Amazing camping experience at Mount Kabuje
We booked a hike up including camping at Mount Kabuye with Beyond the Gorilla Experience, and it exceeded our expectations! The trip was incredibly well-organized, and the team was fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The food provided was delicious, adding an extra touch to the adventure. The tent setup was comfortable, and the bonfire experience at the top of the mountain was unforgettable. We truly enjoyed every moment and highly recommend this adventure to anyone seeking a unique and memorable experience out of Kigali!

Amazing location, phenomenal family, great experience
My homestay was a phenomenal experience. The family I stayed with were absolutely amazing. Their kindness and generosity is unmatched and I felt very welcomed. I truly enjoyed every moment of the visit and learned so much about the area. The other activities in the area the next day such as the visit to the lake, the city tour, the archery on the private island, and the visit to the gorilla naming statues were also fantastic. The vehicle used was clean and spacious and I would recommend the activity.

Camping in Volcanoes National Park - A fantastic return experience!
Theo, Gerard, and the Beyond the Gorillas Experience team did an excellent job organising a another camping trip for my colleagues and me in Volcanoes National Park. The camp was comfortable, the equipment was great, and the food was delicious. They set up everything with great respect for the forest, minimising any disturbance. Thank you for a wonderful trip!

A slice of a different life
With our guide Vincent we toured Lake Ruhondo by boat and it was magical. We were able to trek across two islands and meet islanders who live with so little but were so happy and very welcoming. We also tried archery and spear throwing on the company’s private island. Vincent was a fantastic guide and shared so much knowledge, he was born on one of the islands so there is no one better to tell you how the locals live. We thoroughly recommend this tour and Vincent 😊

      A Novel Experience in Rwanda
My husband and I came to Rwanda to see a bit of Kigali and to do two gorilla treks. Our guide surprised us with a boat excursion arranged through Beyond the Gorillas. After driving to the Twin Lakes area, we boarded a boat for what we imagined would be a sunset cruise and sundowner. We were utterly delighted to visit an island inhabited by just 29 families, whose small homes and farms dotted the island. We were warmly welcomed by the dancing and music of the village women and then hiked around the island, learning about the families and their somewhat isolated lives. After a very satisfying visit, we went by boat to another nearby island to relax, enjoy drinks and snacks and a beautiful sunset. Lovely, unexpected experience.

      Fabulous two days.
Had two fabulous days with Esther who met me at my hotel and organised for me to trek to Dian Fossey’s grave site and a half day walk around the fields towards Besoke. It was truly magical. I thought being solo it would be hard to organise, especially at such short notice. Esther speaks beautiful English and I really enjoyed her company. Very professional. She also organised my transport back to Kigali.

      Scenic Walk Around Volcanoes
Theodore, Esther and Beyond the Gorillas Experience team went above and beyond regard the scenic walk day tour around the volcanoes. I had an amazing time. I’m solo travel visiting Rwanda for the first time. My hotel was in Kigali and since I wanted more of the experience, I planned to take the 3hr bus ride from Kigali bus station to Musanze bus station, then I would mostly likely transfer to a private car to the tour meet point. Theodore gracefully arranged the trip to the meet point and back to the hotel. I was first collected at the Kigali hotel to the bus station placed on the bus to Musanze and picked up by Esther. The hike, landscape and views of the volcanoes including the Bisoke volcano were amazing. Esther provided insights regarding plant and animal life. We were fortunate to see the golden monkeys outside the park. Our interactions with the locals were brief but wonderful. Lunch at the camp was exceptional. Many thanks again to Theodore, Esther and the team.

Going beyond! The best of Rwanda🇷🇼❤️
I am traveling solo here in Rwanda and I am so happy to have Esther and Theo of Beyond Gorillas organize some events for me. They really go beyond! Esther met w me, got to know me and what I’m interested in. She was great company w me at Bisoke and explained everything - what to bring, what to do and most importantly to go at my own pace and enjoy the nature! They also organized four days of experience where I stayed at really beautiful places, had an excellent driver and visited natl park (canopy walk!!), and museums on my way back to Kigali. From these experiences I am convinced to come back to Rwanda. Thank you Esther and Theo for showing me the best of Rwanda and making me feel comfortable and welcome.🙏🇷🇼❤️

      Amazing Mt Karisimbi Hike
I hiked Mt Karisimbi with Beyond the Gorillas - who organized everything really smoothly. They handled all the permit application process efficiently, had gear rental well prepared in advance, and arranged a good number of Porters to support. The gear they used was top notch for the weather. The food was really delicious too. Their price was the best on the market. Would definitely go with them again

Mt Kabuye is one of the best weekend trips from Kigali
The whole trip at Mt Kabuye was perfectly organized and we absolutely loved it. I would recommend doing it in two days which is what we did. Not because it so tough, but so you have more time and an overnight stay at the beautiful campground on top of the mountain. It's 3 hours up and 2 hours down. Not very hard, but extremely slippery downhill after the rain. Everything is taken care for... Guide, porters, snacks, water, food and drinks at the top, tent, sleeping bags etc. It's beautiful up there with some of best views in Rwanda.

      Great hike up Mount Kabuye
Recently I hiked Mt Kabuye for the second time, as I wanted to show the beauty of this lovely mountain to a friend visiting Rwanda. I chose Beyond Gorillas Experience again, as they are very well organised, reliable and not expensive. And they do help the communities in the area you are trekking through. You pass by villages, a local school and you discover real rural life, which is what you won't see in a national park. The hike is about 3 hours up and 2 hours down and can be slippery, so should not be underestimated. The most amazing thing is that once you reach the summit, a delicious 3- course warm lunch is waiting for you, prepared by a passionate cook. Camping on the summit is also possible. If you have 2 days, you could hike all the way down to Lake Ruhondo on day two. Mt Kabuye is said to be the third highest non-volcanic peak in the land of the thousand hills. Altitude gain is about 1100 meters. I was very lucky that on this Kabuye hike Esther was again on my side, one of my all time favourite nature guides in Africa. She can tell you everything about the nature and culture of the region and is very helpful and friendly. Her smile will bring you to the summit. Enjoy.

Utmost flexibility on this 'value for price' Northern Coast Tour
We were extremely pleased with the tour we did, as we saw so many things in one day: Arabuko Sokoke forest, the impressive Gedi ruins and Mida Creek. The extremely hot weather required some flexibility, which was effortlessly granted to us. Another stop at a beach resort made us escape the heat and recover. Eddi Mors Tours quickly and accurately responded, provided clear information and checked our satisfaction. Very highly recommended!
