Tanzania, trekking up Kilimanjaro up the Lemosho route. I would recommend the route as it has the best summit success rate and we enjoyed very spectacular views from the trail. The guides and porters were professional, friendly and well experienced on taking climbers to the summit. They took excellent care of us, and we remained comfortable, well nourished and in good health. We learnt a so much from the crew. Swahili, local songs...... and it was fun to be with this crew. Reaching the summit was not easy, it was particularly tough on the summit night when we had to go in the dark and cold. We both made it to the summit and we owe it to the crew. Jackson and Makariot made our recent safari trip to Tanzania special. We had worked with Jackson to put together a private safari for my boyfriend and I plus two of our best friends. He had come up with an amazing itinerary to visit Tarnagire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro crater then finish off with a day trek on Kilimanjaro. Makariot is an incredible guide, he helped us get to see all the animals in our wishlist. I was happy that we went with camps and lodges that Jackson's suggested because they were all fantastic. Our 5 day trip with Maua Adventures was fantastic. This was a tailor-made trip in cooperation with Jackson who made sure that all would go smoothly. Our flight to Kilimanjaro was cancelled last minute and the whole itinerary had do be moved back 2 days. This was extra work for Jackson that solved everything. Maua Adventures is a small company and this makes a difference. Most companies follow the main roads when going between places of interest but Jackson and our excellent driver/guide Magoma took us on the backroads in the middle of nowhere where we were able to enjoy wildlife and natural beauty without seeing other tourist. The highlight of our trip was the climb of Ol Doinyo Lengai and visit to Lake Natron. If you want a good climb of Kilimanjaro or a tailor-made trip in Northern Tanzania then Maua Adventures is the perfect option. Highly recommended.

I came across Maua Adventures by accident at the Kilimanjaro Airport. It gained my trust and provided great service with moderate reasonable price. I'd recommend it to anybody.

My wife and I had a great time with Jackson and his team the guide and porters ware very friend and helpful. We have booked the 7 days route for good acclimatization but we managed to climb to the summit with in 4 days we did not have any bad altitude sickness just a bit of headache.
