About
Hiking tours at Lake Atitlan don’t get much better than climbing the Indian Nose on the Northwest shore of Lake Atitlan. Also called Rupalaj K’istalin, this 2,200m mountain presents one of the most rewarding climbs of Lake Atitlan. In addition to the view of the lake and the volcanoes, you will witness superb views of the villages of San Juan and San Pedro la Laguna. We will pick you up at your hotel in San Pedro la Laguna at 4:00am and then hit the road to Santa Clara la Laguna. From there we will begin the hike. The ascension is around 30 minutes to reach the top of the Indian Nose mountain and admire the Sunrise.

Great time on multiple tours with Salvador!
We ended up doing 2 private tours with Salvador: Sunday Chichicastenango market day and the Sunrise Indian Nose hike. He and his driver picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel for both tours which was very nice and convenient.

The sunrise hike to Indian Nose is very beautiful. You will be picked up at 4:30 a.m. and driven to the beginning of the hike. You will need a light of some kind since it is dark, we just used the flashlight on our phones. It is probably only 30 minutes to get up there even with stopping a couple of times along the way to catch your breath. You will arrive with plenty of extra time before the sunrise. They have coffee and hot chocolate waiting for you at the top. Enjoy the amazing stars you can see before sunrise!

For the Chichi market day it is about a 2 hour drive there. You can ask any and all questions during the drive there. Once in Chichi he walks you around and talks about different areas of the market, takes you to 2 churches and talks about the Mayan ceremonies that are happening outside of the churches, takes you to the wooden mask making shop where you can ask about your Mayan sign, go to see their beautiful and colorful cemetery before going to lunch (Salvador has good recommendations of where to go) and allows you to shop as long as you want before heading home.

We really enjoyed having Salvador as our guide. We also learned that he does bird tours and that the Quetzal, national bird and what Guatemala named their currency after, is in Santiago on Lake Atitlan. I so wish we had time to go do that to see the Quetzal, toucans and other beautiful birds.

Two great days with Salvador!
Jan 2020 • Friends
We toured the Chichi market Sunday and went on the sunrise hike to Indian Nose on Monday, Salvador was a great guide! It was very convenient to be picked up and dropped off at our hotel. We learned lots about the market and the sunrise hike was really special- we saw shooting stars, heard owls and saw lava! Wish we had time for bird watching as this is one of Salvador’s specialties. Thank you!!

Great Guide!
I visited The Lake Atitlan region of San Pedro for two days and went on three tours with Salvador, these were the three village tour, Indian nose hike and a visit to chichicastenango market. Salvador was an amazing guide and I truly appreciate how he shared his culture with me. If ever I am back in the region I will definitely use his services.

Breathtaking
One of the best sunrises I have ever seen in my life.
Salvador our tour guide was very nice and knowledgeable.
He helped us out a lot with arranging a boat from where we were staying to get to where the hike was.
He took us on the hike which is short but uphill so it’s a little tiring but you will definitely make it and when you do the view is worth it.
We highly recommend this just because it’s something you will never forget.
Salvador was so willing to help with taking pictures for us and making sure we were comfortable as we waited for the sunrise.
I would do this again!!!!

Epic View
Epic View! Was picked up from my hotel at 4AM and took about an hour to get to the start of the hike. Met another hiker who joined in and we ascended up the mountain.. took about 25 min to hike up. Not difficult at all just make sure your shows are not slippery. The view of the sunrise was incredible!! Highly, highly recommended

Special thank you to Salvatore! He was an awesome hiking guide. Very courteous and super knowledgeable!

Short hike, great view!

Salvador was very responsive via email leading up to our trip. He came right on time to pick us up from our hotel in San Pedro and it was a 40 min drive to the trailhead. The hike was about 30-45 mins and even on a somewhat cloudy day we still had a beautiful view of the whole lake and all the surrounding volcanoes. Salvador told us a lot about the culture and the land and we had a really nice time!
