The 8 day Lemosho variation is the ideal schedule for this route. On the 8 day Lemosho route, the trek from Barranco to Barafu is broken up into two days, allowing for a short day just prior to the summit attempt. This is important because summit day begins very early, around midnight, so climbers are sleep deprived going into the toughest day on the mountain. By having a short day beforehand, climbers can be better rested.

After many investigative hours on Tripadvisor, I decided to go with ClimbKili tour company to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro because of all the positive reviews. I'm happy to report that all the wonderful reviews were correct. We stayed at the Summit Lodge in Arusha. It was nice and clean with hot water showers. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. There is a little restaurant there at the lodge where we ate all our meals. We had one relax day before we started our trek, so we hired one of the cars ($20) to take us into town to do some shopping at the Massai market and the Cultural Center. Great spots for souvenir and tanzanite shopping.

The day before the trek we met our lead guide Seraphine. He turned out to be wonderful! He and his staff took care of our every need no matter how small or big. We had 3 porters for every climber, three guides, a chef, and a waiter. There were both men and woman in our group
