Thumps up
Jul 2019
We traveled to Margarita Island for a 6 nights all inclusive stay. It was our first time here, despite hearing alot of negative remarks about margarita we decided to see for ourselves, and we are so glad we did. It was all great.
On arrival at the airport we were greeted and check in / out was fast and easy.
Food was great + the pool bar. The pool was huge and the ground and landscaping is beautiful. Don't worry if you can't speak Spanish some of the staff speak a bit of English as well.
The entertainment staff down by the pool thanks for a really fun time.
There is really nothing negative about this tour. Big thumbs up.

Excellent Tour Again!
Mar 2013 • Friends
We met Marcos in 2005 while staying at the Hesperia. He was just starting out and gave us a wonderful tour of Margarita. We contacted him again this year and he gave the same personable service as before. This time his friend Ramone was the driver and guide. We had another wonderful tour of the island with new stops: Basílica de la Virgen del Valle, Fortin de la Galera in Juan Griego and an off road adventure to a secluded beach with a little shell beach shop out in the middle of nowhere. Marcos also gave us a great deal on exchange. I recommend contacting him for a jeep tour but he will also accommodate a personal tour to couples. He is quick to respond to email inquiries marcostours@yahoo.com and he can be reached through his website that highlights other tours he has available www.marcostours.com. The jeep tour is the best way to see all of Margarita in a day. Lunch and beverages included as well as entrance to Laguna de la Restinga, a must do on Margarita.

Marcos Tours is the way to go, trustworthy, dependable, honest and a great value!
Jan 2013 • Solo
There are many tours and many tourguides available in Margarita. You can book a tour through anyone anywhere and it is very easy to do so. I personally chose a guy I met on trip advisor named Marcos Ochos and I highly recommend him!! He is not the same Marcos that works through Nolitours at the hotel but works for himself and is on the beach everyday in his marcos tours shirt. He can also be emailed directly at marcostours@yahoo.com. Personally, if you can trust someone other than the hotel moneymakers, this is the best local I found to do so. I booked a tour with him to go to angel falls for a day. Marcos drives you to the airport and you take an 18 seater plane over angel falls, land in Canaima park, hike in the jungle through 2 other waterfalls, have lunch and return. I paid Marcos upon arrival and the day before the tour, as I was warned it may be, the trip was cancelled due to a faulty plane. Marcos had someone at the beach find me with a cell phone so he could tell me the news in adnvance and then met me the next day to return my payment with huge apologies, even though he warned me this could happen. I had emailed Marcos before arriving in Margarita and he helped me with many things and was always very courteous, polite, prompt and professional!!

In leui of the angel falls trip, I booked a jeep tour that everyone I’d met had gone on and was all the rave and was not disappointed in any way. The jeep tour is a great value and if you are only doing one excursion this is probably the best one to do. It is all day and you see many parts of the island and for the money it is a really good deal! I left around 8am and didn’t return to the hotel until around 5pm. My guide, Marcello was very knowledgeable and spoke English enough to help me understand where we were going and what we were seeing. He even stopped upon request for me to take some scenic photos and took them himself for me out his window a few times when my view was obstructed. Marcello went above and beyond for me on this tour and I know that anyone Marcos sets you up with for the day will be a great asset to your adventure.

I also booked a trip to Cubagua island through Marcos and was not disappointed. The tour involves a shuttle to the marina which was clean and comfortable. Then you get on a catamaran and travel by sea to the island. You are given beverages on the catamaran as well as a snack, homemade empanadas!! They were delicious! Once you arrive on the island, they set up a bar and chairs for everyone under some shade, there is a tour through some trails where you can learn about the vegetation and the history of the island and are shown many breathtaking views. After a swim they serve you a delicious lunch, accompanied by more beverages and then you take a small walk to a lagoon that holds magical mud. You are instructed how to apply the mud and helped to do so, then told to sit in the sun for 15 minutes to let the mud dry and bake into your skin. Once this is complete you can swim on the ocean and remove the mud and your skin feels amazing! It’s like you’ve been at a spa all day long receiving priceless ointments and lotions!! Back on the boat you can have more beverages and a wonderful view of the mainland on your return trip to the marina. The bus picked us up promptly upon arrival to the marina and we were taken back to our resort. It was a great day and the best rate I received once again was through Marcos, of Marcos tours. Many people I spoke to while at the Dunes, booked many tours with other people and they advised me they were on Margarita time and that the tours with the other companies cost more than the ones I booked with Marcos and they did not get as much. If you have any questions about any of the tours or how to find Marcos or need further information to find him trustworthy, please do not hesitate to contact me, or him. After a few short emails you will see why he is the best at what he does and that he can be trusted with your adventures while visiting Margarita Island!!

A must if you visit Margarita
Jan 2013 • Couples
We had the chance to meet Marcos on our trip to Margarita Island in January 2013. What a great guy! He is honest, friendly, punctual, thrustworthy. We used Marcos to organize a snorkeling excursion which was fantastic. He drove us to the location and picked us up at the end of the day. He also organized an excursion to Coche Island, again he drove us there and picked us up. It ws a fun day too. We also had the chance to spend a whole day with him for a tour of the island. He took us all over the place, found a lovely spot for us to have a delicious lunch. He is very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the island, the people etc. He is offering the best prices and offers a personnalized service. I would highly recommend hooking up with him while down there.

One of the best experiences we had with island tours
Feb 2012 • Friends
We stayed at The Dunes from Feb 17th to 24th, 2012. We were a group of 10 (all in their 40s and 50s) and we were looking for some tours in order to visit the surroundings. We didn't know about Marcos, but we met him on the beach and he took the time to explain us the different options. We found he didn't have the usual ''sales pitch', but he was rather honest, so we decided to book with him.
And I'm happy to admit we did the right choice! We booked 2 tours:
1) first one, the Island tour. Since we were 10 people, Marcos came up with a 12-seats minibus and he personally came with us as a guide (as a fact, the price we paid was lower than the one provided by our travel agency). For sure, he knows very well the island, so we spent an excellent day going through a mangrove laguna, visiting historical sites and laying down for almost 2 hours on a beautiful beach on the south side of the island (the water here is clear and calm compared to the north side where The Dunes is situated and were the water is colder and with huge waves). We were lucky enough to have the trip booked on the last day of the carnival, so Marcos agreed to extend our trip and bring us (for no extra fees!) to Juan Griego (a small town close to our hotel) where we enjoyed an excellent view of the carnival. Thank you Marcos!
And by the way, we were extremelly impressed by the punctuality. We already visited Dominican Republic, Cuba, Mexico and we booked several trips, but they were always a few minutes late. Marcos was always on time, actually waiting for us (and we were on time) and we really liked it.
2) Next day, we were on a catamaran trip to Cubagua Island. Trip is also a trip well worthing, but keep in mind, there is only one company providing the catamaran trip, so Marcos is only a travel agent in this case, so he's not really responsible for any inconveniences you may have. But we choose Marcos because again he provided the advice we needed and in top of that, the best price! Hard to beat...
For sure we'll go back to the Island! And we'll look for Marcos for new trips...

Fantastic trip to Canaima and Salto Angel
Feb 2012
On my previous trip to Margarita we didn't have enough time to take any tours off the resort. However I was determined to go to Angel Falls on this trip so I did my research prior to arriving and Marcos Tours had good reviews on Trip Advisor. On my first day at Dunes Resort I found Marcos on the beach and asked him to arrange a day trip to Angel Falls for one of the following 2 days. Although it was short notice within 20 minutes we had paid and were booked for the last 2 seats on the Canaima/Angel Falls day trip for the next day. Marcos advised us on what we should wear and bring for the trip so that we would have the best experience.

On trip day Marcos picked us up at 7AM. Because the resort restaurant doesn't open before 7AM Marcos has previously advised us that we could let Dunes know that we would need a take-away breakfast. Thanks for the tip Marcos!

During the drive to the airport Marcos gave us a mini tour and history of the areas we were passing. Upon arrival at the airport he arranged our boarding passes and departure tax.

The trip itself started at 8:30AM on a 18 seater plane. We had great scenery as we flew over the Orinoco and across Venezuela to the south. We had one short stopover to pick up some passengers who had overnighted at the Orinoco so we arrived at Canaima around 11AM. The local tour guide Mr. Chung met us upon arrival and guided us to the camp site. There was a snack available while we changed into our swimsuits and secured our bags. Then we made our way via boat past Salto Wadaima to Salto Hacha.

The hike behind Salto Hacha was one of the best experiences of my life. You could actually feel the power of the waterfall! You will get totally drenched so it's advisable to bring a change of clothes for the trip back. Next we stopped at Laguna de Canaima for some time on beach. After 30 minutes we walked a short distance back to the camp site for lunch. I think it was the best meal I've had on the island so far!

After lunch we had some time for souvenir shopping then it was back on the plane to Angel Falls. My only complaint is that the plane was moving too fast when we got to the falls. Not sure if/why it was necessary to go that fast but it was difficult at times to take as many pictures are I wanted to. Angel Falls truly is beautiful though and I was glad that I got a chance to see it.

We returned to Margarita at 4:15PM where Marcos was waiting and had arranged transportation for us back to the resort. This tour made our trip much more memorable that if we had stayed at the resort the entire time. On my next trip to Margarita I would definitely take another tour with Marcos!

Marcos did a good job
Jun 2011
We (I, my wife and her parents) planned a tour to the Angel Falls. I have read in the net about Marcos Tours and was impressed about his service. So I mailed Marcos regarding the same. He agreed to meet us at the Dunes where we had booked our stay on the scheduled day. He was prompt in his timings. He took us to the falls. The scenery was simply outstanding. Marcos was quite knowledgeable about the area. He informed us of everything. We took some great looking photos of the Angel falls from different views. Our visit to the Angel falls is a memorable one. Marcos was with us till we started back to home. We are glad that we took his service.

Marcos is THE BEST!!"
Feb 2011
This was our fourth trip to Margarita Island and our third time trusting in Marcos Tours (Marcos Ochoa) for our excursions.
We have visited, Coche Island , Cubagua, Cubatucan(horseback riding), Jeep Safari, La Restinga several times; Canaima and Angel Falls once and done private tours with Marcos three times. Marcos can get you the very best rates and wil make certain that your every need is met!
Our private tours with Marcos included Playa El Agua, several different picturesque sites and fortresses, markets and the "Labyrinth'(a wonderful combination of botanical gardens and animal refuge). His personal knowledge and friendly disposition make time spent with him exceptional.
We would highly reccommend Marcos Tours for all of your visits to Margarita Island...He is simply "THE BEST".

Great service and value.
We had read about Marcos Tours before arriving in Margarita Island, so had made arrangements to meet with him to discuss our requirements.
We booked a day tour of the island and a Canaima/Orinoco Delta two day trip.
Marcos showed us the cultural and geographical highlights of the island and his knowledge of all aspects of Margarita and Venezuela, from politics to history was worth a month of reading guide books!
The two day trip was incredible and will be our main memory of our holiday.
