About the operator

- georginak5700 contributionsFun and informative dayI really enjoyed my tour & snorkel with Hamala — he was very very personable and knowledgeable. He is obviously passionate about teaching guests about Tonga — its roses and its thorns. I felt like I understood the island much better after our day together. He was flexible with the tour schedule, took some lovely photos, had a variety of yummy snacks, and even recommended and dropped me off at a delicious restaurant at the end of the day.Written September 25, 2024
- Journey239837091570 contributionsGreat tour and guideMy day with Hamala was amazing. He is such a great person with lot of knowledge about Tonga and it's history. He also really made my day in Tonga memorable as we had so much fun during seeing this beautiful island. I really recommend his services to everyone visiting Tonga. 😊Written September 20, 2024
- Sightseer005311274210 contributionsSuch a snorkeling tour!!I did a snorkeling tour with Hamala in November and I couldn't recommend it more! Such a nice service, both he and his wife are super nice people and I felt safe all the time with them. She took really good care of my belongings and us while we were inside the water. Hamala swam all the time next to me, making sure that I was feeling good and safe and pointed to everything of interest. The coral reef was also perfectly conserved. As he said "like Christmas inside the water". Really interesting to talk with them as well. I like them so much that I asked them to take me to the airport the next day.Written January 10, 2024

- Annette R0 contributionsThe best tour with Hamala! When in Tongatapu, definitely book a tour with Hamala. He was so friendly, interesting and informative with a passion for his homeland. His tour offered us insights into attractions, the nation, and its people. Thankyou for doing this tour for us on a Sunday , which is traditionally church, eat, rest and family day for the Tongan people. We booked transfers with Hamala to and from the airport, which was excellent.Written August 28, 2023
- alavinil0 contributionsBest tour on island!Amazing, knowledgeable with insight and heart. Our full island tour covered the whole island with sites that I never knew existed. We saw historical monuments, natural wonders and experienced the local vibes. My favorite stops, tsunami rock, raised tombs, and the land bridge.Written July 15, 2023
- ethanbC2168PI0 contributionsEverything I could've asked for (literally)I visited Tonga for a week on a business trip. I wanted to experience the island while I was there, which is why I took the full island tour, and I couldn't have asked for more. We covered every famous landmark on Tongatapu, plus a snorkeling trip to one of the most beautiful reefs I've seen (If you're an aquarium enthusiast, you'll love the water in Tonga). I also used Hamala Tonga Tours to help me coordinate my business needs, which involved speaking to people about the 2022 volcanic eruption and tsunami. Hamala was very enthusiastic about this custom request and took me to survey the most severe damage; helped connect me with the right people; and helped me translate the Tongan language when needed. His attention to detail — and to my requests — made that custom part of the tour even more memorable than the more traditional one. He's the ideal guide to Tonga — especially for folks visiting from the U.S., given that he was raised in Utah.Written January 20, 2023
- Anna K0 contributionsHighly recommended guide - wonderful time in TongatapuWhen you are about to land in Tongatapu you can see a seemingly not very interesting landscape: just a flat island, covered by small fields and coconut trees. Uncovering hidden beauty may take some time and effort but Hamala is here to help. I spent a day with him touring Tongatapu and was rewarded with amazing views of blowholes, waves crushing over the cliffs and...three headed coconut tree! I also learned a lot about the island and the country (thank you for answering all my questions), ate yummy local food that Hamala recommended and had tons of fun as he is a delightful travel companion. Thank you Hamala for wonderful time!Written November 10, 2022
- 64divingb0 contributionsBrilliant tourWe had an amazing day with Hamala Tonga Tours during our honeymoon in November. The tour itself was a great mix of Tongan history and culture, and stunning natural landmarks. And because the tour sizes are so small the trip can be tailored to exactly what you're after. The mini bus is clean and very comfortable, and the guide so knowledgeable and chatty. He even gave us recommendations for dinner that night.Written March 17, 2020
